The Rec Room

Service was a little slow but our server apologized saying that they had a no call no show. Food and drinks were delicious. Really fun place and great views out of the floor to ceiling windows.

I went here with my friend for something to do during the day to kill some time and we had a blast. There is fun for adults and children! The bar area is big enough to handle busy times and I always had a drink in my hand. The selection of pin ball was cool and other random games. I was also happy to try their VR games! Fun times!

I've been a regular at the Rec Room for several years but only decided to write a review now. I mainly come here for the arcade games as I usually would rather eat elsewhere when it comes to lunch or dinner. So it's pretty much pointless to check my bags at the entrance for any food or drinks on me as I don't even plan on consuming their stuff even if I had an empty stomach, unless it's free or part of a promotion lol XD

They have a great selection of arcade games and my favourites are Down the Clown, Basketball, Pop the Lock, Crazy Tower, Hoopla, Quik Drop, and Grand Piano Keys as I can get jackpots on them frequently (or the highest score when it comes to Grand Piano Keys). They have a wide variety of prizes for redemption, such as MK, Kate Spade, and Coach purses/wallets, Nintendo Switch (as well as games and controllers), huge legos (i.e. Eiffel Tower, Bowser, Millennium Falcon, Iron Man, etc), Apple watches, Yeti bottles, Bose bluetooth speakers, Robot vacuums, etc. However, it's better to redeem them at the Mississauga and Barrie locations though.

However, there are several things they certainly need to improve on:

1) Their games break somewhat often and sometimes the employees are not even aware of it until I tell them about it. For example, on more than one occasion, one of the pegs on Hoopla wasn't registering the hoop that I had thrown and hooked onto it, which prevented me from progressing to the bonus round to get the jackpot. However, I didn't tell the employees about it and low and behold, the next time I went, it was still broken. This time, when I told the employee about it, he told me he wasn't even aware of the malfunction but that he will look into it. Then you have the Beanbag Toss game. Some months ago, the red hole wasn't working so it didn't register when you get a red streak bonus. Recently, the blue and green holes stopped registering the blue and green streak bonuses yet the red one is fixed. I suspect that the employees won't be aware of it unless we tell them. As for the Crazy Tower game, sometimes the game deducts your credits when you scan your band on it yet it fails to let you play, which results in you getting zero tickets but having 4 credits deducted from your band. Every time when this happens, I end up having to tell the employees about it so they can return the 4 credits to me. These are just some examples of the malfunctions and I really hope that they can be more diligent about fixing the games or even just have more frequent inspections on the games.

2) Whenever they close their WHOLE ENTIRE arcade for HOURS ON END for private functions, (step aside, arcade Gods and Goddesses! Make way for these.hmm what are they called again? XD) they don't have the courtesy to inform you via Instagram, Google, and/or their website. Instead, you only find out at the entrance via some sad looking notices/papers taped on the doors. They should thank Octo Zone for holding down the fort for them while they're in la-la land lol! XD

3) Some of the employees are clueless when it comes to processing their deals/promotions. One time, the employee took so long to process the deal on our band (40 min+) that it made me miss out on the chance to play the basketball game to get a jackpot of nearly 300 tickets. So not cool = (

4) The downtown location is a lot less spacious than the Mississauga and Barrie locations so sometimes people will shove past you while you're playing a reflex/reaction/timing game that requires deep concentration such as Pop the Lock and Crazy Tower. Surely there are ways to better organize their machines, such as opening up the back room (and think tetris! XD).

5) Even though they already have a wide selection of games and redemption items, it doesn't hurt for them to get some more such as Strike it Rich, Gear Up, etc. As for the redemption items, it would be nice if they can get some kitchen appliances or some other practical items in addition to those they already have.

The service was good, food was okay. It is kinda noisy which I guess is expected given that the game arcade is there. Nice selection of games I think that would enable one to have a great time.

