Suya Spot continues to be the place to get the right vibes connecting what's obtainable back home in Nigeria and here in Toronto. The suya whether chicken, beef or mutton (lamb) are savory and/or tasty. It takes you back home. Services are good and there's a mature setting all around. You get to listen to good music from the motherland and beyond. You should be here.

My first time eating out Nigerian food since arriving Canada and I was expecting to get a taste of real Nija Jollof but my expectations were all shattered.
We ordered meal for about 6 persons and a free vegi salad on the house. The beef Suya was not fresh and the taste was very different from the Naija Suya. We also ordered the goat suya which was more like fried goat meat. Nice man, great hospitality, and thank you.

The goat meat was quite nice, sufficient parking space available, the music was a bit too loud though.

…Nigerian music all the wayyyyy The beef-suya is amazing but trust me you will go back for the goat meat-suya? …veryyy spicey so choose your poison well?

Love Suya Spot… only gave it 4 stars because the Suya on the weekend doesn’t taste like how the weekdays Suya taste. Mon-Thurs the lady that is there makes the best juiciest Suya. I’m not sure who the chef is on the weekend, but it is usually dry and not as enjoyable. My husband and I only buy Suya during the week now and we are never disappointed:)

This place has the worst customer service ever. Twice they got my orders wrong, the third time they did not add on my Suya pepper and worst of all, I complained to the so-called manager (#the tall black guy with dreads). He was so rude, argued with me, talked over me and made references to McDonald's. Well, I beg to differ; McDonald's would have resolved the matter in a much more reasonable and gentle manner. He was persistent in his lack of respect. He was condescending and he kept saying that they added pepper to all their orders and dismissed everything I had to say. He never apologized once (literally calling me a liar). He does not know the first thing about customer service and should not speak to anyone like that. Keeping it in mind that there are other Suya places across Toronto, I certainly will never refer anyone here, and I will no longer patronize this restaurant.

Why are you so rude? I have been reading customer's complaints, you are too proud to admit your mistakes. I have actually tried your suya, what you really do is fry it. Does suya need frying Absolutely no. Please accept your mistakes and correct it period. Just look at some of your rude responses, you think say na only una dey town now? Them done plenty and them dey do very well. Very rude hissss.

I was charged 40CAD for a large catfish, got home to see this guy wrapped up a tadpole supported by plenty green beans and sweet corn, he used plenty foil paper to wrap it.very bad experience + it was my first time buying anything there.
01 November 2021 16:33
I've been reading your reply to the reviews from people who came to your spot to spend their hard earned money only to end up being disappointed, you think you're trying to play down the situation but you sound silly and very unprofessional. You sell your fish in 30Cad and 40Cad worth depending on the size, I opted for 40cad so don't come here to tell me my pocket didn't allow me buy a bigger one. And yes I said it was a tadpole cos that thing you wrapped up in multiple layers of foil obviously couldn't be called a fish.

I was excited to try and support black businesses. But after the service and trying the beef suya I wasn’t too impressed. It has potential but I don’t believe it’s traditional suya.reminded me of an overcooked skirt steak

Dear managment
I usually don't make reviews but felt compelled in this case.
I would first like to let you know how much I enjoy your Suya. I order as least once week but only in the week. I use to come in on the weekend as well but stopped because the taste and portions of the food wasnt as good as in the week. Wednesday I ordered beef Suya with fried yam. AMAZING (thank you Marsha) I enjoyed so much I decided to order tonight (friday) with a lot of hesitation because of past bad experiences with the taste of the weekend food. Of course I was left upset with my order. The beef taste like I just through it on my grill with some seasoning salt (small portion) The yams were not fried dry and crispy and had a weird taste. I was so upset I throw it away. Im not a Suya expert but I do know the flavour is not consistent through the entire week. I will go back to ordering just once in the weekday.

Addicted to the meat sooo good. Beef is the best! I wanted to leave my well deserving 5*. Newcomers ignore the haters and try for yourself.

I was quite disappointed. I ordered Assorted meat everything was overcooked and even burned I have everything except the " chicken, gizzards and beef". The towel was so strong. It was not looking appetising. I even tried eating but the flavour was not there I was unable to finish or even eat half. On the other hand. The rice and the plantain were very good and satisfying. For the price I expected better

Horrible service! I made an order for pick-up through the phone specifically asking for the Beef Suya. This same situation has happened to me before in the past, so I was very clear on my order. My dad picks up the order and it's the incorrect order. Why is it difficult to get what I asked for. I would have ordered Mixed Suya if I wanted Mixed Suya! Then what was really disappointing and frustrated me is even the lack of onions on the side, since when did we start eating suya with coleslaw and 3 strings of onions on top. Also, if something is classified as a Mixed, I expect similar portions of assorted, why is my order 80% lungs with 20% shaki! Where is the originality! I should trust the eatery to get my order correct but I guess I would have to start advising people to be careful with this eatery. You have to start double checking your order before you leave their premises. SHAME!

I ordered for a large goat Suya today September 12,2020 and was given a cold and disgusting small and bony old meat including a dirty and smelling vegetables. I called the restaurant and the lady told me that unfortunately they can’t do anything and was not apologetic. This is totally unacceptable, fraudulent and service failure. I will not recommend this restaurant further to anyone.

