I made a hail claim for my roof following a big storm. Gennine was assigned for my case and provided me with all details in timely manner. I was able to get my fund released for the repair in a less than a week after submitting the estimate. I had a great experience for my first insurance claim. Thank you for your great service.

Worst company for vechile insurance. They canceled my insurance without any intimation. At the time of purchase they didn’t mentioned any other document. Later, they asked for additional document that too through mailing address. Their customer service is never help. DISAPPOINTED

Forced me on a very tight timeline to provide all kinds of information they already have through an OAF1, as it seems others have had the same problem with.

They won't accept it via anything else than physical mail, you can't email them in 2023.

You have to run around, print all kinds of documents on your own dollar, then send them these, on your own dollar, in hopes it makes it in time so they don't hurt your future insurance by causing a cancellation. Absolutely horrible service, and you should look elsewhere for your auto insurance. I was a paying customer for many, many years before this happened, without any issue. I had moved 2 years prior to this, so all the information was up to date, this should have been a non issue.

Terrible service. I had to call five times (over multiple weeks) to insure my new vehicle; went with the personal as my other two policies are with this company. The sent two insurance slips to our address with no reference to me the owner and primary driver. No effort to apologize sincerely for this mishap or identify the fact they are wasting my time. Extremely disappointed with the experience. I do not recommend this company based on my experience.

They are your best friends and family when selling you the policy but a mafia ultimately.they wont tell you half the things at the time of sale.sold me a home policy which i told them will be rented out but they failed to mention that they dont insure houses which have 3 unrelated tenants.they were happy to take my money for a month while the house was vacant but now they wont honour the quote they gave me for a house with people living in.and they happily sold me the policy with only me on the phone but to cancel, they need to talk to ALL the home owners.
Update to this review 3 days later.since they need to speak all homeowners to cancel, one of us called them to confirm this action but they never made these notes in their system.so they have no record of that conversation! And we have to do this process all over again.

Update as of July 14th for an existing insurance policy I have with them: totally useless customer care who dont know any details and aren't able to answer any questions properly. They tell you different things depending on who responds to your call. Totally frustrating. And when I asked to speak to the manager, they put me on hold for 10 mins and then disconnected the call.

After multiple interactions and follow up on my complex scenario where I cancelled my insurance coverage with my previous provider and wanted to move to Personal insurance. I knew what I was requesting was a unique situation however, after speaking to their service staff CHRISTINE. I was immediately made to feel that I was in safe hands and with her immense knowledge and patience she managed to go above and beyond my expectations from Personal and I was truly happy and grateful after a 90 minutes call with her where she educated me and also completed the entire process step by step providing me with the best solutions and advice. Great work Christine!

We opened our first claim after the September storm and still cannot get an update. Anybody we reach says we'll look into your claim and get back to you shortly, and we've been doing this for two months. Very disappointed snd I hope this helps somebody else if they're thinking of choosing The Personal.

Dealing with The Personal Group Insurance Company, has been the extremely exhaust and frustrating.the lack of patience, respect and professionalism have me regretting ever giving this company my business.the way the associate spoke and addressed me make it seem like I worked for them not the other way around, they gave me no support or options after no notification, that the document I submit for my insurance renewal was not adequate, allowing my insurance to laps and ultimately leading to the cancellation of my policy and leaving my vehicle uninsured.the worst part, when trying to reopen a new policy they quoted me a rate higher than my original rate and for me to provide numerous amount of documents that could take weeks to supply leaving me with no insurance and no means of transportation.

"Personally" avoid the headache and do not even consider "The Personal" as a viable options

Had a great chat with a technical advisory from The Personal - Jeriane was her name. She found a name mismatch on my profile, gave me a call to sort it out. This is just so, I get all the discounts and benefits while using the Adjusto app. A person who has taken accountability and ownership of the situation to WOW the customer! The Personal is lucky to have people like Jeriane working for them. The call and experience was very professional and one the best phone conversations I had. Any employer would be lucky to have you as an invaluable Asset!

