Since posting complaint the unit in question [laptop HP G6] has progressively gotten worse. Regrettably, I'm now sourcing out a replacement display. The repair cost will exceed the value of the laptop, equating to further loss of time, money & energy.

BUYER BEWARE Strong forewarning

I ordered a laptop for winter ordered early on sale, HP G6 came w/ bad LCD. Gets hot.
Started using laptop a few months after purchase, find problems immediately, contact PC ROOM, context of the reply email indicates 90 day warranty has run the course, unlikely that they will replace.

I asked for a return, or exchange.
It’s been 24 hours since last response
Case appears to have been abandoned.

I have maybe 20 hours on this machine.
LCD has evident installation flaw / error.

PC Room [support] showed little to no energy in way of rectifying the situation.

It is worth noting that I ordered this through Best Buy from a third-party seller. There is a network of rules and reg that emits both companies to be held responsible.

I highly urge future customers to thoroughly examine any purchase made by PC room as soon as received. This company will request that CUSTOMER ship the item back out of pocket, so prepare to be without your device for a period of time as well pay for shipping.

PC Room is my "goto" computer shop in otown. Very helpful. And reasonable prices too.

Purchased i7 PC at market price. Windows 11. The sales guy super helpful. Machine runs fine and quickly. Asked for after sales support, got help I needed.

Brought my laptop in for repair (no power). Although the cost of the repair was uneconomical to fix, the staff at PC room was kind enough to quickly backup my hard drive to an external hard drive and transfer the charge to service my computer to the cost of backing up my data from my laptop.
Would definitely recommend PC Room to anyone and come back again.signed Happy customer

Purchased a laptop here through Best Buy Marketplace. One of the keys was loose.

Spoke to a member of their team who said they would fix it and pay for shipping and replace key as was under warranty.

They answered every email I sent promptly.

Laptop was shipped out and returned in less than a week.

Would highly recommend this shop to anyone purchasing a computer.

Bought a close to new hp laptop from them, which was functioning perfectly until I had an issue with internet connection to the laptop.
The man who attended to me over the phone was super helpful, and issue was resolved in a speed of light. Thank you so much.

Worst $500 spent of my life.

Brought in my MacBook with liquid damage, they charged me $500, I got it back and the wifi didn't work. Battery needed replacing so I brought it in to another repair store and they told me they wouldn't repair it because PC Room left water damage in my computer.

Edit: Apparently I should have brought this back to them by somehow knowing that they left water damage in the machine? I will gladly bring it back now that I know they actively left it with water damage inside

I can't believe that they were confident and able to repair my laptop which uBreakiFix at Gatineau couldn't. 5/5!

Replaced the screen on my laptop in a timely manner at a very reasonable price. Very happy with the service and would recommend for laptop repairs.

Brought my macbook here after the screen completely went dark. It's good as new again and the service was excellent and quick. Will be back here for any future issues.

The PC Room really delivered. I was hesitant to buy a refurbished laptop as this was my 1st time going this route. A gentleman named Fouad helped me very efficiently when I called and explained what I was looking for. He helped me select the right laptops for my purpose. I needed to have the laptops shipped to Nova Scotia and after only six days they arrived in perfect condition; very well packaged and included all the specifications as promised. Overall excellent experience!

Had a rly good experience buying my laptop from here! Works great and it even has a backlit keyboard that i didnt even know about.the store looks kind of dingy from the outside (their graphic design looks like it hasnt been updated in 15 years) but they're nice guys and their prices are fair.i dont think ill buy a laptop from new again now that i know i can get an equally good one for hundreds of dollars less

They did the job well but the pricing process was very disappointing. Not transparent. Please set price before taking service. Service was not proactive.

I needed to replace my power supply and apply thermal paste to the motherboard and set the cooling unit. The repair person was busy so the other person asked him and said it will cost $45 for the first task. I asked about the second task, they said to bring back my CPU so they can estimate.

I called another company, who said the job will take 1 hour and cost about $80. I imagined PC room would be about 60 or 70 for the two tasks. So, I chose PC room.

When I took CPU and all the parts they said that they are busy. So, they asked me to keep the parts and everything there and said they will call me. I asked again about price, they said they will confirm it over the phone on Monday.

