I had both of my boys with them, and they were both very pleasant experience. Melinda is very thorough and detailed. Kate can put your mind at ease, and sophia is very responsive. Only good words to say about them.

It is impossible to put into words the incredible amount of care and love that my wife received at this clinic throughout her entire pregnancy! TEAM PURPLE: Noushin, Alex, Sarah-Davies and Arian ARE LITERALLY THE AVENGERS OF MIDWIVES! THE BEST OF THE BEST! Their team alone has over 50 years of Midwife experience and almost all of them are SENIOR MIDWIVES, except for just one, which is unheard of! And the only one that wasn’t, did the best job EVER delivering our baby! The CARE was top tier, giving my wife techniques to ease the cramping, so much positive affirmations, telling personal stories, using humour. You just got the sense that these were not just midwives, they kinda became family through this beautiful journey. They kept us well informed, were patient through all of our questions, did their due diligence every singe time and NOT ONCE did they overlook anything that could possibly affect the pregnancy or the baby down the line. My goodness did their experience show every single step of the way through this pregnancy. They kept us well informed of every possible scenario and outcome, even on what our rights were through this process. Much better than any OB you could ever imagine, and advocated for the safest possible decisions for baby and mommy and did an amazing job assessing my wife’s medical records and gave her the extra care she sooooooooo deserved that unfortunately not enough medical professionals provide. Look no other than team purple! We are honoured thar you were with us ever step of the way! TEAM PURPLE ALL DAY!

I cannot thank enough for the wonderful and smooth experience I had here throughout my pregnancy, child birth and the wonderful postpartum care by the Red team. A big hug to Nabal who delivered my baby! She made me feel that I was in the safest hands, patiently explained all the questions that I had and the calmness in her presence is just magical! Thanks again to Nabal, Inga and Alexandra for the amazing experience

A Transformative Experience with Exceptional Care.

Thank you Meridith & Melissa!

I cannot recommend The Midwives Clinic of East York - Don Mills highly enough. After a less than ideal experience with a traditional OB during our first pregnancy, we decided to take a different route for our second – and what an incredible difference it made!

From the start, the warmth and compassion from the staff at the clinic were palpable. The midwives here have created an environment that truly values the individual needs of each family, prioritizing comfort, understanding, and personalized care.

Our midwife, Meridith, was nothing short of outstanding. Her expertise and dedication shone through at every stage of our journey. Her calm demeanor and the genuine care she showed for our well-being significantly reduced our stress and anxiety. She made us feel supported, heard, and valued, transforming our birthing experience into something truly special.

The night of our delivery, Meridith stayed overtime with us at the hospital, providing invaluable comfort and assistance during one of the most intense moments of our lives. Her presence was a comforting constant amidst the whirlwind, helping us navigate the process with confidence and calm.

In short, The Midwives Clinic of East York - Don Mills offers a superior level of care, and we are incredibly grateful for the compassionate, personalized experience we had. This clinic and the wonderful professionals working there, especially Meridith, have forever changed our perception of what prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care can be.

We wholeheartedly recommend this clinic to any expecting parents who seek a more personalized, patient-oriented approach to childbirth. You will not only find exceptional care but also a team of dedicated professionals who go above and beyond to ensure you and your baby are in the best hands.

We received informative, compassionate, and responsive care from our team of midwives. When our baby wouldn’t turn, we were given the options and information needed to plan our next steps. We attempted ECV, but it was unsuccessful and I ultimately needed to have a scheduled c-section. Nabal’s support during the delivery was wonderful and we received excellent postpartum care from the whole team. Thank you Arian, Nabal, and Inga (Meredith, too) for your amazing care!

I have no words to express the eternal gratitude we have for the midwives' team that assisted us in bringing our baby girl into the world in good health and with all the observations during the delivery.

As an immigrant from this country I have had a great experience in my first pregnancy and it is thanks to you.

