The Royal Oak - Wellington at Hinton

Was really great! The nachos were well built and good value. The garden salad was fresh. Bloody Caesar was well mixed. Service was fine. My only complaint is that the French Onion soup was a bit boring - the broth needs some work.

Was a busy night but found a table for two and had a very yummy dinner. The menu has a lot of good choices with more modern fare as well as classic pub favourites. Service was timely and good despite being pretty packed. Busy and a bit loud though. Pub is nice and new but there did not appear to be any quiet corners to hide in. Great if you want a vibrant night out though!

Great place to meet with friends for food and drink. Great beer menu and lots of choices. The pub food is always quite good.

Server was nice, no more Keith's on tap, cauliflower bites I prefer to be cooked to a softer texture, and the chipotle dip for the sweet potato fries was more like a chipotle bbq that doesn't go well with sweet potato fries.

Good reliable place. Used to be a regular place when I worked nearby. Still a good reliable place for a pint and a meal.

Last minute choice to go for dinner here with two friends. All of us had mobility devices. The indoor space is a bit small to comfortably seat multiple parties if they include folks with mobility devices. Was expecting push plates at the door and there aren't any. Needs some at both the entrance and washrooms. Food and entertainment were great. Needs a little more accessibility.

Really had a great time visiting with friends. The atmosphere was lively and fun, and lots of places to sit. Service was excellent. The wait staff mixed up my order because the place was very busy, but fixed it quickly and I was able to enjoy the rest of my evening. Beer selection is good, bathrooms are clean and well lit. Overall, just a nice place to enjoy spending some time with friends.

I was out for a one hour lunch break from work, and we waited 1.5 hours to be served! Very unlikely I will ever visit again.

Absolutely disgusting. Fish and chips had more grease then fish. Over priced greasy garbage. Mcdonalds would have been a better option and that says alot. Wouldnt recommend, will not return. Will advise everyone I speak to to steer clear from here.

Such friendly staff and a great vibe, we enjoyed a later Saturday lunch and the food was delicious. Highly recommend for good pub food in a relaxing environment.

Food was tasty and the service was great! We interacted with multiple servers throughout the evening and all of them were very friendly. There was a small mistake on our order and they went above and beyond to fix it, which was totally unnecessary but very appreciated! Thank you

Came here with some friends and it was a nice experience. We got the fish tacos, chicken quesadillas, and veggie burger. Overall the experience was great, food was great and would come back again.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and it’s really a wonderful place. Fantastic comfort food with great vegetarian and gluten free options. And really tasty virgin drinks! The staff are so friendly and the service is fast, even when it’s really busy. And, best of all, they are wheelchair accessible!

The location has horrible sound acoustics. The inside is a big echo chamber which is extremely loud. People talking over each other trying to have a conversations. A very unpleasant experience if your not into the louder then normal pub scene. Such a simple fix guys put up some dampening like wall mural carpets or anything that stops the echoing.it’s like a big tin can.

Fantastic as always. Had a small problem with one meal but it was quickly rectified. Our server great. She was busy but kept an eye on us and made sure things were good. Always happy when I leave. Thanks!

Short pints slow service

Spent the afternoon there yesterday with a friend sat there for over 3 hours had 7 pints then cut off and basically told to leave.
I was sober polite and courteous to my server not causing any trouble just having a conversation. I told him I'm not driving but its obscene to be kick out. I'm 62 years old and never in my life been cut off from anyone. Not happy will never return.

I regret I can't remeber the waiters name with the Rolling Stones face mask but he was a Gem and would recommend anyone go there. Treated me and the wife very well

Fish and chips were amazing! Beer batter. Haddock. Generous portions. Well seasoned. Crispy! Lots of condiments. Lemon, vinegar, napkins, ketchup. Great tarter sauce. Gravy was ok. Will post photos! Would recommend

Kit the general manager is top notch. Matt the bartender knows his stuff. Can’t wait to come back here again. Hopefully next time I can bring my family!

This pub is around the corner from our office. It is our go to spot. Great service from a team that knows our names, and treats us right every time.

