The Royal Oak - Barrhaven

Wing Night! Used to go every single Monday and some Wednesday’s. Stopped for a month. Went last night and was greeted by a lady who requested our ID (with a big pinch of attitude). Me and my friend respectfully told her we don’t have ID but we’re not drinking, just here for wings!

She then goes on to give some more attitude and tells us we can’t be there and to leave immediately.

Unsure if their management has taken over, but as a regular I will NEVER go back to the Barrhaven Location.

@ Management, if new, do better.

Great hidden breakfast gem in Barrhaven, minus the noisy usual weekend crowd you'd see at other breakfast/brunch locations! Nice patio, friendly staff.

The Oak is a great place for a nice supper or just a snack and a drink. The staff are friendly and the food is great.

Nachos were meh, beer was warm. Prices were absolutely ridiculous. Might as well go to a quality restaurant with a view of something better than Strandherd Road if we are going to spend $100 on nachos and a couple of drinks.

Great place to bring your friends or family for lots of finger licking good food. Staff was friendly and we left a generous tip.

This was an awful experience. We went here for lunch and by minute 55 we asked for our order to go because we still hadn’t gotten our food. It took 30 mins just to get our beer and water brought to us. We had an incident were the beer spilt all over we had other customers helping us because no staff was found. The food was really good which is such a shame because the service and entire experience was so horrible we will not be back. The server seemed barley apologetic for the entire experience, no effort was made on anyones behalf to correct the situation. Just overall would not recommend

Very good food and service. Way, Way overpriced though.
Love it when there is a live band.

My husband and I recently moved to Ottawa and went out this evening with a coworker friend of his for drinks. It was great but would've been better if the kitchen was closing but oh well we will be back though

Mike is the best.this is our go to place for drinks and hanging out. The food is great I love the Antojitos here and if I haven't mentioned it already go on the days Mike is there.you will have the best time of your life:)

I've been coming here for 8 years. I'm a business owner who's business has been decimated over the past 2 years with government lockdown mandates. I lost 80% of my business and those who lost nothing thought it was a good idea to poke fun at us.

Tonight was comedy night. They had a ball making fun of those of us who lost our businesses and those who supported freedom. They actually mocked freedom. If it wasn't for us citizens fighting for freedom and taking rubber bullets to our bodies, you wouldn't be up there on stage doing your pitiful act right now!

Had the crispy chicken sandwich and the chicken was way overcooked, almost burnt. Couldn't eat it. Advised the waiter and all I got was a "sorry about that".

I got there for wings night. Pretty good deal for the ratio price/quality. The staff is friendly which is always a big plus

EZ is great. Always friendly and attentive. Good support of teams anda good atmosphere after your game. Food is good, especially the wings.

My sister and I decided to come by for a few drinks last evening. When we got there, we were welcomed with smiles and told to sit wherever we would like. Our waitress (I didn’t get her name, but she was a slim female with her hair in a tight bun) was beyond amazing! She made sure our drinks were full, and even though it got busier and busier as the night went on, she always made sure we were taken care of. By the end of the night, it was very busy and all the staff held their composure and made sure everyone was satisfied. I hope their bosses know how great their employees are!

It’s always a pleasure to be at any royal oak but what’s special about barrhaven is Mike making our dining experience the best it can be

Ordered the wing special. One pound of medium wings and one pound of honey garlic wings. Both were excellent and I recommend you try it!

Good food, great hosts. When I think of a pub I imagine here. Vegan friendly, that's bonus points

$20 for a plate of basmati rice and 4 microscopic pieces of chicken and no flavour was very disappointing.

Always top shelf for pub atmosphere. Even with the situation they have a nice full menu, great servers.

Definitely 6 stars! You know how this goes. If you like the place it gets 5 stars. Even if it's not great!? !? This place is 6 star worthy. Lobster Poutine was yummy and the beer fresh and cold. Great service and plenty of options on the menu. We'll definitely be back and soon!

Doing a good job looking after COVID. Tables separated from everyone. Just needed a good hamburger fix

We were really disappointed by our visit tonight. This is mid-COVID, the bar is shoulder to shoulder with customers. The tables are separated, which is good as it meant we had no neighbours within two meters. But the bar itself was packed.
I also saw customers going to the washroom with no masks even though unless actually seated, you should have a mask. The waitress seemed disinterested in us, we were sat by the kitchen and could see our food waiting under the hot lamps, and could see the cook ringing the bell *many* times. Eventually the manager brought our food as the waitress was too busy talking to another customer to actually serve us. The food was really good, I would have liked more but the quality is excellent.
Will we be back? Not sure. Maybe post-COVID, and maybe when the waitress actually pays more attention to other customers.

Got 2 quite burnt burgers, definitely won't go for the burger again unless they proved otherwise

Quite enjoyed myself here. Typical pub style mixed with suburbia.
I had butter chicken - can’t complain, it was decent. Plenty to choose from on the menu.
Beer was cold. Good selection.
Service was fantastic! Quick and friendly.
Washroom was clean.
Overall great for food and beer.

For January 2020 they have a two-for-one special on fish and chips. It was delicious and the service was very good

Down graded to 3 stars, they have gotten not picky cheep.
- they charge for beer samples, I could see it if someone asked for many samples but it's just cheep to charge for one sample
- and they would rather throw out food fun let you take home an unfinished half price appetizer

Solid burgers. Great spot for a pint. Good atmosphere. Live music was nice. Service was below average. I think the server was hampered by too many customers.

Visited for beer & wings on a Friday evening. Food was good, ambiance was good but service was not up to the mark guess they need to get more staff for the crowed evenings.
Update: went there again and service was much better so upgraded the review to 4

The wait staff are friendly and efficient. We go for trivia on Wednesday nights at 7: 30 and it is always fun.

Excellant service, large menu choice plus local craft beer selection and special event days through the year.

Nice place but terrible service. 4 guys out for Friday night drinks and we saw our server twice in 2 hours. Could have had a bigger tab if they'd just come and see our empty glasses!

I've been to the Royal Oak in Barrhaven a number of times. The food and service has always been good. This Royal Oak, like the others in Ottawa, have a lot of dark wood finishes which given the pub an old fashioned, classic and comfortable vibe perfect for hanging out with friends for drinks.

Always a good time. Great service, decent beer selection, and delicious food. Will definitely return for the pub experience.

This is a great place to eat, service is good and the prices are right. I detest high priced restaurants with only so so food who try to make it on ambience. The food must always come first and this place delivers.

I realized how busy it was on Canada Day as we arrived but the tall young lad that was running around from table to table grabbing tips but leaving tables still dirty. I ask if I could get a cloth for our table he brings me a napkin from another dirty table and says here.yikes.check please

First time I have ever been to a Royal Oak. I was impressed by the cocktails and the food. Good service and great atmosphere. I will be back.

Went with our softball team after the game, brought my son. We ordered a soft drink and ice cream sundae. Took about an hour for the sundaes which only came after we complained and never got the drinks at all. The one good thing was we got free nachoes for the team, having no drink and eating jalapenos wasn't overly pleasant

Server was very friendly and attentive - food great as well. Pub was quiet - perfect lunch outing!