Receive a big hug from us. Melinda, Melissa and Kathy

I met Sonia when I was 5 months pregnant. I had made the decision part way through my pregnancy to switch to a midwife because I felt that my pregnancy experience and relationship with my health care provider could be better. I had friends who had very positive experiences with their midwives and I wanted to explore that option. I was unsure if I would even get assigned to someone because I knew there were often long wait-lists, but luckily, I received a call and scheduled a meet and greet with Sonia. At the time, in 2018, Sonia was working at the Midwives Collective in Toronto. She was about one year out and was very upfront with me about her experience. She explained that there were senior midwives who were always there for her to consult with, and that her caseload wasn’t as heavy the first year out in order to provide the best care possible to her patients. At our visit, I felt very comfortable with Sonia. She explained the history of midwifery in Canada, the misconceptions the public sometimes had about midwifery and answered my questions very thoughtfully. A few days later, she called me to follow up. I decided that I wanted to be in her care. And I am so, so thankful I made that decision. Sonia is kind, caring, intuitive, knowledgeable and all around a true professional. The rest of my pregnancy was smooth without complications and she guided me safely through my delivery and after care. As a first-time mother, as much as you can prepare, childbirth a surreal and crazy experience. Sonia was calm and lead the way like she had been doing this her whole life. She knew when to push me (time to get out of the tub Jeanie) and when to ramp things up when it was time to push. She suggested different positions to promote advancement of the baby and they worked! I safely delivered my baby boy and the aftercare was even better. It is priceless to have the same person who delivered your baby, also care for you in the coming days. They know you, understand you and you trust them completely. I had a complication that resulted in urinary retention, and Sonia was there the next day to place a catheter, and many other times after that. Sonia was there for me every moment I needed her. Her care was exceptional, and I will forever be grateful to her. Thank you Sonia.

I had an awful birthing experience with the midwives here. It was traumatic. Firstly, they sell themselves as a team of midwives but only one midwife was present for the majority of my labour and one came in the last hour. Secondly, without being made known any of the possible risks (without my informed consent) I was given Pitocin, which is synthetic Oxytocin. When I asked what it was the midwife said “its just to speed up your labour. ” It made labour unbearable, so unbearable I had to have an epidural which I wanted to avoid (I had made it clear to the whole team at the clinic I wanted a natural birth.) I was in soo much pain and I didn’t have an advocate. This midwife (Kristen Campbell) did what was easier for her and what would make her clinic money. If you want a natural birthing experience you’re better off finding another clinic. Lastly, they don’t help you wash your baby and need you to leave the hospital after 3 hours. They stitch you up quickly and try to get rid of you as soon as possible. Which is barbaric. Steer clear fellow moms, especially women of colour.

From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I knew that I would like to be in the care of midwives. I initially began my care with another midwifery clinic but found it difficult to connect with my assigned midwife. Around 20 weeks, I decided to switch into the care of Sarah W and Christie at The Midwives’ Clinic. * They were both incredibly kind and knowledgeable, answering all of my (many) questions, and explaining each decision and test thoroughly. This meant that I was able to fully trust my care providers and knew that they could manage any situation that might occur with the birth. When my partner and I decided on a home birth, I began visualizing our ideal scenario in our tiny condo. When the day came, the birth was as magical as I imagined. I felt so prepared, cared for, supported, and in control. Following the birth, the midwives educated on breastfeeding and certain things to watch for, then our babe was tucked into bed with my partner and I. It was the most wonderful day of my life. I was also extremely well cared for in the postpartum period and was so grateful for the home visits and phone calls to answer any questions that I had. Thank you so much:)

*Also a big thank you to midwives Nebal and Stacey (student) who attended the birth along with Christie.

From beginning to end, my team of midwives showed care and empathy. I truly appreciated all of them and thought they did a wonderful job at putting me at ease with my first baby.
I would definitely request their care again.
Thank you Katie, Melissa and Melinda.