This place is a lot of fun! It's right by the CN Tower. There's food (though pricy), drinks (with free refills if non-alcoholic), lots of games, and lots of prizes. There are various events held here too; I read something about K-pop concerts coming up every so often.

This restaurant has changed. And not in a good way. The waitress took forever to come to us (party of 5), then took our drink order. When lime was requested with a drink she brought a lemon instead, then when questioned, she promptly blamed the kitchen staff, who don't even make the drinks. She had no idea what any of the food was, when asked for the hottest wing flavor she said sweet heat.so that was ordered, and turned out to be similar to sweet Chilli Thai sauce, there was no heat whatsoever. One person at our table had a side salad, to which the waitress said they don't serve salad dressing at the restaurant. We asked for something similar to basalmic vinaigrette, and she brought a bowl of plain white vinegar.
The jalapeño poppers were not cooked, the food was cold and basic lack of hospitality from the waitress was awful. We asked for a discount on the wings, since we were advised incorrectly, and she said "it's your fault, next time order sauce on the side. We aren't giving you a discount"
This used to be my go-to eatery when in T. O.but I won't be returning here after this experience.

First bad review I've ever posted the asian guy is rude as hell omg. Never been treated like this. Be aware and ask for a new server

Had a great time here at the Rec room tonight. Our server Kim was very friendly and polite. Or did was great then we enjoyed some fun in the games area.

First time coming to this location and it did not disappoint. All the staff were very helpful and kind. Enjoyed the buffalo chicken poutine and won a decent prize!

Faced discrimination from the security supervisor at the entrance and denied entry on unreasonable grounds.
Didn’t expect this behaviour from an establishment like Rec Room. Very disappointing. No refund either, spent almost $300.
Unfortunately didn’t catch the name of the lady but I have emailed requesting an inquiry into the matter, no reply yet tho.

Service and atmosphere are good

Rec room has it all. Food, drinks, games. In the heart of the city. Great staff.one bartender Dil "Skillz". She is by far the greatest bartender I've ever encountered.that starTender. She was absolutely fabulous. 5 stars to her. Tip your bartenders n servers.it's 2023 we all depend on our servers these days

Horrible service at the bar.bartender doesn't even acknowledge ppl at the bar! People are getting frustrated for service.
It's a Blue Jays game and we need to eat before we go to the game!
Improve your service, I was better off going to Real Sports

Tons of fun for a guys/girls night out or for the whole family. Ice cold beer, good food and reasonably priced games. Totally recommend!

Great place for groups, parties or date night. Lots of fun games, cute prizes in the end, Decent drinks. Do not recommend the food but love the vibe and experience here.

The games were fun but when it came to the restaurant service, it was horrible. The waitress was too busy talking to her friends so it took a really long time to order and receive our food. She also forgot that we asked for chicken on the nachos and did not offer to replace it. Instead, she brought out some microwaved looking chicken on the side. It didn't help that the food was expensive and didn't taste that great. I didn't tip her a lot but she deserved nothing tbh. The restaurant wasn't even busy! DON'T GO FOR THE FOOD, just go for the games.

Lots of games, unfortunately during our visit some of the ones we wanted to play were closed for a private event. A bit disappointing, but of the ones we played we had a lot of fun

You have 2 options: a 5.5$ bracelet or a card. Both do the same thing. The cashier didn’t tell us about the latter and charged us for the bracelet. We found out later when one of our friends received a regular card (no charge). This is completely unethical. I’m certain Rec Room can find another, more transparent way to cover covid costs instead of scamming its customers.

I brought my family for lunch, sat at a comfy table inside, scanned the menu attached to the table only to find out you can only order a very limited menu inside called "The Shed" menu. Nothing appealing on there for kids and I was not allowed to purchase pizza inside. I'm outside with two kids who don't like the heat (staff were nice enough to find us shade however). Please make your food ordering experience and menu selection inside better. A pizza doesn't take longer to eat than munchies on the bar list so what's the reason? Won't rush back for lunch.

