Wonderful donuts - my wife and I bought two apple fritters, a "Burly" cream, and a red velvet cake slice. Each one was delicious and substantial. The cream donut was more cream than donut, which I believe is the holy grail of cream donuts.
Really nice place that would probably get a 5 star rating if the prices weren’t so high. We pop in from out of town once a year so it’s bearable but I feel sorry for the locals there having to pay $3.50 to $5 a Doughnut in a small town like Burlington, where I’ve tried similar Doughnuts for less in Downtown Toronto and Manhattan where the rent is ridiculous. They are really good I will say, but not the best I’ve ever had and at the end of the day it’s still a Doughnut, gourmet or not, so the math doesn’t really add up to me any which way I slice it. 3 Doughnuts were $15 so I kinda feel sorry for the people who plan to buy a dozen. Store has a nice design and concept and is kept clean which is always a bonus. Service was ok but a bit slow to be honest. Overall it’s a nice place and I would recommend it, if it’s within your budget for such an item. Fan Favourite. Dulce De Leche Doughnut is always on point
Pretty darn amazing, you must try it. 100% get the boston cream. The cream in the brute cream is really exceptional. That being said the non filled ones are good, but I'd never get them again. For donut feel it's kinda like a firmer krisky kream
Literally the best doughnut I've ever had in my life. Despite coming at 1pm on a Sunday there was so much selection! We got a glazed, sprinkle, and egg nog doughnut and they were all incredible. 10/10 would recommend.
Definitely recommend their donuts if you’re looking for a big treat. I was very impressed - yeast doughnut was light, puffy, and chewy exactly the way they should be and not greasy one bit. I had the burley cream which had a good amount of chocolate of top and decent filling ratio (I hate when it’s stingy). They are quite pricey bit they are big and as a treat, worth it.
Updated Nov 2021: My friend and I ventured this way for a donut adventure in the summer and while the donuts were delicious, there had been a mixup in flavourings with one of them. I contacted them just to let them know and while I was not expecting anything, they immediately offered for me to come back and get donuts another time. I finally made it back on Halloween weekend and the donuts were excellent. Boston Cream was terrific as I remembered and their Apple Caramel was outstanding - filling had perfect consistency and what flavour it had.
It really makes a difference when you have a business that puts their customers and food quality first and went above and beyond.
Finally got the opportunity to try this place out! Hours are a bit funny so I hadn’t had luck in the past. Good donuts, friendly staff. Large donut out front is great for pictures
On a overcast fall day, nothing in Burlington brightens the heart and tastebuds like Sunshine Doughnuts. I've visited multiple times over the last two years and haven't met a doughnut I didn't enjoy. My family and I all agree, the fritters are the very best.
Stumbled across this hidden gem. The warm greeting upon entry from Fulina was a welcomed change from a normal chain donut shop. She took her time to go over my options with zero rushing and offering her recommendations.
Top notch doughnuts. So tasty with some wicked original flavors.
Only two customers allowed at a time. Had the burly cream doughnut - very tasty and rich, topped with dark chocolate glaze. Think of it as a fancier, larger Boston Cream doughnut. Great place if you love doughnuts!
I do enjoy the donuts here, but their hours of service are crazy. They open after I’ve been at work for an hour and close before I’m even able to leave. I’m sure there are lots of people in the community who have the standard 9: 00-5: 00 job. If I ever wanted to grab a coffee or donut on my way in, it’s out of the question. And the weekend line ups are atrocious.
I would love to support this business more but the hours make this very difficult. I’m sure if you guys were open more you would have lots of foot traffic and customers.
This place is brilliant, with the ultra cool decor, super friendly staff and most important the best freshly made doughnuts.seasonal specialties and riffs on the classics with the bigger than your hand fritters. Met the owner when I was there - great people doing great things in downtown Burlington.
Finally made it in to try some donuts, only regret is not coming sooner! Donuts were amazing. Vibe and space is super cool and inviting. Staff were friendly and explained how things worked. Next time I’m trying the massive fritters!
Big donuts looking great but the taste is nothing special. Don't get me wrong they taste ok but not to die for. They look very pretty. Very nicely covered with this beautiful unhealthy icing and filled with this very yummy unhealthy cream. The dough is freshly made each day with flour and most likely some chemicals inside you puff it up and keep it fresh. The place is clean and echoey. Couldn't hear a thing what the donut professional was saying to me. They ask for tips each time you buy a donut. Don't understand the logic behind it. What is the tip for? Putting the donut in the box? At $6 per donut the price should include the tip.
Omg the most delicious freshly made donuts ever. Soft, fluffy and not huge, but a really good size. Not cheap but you do get what you pay for. Definitely worth it if you like a good donut.
:) What can we say. We came out to the Sound of Music and stayed at friends all weekend long. LOVED this place. Original. Creative. Quirky. Right up may alley. Doughnuts were divine and yes, packed some to go. Colourful, quality seriously great decor.
I messaged the Facebook page and through Facebook Messenger asking if there was vegan options and I had no response all day. Got there the girl working was nice but when asked if there was any vegan options she said only a cookie on the weekends. We also asked if the doughnuts had dairy as my husband is allergic and she couldn't give us an answer. They looked delicious and we would have loved to try them. Maybe you could try and inform your staff the ingredients in the products or having a sticker on the doughnuts indicating allergy information.
Wanted to order coffee/tea 10 minutes before closing time. The girl said they already shut down their machines as it was 3: 47 and they close at 4 pm. So do you close at 3: 47 OR 4: 00? !
$46 for a dozen donuts on skip the dishes before tax and the delivery charge. Are you ****ing nuts?
Was looking to try these cause they’re very close to me in Burlington and I usually drive to Hamilton to Monster Donuts so something closer would be nice. But yeah. I don’t know who on earth is paying $46 before tax and delivery on donuts, but it won’t be me. Off to Hamilton I go.
Delicious donuts that are worth the price. Fritters were the best I've ever had. The flavors in their icing and donuts are noticeable and make them a grade above the typical coffee chain's offering. Recommend going early for the best selection as they are known to sell out.
Wanna see how's living inside a fairy tale? That's Sunshine Doughnuts! Everything is colorful, beautiful and aesthetic. Staff are lovely and. Of course, the doughnuts! Oh, words can't describe these beauties. Just go. Believe me, you will not regret! (But go early! They're soooo good that sometimes they're sold out before 2pm.)
This place has a selection of perhaps 8 donuts. All extremely sickly and yet tasteless. Outrageously expensive also. We went expecting something special and left bitterly disappointed. Little change from $10 for two dull donuts which the girl at the counter dropped face down on the counter bagging them. Won’t return. Won’t recommend.
Someone picked them up on the way to the office. You can tell the donuts were made fresh. They were fluffy and soft. The icing was incredible. Together they are magic. I need to get out here myself one day.
First time at this establishment. The dark roast coffee is amazing. Just had the burly doughnut and it was delicious! Waiting to eat the apple fritter until later, but looking forward to it. I highly recommend Sunshine and will be back next time we are in town.
