The Ruff House

We’ve been taking our MAS to get groomed here for a little over a year and have had great experiences with the groomers. Lise is a new addition to the Ruff House team and we had a great experience with her! She took the time to get to know our very anxious dog before the handoff and took my grooming requests to heart. It can sometimes feel like gamble to get a longer haired dog groomed, but I can assure you that in Lise’s very capable hand your dog will come back home to you looking like a fluffy angel exactly as requested. Thank you so much Lise for you patience and great work!

Would highly recommend! The owners have been thoughtful and careful about creating a safe environment for dogs to play and have fun. I feel like they truly care about our canine loved ones. I also appreciate the grooming available and great quality raw dog food as well!

We have a new puppy and The Ruff house has been a wealth of information and support. The trainers are patient, educated and always happy to answer our questions. We genuinely can’t thank you enough!

They are a great place to bring your dog. I'm not sure why anyone would post fake reviews to try and hurt a small business is beyond me. They may not accept your dog because it isn't the right environment for them. You may not be their ideal customer either. That being said, they are definitely a business that is for the safety of all dogs who attend. You definitely get what you pay for here.

I have not yet had the amazing pleasure to visit this place but after seeing the amazing things they do for dogs, I cannot wait to visit!

The Ruff House is such a welcoming, caring, and professional environment for both dogs and their humans. What I admire most is their generosity to local dog-rescue organizations. When they hosted a meet and greet for Noah, a pup who had several medical mountains to overcome, the love and care for dogs in general by staff was quite clear. It’s the big hearts that provide the best care for your furry family members.

I think my pictures below say it all. When I saw on the website they gave certain dogs special treatment/treats for an extra cost I was a bit wary but decided that it was fine. Everything else looked great! I figured the extra cost for treats/ one on one time/quiet corner/games/pictures were just what they said; add ons. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt even if In my research for a place for my dog I never saw that type of add on system before (i've seen extra cost for grooming but nothing like this). That said, I went ahead and inquired anyways as everything else on the website looked great.

However, when I emailed to inquire about rates, give them basic information on my pet, ask about a typical day to day routine, and ask if I could sign up for the 20 session package before they increased their price I was told that that information could be given only after I registered my dog online.

I then asked if it was feasible to get my dog in and pay for the 20 day care days package before the price changed and was told "if price is your primary concern this is not the right service for you".

To be clear, this was said to me by the owner. Word for word.

If they treat animals based on how much money their owners have I want nothing to do with them. Glad I found this out before I paid for their "temperament testing" or any day care days.

Jon and his team have created such a welcoming and professional environment, a real gem here in Ottawa.
We've taken advantage of the Training (puppy training), Storefront (great selection of treats!) and Grooming services. All top notch.

Ruff House is incredible! They go above and beyond for the rescue that I fostered and adopted through (Bullies In Need). Their services are inclusive, effective, but most importantly SO MUCH FUN. Ruff House hosts events for our rescue, has given tons of food donations, raises money for surgeries and generally are just incredible peeps. I am first time pet owners, new to ottawa & don’t know anything about bring good behavior and environment for my dog. Ruff House and each person worked there helped us a lot. My rescue puppy is very timid and with their support we raised an amazing therapy dog.

Jon and his staff have helped us with our dog training on numerous occasions. His knowledge and dedication is top notch. Our rescue was showing signs of aggression and dominance when chewing on toys and with Jons knowledge and advice we very quickly corrected the behaviour. Strongly recommend to anyone looking for a 1 stop dog trainer/groomer.

You can't find better, more friendly service anywhere! Jon has gone over and beyond to help me find proper food for my dog Bentley, and helped out family members with their dogs too. Very pleased and happy with the service provided, always a friendly welcome!

The staff at the ruff house is top notch! You couldn’t ask for more caring, friendly, compassionate care givers for your fur babies. They have extensive knowledge on such a variety of different amazing things and offer grooming, daycare, boarding, natural products, and expertise! My dog Kira and I have always loved coming here and have always felt welcome. Huge thanks to owner Jon for always being there for all our questions and of course for loving Kira so much too!

We brought our pup Daisy here. She was well taken care of and had a great time. I especially love that I could watch her during the day. Totally recommend Ruff House if you (or your pup) need a break

We can’t say enough about Ruff House. All the people working there genuinely care about your pet and do their utmost to make sure they are comfortable and well cared for. They also spend a lot of time making sure your dog is placed in the right group for their size and personality. We wouldn’t go anywhere else.

From dog day care, to positive training to a retail store- this place has it all. They are breed inclusive and you always feel welcomed when you enter. The owner also makes a point to support local food and treat companies through out the retail store- which is really nice as we have to support local. They also give back to the rescue community with donations of food, hosting events or if you have an allergy dog like I do- they will even source items you might need. They are one of the good guys <3

Unprofessional, untrustworthy, RUDE people. No idea how to treat people so I can only imagine how they treat dogs. Avoid this place.

Wonderful team and environment! My pup loves it and it is always a treat to take her. I’ve arrived multiple times to find the team gave her special accommodations to make sure she had a good day!

If I could give less than 1 star I would. The employees treated me terribly, were unorganized and unsympathetic during an already difficult time. They do not ensure paying customers are aware of their strict policies and instead of informing clients they simply disregard their mistakes and blame the customer. Not sure what kind of customer service is in their "policy" but I have never experienced such disrespect from an establishment before. However I will give them 1 star for refunding me part of the classes (but not the one they made a mistake on:)!) do better & try and treat others with a little more compassion and kindness next time. Invalidating others experience usually isn't the way to go for customer satisfaction.

Furthermore why would someone knock on the door if they knew your policy? I was advised by someone outside your facility to knock on the back door LOL. You guys are just simply lying saying I was aggressively knocking on the door for 7 minutes LOL.post the proof please. I dont need to lie LOL. Every bad review you receive you deflect back onto the customer, maybe take some accountability and do a better job. Your response to my review is so painfully inaccurate. HAHA

After the owner seen me and my fathers review he was angry, he called me and I was not at the phone. Within 10 minutes charged my credit card another $226 dollars even tho he only “refunded” me $133 - I’ve also noted that his refunds exclude taxes so overall $446 has been taken off my credit card and as of now my credit card shows that amount missing from the balance. Absolute abuse of power to make unauthorized purchases on someone else’s credit card just because you are upset. He then proceed to say/guilt me into removing the review or he would not give me my money back. Then after several hours gave me in store credit as if I would ever want to return to the establishment after this disturbing encounter. - I have contacted the credit card company about the unauthorized purchases as this is fraud. I will update this review whenever the situation changes as of now my credit card company will be dealing with this business. What a head ache as I mentioned already during a difficult time for many people financially.

Love all the folks working at Ruff House, super nice people who seem to love what they do. Very responsible in terms of assessing your dog for daycare and introducing them to other dogs. They do a great job of trimming my boys' nails, even though one is very hyper and the other is heavy and reluctant. Solid selection of food, treats, etc.

I am so thankful for the Ruff House! Our dog was dealing with pretty severe anxiety that developed during the pandemic, so we have been bringing her into daycare once a week for the past few months. The change has been incredible! I really appreciate how patient Jonathan and Sophie have been with her and how much they care about helping her get used to being around other dogs. I also love the transparency of being to watch what’s happening on the Live Cams. (And it’s nice to see the dogs getting hugs and love from the staff!) I wholeheartedly recommend the Ruff House to anyone with a dog - the whole team is very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and 100% trustworthy.:)
