The Original Barrio Fiesta

Avoid at all costs, they will lie to you and trick all those naive to the Filipino culture; there are so many better options out there! A couple of weeks back, I asked this lady if they had Cassava cake, she took my number and said she would call back and never did. Then, today, we called her to prepare the food, when over the phone, she said barbecue was 1.50$ a piece. In reality, she charged us 5$ a piece for burnt pork and chicken barbecue covered in plain catchup. I also got that Cassava cake she was supposed to call me about. It was clearly overpriced along with saggy overpriced Pancit. In the end, the bill came up to be insanely high because of the lie about the barbecue and because of my unfamiliarity with the Filipino culture and prices of Filipino food in Canada.

Update: Recently, I received a call from this business, I couldn't pick up, and then I just simply blocked them as I knew they wanted me to delete this review. This place is better rated than it should have been, and calling me about a review just proves that this place should just shut down rather than take people's money and give this nausiating disappointment.

My son bought this disgusting barbecue for us, and it tasted so bad that I just threw 40$ of it out not to risk food poisoning.

I bought 4 kinds of viands there, I was so disappointed as the food taste aweful! My husband doesn’t like your food either. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, I am disatistied, disappointed & unhappy of the foods! I will never go back there.

Undercooked menudo, beef was still pink. Beef broccoli was spoiled. Rice was not cooked well. Pinakbet tasted bad. Only 1 thing was acceptable, the dinakdakan.

I ordered crispy pata, it’s cooked not crispy but it’s okay. What’s not okay is it’s tasteless. Seems like they just boil it in water until cooked before frying. But not boiled until tender and with spices. We had crispy pata before but not this bad. Ended up cooking in my instant pot as paksiw for 50 minutes. We don’t go to the store as much as before because of their appalling customer service…even spending almost a hundred dollars and sometimes more than a hundred just by walking in. I wish Heart Evangelista will visit this store and see how disappointing it is, as it carries her grandmother’s (family) legacy, The Barrio Fieasta in the Philippines.

I had a to go order of fish paksiw and it was so salty.very salty that l threw them out after a few bites.taste should be balanced omg.either the cook doesn't pay attention to overall taste or he deliberately did it on purpose. FV foods taste better

I ordered batchoy it taste so bitter and salty. The meat is so few and they should separate the meat and the soup for to go. I also ordered arrozcaldo, the taste was so bad knowing i told them its for my daughter. Never coming back

Wonderful experience, looking forward to my next visit, it was my first time here and the staff was outstanding, the food was a five start a true taste of the Philippines! Thank you Karla and firtzi!

Not worth even with one star.
We ordered Kare-kare which was all old beef, no oxtail, a lot of sauce that filled the brim of the container projecting a full serving. Meat used appears to be leftover from another menu.
Ordered crispy pata that was not newly cooked either. Ordered pork adobo which tasted as left over from so many days, dry and old taste.
To request a plate to eat on, I was told there was a charge, it was a mere styrofoam. As I commented where do they expect us to eat what we ordered, it was given free.
Special orders are over priced like those we ordered and to think that they serve are leftover foods, not fresh at all. DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF EVEN GOING TO THIS PLACE. We arrived at the store just as it opened for business, yet the foods they have are OLD.

As much as i wanted to come here to buy my favorite ensaymada, I stop myself to come back here due to unfriendly cashier who serve me. The tone of her voice make me think she don't want me there. No customer service quality at all.

Service is too long… ordered food that’s just deep friend and is taking almost half an hour for it to be served… my break is almost over and I won’t be able to eat it anymore.

I frequent this superb restaurant from time to time since I love the good mood that is part of this place. The staff is extremely helpful and qualified. The service is deeply fast. Needless to say, the food they prepare is perfect. I visited more than once and I was always pleased. The rate is modest. I suggest this place to to all.

The two female staff on duty at the Thorncliff Park location on June 12 2021 refused to give the hot sauce for my food after payment unless I pay extra for it. This was a suprise as I had been there several times before and that never came up. Sure to say they won't be seeing me there next time.

Their buko (coconut) pandan is the BEST! It’s so creamy and it’s not too sweet. It’s perfect! Margie at the counter is very accommodating and personable, as well as the cook. Will definitely go back!

Kare Kare was bland had zero taste, weird jelly consistency of the stew. It seemed like they took it out of the freezer and re heated it when they claimed it was made to order Also it did not include shrimp paste. We also got chicken skewers were “ok”. Staff was very friendly though!

I ordered Bulalo via ubereats and it cost $16. But I only received 1 piece of meat. I called them and they said yes we are only serving 1 beef shank. Okay for me that’s expensive already. And 2nd the pork sisig. Ive never experience to eat a sisig that swims in its fat. They don’t cut their sisig into cubes. It looks like they use ground pork. Lol I’ve been a customer for almost 3-4 years but this time never again. Nothing really special in this restaurant.

The place offers an awesome range of delicious food. I enjoyed dining here. Employees are always super nice, prices are affordable and the place is always neat.

We enjoy to go out. Yesterday we arrived in this delicious restaurant which friends recommended to us. We enjoyed a lovely evening there with delicious food and a well-trained stuff and a great cook. We added this fine restaurant in our phone list and we will certainly return very soon. Highly recommended.

Two days ago was our first time in this excellent restaurant. But It is obviously not the last time. We passed a splendid evening with the excellent service, with the excellent cuisine and booze and with the honest pay. We will definitely visit there in a short time.

Food was good. The service was excellent. But they should wear mask and gloves especially when serving at their food station. It would be great if they have the plastic shield or plexi glass installed.

I ordered 5 large platters: Pancit Canton and Bihon mix, Calderereta, Pork Sisig, Chopsuey, Palabok, and Kare-kare for the Christmas dinner and I got a large platter of Shanghai rice for free. I was really surprised with the quality of unique culinary experience that my friends and family enjoyed. Thank you very much for making our holidays spectacular. The food was freshly cooked, deliciously made with a blend of tastes that reminds me of home made meals back in the Philippines. I am very much impressed with the great experience I had and I would like to highly recommend this restaurant not only to my fellow Filipino but to all food enthusiasts.

Back 3 times already. The food is really authentic and fresh. The crispy pasta and halo halo are my favs. The owner is super friendly and is slowly renovating and adding to the menu. Gotta come back for the noodle fight!

I prefer this place very much. It has a great feeling. The food is exeptionaly good.the service is dynamic and the team is courteous. The pay is satisfactory. I highly recommend.

I always come back here for tha laing, lechon kawali and fried bangus. The service is great and friendly staff. I prefer to eat here at least three times a week when I miss authentic filipino food.

Bought the palabok here, other than its overpriced the food is TASTELESS! My order came with big pieces of chicken instead of fish flakes and pork rinds. Who does that?

Food is so lousy. I bought beef calderata and it tasted BURNT.beef cubes though was half cooked. Friends also told me that thet the food tasted bad. I think they recycle the food as it does not look fressh.

I won’t give it any star. The food is terrible. This place does not resemble the real Barrio Fiesta at all. I ordered Grilled Pork and what I got were three slabs of previously boiled pork and they just added grill marks and does not taste like an authentic Inihaw na baboy. The pork barbecue does not taste like barbecue at all. The owner should be ashamed to associate this restaurant with Barrio Fiesta. Any resemblance is with the name only. A total waste of time and money.