They didn't inform anything. When I called back after two days, it seemed like they had forgotten and then I was told that they'll call me tomorrow. Again I asked about price they said they'll tell me tomorrow.

Next day, they call me to say that the job is done and it will cost me $100!

When I went to their store they had my CPU ready and asked to pay me $113 total, with taxes. Again the repair person wasn't there, I was told that he was at his doctor's place and he will call me about the pricing issue when he returns. I didn't get any calls.

I said that they were supposed to call me before starting the work to fix the price. Why did they do it without confirming?

But they gave a blank look and said thge fee was actually $130, I was given a student discount. That's what the boss said who is now at the doctor's office. I had no more energy or time to argue and fuss over this so I paid and came back with my CPU.

This is my first PC service experience in Canada. And I don't know what to say. It took 6 days to do a less than 1 hour task and after hearing $45 (which made me choose them) I had to pay $113. Not to mention I had to go there 3 times.

The store person was nice and gentle. But the process wasn't good.

They fixed the PC but as I said, it was a disappointing service. The price isn't the issue, if they said 100 at the first meeting I could make a decision then. And also save a lot of time from the back and forth.

I hope they will be more transparent with their pricing and value the commitments they make. If you're considering them, I remind you again - be sure to set the price.

Excellent source for refurbished laptops and computers. I bought at least 4 laptops for my company and a couple computers and monitors for the past 3 or so years and have always been satisfied with the service and the cost of these machines! Super inexpensive for very good products! I don't intend on buying a brand new computer as long as I can get it at The PC Room!

This is my second time using refurbished laptops and I have nothing but good things to say about our interactions. I will happily use them again and would have no fears over recommending them to others.

So far the laptop seems in great condition. Only had it running for a few hours. However it's a refurbished Lenovo with touch screen and everything seems good. Like others I ordered before reading the reviews and when I did, I was thinking I had lost my money. However one phone call to confirm that they had actually got my order and in couple of days it has arrived. I’m so HAPPY, Thank you, PC Room!

The team here is great! I will recommend them for students or anyone new in Ottawa with computer problems. My computer died when I arrived Ottawa with my PhD exams two months ahead, they saved my life!

I brought my laptop in to get the keyboard replaced. They said they would take it in and look at it, giving me a quote for free, and then we could move on, taking no longer than 3 days start to finish. They didn't call me about the quote after two days so I called and they said they had already done work and that I had to pay for the work I hadn't ordered. Then, they informed me the part would be arriving late (not their fault), but for the next week, I had to call every other day because while they had updates, they would not keep me informed, even though they said they would (specifically, they said they would let me know when the part was on route, at the shop, and ready to repair, of which I didn't receive any calls). After the repair, the keyboard works great but now the mouse pad doesn't work super great, probably from the opening and closing of the case. Not happy overall, would not recommend. I don't think that this is a universal experience, but I speaks to how they are in less-ideal circumstances. If you are looking for repairs, go for someone more reliable.

I bought a refurbished laptop, on line, from The PC Room recently. Nicely packaged for shipping and it looks new! Very happy with my purchase.

Their website says they offer PC rentals, they have a form to request a quote and I had to call in a week later to find out no, in fact they don't actually do rentals.

I've had my PC for less than a year and had a list of problems. So frustrating, definitely suggest avoiding to shop here if it's going to be the same experience as mine with the piece of junk that I have.

Found The PC Room through BestBuy, found that they had an amazing selection of refurbished laptops at some of the most competitive prices I could find (the most).

I corresponded with them briefly as I had some quick questions with the computer I was getting and received fast and friendly responses.

I got what I wanted for the best price I could find.

Refurbished in my experience is paying half the price for the same product!

Strong recommendation for PC Room. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful service and good value for money. I bought an all-in-one computer a couple weeks before the pandemic but did not use it during the pandemic. When I returned to work, I discovered that there was a problem with the camera. I brought the computer back to the PC room and they gladly fixed the problem on the spot, free of charge.

Corrupt and disrespectful organization that will suffer great loses in the near future. A disgrace to the public and themselves.