I don’t have words to express my grateful for my midwives: Sarah Davis, Vanessa Dixon and Sonia Perez. They were amazing and provided us a safe delivery. My baby is now 3 months now and for sure I will come to the Midwives clinic again in my next pregnancy.

I am so grateful to Sonia Perez from the Midwives of East York. She was very attentive, professional, answered every question in detail no matter how silly, and she has a great sense of humor. She made me feel comfortable and taken care of every step of the way. She explained everything down to the tiniest detail to me, I felt informed and alot less anxious in my decision making.

I had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend her.

I recently gave birth to my second child with the Midwives of East York. I have nothing but gratitude for these women who worked to make both experiences safe and comfortable. I opted to use Midwives but in a hospital setting, and thought it was the best of both worlds. My first birth was fast and unmedicated, and my second was much longer and I used an epidural near the end. For both experiences, my Midwives provided guidance, reassurance and skill that only comes from doing this hundreds of times. After the births, they came to my home to check the babies and me, and always had time to answer questions and talk as long as I needed. Working with this medical team has been the best experience with medical professionals I’ve ever had. I can’t recommend using a midwife enough (no matter what your birth plan is), and specifically the women at this clinic.

I was lucky enough to work with Sarah Leslie and Tracy- and will 100% use them if we have another baby.

Nabal and Simone were my midwives. They provided the best service, they were accepting, non judgmental, very informative, respectful and caring throughout my whole pregnancy and after. Initially, I had visited other midwives clinics in Toronto where they judged me based on my age, situation and race as I am noticeably multiracial (5). They had talked down to me, therefore I didn’t stay with those clinics and went to The Midwives Clinic of East York. Nabal was there for my labour and delivered my baby.

As a young adult going through all this, I was very scared when in labour, my friend was with me and I’d get her to call Nabal from the nurses station, she would come then hold my hand telling me I’m ok and that it’s ok, etc. This clinic provides the best support system ever. I wish I could come here again for their services as I am now pregnant with baby #2, but I have moved to the GTA. Overall, I highly recommend this clinic.

**My experience is based off of a couple years ago.

There is nothing that could have prepared us for the overwhelming sense of gratitude we feel towards the amazing team of Midwives at this unbelievable clinic. Melissa, Nabal and Esther are literal earth angels and I am so grateful that the challenging experiences I had at other clinics, led me to take charge of my care and seek out the perfect providers—and that is without a doubt these three women and this beautiful clinic.

The challenges of covid certainly made it difficult to find quality care—I was actually a part of two different clinics before joining with the Midwives Clinic of East York-Don Mills, but felt that my care had fallen through the cracks and I wanted something more. This clinic provided everything I could’ve hoped for and MORE.

My 1st midwife was Melissa Chan—and to say that this woman is incredible, would be an understatement. She was the best possible advocate I could’ve hoped for. Full transparency, I had an anxious pregnancy. Melissa was there every step of the way, to answer any and every question, put my mind at ease AND go above and beyond to ensure that my birth plan was honoured. I truly believe I had the best birth imaginable because of her care and preparation. She advocated for every resource possible, including fighting for my doula to be in the room with me during birth (a restriction that had been taken away just mere days before my baby’s birth due to COVID). She also arranged with the team at the hospital for me and my husband to be able to stay for 24 hours, for additional support and care. We had everyone from a social worker to pharmacist, to a paediatrician, to an amazing team of nurses come and visit us, during our stay, and it really helped us transition seamlessly into parenthood and reassure us that baby was thriving and perfect. She has been incredible post-partum and is always so patient with me and my endless list of questions. She is warm, she is so smart and she has empathy in spades. When she speaks to you, she stops everything she’s doing, looks you in the eyes and makes you feel seen. This is 100% her vocation in life. If you have the opportunity to join her team, it will be the best thing that happened to your birth!

