The Octagon

So I had high expectations but very disappointed. Did not expect the Caesar salad to cost $50 / two people and the seafood platter for two was $275! That is ludicrous! (the price was hidden only indicating market value) The rest of the food was mediocre at best. The waiter purposely forgot to ask me what I wanted so my hubbie had to speak up on my behalf and after paying over $800 for 4 adults and two kids the waiters hovered around our table making us feel like we had to leave and it was about an hour and 45 mins. I can understand if it was at a cheap food restauarant and the turnover
is high but not at a "high-end" steak house. Totally uncalled for.
I'm literally in a state of shock.

Came here for new years eve. Classic old fashioned steakhouse with phenomenal service. A true timeless establishment.

I have no words. Feel bad for anyone having the displeasure of eating here. Food was cold and flavourless. Staff was very inconsiderate. Staff assumed the name of my reservation without asking me -seemed like they were stereotyping

Chateaubriand cooked perfectly and tasted great.

Usually an excellent steakhouse. New Year's Eve maybe they don't have their best staff on. Our appetizer came burnt. Service was spotty. Not the usual impeccable service and food I am used to.

I recommend Octagon whole heatedly.just don't go on major holidays.

Our first visit here. Beautiful decor - lovely wood and glass throughout.

Outstanding food - I had the house salad and the 8oz filet mignon steak with rice. My companion had the onion soup and lobster tail.

We finished with the tiramisu.

Overall, excellent service. Drinks, appetizers and main meal served on time - just a short delay getting a coffe after the meal.

Pricey but a very special treat!

The restaurant is octagon shaped, which I find really cool. The meals were delicious, however side presentations could have been better. Having one scoop of mashed potato on a separate plate looked very cheap. Other than that, great experience.

Did not like the ambience - felt in church.
Food quality quite average for the price.
Gave three stars for the amazing staff and fast service.

I went there again. Just sublime. First time we were in the private area, kind of "train wagons", good for bigger parties. This time we were in the central "octagonal" area. Beautiful and elegant restaurant. Food and service is top. If you want to surprise someone, this is the place.

I don't normally take the time to leave a review but there are a few things I felt worth sharing. I dined there tonight for mother's day dinner. The food was good, not great; I'd say it wouldn't fall within the top 5 of some other great steak houses I've dined at. The decency of the food is why I haven't given 1 star.

The service tonight is what I feel is worth noting. When my cousin had called to make the reservation, she asked if they had food options for children and they were quick to say they could put a pasta together. That seemed good enough since my children love a good pasta. Not only was 1 of our servers, brisk and uninviting, when I had requested to order the pasta for my children, he said " No, we are not doing pasta tonight". My cousin mentioned that they had agreed to make a pasta when she had made the reservation and the lack of accomodation was very telling. This place is not child accomodating in the slightest. Please do not continue to accept reservations with families with young children if you aren't willing to follow through with what you've told your guests. We decided not to make a big deal because my kids could just nibble off of our sides and we didn't want to ruin our mother's day evening. I understand everyone has a bad day here and there, but this server ruined my evening and left a terrible impression. We certainly will not be returning and would not recommend to our friends and family.

What an amazing place, food, service and attentive staff. Being disabled sometimes doesn’t allow me to be comfortable in certain restaurants or staff don’t know how to assist me. The Octagon, from the moment we called to make reservations till the moment we left the restaurant we received nothing but professional service. The food was cooked to perfection and all ingredients were fresh. We will be returning to the Octagon.

This steak house has been set in a historic charming house. I haven't been back since COVID and feel like returning home. Everything has been kept well. Service and food are great. I had a wonderful evening there.

Very friendly staff. Excellent food portions free parking. Really is an octagon shape restaurant. Outdated, but adds to the charm and character of the restaurant.

The Octagon Steakhouse in Thornhill surpasses expectations with exceptional service. Their bone-in rib steak is an absolute delight, reaching the pinnacle of excellence. A must-visit for steak enthusiasts!

Feels like you are in someone's grandma house (not in a good way). Old and dusty.horrible carpets.our server was so old that I felt uncomfortable to take his service. Food and a menu are.average.salad was made from the cheapest ingredients. Everything is outdated.decor, food, plates. If you are 65 and younger.its not your place. And It was expensive for no reason.

I think the service and the food was just OK and the scallop personally, I think don’t it worth for $60, i excepted big and juicy scallops… but this is so dry and salty.really not recommend

What a fabulous dinner. Loved every bit of it. A great atmosphere makes for a great dinner.

Prime rib was ordered medium rare, came out a bit undercooked, not very flavorful, for $60 was expecting perfection or at least memorable. Was also 1/3 fat. Did not give table bread, had to ask. Escargot was expensive and very small pieces. Seems like Waiters were waiting for our table as it was getting busy and felt a bit rushed. I think Keg much better value and just as good quality if not better.

Wow! One of the best dinners. Everything was amazing. Our waiters were very friendly, helpful & attentive. The garlic bread is so good. We tried the crab cakes which were also good, as well as the lobster bisque, very rich & the bacon wrapped scallops which were dynamite. Steaks were truly delicious. The salmon fillet was also amazing, cooked perfectly. They don't have a kids menu, so wouldn't recommend bringing the kids unless they eat fish, steak ect.
Great wine list to choose from. Relaxing, inviting environment, absolutely gorgeous inside.
If you haven't tried the octagon, I absolutely recommend it!

Traditional high-end steak house. Excellent service and extensive wine selections. Very suitable for special occasions.

I celebrated my birthday there a few days ago. It was an AWESOME experience! The Service was impeccable and the food was amazing! Thank you all for such a truly pleasurable dining experience!

I won’t lie, I have an eating disorder! My disorder is I can’t control myself when presented with incredible food! Truly this place is an Institution! If you have a bad time here you’re a bad person. The food is only surpassed by the service. The men here who endeavour to make each table’s experience truly unique and amazing have made their work the definition of Profession. Excellent only describes opening the front door. Can’t wait to go back!
