Good staff who take care of regulars, but if you are a random walk in won't ignore you.

Clean that you can take the wife and kids too as well.

This was our first time at Royal Oak. Our server was pleasant and friendly. They didn't have our first choice of meal, Fish & Chips, so I had the Fish Tacos which were ok. After this experience, the Royal Oak wouldn't be my first choice, but I would definitely give it another try.

I went to the Royal oak this week. The food and service was great. We tried their lobsterfest menu and it was amazing. Definitely can’t wait to go back and try more!

I only come here because i live in the neighbourhood so it’s close when you want that day off of cooking lol. BUT every time i’ve been here it’s the worst service, and the food is always over cooked or sitting under the heat lamp too long.takes over an hour to get anything off the menu.the young servers just constantly say sorry it’s taking so long, feel bad for them.my last visit the server literally asked me how long we were waiting for food and said he would discount it as it is took over an hour for nachos and two chicken sandwiches, with a standard amount of ppl at the restaurant it is always short staffed.you basically have to order two beers at once because it takes too long for literally anything here.the owner was even on the stove in the back. If you like being in a restaurant for over 3 hrs this place will work for you. I don’t even like to write reviews.but this time i couldn’t hold back be better royal oak jeez

Brianna is hands down the best server. She’s so friendly, attentive, and quick. Make sure you request her when you go to the royal oak to ensure you have the best experience:)

Got seated on the mostly-empty patio this evening and waited patiently for someone to come and take an order. About 4 different servers passed by, roughly 2-3 times each) to clear tables as the patio emptied further. 20 minutes go by and still no approach by any servers. We decided to leave.

I hate giving low ratings, but to have that many servers not even make eye contact is a bit much. Sorry.

New to the area and stumbled across this jem. Wonderful staff and atmosphere. So comfortable here being on my own. Will definitely be back.

Walked in to the restaurant and the Server / Bartender just walks by us. The invisible treatment.
Comes back 5 minutes later and tells us that he will seat us soon. He then makes a beeline and rushes immediately to the open sign to turn it off and lower the curtains. It's 8: 50pm. The restaurant closes at 10pm. On the website it states 11pm.
Looking around the restaurant and very few patrons have been served.
Immediately I know the service will be subpar. Once again at this Royal Oak and by this Particular Sever. This wasn't the first time. And most likely won't be the last time with this server.
This has been the theme for this establishment since Covid and now.
We left.
That's my last visit to Royal Oak.
I have been a regular there for YEARS.
It's so true how one employee for a company in the service industry can ruin it for the others there.

I agree with most of the negative reviews, service is usually ok, or completely off. Have been ignored on both waiting to be seated or seated and the worst had a menu tossed at me. My hubby and I just left. Also the food needs to be more consistent, I get same appetizer, its gone from bland to so spicy we cant eat it.oh also FYI never come at shift change, most time your left to fend for yourself

I came for some drinks and food on the patio last night. Unfortunately the patio was very busy but no complaints. Great food nice people and excellent customer service from the server. Definitely coming back

Every time I come here the service is always so nice the conversation is always amazing. Had one server tonight that taught me a bit of psychology! Who would have thought we’d be chatting theories over wing? !

Had such an amazing time tonight- it was our first time checking out the pub and I'm so glad we did! The staff made us feel so welcome and were so friendly, the atmosphere was cute and cozy, and the service was amazing. We will definitely be coming back!

Yesterday my Mother and I went for lunch and our experience was less than adequate. Matt one of the owners reached out to me directly and offered to make the next visit right. It's really nice to see people stand behind what they do by making their customers happy. Thanks Matt and I look forward to my next visit with my Mother.

Follow up August 6th. Today's experience was absolutely amazing. Food was hot, plates were over flowing. Our server William was very attentive and friendly and brought us everything we needed. Noah also stopped by to see if we needed anything. Thanks again to Matt for making our second experience fabulous, percent today.

It was really busy when I went and had dinner on the patio, but the steak was amazing and the service was superb. Will definitely be back.

This place is so adorably cozy for a lunch, a date night, or even table for 1.staff are super friendly. I will be back.

Went last night. There were six of us and we all had a great time. The food was great and plentiful. The service was spectacular and they really went above and beyond. Couldn’t have been more pleased.