I was in the unique and fortunate position to have not only my first midwife in my birth, but my second, Nabal! What luck—as this unique situation only happens one to two days a month. Melissa’s shift ended as I was heading into the last leg of the labour and Nabal swooped in and seamlessly took the reins. She was an unbelievable support—so caring and knowledgeable. My labour had stalled for quite some time and even though my birth plan saw me having a completely natural birth, I began to question if I could do it. Nabal armed me with the facts around all options in an unbiased way, but also shared her belief in me, that I could have the birth I wanted. In high tension moments, she commanded the room and brought us all to safety—unmedicated no less! I am forever grateful for her welcoming arms being the first to touch our baby and bring him in the world.

A huge shout out to Sophia who was the backup midwife at the birth. She was exactly what we needed in that moment—so calm, caring and attentive. She even went so far as to come visit us the next day at the hospital, just to see how Bruce and his new parents were doing. She is the type of person that immediately puts you at ease.

And finally, to Esther, who did our home visit—she is an amazing woman and one of the founders of the clinic. She has delivered thousands of babies and her relaxed demeanour and reassuring words, makes you feel as though everything is and will be alright.

If you’re exploring clinics for your pregnancy and post-partum care, look no further—this is where you need to be to have the best care in the country! All our love and gratitude, Emma, Jeff and baby Bruce

If you are able to get in at the Midwives Clinic of East York, please please do so and count your lucky stars! They are so amazing, truly! I had my first child three months ago and throughout my entire pregnancy, despite COVID, I felt safe and reassured as can be in the care of my team—Sonia, Sarah Wilson and Stephanie. (I am pretty sure this is team Purple? ! —things may have changed).
These women work incredibly hard and basically 24/7. Each of them was so very professional, but it also felt comfortable and easy to talk with them about anything. I was given tons of information and felt I had total freedom and respect regarding choices to be made for both myself and the birth of my son, and afterwards, too.
I was very scared and anxious about the birthing process, and while I have to say it was the most difficult thing I have ever done (haha) my team of midwives were the most amazing blessing. I felt so personally cared for, and mostly that my needs were heard and respected. They made me feel incredibly safe at a time when I was so afraid.
The aftercare was also wonderful—once again I was very anxious and felt that every time I reached out to the office with any concerns or questions, I was immediately helped and reassured, and was made to feel very cared for. I spoke with Stephanie on the phone twice (both calls in which she made me feel so incredibly relieved!) Sonia and Sarah both made home visits which were so helpful and appreciated as I had a tough first few weeks recovering from a cesarean section.
I cannot thank them all enough—this entire staff and clinic have a wonderful thing going and I feel so lucky to have been able to be in their care for my first pregnancy. I hope we will cross paths again!

I have so much praise and thanks to the Midwives Clinic, specifically Jennifer and Sonia for being so supportive, helpful, and amazing throughout my pregnancy and delivery. I always felt that Jen and Sonia provided accurate information, were always available, consistently had positive and upbeat attitudes despite being extremely busy, and showed such kindness and patience.

I had a simple pregnancy, free of any complications. My delivery was a different story. However, I got through the hardest experience of my life only because Jen and Sonia were with me every step of the way. These ladies were instrumental in lowering my anxiety and stress levels, managing expectations, and providing strategies and approaches to adjust to being a new mom.

I cannot thank Jen and Sonia of the Midwives Clinic enough. I would highly recommend The Midwives Clinic and their wonderful team members in providing care to members of the community.

What an incredible team of midwives! I just had my final, postpartum 6 week visit, and I am so sad to say goodbye to them! Right when I met my team of midwives (the Green team), I felt welcomed and I knew I was in good hands. They were always encouraging me, supporting me, and I felt I was able to openly share with them when I had any worries (leading up to the labour as well as during postpartum). They took the time to answer my questions and helped me adjust to this new role of motherhood! So grateful for the midwives!

Our second son was just born with help from midwives. This time it was Sophia and Melinda and it was a great experience. Thank you so much!