The manager working tonight REALLY knows how to make people feel good! We placed a pick-up order but had car trouble on the way. We called the Oak to let them know. The manager told us to re-send the order through Skip the Dishes and he'd start over again because he didn't want to send old food! That was already impressive. But we couldn't find zucchini on the online menu, so we left it off. When the order arrived, the zucchini was there, with a note: "it's on us". Beyond impressive!

Nice staff, excellent burgers - great char on the burger! Also, patio seating well spaced apart.

Staff were very pleasant.
Food was ok. Drinks were ok.
Wasps were ridiculous though. Patio needs a screen or something. Would not go back without one.

Wow, worst Moscow Mule I've ever had. Vodka, lime and a huge amount of ice, with an ounce of ginger beer!? $12, never going there again.

A great atmosphere, a lovely food menu and friendly staff. It was Burns Night last night and they had a bagpiper playing and they gave out samples of haggis. I'll definitely be going back.

Could have had a bit more sides. But the Steak was worth every penny.

Not much to say, it's your typical large franchise pub with reasonable beer and food. It's pretty pedestrian and given the neighbourhood, your'e bound to find better options if you're willing to take a short walk along Wellington. Still, it's a reasonable choice if you've got a group that is price sensitive or and not too fussed about an interesting food menu.

Good lunch. Tacos were good inconsistent sizing. 1 had tiny piece of fish. Salsa was good. Busy place at lunch. Service was excellent.

Our server was awesome, but unfortunately the food was way below par even for a pub. We return two plates of food and when they replace them those two plates were returned as well. I don't think we were being overly picky but the food was way overcooked for four of us and we were a party of six. I'm not one to leave negative reviews but if you are the owners please be aware that for every person that complains there are 10 people that don't complain to you but tell their friends and word-of-mouth advertising is the best form of advertising. It's a great little spot and I recommend you go and I hope you have a better experience than we did.

The Friday fish was good although the piece was perhaps a bit smaller than I expected. Service was ok but they need to pay attention better if they're going to have a "seat yourself" approach.

The bartender that I've most often had the good fortune of being served by is Corinne, who is as knowledgeable about the bottles behind the bar as she is forgiving of me accidentally having thought her name was Karen for the last 5 or so years.

Service was fast and good. Seems to have a number of regular customers and they appeared to get along very well with the bar person. Prices we're in line I would say with other Royal Oaks in the city. I didn't try the food here this time but I've had it at other Royal Oaks and it is fine.

Not worth a penny, staff seemed lazy, we did seat ourselves as the sign indicated but it still took at least 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. We were in plain sight too. Great patio but do not sit out there is you would like your meal in a timely manner. I ordered a beer and it had clearly sat at the bar for far too long as it was an inch and half short of any head. Ordered food which came out pretty mediocre and without the brie cheese, and at this point I did not care to complain as I only saw the server twice. Once to drop off menus and take our drink order then food order, someone else brought over the food, so I figured what was the point. Had to go inside to get the bill, paid at the bar and left and all the servers were standing by the kitchen talking. No wonder the food and drinks didn't come out that great. Would not go back. Especially since there are so many other restaurants and pubs in the area to go to with much better staff and food (and the food is far too pricey for the quality). I would try other places first before ever going back.

Great little spot to hang on the patio. Food tends to be pretty solid here but I have had the misfortune of some lower quality food prep in the past. Modest bar rail with decent options.

Came and ordered their current burger special, the bad boy buckaroo burger. The toppings didn't really complement eachother, and having both raw red onion, and "caramelized onions" (they weren't actually properly caramelized) was a lot of onion on the burger. The patty itself tasted a little burnt. Also, an extra $2.50 to add Caesar salad as a side instead of fries, for the tiny portion size given, was absurd. Service was about average.

Overall, wasn't impressed and wouldn't recommend.