Great Pub! Me and my partner always share an order of fries. Getting something as simple as fries right is what makes this place amazing (we love getting them a little well done-extra crispy!). I've had the wings, and they are what you'd expect from a pub, but their house dressing is phenomenal! I always get a double order of house dressing (which they never charge for) to dip with my wings and my fries. My partner likes the blackened salmon, and loves that she can substitute items on the menu for extra vegetables. We both appreciate the serves and kitchen staff being so accommodating.

Saw the restaurant browsing Skip the Dishes and liked the name. Turns out the food is really great too!

Our last 3 delivery orders where bad, items missing and other ithems disgusting. I would not be so disappointed if we would not love same food for over a year since we moved into the area. I'm done ordering from this place and not going to visit it in person as it looks like they lost some of good cooks. If I would not be so tired, I would take it back personally. Thank goodness there's number of places we found that can deliver better food. Too bad.

Went to the royal oak @ whitby shores and was very disappointed we ordered the fries supreme 1lbchicken wings and two house special ceasers very inattentive staff fries came and were half decent edebile atleast then came the chicken wings tasted very stale and were overall just not enjoyable the drinks were by far the worst part tasted like a watered-down V8 so naturally I returned them my waitress took the drinks and chicken wings inside and had whom I believe to be the bartender come out and serve me my bill when I questioned about the poorly made drinks she jumped to well we took the chicken wings off your bill that's fine and dandy the chicken wings were poorly made aswell as i'd expect you too i was forced to pay for the watered-down v8s and told to leave the premises cause I was rude to my waitress who I hadn't seen since questioning about the poorly made food and drinks "have you seen Gordon Ramsey? " I was also under the assumption that when you return a poorly made drink you are introduced with an apology and let me make a new one for you not be forced to pay for something you didn't enjoy or even partake in for that matter I look forward to hearing from the owner of this establishment

When we arrived the hostess was friendly and seated us nicely on the patio, my husband and i ordered the supreme fries which were good and we ordered a pound of the wings in lemon pepper flavor. We also ordered two alcoholic beverages. The waitress was friendly but very slow and took a while to get our drinks. Once the wings came we were quite disappointed with how they tasted. Very dry and old tasting. The two drinks were very watery and barely any RIM around the Cesar drinks. When we told the waitress we didn't like it another girl came out with dark brown hair and she was very rude to my husband as he stated he didn't want to pay for the drinks that we both had one sip out of. She then came with the bill and charged us for the drinks and told us to never come back. I find the customer service very rude and offensive. I get we are all going through tough times but tbh you shouldn't be in customer service treating people like they are garbage. It wasn't lady like and she went from 0 to 100 with a childish temper fast. I don't recommend coming here and please becareful sitting near the railing on the patios they haven't sprayed them and there is huge spiders everywhere.

The pub is offering growlers filled with either Coors Lite or Canadian for $16 pus taxes. Such a great offer and great way to support this business!

This has become our new local since moving to Whitby. Good portions, great variety on the menu, decent prices, and very accommodating to those with allergies. Highly recommend the Windsor sandwich! Great place!

We had a safe experience here. Used hand sanitizer at the door and then some on the table. Waitress kept a safe distance. We had an excellent meal service was great.

Best Burger we've had in a long time tonight! Keep up the great work Royal Oak. I know things are tough right now, but we'll see you on the other side for a booth, beer, and burger.

The Royal Oak is a great place eat and meet friends. I have been a regular customer for 8 years and have always been happy with the food and service. The staff is fantastic. I am glad that during the pandemic they are limiting customers from only the Durham region, I feel safer thanks to their new policy.

Tried this spot once with a friend and I am obsessed since then. I loved the great ambience and delightful dishes and beverages. Kudos.

Excellent service. The only dock in points was bc they could not force people to wear masks and too many came in with masks not worn properly. But I get it, everyone is scared of those who won't comply. Otherwise, the staff and food were perfect

Excellent 'pub grub', reasonably priced. The staff goes out of their way to ensure customer satisfaction. I've never had anything less than great service. Kudos to the staff for being so conscientious.

Pretty awesome pub in Whitby. Went for A birthday party and al 40 of us had a great time. The food was amazing. The staff were friendly and courteous. The service was quick and thorough. It had a very pleasant pub aka sports bar touch. Alot of rich elegant decor. Very easy to find this place with tons of ample parking. All ages welcome.

Deplorable service went to order lunch, had to track down a waiter to take my oder 3 times. Got my order of 2lbs wings and sweet potatoes fries. Fries were not even 1/4 of the container and got 14 small wings. Total with taxes $37. Not enough for 1 person. Very small portions.