Everyone I met at the clinic was wonderful! Sarah Fallis was my main midwife and helped me every step of the way. She was so positive, reassuring and knowledgeable. She made my experience incredible! Sarah Leslie delivered my baby and she was amazing too! She gave me the strength I needed to get through my delivery. She put me at ease and I felt so safe and confident in her care. I highly recommend this amazing team of women!

I had two wonderful experiences with this midwifery clinic. In both cases - including my recent pregnancy and birth which occurred during the height of Covid - my midwives made my experiences comfortable and safe. Clinic visits were friendly and super thorough (and I never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen for my appointments!). When I made my informed choices to have c-sections, my midwives collaborated with the OB and nursing teams at the hospital and my care was coordinated and smooth. Both times, my midwife was with me during my birth, and provided amazing support to me and my babies in the hospital and at home after discharge. I can’t say enough about this incredible group of midwives and the truly personalized care my family and I received. Extra special thanks to the awesome midwives who cared for me and each of my babies directly: Katie, Mehran, Melinda, Nabal, Tracy, Simone and Christine.
15 October 2020 14:58
Esther and her team were everything I expected from a midwife. Calm, thoughtful, understanding, available! There was never a call ignored or a question unanswered. I planned on giving birth at the Toronto birthing centre but delivery ended up being at home and those women didn't even flinch at the sudden change of plans. During pregnancy and in the 6 weeks after, they were invaluable to me! I will be forever thankful!
11 October 2020 21:27
If I could give 10 stars I would. I had both my pregnancies with the Midwives here. I am grateful for the level of support and knowledge that they have. The Green team was phenomenal and the six weeks of after care and support truly made my transition to motherhood as smooth as possible. They all go above and beyond to ensure that you and your new little one are taken care of. A Midwife is a great resource during an intimate and vulnerable time in your life. Wish I could have more time with them! Thanks for everything Tracy, Sarah and Sarah!

P.s. Never had any problems or incidents with the reception staff, they were always kind, courteous and helpful.

10 stars! Everything about our experience with our midwife team was positive. We feel very grateful for all their work. The team (we worked with Sarah Fallis and Sarah Leslie) has gone above and beyond to support us during the pregnancy, during the delivery and postpartum period. They always took the time for us, are very knowledgeable & professional, shared a lot of information, provided emotional support, were very encouraging during the delivery and were invaluable in helping us settle into parenthood. It's been an incredibly positive experience!
13 September 2020 22:51
I’m sure the midwives are great but I never got a confirmation for the appointment so I went ahead with an OBGYN. The receptionist was rude when she called back and told me I never requested an email - which I’m 100% sure I did because I had no idea I even had an appointment.

You have to be nice when contacting potential clients - especially pregnant women - it’ll turn people off and away from going with their services.

The wholistic service, care, and attention provided by the midwives of East York - Don Mills is exceptional. They are an incredibly dedicated team of knowledgeable professionals who are commited to their clients. Our family wouldn't be the same without them.

Wow. I cannot praise these midwives highly enough! Katie, Melinda, and Mehran guided me through my first pregnancy with the utmost patience, respect, kindness, and compassion. Their knowledge and passion for this work shines through in all they do. Melinda was available to me in my early labor, then there with me during active labour for a total of 24 hours! When she had to finally rest, Kam and Sarah stepped in to safely deliver our boy. Even though things didn’t go according to my birth plan, it didn’t matter one bit. All my midwives helped me through the process with positivity, laughter, and joy. I’m forever grateful and would recommend this clinic to anyone!

I have nothing but great things to say about this clinic! My wife utilized their services for the birth of two of my children. We have referred this clinic to many of our friends because of the personalized care we received. They really went above and beyond to ensure my wife had a safe, easy birth and we definitely recommend their services! Gary

This Midwives Clinic of East York provide amazing services, We have wonderful experience with Stella Capisciolto and Jennifer Gardiner twice during last 9 years. Initially we were very exhausted with other doctors, i was not comfortable with the male doctors regarding the pregnancy then a friend of mine recommended this Clinic, All the Midwives deserve tons of appreciation, Thank you Stella Thank you Jennifer Thank you Midwives Clinic each staff members.