I have ordered beef soya mouth watering something from the menu. I ordered it because my friend was bragging about this restaurant and was telling me all they do is fresh food. I decided to try it and it was not like I was expecting. The beef soya costed me $22 with tax and the meat was pretty much from yesterday and they only have warmed it. The meat was dry enough to chew for ages. The restaurant was not hygienic as there was flies all over the place and I was fighting those flies not to have portion of my food. My friend didn’t like the outcome either so he asked them to get him another beef of the same order and make it fresh. They gave him the same dry meat. This was so frustrating.

Its a place to reminisce especially for those from West Africa, especially Ghana and Nigeria. Real "Suya" as prepared back in the homeland. Great taste.
27 July 2020 2:51
Whenever I call someone is there to pick up my call and the goat and the chicken taste soo good.
04 May 2020 4:58
I know Nigerian Restaurant dont care about the review but I am doing this as the first negative review in my life. I placed an order two goat suya, to the shock of my, got home and this restaurant packed beef suya. To crown it all, I called to report the wrongdoing, the lady that answered the call started behaving as if the food giving to me is free. Very unfortunate such habit!

Wow wow wow, best African wakis and Suya, great place for fun with friends. Met a good number white guys enjoying the African Suya

Lots to improve on. I hope the owner does not attack my name and personality for giving 3 stars.
13 January 2020 10:26
The atmosphere is high energy, lively, and fun. I love this place. The Beef suya taste so good with plantain.
22 November 2019 7:02
The place was neat. Our suya order took a while to be ready but it was okay. Also I didn’t know I couldn’t order food like jollof rice at the restaurant. Cos I was told I can only order jollof from them through skipthedishes delivery service. All in all, it was an okay experience. My friends and I ordered plantain and suya. I really wish the plantain would have come with some type of sauce. I found it difficult to enjoy eating plantain on its own. But all in all the portions are good and the food was ok.

Real African BBQ beef called Suya it's original ethnic name. The owners have turned this delicacy into a weekly must eat. Tasty.spicy.well prepared. Ideal for any occasion.

Great music but zero service. The table we sat at had leftover takeout food box and no one came to pick it up. We wanted to put it in the garbage but there was none in sight. It takes a while just to get drink and the drink is pretty much beer, no other option. The space to dance is limited downstairs.

Absolutely the worst African establishment I ever went to. A perfect example of what is wrong with Africans in the diaspora. Rude customers, no customer service whatever, people skipping lines, the condenscending attitudes and arrogance of the hosts. Every single time I've been to this establishment it has been the same rude exchange and lack of customer service. The place is a jungle, customers are not even acknowledged nevermind getting service. I'll be taking the 20mins drive to the Scarborough location whenever I crave suya.
30 August 2019 11:48
Never a dull moment here every customer is treated like a guest, a well recognized grilled beef and goat with bear of your choice you can never find a place like this in the west, this guys are more than chilled the weekend here will make u dance your feet off.good crowd good food, good people, good music any day of the week.

It’s a wonder this place remains in business!
Unacceptable customer service and rudeness from lady at the till (not sure if she is the owner)
Competition for this type of cuisine is limited, I am African and drove >1 hour to be treated like this?
You best order from skip the dishes, no need to mess up your day with this lot!
24 August 2019 20:50
Some of the staff are disorganised, rude and lack exceptional customer service except for one staff member who is always sweet and listens to her customers. Usually they don't answer phone calls or they answer and hang up. Most of the time their reason is the music is too loud. What's the point of having phone orders if the music is so loud? Despite of their poor customer service their food is good.
10 July 2019 4:37
Very unfriendly rude and non professional receptionist. She did not make me like I wanna eat there. She was so cold not like the one that is generally working there.
20 February 2019 22:02
The suya is really deliciois, But watch out for that pepper they put on the side. It's mega hot.
18 February 2019 23:42
Amazing place that offers great food and a great African experience! Connect with your roots through good food and great music. You will have an unforgettable experience!

Very comfortable, amazing food, good music, and great customer service definitely will be returning!

People kept on telling me about this place which made me to visit. I was actually disappointed; the barbecue I ordered seemed not fresh; it was as though it had been preserved for so long and merely microwaved before being served to me. It was a horrible experience, hopefully they will do a better job next time for me to forget this experience.

I rated this place 2 stars earlier but the impression I had on my first visit has been erased by a better treatment on my second visit. Their suya was well made and the on-site dj gave us sounds from the other side of the Atlantic. But they could do better by increasing the number of their servers and caterers to reduce wait-time at the counter. Here is a three star!

As a Nigerian, I know the actual value of the items here. The price has got to be the biggest turn off for me. Plantains are not expensive, and the labour to make Suya is not crazy! Please fix your prices. I understand you offer something that isn't very common in Toronto, but damn guys, this is Nigerian Street food!
I wrote this at Afro fest because I was reminded by the obnoxious person on the mega phone representing you. 5pcs of plantain for 5$ is a scam!

EDIT: for the hilarious response! Oga, dis be my own oh! Look at it!

Been there once, ate the suya, didn't taste that good. Was too hard, dark and never looked fresh. I guess that's the difference betwn this suya & that of Nigeria. Suya needs to be fresh, with that oily topping dripping on it. Make it right
