It’s amazing how you finally are able to start to piece together the very basic mechanics of how to run correctly and I have Daniel to thank for that! His expertise helped me recover through my injury the past couple months and now I’m running pain free.

After dealing with an unusual strain in my hamstrings for a month, I decided to take matters into a professional’s hands and was linked up with Erin at The Running Physio.

After three very attentive and thoughtful sessions with her, I have come away feeling stronger, healed, and equipped with a new set of routines to help strengthen my hamstrings to avoid future occurrences of the issue. Not only that, but Erin helped to identify some other weaknesses, and provided me with the tools necessary to improve my overall physical health.

I can hardly recommend her professional services enough.

If you’re looking for a kind, intelligent physiotherapist who really cares for their craft and patients, do yourself a favour and make Erin Locke your first choice.

I first came to The Running Physio in late September for pain in my right knee from running that was persisting for a couple of weeks. I met with Daniel Mills and overall had an incredible experience.

When I first met with Daniel, I explained that I was completely unable to run, had difficultly walking and mild pain when sitting and standing. After an initial consult with Daniel, he was able to correctly diagnose the problem, gave me some short term relief through massages and stretches and we went over exercises to do at home to make things better in the long term.

I saw Daniel again a week later. I had some improvement over the week but I was still unable to run and struggling to walk without pain. Daniel again provided some short term relief and we went over some additional exercises to do (including progressing with the existing ones) and he assured me we were heading in the right direction.

After a couple of weeks of doing the exercises recommended by Daniel, my knee pain was essentially gone. At this point, I met with Daniel again and we put together a plan to get me back running (this time without risking further injury). Daniel also performed a run analysis, and we identified how my existing mechanics were contributing to my knee pain and he gave me instructions on how to improve my form to lessen injuries and run more efficiently. This was a truly eye opening experience and I learned a lot through this analysis.

In short, I have been back to running every other day without pain because of Daniel’s guidance and my runs have been easier as a result of his run analysis. I plan on engaging Daniel again in the future for his run coaching to meet some goals in 2024!

Cannot recommend Daniel enough!

I saw Claire regarding my right shoulder which aches only after running for an hour and a half. Since I am training for a marathon and doing lots of long runs I am very keen to reduce the shoulder discomfort. She asked lots of questions and did a thorough assessment. We then went through some exercises which should help. She sent the exercise instructions via email. In addition the PhysiApp phone app provides video demonstrations and a way to track how well you are following the program. An excellent experience which exceeded my expectations.

I have been 2 times. Once, proactively to get a running analysis done and understand any quirks of my gate. And then recently to diagnose some pain I had been feeling after I ramped too quickly after marathon training. Both times I have left with a better understanding of my body and a clear plan forward to address my issues. And interestingly enough with the most recent visit, the physio explained the causal link between some of the imbalances found in my previous analysis and my recent injury after my excessive running. I highly recommend this team. The staff are patient and take the time to explain everything they are observing.

The appointments were good, but the communication between appointments seems nonexistent. The physiotherapist was supposed to send me a running program and an exercise program and didn’t, and neither she nor the clinic have answered my emails asking about it.

Excellent, prompt assessment of running injury. Thorough explanation and useful and well explained regimen of rehab exercises. Reasonably priced esp.if you have insurance coverage. They also will not try to oversell you on things that you will not need for your recovery. They are very focused on your goals. Excellent experience.

The greatest clinic in Toronto, bar none. When I did physio in the past, I felt like physio just didn't work. I remember saying this to Lauren six years ago, and she laughed and said it works if it's done right. Boy, how wrong I was! Lauren and all of her physios changed my mindset. They tailor treatment to each patient and tenaciously work with them until their health and fitness goals are achieved. Vanessa is awesome too!

Importantly, the physios here don't just do leg problems. Actually, I have mainly gone here over the last two years for arm and shoulder problems. The service and care I've received is beyond a cut above everyone else. There's a reason everyone gives them 5 stars. They are magicians at their craft!

