The North Taiwanese Cuisine 老北肉羹

Food is ok, once awhile craving for Taiwanese food would stop by, terrible service, staff are serving wrong food to table, my car got towed away after I found out myself after dinner. Then, staff said there are always car got towed away parking 2 spots in middle line plazza……

Good food, really good service. Gua bao, fried chicken, fried tofu, cucumber salad, all excellent. The 3 cup chicken was a bit of a miss.

The servers are so attentive, the millisecond you finish your pot of tea they'll already be at the table with a new pot, it's awesome. Same happened when a chopstick fell on the floor, someone instantly came over with a replacement. 10/10

The hours are a bit strange though

Best Taiwanese beef noodle soup and popcorn chicken I've ever had. The fried tofu was also really good. I drank all the soup

This is a small restaurant, with around 25 seats. Lunch even on weekdays is busy. If you get here after 12 pm then you may have to wait to get a table.

Unfortunately I couldn't love this restaurant. I was excited about having local Taiwanese fare available and the venue was quite busy. Staff actually asked us to pack up and go when they noticed we had slowed down eating because so they could seat someone else. I found this place expensive for what you get and the quality of food. 5 mains with 1 side and 3 drinks cost $90 before tip. The popcorn chicken and the green onion egg pancake were the favourites of the table. But the deep fried pork noodle soup was a huge miss, it was incredibly salty and sour and didn't have much flavour. The beef brisket noodle soup was better, not as salty and the beef was tender but it wasn't deep or full bodied in flavour. The braised pork on rice was ok too. Not a lot of ground pork and the egg was incredibly over cooked that it was very hard. The ice tea is like drinking sugar water and all of us had to water it down by pouring the hot tea into it so there was a stronger tea flavour. I wouldn't go out of my way to come dine here.

Good service & delicious Taiwanese foods & lot of choices. I will come to try another foods.

Craving for some Taiwanese food and found this newly opened restaurant around the area!
We ordered take-out. Popcorn chicken, crispy chicken, and the pork floss pancake were all good. The popcorn chicken and the crispy chicken were still crispy by the time I arrived home. The 3-cup chicken was ok.
Portion was good, pricing was good, and the employees were friendly. The wait time was approximately 15 mins.
Will definitely go back.

Ordered thicken pork soup rice and braised beef soup noodles. Plum powdered tomatoes.

Seems their most popular dish is the braided beef soup noodles as almost every table ordered this dish. The beef shank was very tender and beefy, soup base flavorful and slightly sweet. Noodles firm

The thickened pork bone rice was a nice surprise. Slivers of bamboo shoots and fungus with pearl style rice in a flavorful thick porky soup base.

Plum powdered tomatoes could have used a little more plum powder as the sweet tomato flavour profile overwhelmed the expected plum powder flavor.

Complimentary pickled vegs on every table which added an extra flavor profile to your dishes if added.

So many other menu dishes I wanted to order so I'll be back

I am not Taiwanese so not sure what authentic Taiwanese food should be taste like. But the food from this place seems yummy to me. The service are friendly, today (Sat), just realized the kitchen is actually closed on 3: 45pm but they still take me in at 4pm, I really appreciated that!

In terms of food, we ordered these:
Egg pancakes with beef - freshly made and with nice fried egg aroma! Quite good and I liked it.
Beef noodles - I like here that they put the preserved veg on the table as condiment so I can add as much preserved veg on my beef noodle as I want. The beef soup for the noodle is not the most flavourful I ever had but still ok. But for $16, I think soup should be abit more beef flavour, still not bad!
Pop corn chicken - chicken is very fresh and juicy and nicely seasoned! The only thing I want to mention if the oil used for frying is not as dark, it would be perfect.

All in all, good experience for me and would visit again.

Price is slightly higher in this tiny and busy restaurant than rest of restaurants among the same area. Is this restaurant worth a try? I guess all depends on whether you're hungry or not.

If you're noodles lover, and used to real soup based with authentic beef, chicken and pork bones and herbs ingredients, then you should skip Taiwanese style of noodles soup based.

A moment after we ordered two soup noodles at the same time there, we were deeply regretful.

I guess we could not taste the difference between these two noodles' dishes. Feeling soups based is further thickened by adding too much in a thickener such as tapioca starch or cornstarch.

The side dish we have ordered 5-flouvor Poached Chicken, the portion of chicken is acceptable, and it comes with a tasty dipping sauce. In my opinion and my own preference, the chicken is slightly overcooked

Visit this place on a weekend for lunch, came at 1130 and already have people waiting in line, luckily we got a table within 15 minutes for a group of five. They don’t take reservation and the place is small, so come early or you will have to wait!
Tried most of the dishes people recommended, their popcorn chicken, deep fried squid, egg pancake are a must try. Beef noodle soup is lack of flavor and very little beef slices, but the texture of the noodle is super good! Minced pork rice is a traditional Taiwanese food but here they didn’t make it well, very disappointed to see this dish not being made properly. Lack of favour and rice is not fully cooked.
The service is good and fast and they take time to explain the menu. Overall, enjoyed the meal and would come back to try more.

Amazing place for Taiwanese food. Lots of interesting choices. The shop is small and busy but was able to get a table pretty quick. The food were very delicious and fast. Definitely coming back for more.

Delicious authentic Taiwanese comfort street food at Richmond Hill. Located in a small plaza with plenty parking spaces. Cozy & clean. Excellent customer service. The servers were very polite and attentive. Dropped in on Tuesday afternoon for a quick lunch. It wasn’t busy. Wanted to order their Taiwanese Oyster Soup Vermicelli with Pork intestine but ran out of vermicelli. End up we tried their House Thickened Pork Soup Noodles, 3-Cup Basil Chicken on rice and Braised Tofu Block. Food were served hot & fast. They did have authentic Taiwanese flavour. Wish they could offer a drink comes with the combo with rice or drink on menu. The young owner also promoted their new menus of Cold noodle with sesame sauce & Oyster Omelet will be coming in summer. Will definitely come back to try them.
