The Saylor House Cafe and B&B

Before I begin I wanted to mention the restaurant/cafe is located behind the Saylor House not inside! Meaning the front door of the Saylor House is locked and not able to be entered. If your looking to stay inside the house this place has a B&B available.

On with the review.
I liked this place and the food was fabulous! Especially the B. A. T.
I liked all the old tea cups around the place and the outside looked very nice and relaxing. Though at the moment the outside area is closed do to wasps and the amount of them. Which sucks but makes complete sense.

There was one thing that I found interesting about this place though.some of the customers that come here.

I realize the Saylor House Cafe has no control over this but the vibe is strange. Like SOME people that come here seem snobby and unkind.
This wasn't everyone but for example one of the people working here were talking about how they get rude people coming here and just demanding things or expect unrealistic things from them.
And honestly I feel bad for them. No one should have to deal with rude customers. Even though I know that it happens more then it should.

Or there was another person next to us complaining to the people with them about how breakfast wasn't on anymore and that they will only be ordering a drink and that they are disappointed.
(Which by the way, being disappointed is valid but get on with your life)

Besides the customers, the servers are kind and lovely to be around! And they are doing such a great job! (:

Tucked away back from the main street, Saylor House offered an excellent respite on our trip.

The owner took in our group of 10 after closing and provided excellent timely service. The food tasted delicious, we would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful lunch at Saylor House café yesterday.
Our dessert was authentic Ukrainian honey cake that was so amazing I purchased 3 to take home.

Amazing food. Great service. Will keep coming back again and again. A home cooked meal for a fair price and friendly owners and staff. Lovely patio in the shade. Best place in PEC.

This place was such a great surprise for us! We went for breakfast and loved every part of the experience! The restaurant was super cute and cozy with all kinds of vintage (the real deal) decoration, staff was lovely and the food was simple and delicious - the kind of food you eat at your grandma on a sunday morning! ️ Omelette was delicious and so was the pancake! We went there to have breakfast again the next day and got super sad as we saw a "closed today" sign outside! Anyways, definitely recommend and this will always be a must go whenever we're in PEC!

Heard about the breakfast here from a friend. Small, quaint place - Staff was welcoming and friendly, food was delicious!

Such a pretty place with delicate teacup decor and delicious food! And beautiful friendly folks - definitely recommend.

Very nice place to chill and have breakfast. Very friendly staff. Liked the 4-legged friend the most.

Good for for a light lunch. There's a small dog that goes in and out of the restaurant, so that is amusing. We sat on the patio due to covid. No handicap access. My concern were the bees. Lots of them. They are just stupid this time of year, but scary, and annoying just the same. I'd prefer to eat inside, but we were 12 people.

Folks. This is a unique place to eat in the backyard of a century home in a beautiful small town setting. The servings are fantastic. In fairness to the ladies operating this place you have to be patient as all the food is fresh made to order and of great quality. We had a late lunch and they were still serving a full seating. We were told up front it would be about a 30
Minute wait and in the meantime were provided a fresh cup of coffee to enjoy as we waited. Be patient and kind and you will be rewarded with fantastic service and food! The sandwiches are a full meal with a small side of coleslaw and pickle to compliment

Wish I could give it 6 stars. How could someone make breakfast better? They can. That's who. Better bacon, better sausage, just everything just a bit better. Lots of negative reviews because of long wait times but ignore them. This place is worth it. Sorry for the picture of the half eaten breakfast but I couldn't wait.

Super cute cafe, friendly staff, and fresh delicious breakfast. We brought our little dog and he played with host’s pet. We can’t wait to go back next time we are in town.

Cadre très agréable. Cependant, le temps d'attente pour être servi est incroyablement long. 1h15 pour préparer des pancakes et des French toasts alors que que le temps d'attente annoncé était de 30 minutes. (À noter que toutes les tables n'étaient pas prises.) J'ai jamais vu ça! Par ailleurs, les pancakes avaient un goût d'oignon. Bref lavez mieux vos poêles! Enfin, alors que la serveuse nous voyait partir, un au revoir de sa part aurait été apprécié.

We waited 20 mins in line, and by the time it was our turn to order, the host said it will take an hour to get our food and told us that they’re running out of food and only served breakfast. They could have warned us first while we were waiting in line and also the people before us were waiting for their food and the host could have greeted us at while the others were waiting for their food, we could had known about the food shortage and leave earlier. And the host didn’t apologize nor seem to care. Terrible service.

Never again.waited over an hour for sandwich and soup. They actually ran out of bread and had the nerve to ask if we would have the grilled cheese sandwich made with the heel of the loaf.really are you serious? Food finally came with the server on her cell phone. Dog was cute.until he started peeing on all the chairs. Sorry never again

My granddaughter and I visited the cafe for her birthday outing and we had an wonderful time. The staff were all so welcoming and the service was great. The food was delicious! A tasty brownie and tart to follow! Thankyou!

We had breakfast here. The backyard patio, with the cute decor, makes you feel like you're in an Alice in Wonderland story. The menu was great with plenty of options. Food was amazing and so was the staff.