The midwives are the sweetest here but the receptionist is such a horrible person to talk to. She would interrupt, not listen to you. She has no courtesy to talk to people let alone pregnant women.
I suggest they should knock some etiquettes into her about talking to pregnant women.
This one star is for the midwives. Had it been the receptionist, I would give her 0.

Midwife Jen didn’t show up my labour because she didn’t believe me when I said I was in labour with my second. Thank god for the OBs at Michael Garron.

My team was Melinda, Mehran, and Katie. I couldn't recommend them more. I felt so completely taken care of throughout my entire pregnancy, birth, and post-partum period. They are all so knowledgeable, caring, and smart. I never expected to be laughing while delivering a baby, but I laughed so much because I was in such good company! They made it such a wonderful experience for me and my family. The level of postpartum care I received was incredible and makes all of my friends who didn't use midwives very jealous!

I have used the midwives of East York for my two pregnancies and my experience has been excellent for both. The care during and after delivery is exceptional and would highly recommend to any family interested in using their services.
01 November 2019 4:57
I did not get the opportunity to experience treatment from a midwife here, primarily because I was so turned off by the receptionist. I'm sure the care received is exceptional as I've heard nothing but good things about midwifery in general, but the tactless interaction (and also first impression) of the receptionist is a complete turn off. I suggest you either teach her some etiquette or replace her, because I'm sure you're losing clients primary because of her. She is dealing with pregnant women for crying out loud.

The worst part is that I was calling in as a cash patient. And instead of telling me whether or not the option was there, she told me to fill out the form online and then hung up. Absolutely disgusting.

I've given this review 2 stars only because I'm optimistic that the midwives are not a reflection of their receptionist.

Melinda saved my cousin's life, literally!
My cousin almost had a stroke, and she almost lost her baby. My cousin had preeclampsia, a doctor at East General said it was the most high-risk case she has ever seen. Thank you, Melinda, for everything you did! Thank you for visiting them at Sick Kids when her newborn was in ICU, thank you for checking in on her mental wellbeing. Thank you for your overall emotional support during that difficult time. You went over and beyond, and my family and I are forever grateful for you and the fantastic work you did. You are an amazing soul.
05 October 2019 19:50
The midwives are nice but the receptionist is not. She was being rude over the phone and hung up on me. She should not be dealing with pregnant women like this, she made me literally cry. Please learn some etiquettes!

Amazing place, I went there as a newbie and the staff is very helpful, the midwives at the clinic are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, great experience here, book an apppointment for easy and fast meeting with midwife, very reliable resources.

As soon as I got confirmation that I wasn’t having a high risk pregnancy, I made the decision to transfer over from a OBGYN to East York Midwives and was assigned to Stella. Having seen both types of practioners, I immediately noticed that with a midwife, you’re getting healthcare that doesn’t feel rushed.

Through the entire journey, any concern I had outside of our regular appointments, Stella and her partner Jennifer were on call 24/7. The clinic is very well organized and they give so much relevant information to guide first time moms.

When my contractions got closer together, Stella visited me at home to check my status, allowing me to stay comfortable at home for as long as I can before going to hospital. Once I was ready, she took care of getting my hospital room all set, so when I arrived and all I had to do was settle in. The entire birthing and post went so smooth because of her dedication and mastery to her line of work. She stayed with me the truly, from start to end and I feel so grateful that she was by my side. My friends talk about how wonderful midwives are, but Stella through the birthing and Jennifer through the postpartum visits so incredibly over exceeded those expectations. I would highly recommend MCEY, Stella and Jennifer a hundred times over.