I've called them twice in the past week and the customer service is great. Especially when contrasting trying to call your bank or cellphone company. I would stick with these guys in the future even if they cost a bit more than the competition (but they were actually cheaper, so go figure!)

We have had wind damage to our home and have had nothing but frustration dealing with this insurance company. I have never had poorer communication regarding every aspect of this claim which began 4 months ago now. Very disappointed and no resolution in sight.

Told me i can join for policy 450$/month Then after 2 months call them back and they will give me a ieee group discount of 340$/month which was only reason i joined there insurance policy without hesitation or doing other company quote inquiries. Now i tried to get group discount in insurance policy they asked for 700/month or stay with there old quote. What a rip off Thepersonal do not fall for there trick. Stay Away from them.

Pathetic service and very expensive insurance quote and staff is not up to mark.

He gave me quote 2 times more what other company gave me.

Very bad exp with company need to improve customer services hire some nimble customer serv people.

I’ve had my auto insurance with the personal for a couple of years now. When I’ve had to contact the company, I’ve managed to get through easily to speak to someone - they have always been personable, helpful and very friendly. Very pleased with the level of service and the cost of my auto policy. Definitely recommend.

The worst if you ever get in an accident. I got paired with an agent, Andrea Forster, who was unreachable, made even the smallest things such as getting a rental car, consistent communication impossible.

Not helpful at all, my repair shop and the rental car company were much better at dealing with issues created by the insurance company. Avoid at all costs or ask for a different agent

I was with this company for 5 years, no tickets accidents or claims, they suspended my insurance for
Not filling out the renewal forms properly (which I had never had to do for the first 5 years)

I sent these forms 3 times and each time they would say something was filled out wrong or missing, they will do this when they want to get rid of you,

There underwriting department is horrible and offers no help

I ended up going with sonnet insurance and it was actually half of what I was paying with the personal, they lost out on a good customer

Malik Waqaas doesn't even know simple telephone etiquette. He calls clients and doesn't leave his last name or his phone number on their answer machine. This means you can't return his call. He doesn't reply to emails he receives even though his voice mail says he's in the office. When I try to leave a message with someone else by pressing 0 when I call, a French-only voicemail comes on the line. In Western Canada, NOBODY speaks French, and since the French woman won't leave the message in both French and English, and deals with all of Canada, they should be disciplined or dismissed from their position.

The absolute worst insurance company ever. No one responds to you. I was in an accident where i was not at fault and they were absolutely horrible with everything. Do not recommend. Very disorganized, high turnover of staff, not worth any money. Better paying a bit more every year with a good insurance company.

Wish I could give negative stars. Worst experience ever dealing with them. The customer service is responsive when you have to get a quote or buy the insurance. But God forbid you need to file a claim, the adjustors are atrocious. After years of paying them, they bump the premium in a breeze. But when it comes to actually using insurance, it is unbelievably painful process. My adjustor won't even pick up any calls, won't return calls. And no reply to emails either.

I was involved in a crash that resulted in my car being totalled. I had many calls with the Personal starting while at the site of the crash. I was blown away by the professionalism and empathy I received. It was my serious accident, so I needed detailed instructions. Luckily I wasn’t injured in the crash, but I was called my a rep a few times to make sure no pain or injuries showed up later. I had several more calls to deal with the rental car, payment for my totaled car, and finally, new insurance for my next car. I don’t ever want to be in a crash again so I hope to never need their full services again.

Obtained a quote from their site, quoted it to the rep while finalizing the insurance and signed for it.on the first premium charge noticed a higher amount than what was quoted. Did not added any additional coverage or amount, but still i was charged a higher amount and still being charged. Called them and they said they will have to listen to the call to determine.a month passed none feedback from their team.called again, same feedback. They don't honor their own web quotes and rather like to listen to the conversation recording, great company policy. Shame on you.

I got rear ended about a MONTH ago, I submitted a claim right away.ive hade to bring the car into the body shop twice now and they still cant tell me if its a total loss or if they are going to fix it.

