The School Fine Dining

The food and service were excellent! Food was very well prepared, well presented, and with generous portions. I took my son here to celebrate his 10th birthday with a fine dining experience. We both enjoyed the food very much: My son had the French Onion Soup au Gratin (photo) and Filet Mignon, which came with a healthy plate of vegetables including, carrots, asparagus, broccoli, mashed potatoes, etc. I had the Soup of the Day and Pasta Primavera, which were great vegetarian options for me. They even gave my son a big slice of chocolate cake on the house, which was big enough for both of us to share, and much appreciated! Our server, Yianni, was helpful, friendly, and very courteous. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience. Highly recommended!

We just had our wedding reception for 45 guests at The School last week.
I knew we made the right decision since our first consultation with Peter.
They are used to hosting all sorts of functions. It doesn’t matter how big or small it might be - the attention to detail and care demonstrated by their team is the same and we really appreciate that.
They all know exactly what they are doing and we barely had to provide any input throughout the night - things would simply happen when they should happen and we couldn’t have asked for a smoother night.
Both food and service were stellar - we had multiple guests compliment the food, venue and service.
We are extremely grateful to Peter and his team for the beautiful event we had!

Anniversary dinner did not disappoint! My Pinacolada was just the way I like it. Lamb melted in my mouth! Best for very special occasions because of the cost. Money well spent though!

My wife and I went to The School for our 10th wedding anniversary and let me tell you this restaurant did not disappoint! From the initial contact, the host and the staff was so friendly, made recommendations and were very attentive.

The food was amazing, full of flavour, great presentation and filling.

Over all an amazing experience! If you’re looking for a romantic place to have dinner or simply looking for an amazing night out, The School is a must visit!

Great steak house in Markham. Had a steak and a daily special entree. Everything was great until I found a a pice of fry in the vegetable side, hope it’s not from McDonald’s.

Fantastic food, wonderful attentive service. A great option when you are looking to celebrate something special. An incredible tiramisu may be the best ever and I'm not kidding around with that.

Came here during a weekday lunch to celebrate my father in law's birthday. The staff were very rude to my in-laws, the food is expensive, which is fine since it's supposed to be fine dining, but the prices didn't reflect the quality. Everything was overcooked (ordered med rare Striploin but came out well-done, salmon was burnt to a crisp and super dry, pasta was very basic, french onion soup was not flavourful, the only thing that tasted good was the bread). We were very surprised and disappointed as we had high expectations based on the reviews. Maybe it was an off day for them but we won't be returning.

My husband and I have been going to The School for awhile now and every time we go it's an amazing experience. The Chateaubriand is phenomenal, always a favourite of ours! The food has always been perfect and staff are so friendly and inviting. I would highly recommend visiting!

I celebrated my bridal shower and baby’s baptism at the School. From start to finish the coordinator was amazing to work with. They were very accommodating and helped me build a delicious menu for my guests. I can not say enough how much everyone enjoyed themselves. Food and drinks were amazing, staff was attentive and friendly and the overall atmosphere was beautiful and unique. I will definitely host future events here again. Thank you again to the School!

I came here last night for the first time with the gf for dinner for her bday. Place looks nice, ambiance was nice and food was good. Service needs work though. It's not everyday we go out for fine dining, but for some reason, it felt like our server expected us to know certain things here. Our questions were answered with sarcastic responses as if we should have known. On top of that, our server had a hard time hearing us as well, although the place was pretty quiet. But yeah, for the price we paid, atleast the food was good.

We had a wonderful date night out thanks to the impeccable service. The aesthetic was eclectic and featured original photos which was lovely to see. The food was cooked to perfection and we will be back soon! Definitely a 5 star fine dining experience!

We booked a graduation party of 60 people, the service and food were top-tier! Gave all the graduates a memorable experience. I had the pasta and it was delicious. Big thank you to Peter for making this night even better than we could have expected!

I had a wonderful experience here. The food was cooked well and service was great. The manager pays great detail to your needs. I would definitely come back here for another delicious dinner. I had ordered the Gorgonzola with truffle crusted strip loin, it was really flavourful and my steak was cooked to perfection. I had the mashed potatoes and it was nice and creamy. I really enjoyed the pickled vegetables they served as an appetizer to open up your appetite, I’m not sure if they were pickled in house or jarred. Atomosphere was great as well, they even had someone playing the piano there which was really nice as most places nowadays have something playing on the radio or CD player.

Took a client amd collegue for dinner, dissapointing on many fronts.the service was acceptable but food was very underwhelming for what is supposed to be "fine" dining. A critics field day. The Fish itself was cooked well but sides and seasoning dissapointed.

The meat was tough, the old fashioned ordered was watery (sat at the bar for ages I assume) and unfortunately the place was far from busy so a packed house excuse is not an option.

Had the grilled calamari as starter, followed by lamb chops paired with Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon and ending with tiramisu for dessert. From start to finish, every item was delicious. Food was excellent and would definitely go back again

I have been to the School for dinner and the food/service are 10/10.

This past May, we had my sister's Bridal Shower in their banquet hall. The space is beautiful - big windows and high ceilings (my favourite). Peter and the entire staff were extremely accommodating during the planning process. They went above and beyond for my family and I. The food was divine and everyone had a wonderful time.

A friend of mine recommended this restaurant, as I was looking for a reasonably higher end restaurant to take my girlfriend to for her birthday. This place did not disappoint. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food cooked to perfection. I was pleasantly surprised at the bill too. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

We had our wedding reception/dinner at The School earlier this month. Peter and the rest of the staff were incredible! From beginning to end, Peter was extremely helpful in helping us decide on the menu choices, wines, etc. He did not forget any of the details we discussed in our initial meeting. He kept in contact with me throughout and in the months leading up to the wedding, whether by phone or email. He made sure we got all of the choices we wanted. Our guests could not stop raving about how great the food was. I'm a long time patron of The School so I wasn't surprised about the quality of the food and service. We did not hire a wedding planner, but Peter made sure the ambience/atmosphere was exactly how we wanted! My husband dropped off all of our decor items the evening before the wedding day and Peter and his crew made sure the room was decorated/laid out the way we wanted. Peter, we cannot thank you enough. You were there on the day of the wedding and made sure everything went smoothly. We cannot wait to have dinner there again. We will definitely be celebrating special occasions there in the future - birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Thank you Peter, Nick and the rest of the staff at The School. You made our wedding day truly special!

We came to the School for Mother's Day brunch. Lovely venue, great atmosphere. We really wanted to like the food as well, and it wasn't terrible, but.
Let's just say that for the prices, they need a bit of work. Yes, we should all be happy to pay good money for decent food, especially as we exit Covid, which was so hard on restaurants. But presentation and attention to detail needs a bit of work. And servers, it's vital that you check in with people a few minutes after you've brought the food. Waiting until the plates are nearly empty is classic server neglect. It's not a diner, but coffee can be tastefully refilled at least once. And if someone has even a minor issue with the food, it's frustrating when your server goes missing after the plates are delivered.
Work on these details, folks. You're a decent place, but you could be excellent.

Didn't have a good experience, steak came out cold for our party, servers were rushed and busy. Found a Hair in the butter. Lack of attention to detail. Overpriced for what you get.

We liked the ambience but the food is overpriced for the quality you get. We ordered a charcuterie platter which was a bit disappointing and for the main course we had chicken and rib eye steak, which were fine but not worth the price. The service was ok but not top notch.