Great location, super friendly staff! Been to a few different locations and I can’t stress how great their service is. Andre took his time in getting to know my problem and explained what a realistic timeline looked like. Unlike other Physio’s he didn’t try to force a sale or follow up within an unrealistic timeline. Highly recommend, will be back!

I had approached The Running Physio group at the start of my marathon training block to get insight into my running form that I wouldn’t otherwise be able to find out on my own accord. I chose to get a gait analysis done which Andre had assisted me with and after our hour appointment we had pinpointed small discrepancies and good habits in my form and we were able to curate my running gait to allow me to take on this large volume of running with a lowered risk of injury as well as an increased efficient and optimal running form.

Highly recommend for any runner!

I went to the Running Physio on a recommendation from a friend as I experienced a severe hamstring tear and knee issues. Was I thankful I went! Vanessa was quick to diagnose the issues I inflicted on myself and provided me with a treatment plan that fast tracked my recovery. Not only was the personal care exceptional, but the app that was used helped me tremendously to recall the treatment activities, reminded me to do them, and tracked my progress. I would not have made it through my last 3 marathons (and multiple 10kms and half marathons!) without the help, support and guidance from Lauren! It has been the absolute best working with her over the years and she has been an instrumental part in my running career! Been to countless physiotherapists for chronic low back pain with no success. Caroline is the only one who was able to assess, provide a plan/exercise program, and ultimately reduce my pain and get me back to normal activities. I’m now relatively pain-free for the first time in 15+ years. She’s changed my life and helped me avoid surgery. Couldn’t recommend her and The Running Physio enough

I can't recommend the running physio enough for active and pregnant women. During my pregnancy I saw Alex (who is unfortunately no longer with the team), and Amanda postpartum to ensure that my core and pelvic floor were taken care of.

I've already recommended this type of physio as well as the team at the running physio to other pregnant woman as I found that my postpartum healing was incredibly smooth as a result.

Everyone here is incredibly kind, understanding, and welcoming. And they really do tailor your physio to your needs and goals.

My gait analysis with Brendan was incredibly informative and helpful — he provided me with muscle-strengthening exercises and cues on how to adjust my running, which I was able to apply right away to my training.

And what a difference that’s made! I’ve logged a dozen runs since my appointment and I’ve noticed significant improvements — definitely feeling like I'm getting a bit stronger with each run.

I’ve been running for more than a decade now and I’ve always enjoyed running but my visit to The Running Physio really renewed my love for it! Thank you!

In the last few months I started seeing Amanda at the recommendation from a friend for a tendonitis after a year of recovering from other injuries. The Running Physio is quite out of the way for me BUT, let me tell you, going to the Running Physio and working with Amanda is WORTH. THE. TREK. Amanda is extremely knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate, and a fantastic teacher. She gave me realistic expectations for recovery and of course, shows me grace when I give the occasional "so I wasn't *that* great at my exercises this week". Nonetheless, I've seen so much improvement while working with Amanda and have such a better understanding of the mechanics and what's going on with my legs and feet that have been the source of my pain. As we start to figure out the puzzle pieces that work for me in my recovery plan, I'm now starting to run again with no pain and increase my mileage! I'm really glad I took made the trek and ended up at the Running Physio! They really are the best! 11/10 recommend. Thanks Amanda!

Seeing Amanda for a gait analysis and a series of follow-up sessions brought dramatic improvements for me. I can now run with zero knee pain which has resulted in increased stamina and confidence. She also helped address a nerve pain issue, providing stretches that I continue to use on a daily basis. Besides being an absolute pro, Amanda is kind, easy to talk to, and fun. The clinic as a whole is great as well; all of the staff I've interacted with are warm, professional, and lovely. Highly recommended!

I had knee pain for more than three weeks and finally pushed myself to call a doctor who asked me to go to a physiotherapist. I am so glad I found the running physio!

Vanessa is the best! She is super sweet and brilliant! Understands the problem from different dimensions and teaches movements to help you heal. She makes sure we only do what we are comfortable doing amidst the pain yet slowly helps us push a little harder so we heal better. They also send practice lessons so you can continue doing them at home.

It’s also a very clean place following all the Covid protocols. I’ve rejected multiple physiotherapy places closer to me that look pretty dirty.