Waited for my order of a “store bought mix - just add water” (according to a server) and a premade scone for over an hour. The only coffee they serve is a drip coffee.
Cafe patio is quite plain - a few trees with some bird feeders on them. I appreciated that dogs are allowed on the patio. But, when I asked for a dog bowl for my dog, I was provided with one and told that it’s not particularly a dog’s bowl, “but it will be sanatized anyways”.
Very disappointed and not worth the price.

Quaint and romantic hideaway with excellent food and very friendly service out in the back garden. Enjoy!

10/10 would recommend, it's so unique and quaint and the ladies who run it are lovely as well. I live in the city, but my gramma lives in town and they even offered to deliver her lunch! It made my day, can't wait to visit again.

Very disappointed as I was so looking forward to ear here.seemed nice with the garden and kind service (at first) but after waiting over an hour for our breakfast, my Husband finally asked if we could just get a refund and cancel our order as we didn't know how much longer it was gonna take. We had asked 2x before and they kept saying "It's on the grill". We ordered pancakes and French toast so we knkw it doesn't take an hour to cook this on a grill. After an hour we still didn't receive our meal. When my Husband went to ask for a refund and the owner was rude and said "so does he want me to toss it? ". No we want our food or if its gonna take longer we would like a refund and we will go somewhere else. Finally she brought the food out and the pancakes were under done.

So unfortunate when a place has so much potential to be great especially with something as simple as customer service and seeing this experience from the customer's perspective. We were not being unreasonable asking for a refund after over am hour.

I read some of the reviews that said they waited over an hour for their food and I thought it was a joke. No, it's real. I am currently waiting close to an hour for a simple breakfast order that should really take 7-10 mins to prepare.

If you're hungry, don't come here. If you have ample time (1 hr+) the garden looks very nice. Aside from the swarms of wasps/bees, you should be fine.

UPDATE:
I received my food just over an hour of waiting but not before I asked for a refund and received attitude from the owner asking if she shows throw out my order. I obviously said if it's ready I'll take it and another 5 mins later she returned with the items.

I had the pleasure of eating some raw pancakes for breakfast but the bacon was good.

Truly a charming little outdoor garden patio/restaurant. The food was well prepared, and the service was great as well.

Aside from waiting over an hour for our breakfast to arrive, they served our meals to the customers who arrived after us. After realizing their mistake, they proceeded to take care of the customers after us by providing them with the missing item from their (similar order). They did not communicate this error with us, even though we were an earshot from the other customers, and had to wait another 15 minutes until our order arrived. Other customers also experts see frustration at the delays in their orders, with one other customer storming out.

Expensive for what you get and my food was luke warm on a cold day. Dogs should be nowhere near food!

Came for breakfast and had a good, tasty helping of french toast with some fresh fruit. So nice as I really dislike canned fruit. Such friendly, welcoming staff, a bright and cheery hello as we walked in the door. Our server was attentive and very friendly. We weren't rushed. It was great. Loved having my tea in a proper tea cup. Have to come back sometime for lunch:)

Limited selection but made to order. Two soups (butternut apple or crab and corn chowder), sandwiches, salads, etc. Portions are perfect size, well priced. Desserts and baked goods baked daily. Soft cookies, very intense brownies. Would return. Quaint.

All I can say is: OH MY GODDDDDD! Food was amazing! Freshly baked everything, delicious omelettes, home-made jam and great service!

Lovely / casual / on site cooked delicious meals. Staff friendly fun. A second visit for moi. Will return and bring others. Thank you. Delightful.

Our destination was breakfast when we found this quaint cafe.
Friendly and warm with wonderful homespun ambiance.
The food, price and service was good, however we had concerns about the operations; small dog wandering freely from the open kitchen to the dining room, begging for food from the customers as well as kitchen staff in open toed flip flops/sandals with hair nets absent.
If you are looking for a quiet breakfast, eat outside on the lovely and spacious patio, the noise inside from the kitchen staff was incredible.

If you come here for breakfast, you will be signing up for tasty food and relaxing view. You will enjoy the beautiful yard with a viewof the farm that is found right beside the cafe. The food is simple, but delicious, and the staff is friendly and skillful. Furthermore, if you sit outside, you can watch birds flutter about you as they take seeds from the many birdfeeders that line the yard. The furniture varies from table to table, which gives the cafe a very homy feel. There many other lovely details, like teacups hanging from the trees.

I love this cafe. I always go there while on vacation every year to the county. Today Tuesday it was closed. So disappointed. I don't think they know they are a tourist attraction. So we went to Devonshire in Wellington. And it was wonderful.

Très beau petit café où les déjeuners sont excellents. Terrasse extérieure magnifique et salle à manger pittoresque. Très propre. Là où j'ai enlevé deux étoiles est notamment en lien avec le service pressé et manquant de sourire. De plus, le café filtre de restaurant sans plus, est chargé même en prenant un déjeuner et pour deux repas que nous avons partagé avec nos enfants, deux cafés et deux jus, 54$. C'est un peu exagéré. Sinon, la nourriture était bien au-delà de mes attentes avec de la viande locale et très goûteuse.

I had a bacon, avocado and tomato (B. A. T.) with a little coleslaw on the side. We all shared a warm brownie with whipped cream. The patio was pretty with many birds flitting about their feeders.

Great Service, Great Food and Very Picturesque. A great way to spend the afternoon with a friend!

It would be really great if you could update your website so people don't waste time coming there when you are closed. Seriously.