I'm on my 3rd laptop from them.they keep giving me lemons! From drivers not installed to cracked copies of windows that give alerts every 2 mins.told us it wasn't an old computer when in fact it was over 9 years old.lies upon lies every time.go there if your looking to get ripped off.oh and now I'm still having issues with this one grrr

I bought a used laptop about a month ago and am very happy with my purchase and the process. They suggested the right laptops for my budget and helped me make a final choice. I would recommend PC Room to anyone looking for their next laptop.

Great experience at the PC Room! I brought in my Pavilion which has no user-replaceable battery. They took out the old bulging battery, noted that the hinge was also cracked, and suggested I use it only while plugged in. No charge! Would definitely go back again.

Good shop for used PC gear. I have purchased a laptop and desktop here and arranged a couple family members to purchase their laptops from the store.

My advice is to pick out the specific laptop or desktop you want. Note the serial numbers and buy that specific unit from them.

Given it's used equipment you may end up with issues but the staff have been very good about any issues I have had with the equipment and resolved them free of charge.

Was looking for a laptop with certain requirements, settled on a Dell M4800. PC Room had the lowest price of any dealer of refurbished models, the laptop was in good condition, and the service was quick.

Would recommend if you're in the market for refurbished business-quality laptops.

LISTEN UP FOLKS THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL SCAM, TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. BROUGHT IN MY IMAC 6 WEEKS AGO FOR A DISPLAY ISSUE. NEVER HEARD FROM THEM FOR FOUR WEEKS, I GIVE THEM A CALL THEY SAY YEAH YEAH WE ARE WORKING ON IT, ANOTHER 2 WEEKS GO BY NO NEWS CALL THEM AGAIN SAME RESPONSE. AFTER FOURTH CALL THEY SAY IT IS THE NEW MONITOR I BOUGHT THAT DOES WORK, WHICH WAS BRAND NEW. THEY NO SQUAT ABOUT TROUBLESHOOTING. BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU COMPLAINT COMING.

Great purchasing experience! I came in looking for a Dell Latitude but wasn't 100% sure that's what I wanted. They showed me some other laptops until we found the right one for me (ThinkPad T460S). Will definitely be coming back here for future laptop purchases.

I came in earlier today and I found a real gem. A 2015 MacBook pro in pristine condition. I've been wanting one for the past year and I came here after reading some of the reviews online. George is the nicest guy and he's s old school. He believes in the long haul of creating relationships that last by treating people well. Would definitely come back again.

I purchased a laptop online as an on sale item and unfortunately recieved a Grade B model rather than a Grade A model. The owner/manager was quick to apologize and offer an exchange or partial refund with warranty still the same as he agreed that I shouldn't of received this model. Glad to know that his customer service is great as nowadays no one has this anymore. Will do business in the future if/when needed hopefully I get 4 years out of this Yoga 12.

Just received my new-to-me Lenovo T460. I had to call George and tell him in person how impressed I was. Impossible to tell it is used. Great guy/company to deal with. Can recommend 100%

Excellent deals on off-lease Lenovo, HP, Dell laptops. These are business class machines, so they're built more solidly than consumer-grade laptops. And the owner is honest and fair. Don't be afraid to buy used, these are solid machines in good condition with plenty of life in them. They almost all come with SSD storage, which makes them plenty fast. Bought a T420s here back in 2015 and its still going strong!

I would not bring my laptop here again. I brought in my laptop for repair - the hard drive was fried. They were able to replace it quite quickly and return my laptop but then continued to "scan" my old hard drive to see if they could easily access the data. After days of "scanning", they stated it would need to be sent off to a forensic lab for a cost of $250-350. I took the "fried" hard drive to a friend, who took 30 minutes and a $22 part to access the data and retrieve it. I wouldn't be bringing my laptop here again. Total scam.

I have purchased a number of refurbished computers from here. Also, I have come in from time to time to get service. There service is excellent; often the problem is diagnosed immediately, on the spot.

Prices are reasonable and the expected results are reliable.

Terrible experience. Went there about a few months ago and purchased a laptop. It broke down within two weeks and their response tried to get me to pay more money. I would seriously advise against going.