Be aware that due to staffing issues table service for food is separate from the indoor games, regardless of any reservation you may have made. However, the manager did allow us to go inside for games after we ate. Bartenders very friendly even though short staffed. Kids had fun playing games while parents hung out at bar. Last call came too early at 9pm.

I tried to come here twice at night time and both times I’ve been rejected entry. First excuse was they were short staffed and could not let us in, second time they said they don’t allow people in after 11: 30.it was one minute past 11: 30 when I got there. Something seems sketchy here… I’ve never come across a rule like that it is as if they are making up their own rules. I wonder what they will say to us next time.

Had an amazing time with the help of Jizelle. She was super informative and helpful. She also provided exceptional customer service that only added to the run and effective service we received while managing covid limitations.

Overall pretty great place but the selection of games is small and the pay model is outdated. It's annoying to pay so much to have a 2 lap Mario race lol like not even standard three laps.

All staff were nice. We were quiet late for our patio reservations, but fortunately they were able to give us a table. We both ordered Mac n Cheese and they were really delicious! They look small in portion but they really make you full! Also, the atmosphere and view was really nice and enjoyable.

This place is insane - booked a reservation and arrived on time to an empty patio. Asked to be seated in the shade and was told no - the other table is also reserved (for the same time) and they had not arrived. Then was told our kids could not go in and play because our reservation was for the patio and all the non- reservations would use the inside capacity - stupidity

Absolutley will not return! Would not recommend

My teenage son loves this place! We visited a couple of times over the summer and it wasn't too busy during the weekdays. Food was a disappointment as it was very greasy but we still had a good time. Would definitely go back but probably not dine there.

Food was ok. Drinks were mediocre. The Bud Game day experience is not worth it as you have to sit in bucket seat chairs with no table and as soon as the game is over they ask you to leave to take everything apart even though you are still eating or drinking the stuff you ordered.

I typically do not write negative reviews and am very understanding when it comes to service. However, the service was absolutely terrible. It was my friends birthday and we had a reservation on 7/9/2021. To start off, we arrived at 9: 30 pm and our table was not greeted until 10: 20 pm. Meanwhile our server stopped at the table beside us at least 3 times before we even got greeted. The server came by and apologized, and we understood. We ordered drinks and appetizers. However, the server completely forgot our drinks and came by 20 mins after taking our order and said "You didn't order drinks right? " This was very disappointing. I then told the server that it was my friends birthday and requested a piece of cake with a candle. After we finished our food we had asked the server for another round and waited an additional 30 mins to only get the server to come back and say "Last call is now would you like to order something? " At that point we were frustrated by the whole experience and just wanted to leave so we asked for the bill. The cake never came and the entire experience was awful. Overall, the food was good, but due to lack of service we will not be returning. This was very disappointing as we were planning a special birthday celebration. I would not recommend the Rec Room (Maybe for the arcade when it opens)

I've been here several times but this most recent one (indoor) was the worst. You'd think that during Covid they'd take measures to ensure a smooth reopening but nope! The process to get a table is long, convoluted and inefficient. The process to get food is similar. This probably made sense in their heads but didn't translate to the customer experience.

This most recent visit was during off peak hours and there was a lot on confusion on the part of my party and there was inconsistency on the processes been the servers themselves! On a busier day it wouldn't be hard to imagine this place being an absolute circus.

Food is slightly overpriced for the quality that you get too.

P. S.during Covid you cannot reserve tables inside.

No idea why I’m writing this review other than to tell people to AVOID this bar. Especially on game days, ironic right?

It’s a novelty. It’s overpriced and the service is terrible. Took 45 mins to get A DRINK. So many better bars/eats in the area with a much better selection of drinks and beers at better prices.

Josh was great and I feel bad giving 1 star because he was alone serving a whole patio by himself, but that is a management issue and I am not impressed. Managed to get 1 beer in a whole hour lol.didn’t even bother ordering food.