I've had to call them every time to see what is going on, they will never reach out too you.

Good luck if you want to get a Car insurance, you have to take pictures from your car, vin num. Pay 20$ carfax, and wait 3 weeks them to say yes or no. Lol. I got insurances from Johnson in 15 min.lol

Terrible system this insurance company has. I have been trying to submit the documents through email for two weeks but their system is not accepting it.if I miss a document, they wont ask for the missing document but all the documents again. You cannot reach any manager to ask or inquire.terrible experience. I regret why I even have home ins with them. Can't wait to change.terrible system and so annoying

I called customer service to see how much is cancellation fee and I was surprised when the customer representative told me that they don't have system that tells the perfect price for cancellation. They told that you have to pay 4-6 weeks of fees but though they were not clear, so I would say this is their policy to not provide the actual cancellation price to the customer so they don't loose the customers.horrible experience. Please make sure you check the cancellation policy before you buy insurance. I would not recommend The Personal Insurance.

Absolutely unprofessional company. I am physically unable to obtain documents to complete an Ontario application for auto insurance (extra paperwork that I was randomly selected for) because my vehicle is on a military base in a different province as I am on leave. I explained my situation and was rudely told that I need to end my vacation early and fly back to obtain the information required. I explained that this is not possible and they told me "too bad. " I get a letter today saying my coverage is being terminated as I refused to provide the additional information. A flight across Canada to get my vehicle's registration seems a little excessive and expensive. Unless you work a 9-5 job and have the luxury of living with your family the personal had no time for you. I am being treated as if I had lied/cheated when I have done nothing wrong. I will be telling friends/family/colleagues to avoid this company like the plague.

Been with The Personal for over 5 years until I got rid of my car a couple weeks ago. In the process if getting a new car and settled on a quote and submitted documents. It takes 14 business days to process a policy application which is way too long for me! My new car is ready to close and I cannot just tell the dealer to hold for another two weeks. I went with another company instead with relatively better rates. From what I hear about their claims process, they're slow, so no surprise they take long for new applications. No other insurance companies make you wait this long to get your policy started hence why they ask you when you would like to start you policy. It's backwards for The Personal, where you have to wait on them!

I’ve had the personal for around 10 years and they will not insure my child’s ATV (under 150cc) so we can have access to the local trails as this is against there policy this feels like a betrayal as they are only there to protect themselves

Paid the up front tenants insurance for a year. They spelled my name wrong twice on the documents. I didn’t realize that tenants insurance would also auto renew and had kind of forgot about it since I paid the whole year up front and wasn’t being charged monthly. Received an email before my insurance was ending about getting a quote but nothing about an auto renew. Received an email 8 days after my insurance already ended saying thank you for your auto renew and also called me by “Mr. ” (I am a woman). Would never be with a company who could be bothered to not only misspell my name multiple times but also misgender me, such an easy mistake not to make! Found an insurance company with the exact same coverage for $150 less a year. Not a company that cares about its customers.

Did not renew my policy based on forcing me to complete a total re-application via paper that contained some form of error they did not disclose (I tried very hard to not make any error, even had them walk me through filling it out on the phone). Always nice to have your insurer kick you on purpose without a real reason, relying on loopholes to remove you - since your driving record itself doesn't give them reason to. It felt "personal"

I wouldn't recommend this company at all. They are very inconsistent with the informationt they provide.
They pick and choose how the processes work depending on who you are and what agent you speak with.after being with this company for 11 years I can't believe they still don't have everything sorted out and the agents trained properly. I almost brought my home insurnace over to them and im so glad i didn't.

Got deceived by online quote that their official website is offering, and when I've got a call from the agent, my quote skyrocketed.
When I asked them why the online quote is not matching with their quote, the agent could not provide an explanation.
Still have not replied to me back on my other inquires.
Poor agents training, very unprofessional.

