Very cozy place to have dinner. Small but the food was amazing and the people were very friendly. Plan to go back and bring friends with us.

Me and my group ended up here by chance, and I’m so glad we did. I had the fish tacos with fries, my friends had the flat ironed steak with fries. Both dishes were delicious. The atmosphere was lovely. Prices are very fair, portions are good sizes.
Our server was so attentive and pleasant.
Highly recommend The Social for your next dinner outing.

This was a lucky find. We took a drive to Port Hope out of the blue and found this little gem. The food is excellent and the service was great. Our server even brought a bowl of water on the patio for our dog. The place is very clean inside and has a great vibe.

I had the steak and my wife the fish. Very good though I would have expected a vegetable with my steak.
Interesting architecture in the old building though the high ceiling contributed to the loud environment.
The menu is limited and priced on the high side.

It's small and quiet with friendly staff and pretty cool decor. The food was ok, it tasted fine but there was nothing that made me feel like I need to go back and explore the rest of the menu. They do have a lot of great reviews so maybe I went on an off date.

My fiancee and I chose to dine here Sunday afternoon excited to enjoy some delicious food and drinks on their patio.

Little did we know a wedding happened the night before and apparently cleaned them out of almost every menu item they had.

After selecting multiple items and being told they didn't have any brisket (which is half their menu) or scotch eggs. I simply denied to get food. They then brought out my fiancees "power bowl" and to our surprise it was bland and tasteless. Shaved veggies over bland quinoa. To charge these prices and offer unseasoned raw veg in a salad is a bit obsurd.

Won't be back.

The service was super on point. The food was amazing and super quick even thoughthey were full. We had the brisket and battered fish! Good wine selection too!

The fried chicken sandwich was overcooked and extremely salty, service wasn't great, and for some reason, the place was extremely cold and the ligting in the restaurant is extremely dark even with the little candle that's on your table that makes no difference.

What a lovely place for a nice lunch and a few drinks. Staff is exceptional, friendly and always busy.

Staff was super attentive, drinks were tasty, negroni made properly with more orange aroma than usual, which was a nice touch. Food was great, brisket tacos had a touch of spice, baked Brie was good, tried the pickerel, the fish was done beautifully, very flaky, the cold veg and coucous accompaniment wasn’t for my taste, but presentation was nice.

Such a cute spot in downtown Port Hope! My friend and I went for lunch after a long hike and it hit the spot! Their truffle fries are AMAZING!

It was a great experience overall! The entire menu seemed tasty, but severely lacking in substantial, filling vegetarian and vegan options (with proteins). Also, seating was cramped right against the entrance.

Salad was great. Mussels was so so. Portion is small. Server shown unhappy when saw me tipping. Won’t visit again

The first time I ate here I had the duck eggs Benny and it was very dry. A few months later I returned and the food I ordered was significantly better. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles served with apple butter. The chicken is very good! Crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffle could use some improvement. It is pale in colour, limp in aesthetic, and an almost densely spongy texture. I prefer my waffles golden crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The apple butter is good and also served with their Brie which I enjoyed on another occasion. Their muscles in a spicy tomato sauce are my favourite. I was swapped the fries for a salad and I highly recommend others do the same. Their maple dressing is fantastic and they should bottle it for sale. The oysters were good as well but not to my personal taste.

I no longer live in the area so I won’t be returning but I would recommend it to someone passing through or to celebrate a special occasion. There are two sides to the establishment, the social which is more casual and the twenty six which is more fine dining. Both share a kitchen and some menu items but each have exclusive offerings. Overall well done.

PS the chipotle Aoli is very good! Ask for a side with your fries. Or order the chicken sandwich if you’re fine with using your hands.

We had a fabulous lunch here today, on the outdoor patio. The food was delicious (I had a burger, my spouse had the fried chicken sandwich) and the staff were super. I have a food allergy and they accommodated it with no issue. Excellent service; we will stop in again the next time we're in Port Hope at meal time.