As a very critical person, I highly recommend running physio to anyone looking for a legit physiotherapy place around downtown Toronto!

It has been an absolute privilege to receive treatment from Lauren and Amanda at the Running Physio. These women are not only experts in their fields, but also have a knack for supporting their clients with compassion and communicating in a way that is informative but straightforward. It is incredible to watch their minds at work, and it is clear that they are fully invested in their clients' treatment. TRP's digital supports are very useful, and virtual appointments were a breeze. I've also had great support with nutrition from Mallory, who champions her clients with encouragement and positivity. Thank you as well to the amazing administrative staff for their warmth and their support with scheduling. I cannot recommend TRP enough!

Liz Fryer is the most amazing cheerleader/ running coach/ super Physio you’ll ever meet! I followed this clinics’ content on social media for a long time, and I finally had a chance to come for a gait analysis session! I am just starting out with my running journey, and I wanted some tips to help me prevent any injuries and address some current concerns. Liz was very reassuring to let me know that I was on the right track, and gave me some very simple modifications to my running. She even introduced me to free apps that will help improve my running cadence/ rhythm, to help me progress my running skills outside the clinic, while using similar tools. The gate analysis on the treadmill is one of the coolest pieces of equipment ever! Overall only about 25% of the appointment was running on a treadmill while she recorded my gait from different angles, so I hope that doesn’t deter anyone who is scared they will have to run for the entire duration of the one hour time block! Then, she played the video of running back to me, on the iPad, in slow motion, and she used the online tools to draw arrows, circles, and lines, indicating areas to focus on, or areas for improvement in my running. She clearly explained the rationale for each recommendation, from the science of the skill, to the impact it can have on our body. Then, we tried out those tips on the treadmill, she took another video, and we compared images of my before and after running. Wow, what a difference! Even the smallest changes lead to improved efficiency, less impact on my shins, and optimal movement! I was able to take pictures of my before and after gait from the iPad screen, and I showed them to my family as a way to encourage them to be more aware of their running technique!

Liz also helped me to establish a simple, and effective warm-up routine for my running, and immediately emailed the exercises to me afterwards. It turns out I was overdoing it for my warm up, which explained one of the reasons for my running discomfort!

I am recommending all my family and friends who are beginners, intermediate, or super athletes, to check out Liz, and the Running Physio for tips on their running journey! I am a physiotherapist myself, and I truly appreciated their expertise in running. I would trust this team with my running and related concerns, any day!

I started seeing Lauren a few years back to get some additional help on a stubborn IT band issue that I had been dealing with. We did an AI Gait Analysis, which really helped pin point a few little areas that I still needed to strengthen up in order to balance out my stride, but we also looked at cadence, shoes, everything! It was a great, well rounded approach that helped a ton in my recovery. Instead of waiting around for the next injury to treat, I’ve been doing back-to-back maintenance appointments with Amanda and Vicky - kind of like a spa day for athletes. Can’t say enough good things about these folks!

I went to The Running Physio after doing some research on the Internet and calling a couple of different companies. What really struck me on the first call to them was how friendly the person was who answered the call and how she listened to what I needed rather than just assigning someone at random. Plus, the follow-up before the appointment was pretty awesome (text, e-mail, telephone call). I spent an hour with Liz Fryer, and she was OUTSTANDING. I really appreciated how she answered my questions, took the time to explain things and showed me how to make slight adjustments. She was patient, friendly and gave some very helpful suggestions. I would absolutely recommend going to The Running Physio for help and my experience was first rate.

I did a gait analysis with Liz and it was AWESOME! I'm a long time runner and was looking for a better understanding of my mechanics and some insight into how I could improve. My session with Liz was an eye opener. Turns out I'm efficient in areas that I didn't anticipate and my "homework" is on aspects of my running that I hadn't even considered.

I'd recommend this 10/10 for any runner. Especially if you're looking to take the guess work out of the process of improving.