Worst ever customer care service, they will take two weeks for verifying your information and then ask for more documents to take 2 more weeks.they can't even recognize the company which is part of group insurance.no matter what quote they can provide, I would not consider to take the service from company with such a worst customer support!

Just spoke to Alfred in CS department, I need to store one of my vehicle for winter. He was able to provide different option, and guided me for the self-service online in the future instead of calling in every time.
This is the type of service I expect from my insurance company.

I have dealt with The Personal Insurance through my affinity group (CBA). I found them to be very professional and helpful. Including a replaced windshield and a replaced quarter panel on my truck. With respect to the latter, I dealt with Mr Lao who was exceptional. He directed me to Assured Auto and Enterprise car rental. The whole process was absolutely seamless. I was so upset about damaging my truck but the Personal took care of my truck and returned it in perfect condition. Very very pleased - with special thanks to Mr. Lao.

After 14 BUSINESS days waiting for my quote for car insurance (which is their std time), they requested additional documents, so I replied instantly. I followed up after a few days and they said that they needed a hard copy with ink signature of these documents. Both the additional documents and the hard copy sig l could have been requested right first time. My car has been parked for almost a month. If this is how efficient they process quotes for enrollment, i don't want to see how fast they process claims.

This is odd to review. On the one hand, I have knowledge from my dealings with them, but on the other I have no knowledge of what they are like if anything actually requiring insurance happens. But, based on my experiences with them and not needing their help, I can say I've been very happy. They have the best rates for me, far better than anywhere else. Also, the staff are all very nice. I always strike up a conversation with them. They are all from around Canada which is nice. Quotes take no time, and getting proof of insurance sent very quick too. I've been with them for almost 10 years, and I will never not be with them.

Excellent customer service very time I called. My first collision was fully covered (approx $2k of damage). My family has been with this company for many years, always very satisfied. I highly recommend this company and using their app on your phone to track driving behaviour which can save you up to 25% off the annual price.

As a customer since 2012, I am not happy with the personal any more. My premium increased $45 without any reason.
I called them before adding my second vehicle and I was told the premium is the same even $2 lower. Then, after 2 months for renewal they increased the premium.
The customer representatives are not as professional and respectful as they used to be. They do not tell you but implied that you can go to other companies if you like! There is no customer appreciation at all. I just wanted to share my experience; I hope that it helps you.

After 15 years of being a customer, I have to cancel two insurance policies with the company. Constant unexplained increases, now ridiculous cancellations fees, even though I had contacted them in time and had been promised there would be no such cancellation fees. As usual, their only explanation is that everything is in the contract and I have to have a proper-size magnifying glass and read everything very meticulously.
Started a case with a "manager", let's see what they come back to me with.

They provide discounted insurance to members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and being a veteran I was very interested in their service. They also provide specialized insurance which fits the lifestyle of a military person and their family — including replacement costs of your kit and uniform, and insurance on your home and it’s contents while your on a deployment.

I also like how they sent me a free leak and freeze detector, which will alert me on my phone if their is a water leak or the temperature drops enough to cause the pipes to freeze.

I just got my new policy, and did most of it online. So I haven’t had to file a claim or deal with their staff on the phone yet.

So far, I’m impressed. Inexpensive insurance for my unique needs as a veteran, and quick turn around time on getting that insurance policy.

Poor service. Staff is hit and miss on being courteous or knowledgeable. Very very Long wait on telephone calls. They invite you to use their website but that too is inefficient. Also bear in mind what you do online is not effective when you do it, they will hopefully you back to discuss it. Raises rates with little or no notice close to renewal.

They asked me to submit documents and I submitted the documents which they have asked for and after 15 days they are not telling me that I have query of missing documents and when I call them they told me that I have to submit my documents again and this time they have asked for different documents and they asked me for wait 14 more days. It is the best experience I have ever had with any auto insurance company.

Terrible! After tryin to add a high risk driver to my policy they cancelled me and listed me as a cancel without allowing me to get other insurance. They did not provide a proper letter of experience so gettin a policy was super difficult! Very unprofessional