Definitely will not be coming back.

Games r fun and staff here are super nice. I was playing the zombie roulette and got 5 letters 10 mins before rec room closes. They were suppose to wait until the end of the day to reset the machine but a staff still helped me to put the final word in the machine. Got the jackpot 2 min before closing! Great experience

Reasonable wait time great clean place with good food and drinks all the games are in great condition highly recommend this for family during the day and adolescents at night

It's been a while since I've been to the Rec Room. Expect to be greeted by its friendly staffing and mediocre drinks menu. Gives you the "Stranger Things" vibe with its Arcadey goodness, reasonably priced tickets, though still expensive imo, and quite frankly brings out the child in you with so many games to choose from.

Pro tip: Don't aim for tokens unless you're there with a group and can possibly combine those hard earned points to trade at the gift shop.

Every time I come to this location there is always a problem with the staff who work the dining (late food, cold food, poor service, and just many issues in general - this was all pre-covid). I don't eat here anymore, but we do go for the games! Lena the supervisor for the games is awesome. It's nice to see senior staff be hands on the floor.

The Games are great and really fun, but won't be eating there again. The food is less than average and the chocolate cake that I ordered took so long and it was burnt. And.they didn't accept Scene points!

Very bad, I wouldn't give even 1 star. The receptionist girl is too rude. This place is not user friendly. Not recommended, there are much better place than this around.

Amazing place. Amazing food. Great drinks. The perfect place for sure! If you’re planning to go I’d strongly suggest booking in advance.

Spacious patio and very good service. The team is doing a good job in complying with COVID safety protocols. Loved the shareable nachos. The Three10 burger was decent.

4.5! They’re open again for patio seating which is great. They have a nice patio with lots of room and the tables are well distanced from one another. It’s a cool spot. Their fried mushrooms were delicious. The Caesar salad I ordered was subpar, seemed like the lettuce had seen better days. And the Caesar (drink) I ordered was also meh, was definitely lacking a little something. Oh and their shareable pitcher is so not enough for 4 people. Maybe 3 if you’re stretching it but I’d say 2 people should share 1 pitcher. But otherwise the service was great, and their washrooms are very clean. Would recommend for a patio lunch or dinner if you’re more interested in a spot to hang out than quality food.

Standard experience. This is like others in terms of offerings and options. This is a fun spot for meeting with friends and having a meal. Good for kids and large groups and things like get togethers. Maybe missing some staff for faster service but overall it's the sorta food you would get a bps or earls but you have an arcade and tons of screens.

This location is prime and rec room is a lot of fun for games. They have so many arcade games all layed out in a large space so getting around isn't packed. There are a few bars all around and a restaurant. The restaurant isnt amazing. The food is ok for the price.

Covid has everything closed besides the washrooms. The patio was nice, the view of the CN Tower and the Roundhouse Park is awesome. Love it. I recommend it for the experience and location.

I booked a table for 3 without any option to choose beside heater or not and when we arrived they had several free tables beside heaters but we are seated on a bench where the heater did not work!
We wanted to change our place and they said all the other tables are reserved while during 2 hours that we were there, no one came for those tables!

We had our wedding after-party at The Rec Room and it was a blast!

- Met with Zachary Miller, one of Cineplex's event organizers, who was incredibly accommodating and helped us think through our event
- Minimum $5k spend on the venue, which we put towards game wrist bands, drink tickets and a make-your-own-poutine station
- We had the first two lounge/couch spaces at the party room in the back, which the team cordoned off for us. A DJ played all night and kept the dance floor exciting
- Staff was friendly and efficient, drinks were great, food was delicious
- Arcade games had a solid range from casino-type slot machines to racing simulators to shoot-em-up games and a couple of pool tables

Overall, we were all kept busy by the options of games, dancing and snacking, it was such a fun night! 11/10 would have an after-party here again!
