The Riverview Lodge

We've hosted two Northern culinary experiences with the Riverview Lodge this past year. Through partnering with the chefs, we created a menu rooted in sustainable, local, and seasonal ingredients. Each dinner was able to celebrate the local farmers, fishers, forages and artisans who can bring such food to the table. We couldn't thank the staff enough for their commitment, dedicated and leadership in making these events possible!

We stayed at the Riverview Lodge for one night in Dryden. We did not try the restaurant but it seemed busy! As for the room…I wasn’t super impressed for the price. We got the deluxe room which comes with a jacuzzi tub, but the jacuzzi tub was quite old (I would say from the 80s maybe). The bathroom was not the cleanest, and the whole room did seem quite dated. All of this would have been redeemable had we been able to have a good night sleep. Unfortunately, we discovered during the night that the walls are extremely thin and could hear the people in the next room sneezing, talking, laughing, etc. The air conditioner also didn’t seem to work properly- it was set to 20C when we got there but seemed much warmer. Then during the night it became FREEZING in the room. When we checked the air conditioner, it said said it was 16C! This did not allow for my 5 month old to have a good sleep as it was way too cold.

Unfortunately, although the lodge is a cool concept, we would not stay here again.

Loved the experience and food here. Possibly the best restaurant in Dryden. Has retained heritage structure and the rooms are absolutely amazing.

Stayed with the family in two different rooms. The hotel is a historic building and has character. Dinner was delicious. Mostly, ai appreciate Mohit's help in reception after ai forgot an important personal item. He was courteous, professional, and helped me by sending the item by courier to my home. I am very thankful for that.

Error on reservation, Mgr wouldn't give me last room for the same rate as I booked. Had no choice to pay 50$ per night more than I booked.

This place was likely beautiful in the 80's but has not been maintained. Found an ear wig in the bathroom. Also no wheelchair access at this place at all. Also the pulpmill is right across the river so not a great setting.

The Riverview has some old charm that takes you back to the 1970's. That being said, the mattress was from the same time period. I have had a better sleep on an army cot and a sleeping bag. Friendly staff and larger rooms don't make up for the main reason for getting a hotel which is sleeping. The room was clean and everything except the mattress was good.
This location is NOT wheelchair friendly. There are concrete stairs to get into the front door, not is there an elevator to get to the rooms.

Just checked out of the lodge. We have been there many times over the last 25 years and nothing has changed. The once beautiful log building is showing wear with plaster chunks on the carpet, the glass tops dirty with handprints, and earwigs sharing our room. The insect was brought down to reception and the person behind the desk said “we’ve been having trouble with those”. When checking out the owner replied this was the first time but thought nothing of it. He begrudgingly gave a 20.00 discount. Go for the food. Don’t stay the night. Cleanliness is maybe a 5 out of 10

Very cool spot. Takes you back in time a bit, almost like a heritage building. Room was very clean, and the staff was warm and welcoming. Would go back for sure.

Employees complained about the kids being loud and it was during the day kids were in the rooms being excited after we checked inn with getting 5 hotel rooms.

Excellent food. Great service. Visit there at least once a month. LOVE the prime rib dinner.

Very good food, good room services. I would recommend this place to everyone i know! Plus, the beautiful rustic part of the hotel is 120 years old, its definitly a must! I would like to say a big thank you to all the people who was there to give us everything that we needed! Amazing place.

Our stay at the lodge was unpleasant, we had the people above ours very loud, the floors are very thin so we could hear the people above us with every step, jump and even conversations and at one point, they were howling because of a soccer or basketball game or something.we had called the receptionist about 5-6 times to let the people above us to keep it down.and they didn't stop until 1 am.
The lodge should have thicker walls and floors/ceilings for people to take their freedom to make noise to a limit. It's not the staff's fault, but our stay there was a disaster. The pillows werent the best and we dodnt sleep a wink. The bar and restaurant were cozy and very cute/cabin-like. We spoke to the manager and told him about our stay and we got a 20$ refund. I personally think we should have been given back at least 50% as we did not sleep a wink due to the noise and discomfort of the pillows.

I chose The Riverview Lodge for my 50th birthday celebration, and was so glad I did! My husband and I are from the area, and back in the day we enjoyed celebrating major milestones at this legendary location, and I thought it would be a great throwback experience. We invited our parents and had an excellent meal - great wine, appetizers, main course and dessert was all spectacular. The service was impeccable and the ambience superb. Love that the owners have preserved the history of the building and the stories of the origin. Keep up the great work - this place is a gem.

If you are staying in Dryden and wish to dine in style, River View Lodge Restaurant [Dining room] is a great option. It has a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. I have dined here five times, and the food is always served on time. A classic French onion soup and prime rib are always a good choice, but for something a bit more adventurous, try Escargots [Burgandy snails]. You may also finish off your meal with their homemade ice cream [the flavors change from time to time, so please inquire]. A typical appetizer costs 15 dollars and a main entree costs 30 dollars.