Great local pub, try all the apps. Everything I have tried so far is great. The meat pies are a little dry. Go with the burgers or buffalo chicken wrap.

I went there for dinner tonight with a friend. Due to health reasons my diet is vegan and gluten-free.

I ordered a vegetable wrap with a gluten free tortilla and asked for no goat cheese instead I asked them to add guacamole.

When I bit into my wrap I had a mouthful of goat cheese. I brought it to the server's attention, and she quickly reordered me another one. When it arrived it didn't have goat cheese but it also had no guacamole.

For dessert I was excited to see that they had a vegan gluten-free peanut butter chocolate pie. I was so disappointed when it showed up on a plate with two huge dollops of whipped cream. Who on Earth advertises a vegan, gluten-free dessert and then adds whipped cream? Again I brought this to the server's attention.

Big fail on so many levels.

Food ok, beer average, wait staff seemed to not know the beer selection at all - missed a bunch that I would have liked. Asked which specific beer of a given brewery they had (they have over 200), they only knew "an IPA". Expect better from a pub.

Everyone is great there. Good local pub.
Just don't make pizza anymore. Very dry and had a dishwater after taste.

Ordered some burgers through skip and they were completely pink inside. Tried to contact the Royal Oak and they didn't answer the phone (3 times) so we left a message and didn't receive any call back. Wouldn't recommend

Wife and I always enjoyed this pub/restaurant for the past 18months. Until tonight. We have noticed the change in management and staff. Tonight the bartender Madison never smiled once, service was super slow and food was garbage. Then when we raised our concern we were met with attitude and denial. They blamed service on supposed parties on patio. We saw no evidence of this, as restaurant was 1/3 full.

The food was pretty good, but it was more expensive than I expected. I liked that they had a Beyond Meat burger on the menu, but I'll probably just go back to the Portly Piper next time, to be honest.

I really enjoy the Royal Oak. Friendly staff and my food has always (5 times I've been there) been good.

Great terrasse, great staff. It was a lovely sunny day and we went sitting outside. Service was great, very attentive. The food is good too. Menu was good with many options, something for everyone. I had the turkey sandwich with brie and cranberries, it's pretty tasty. Thanks for the great time! I would recommend this place in Whitby, if you're around!

This place is lit I've been going for years now. Such good sandwiches, lattice fries (they call them spicy fries), good dips and the patio is cool cause there's a fountain

Well.let me tell you. The Reubin was reubin meat the right weigh. Great food and views on the patio.

I walked in and asked where should I be sitting the girl was very not helpful by telling me it would be a wait and not asked for my name or anything then she keep ignoring us as we are not so welcome and when I asked her how much longer is the wait she told me there is people before me but couldn't tell me how many was a few tables opening at that moment. The manager wasn't helpful

First they accuse me of being banned from royal oak on my very first visit to any royal oak, most likely since the restaurant was packed and a large family walked in after me and my 2 friends. So I left a negative review. It's been a few years since the incident and I was curious how this restaurant was doing since. To my surprise the rating has increased and my review was deleted! Fantastic way to run a business!

Garbage service, was seated, waited over 20min for a server to come and take our order. Servers came and served other tables around us that seated after us. Mentioned something to a server, still no one came. Don’t waste your time

Came for birthday dinner was biggest let down I had in awhile
Ice cold steak sandwich so they take it away and offer something else so I say ceaser salad then it comes out with a hair on it freaking disgusting
Wife orders chicken wrap with old bacon and wont eat it cause of smell really disappointing because it used to be good don't think we'll be back anytime soon

My band Five Wheel Drive played as part of a St. Patrick’s Day celebration weekend under a heated tent. A great party atmosphere. The staff at the Royal Oak were outstanding and made our night there pleasant and enjoyable. The meal I had was very good, too. Thanks for having us! A pleasure!

Been here multiple time with my mates and my wife on date night. We like the place. Never have tried going there with the three kids. Maybe might do that this year:)

Was visiting the Whitby Marina for an event. Some of the guests and myself went for a drink at this pub afterwords. Very nice atmosphere. I definitely would return and would love to try the food next time!

They don't honor their seniors discount that they boldly advertise at the front door. I told our server that I just qualified based on age before we sat down.

The service was slow, they were understaffed and the food was just ok.

I wouldn't go back.

Great food and craft beer selections. Fast and friendly service. Food plates and food were hot which to me is a great sign that your dinner is made fresh. I had the London Dip. Great sandwich.