I was insulted there today. I ordered a salad. Avocado in the salad was completely ROTTEN. I complained about that, and they replaced it with ripe avocado. It was so ripe that I wonder how they managed to cut it at all. When the waitress asked me how it is now, I honestly said that I'm still not happy with the avocado as is very hard, but it's OK. I thought to myself, at least it's not rotten so I can leave it aside on the plate. The waitress said that she will talk to the manager and maybe they will take it out of the bill. I agreed. I still ate the salad, didn't finish though, because I wanted just to spend my time with my friend who I came with, and I didn't want to replace it with another dish because I wanted something light, and there's not many options. There were some guys sitting next to us, and one of them started asking questions about what happened. I explained to him, and also I mentioned that in some places, if something is wrong on the plate, if it's not how it's supposed to be, they chef redoes the whole dish, not like he takes something rotten from the salad and replaces it. After those guys left, the waitress came to us and said that that guy told her that I came here for free food and she doesn't want to deal with it and here's my bill with no reduction. I was SHOCKED and I couldn't take that INSULT. The friend of mine simply got furious. We wanted to talk to the manager, but she said that the manager is not there, even though she said before she's going to talk to the manager about the avocado. First of all, it wasn't my intention to not pay for the salad. If she just came to us, saying something like, sorry, we can do nothing about that, then I would pay with no question, but as she based her decision to not take the salad of the bill on another customer's words after he drank some beers, that was completely UNPROFESSIONAL. And not only they made this decision, but she dared to tell me in my face that I came for free food, and that's why I complained (of course, not because of the avocado was rotten and replaced with another one as hard as wood). I still think of talking to the manager as it was simply unprofessional. I need to mention also that she came with the bill BEFORE we asked about that and with all this story we even didn't want to finish our drinks. I left almost half of the wine I ordered. It was awful experience. Not coming there ever again.

I went to the Royal Oak on Friday for Ann anniversary dinner. The waiter was polite and friendly. I ordered a peach Bellini which was blended perfectly and my partner had a Guinness. We both ordered off the summer lobster menu and were quite pleased. I did ask for no tomatoes on the lobster poutine and the lobster rolls and both had tomatoes. The waiter realized for the lobster roll but not for the lobster poutine so I picked them out myself. The lobster poutine was amazing and the lobster rolls tasted more like random seafood than lobster. The cheesecake was okay but quite small but my partner did enjoy the chocolate cake sundae.

So we went to the Oak after staying away for a while. The waitress mentioned they had a new menu. I was going to order the chicken fingers but apparently on the new menu, they are nt homemade and well.not good! So I opted for the homemade chicken pot pie and baked potato as a side. It took forever for our food to get to our table and the baked potato " microwaved regular hard potato" was cold. I sent it back. The chicken pot pie was all dough. 2 pieces of chicken and 1 carrot with very little sauce. It was a mess! How can you call this food!

Just another Royal Oak. Good beer, but served too cold for my ex-British taste. Great staff but the food is not as 'amazing' as they claim

Ordered a warm coat cheese and walnut salad. They bring the salad and tell me they've run out of balsamic dressing and have given me sesame seed dressing. I would have changed my order. The salad also didn't have the veggies that were supposed to be in it and the goat cheese was ice cold. So I spent $16.50 for lettuce, dressing I don't like and cold goat cheese.
Friend ordered a burger and fries and got like 8 fries.
Overall not at all impressed.

Nice and cozy bar. The service here is great and the specials are a good deal. The food is pretty basic pub fare but is a little on the expensive side.

My family went there 02/03/2019 and we were sick after. The food was not fit for a dog. The nachos with beef were $14.25 plus tax. There was a little cheese a little ground beef. They were so stingy. The food was burnt and cold and overpriced. This place is a rip off. DO NOT GO HERE YOU WILL GET SICK AND OVERPAY FOR IT. BUYER BEWARE. HIGH PRICES FOR STINGY PLATES OF FOOD. I AM TRYING TO WARN YOU. THE FOOD IS GROSS.

We went on Christmas Eve and place was busy. Have plenty of beers on draft and real good drink /food promos throughout the week. My wife and I had the meat pie and bangers and mash, which were a good size. Great neighbourhood

Expensive and mediocre food - but the beer and booze are plentiful, and the staff are pleasant! A good place for a drink I just don't really recommend the food. Popular spot for local bureaucrats looking for a place to drink and commiserate!

This Royal Oak is great for kids, especially if you come during off-peak hours. The staff are really friendly and accommodating.

I used to think that if you'd eaten at one Royal Oak you'd eaten at them all but, while the menu is the same, this kitchen turns out better tasting food.

Great great friendly staff on a Holiday night, great tasting poutine.and ice cold beer. Along with great music, just what I like, and not over crowded. Coming back for sure.