I highly recommend The Running Physio. The moment you walk in your greated with a warm welcome either by Ally or Nico. A friend recommended Amanda to me and I am so happy I found her. She had helped me with my hip pain a lot. She is amazing at her job and was very quick to pin point where the pain was coming from. Amanda is a lovely girl, very friendly and welcoming and I highly recommend her. I enjoy every time I come to the studio!

Running related injuries require specialized care. Not only was Amanda able to isolate the muscle causing my pain (in my foot, so specific!). She told me exactly what to expect, how to recover, and responded promptly to my questions outside of our appointment. She understands the emotions involved when telling a runner they need to rest in the middle of a training program. Highly recommend The Running Physio.

Left a review previously for the wonderful Physios at TRP! This time, I wanted to shout out to Mallory, who was wonderful to work with. I loved her approach and guidance with her nutritional programs. I was a bit skeptical at first to even engage in with a nutritionist but Mallory is a lovely human who made it very easy. Her regular check-ins are effective and motivate you to stay on track throughout your program. I came to her with concerns of improving my recovery during marathon training and she broke it down to the basics of keeping my energy levels up. She works with you on towards your goals by setting and achieving the smaller but foundational building blocks. It's not all "never ever eat this again" with her. If you're in doubt, reach out to her for a consultation and she will put you at ease!

Had massage therapy and far exceeded expectations. Previous massage attempts lead me to believe in had to hurt to be good. This probably deepest massage I have had yet was not painful. Very nice environment with super friendly welcoming staff right from front door on through.highly recommend to runners and non runners alike

Having mixed experience with other clinics, I was recommended this clinic from a friend and specifically Amanda for physiotherapy. I had an ongoing problem that was bugging me all year, Amanda was able to find the problem and create a plan of how to deal with it in our first appointment. Although it was an 8 week process with setbacks I was extremely impressed with how Amanda was confident and comfortable with the outlined plan and ultimately it gave me the certainty that I would have this issue fixed. The clinic also uses technology to it's advantage, throughout the recovery I was prescribed excercises through an app that kept me on track to recovery. It was very engaging and definitely one of the reasons I was able to recover. Additionally, once I was able to run again Amanda performed a gait analysis on my running and provided some valuable recommendations that I am incorporating today in my runs. I had a fabulous experience at this clinic and if I get hurt again will definitely came back in!

I have been seeing Liz at the Running Physio for some time now, and have improved so much in both flexibility and strength. Although I have a lot further to go (body goals and such.) I went to see Liz Fryer to help me out with a left knee injury I got while overindulging in the summer with many extra km of running. Liz put together a great strengthening and flexibility plan that really helped. Can’t recommend Alannah enough. Went in with the goal of increasing my mileage without injury and there’s no question she’s pretty much the reason I am getting to marathon distances pain-free. I find the physios knowledgeable They provide individualized treatment programs. I have suffered knee pain for many years they were able to make it better. I was able to return to biking to work. I saw another physio clinic previously who gave me basic exercises which did not help. They are experts in areas other than just running. They also have a great RMT.

Liz is the best! I came in a few weeks ago because I started experiencing terrible knee pain during my runs and she was able to diagnose the issue right away. Incredible experience - tried the gait analysis with Amanda. Lots of learning about my running style/imbalances - left with tips/cues able to be implemented immediately to address. Lots of value from 1 hour if time, if you run regularly you should do this.

After the lockdown resulted in a complete change to my exercise routine I began experiencing low back and hip pain. Having worked with Lauren in clinic previously I didn’t hesitate to reach out and book a few virtual appointments and I’m so glad I did. Lauren was able to diagnose me over video chat and over 3 sessions gave me progressive exercises that have helped so so much! I’m starting back to running now on her “back to running” program and feeling confident that I have the tools and knowledge I need to alleviate pain when I does resurface. Thanks so much!

I started sessions with Tesca late last year after a left ankle injury and she has helped tremendously with my ongoing recovery. I'm building my base back up but in a much safer and more sustainable manner. We've moved to virtual appointments for now amid the pandemic but I feel I'm getting just as much from the appointments. The fact that it's done via video conferencing means she can still teach me new exercises and make sure I'm doing them correctly. So glad that The Running Physio has these means for me to continue my therapy!
