THE TEN SPOT annex

The service was pretty underwhelming. I came in for the virgin brazilly and the technician was doing everything fast and I felt that they were really passive about the fact that I was visibly in pain. On top of that the receptionist was giving a lot of attitude after I asked a general question, which was really upsetting. I’ll be going to a different location next time.

Edit (Dec 12) : I reached out to the nail salon via the email they provided, but it's been almost a week and there's been no reply from their end.

I want to preface this review by stating that this is in no way targeting my nail tech specifically, but more so directed towards the establishment itself for the price point at which the service (regular manicure) was set at ($50, not including gratuity) for what I got (see below).

The service included: exfoliation, hand massage, nail filing, cuticle removal, and polish application. I understand that the $50 price point has not just the polish application factored in, however the polish is the main focal point and what I'm walking away with. It was mediocre at best.

I'm not a professional nail artist, but I can spot red flags when I see them:
1. My nails were cut and filed down before I was asked what shape I wanted. At that point, it was very hard to shape my nails because they were stubs (my nails were long coming in).
2. My nails were filed in a sawing motion.
3. My nail tech kept having to redo some nails because she kept accidentally touching my nails with her application hand.
4. For one of the nails that was redone, my nail tech forgot that it was drying and accidentally put a glob of top coat on it but quickly caught herself. This created a gap in the middle of my nail, where the colour separated. Not to mention, this nail only got one coat of colour, while my other nails got two coats.
5. While cleaning up the work on the skin around my nails, my nail tech accidentally took off the sides of some of my nails too, leaving these uneven gaps.
6. The hand massage and exfoliation part were about a minute each.

Overall, I could've just done this at home by myself. In fact, I actually took it all off as soon as I got home and did my own nails. There are better salons around the area that charge the same price FOR GEL (my service was for regular polish).

Cut all my eyebrows off with scissors during a wax. I'll have to fill my once beautiful and full eyebrows with a pencil for the next two months until they grow back. Not impressed.

Tracy did a great job with my gnarly cuticles and was lovely to chat with.i'll be back!

I’ve been frequenting the spot for 10 years now. However, this was my first visit to this location. People there are rude and unapproachable. Not tens spot quality at all. Brought my husband for his first waxing and they ruined his life. Will not return.

Went to this location after my local Ten Spot had to cancel my threading, manicure and pedicure appt at the last minute. I’ve had my threading done at this location before and I’ve always been happy with the service.
Unfortunately, my nails were just okay. The esthetician was friendly and focused on shaping and polishing my nails. The mani shellac polish wasn’t evenly distributed on all my nails, some areas are slightly lighter than others. The shape is slightly lopsided on some nails. I didn’t notice until I got home. The work isn’t terrible, but it’s not the quality I’m use to receiving at my local Ten Spot. My nails look like they were done by someone with less experience than I’m use. For this reason, I’m giving the shellac mani a 3, but the threading is a 5.

Love this spot! Immaculately clean, huge colour selection and amazing staff. We were here for a regular manicure and two kids’ manicures, the staff were lovely and we all loved our experience.

Tracey did such a wonderful job on my pedicure. My feet needed so much love and she was so detailed and fun to talk to during the whole service.

Came 15 minutes late on a Sunday morning and they cancelled my appointment and took my payment. The person who greeted me had a lot of attitude about my lateness, I didn’t fight it. Just disappointed.

I had a wonderful mani and pedi by Shay, she was sweet and attentive. She took her time but also was able to produce lovey nails in a relatively short time. Very clean atmosphere, I will definitely be back!

We got a pedicure and gel manicure, and the quality of work was great. I was disappointed with the overall experience as I’ve been to other locations like the one in Port Credit and on Queen, and those are far superior. We weren’t offered any drinks and when we asked, the answer we got was “water” - even though we could see the coffee machine and sparking wine. We were making this an experience as it was a gift and I was embarrassed by the lack of service.

The staff were very friendly and prompt with service. I'd love to return to try out other services in the future.

Wonderful experience with Isabelle. Very happy with thongkini service. However, consistently unsatisfied with how my eyebrows turn out, so will likely look elsewhere for that. Overall great experience, thank you for making me feel comfortable during the pandemic:)

Came here with my friend. Great service. My friend and I got the gel manicure and pedicure but it’s a little overpriced. Our gel didn’t last beyond a week and a half.

Edit: after trying out a different spot nearby, I’ve realized how extremely overpriced for the quality this place is.

Eyebrows were laminated, shaped and tinted. VERY Happy with the results from Ali. Will definitely be back.

Amazing service! I didn’t finish booking an appointment, I thought I did, and showed up for my “appointment” the receptionist was super nice and helpful in getting me an appointment while I was there. I wish I remember the girls name who did my eyebrows and lashes because she did absolutely amazing.

Everything was CLEAN and orderly. These times require extenuated care. Ten Spot Annex has got their game together!

All my experiences at the Ten Spot have been excellent. They are exceptionally clean and professional.

Their attention to health and hygiene was very impressive and I felt completely comfortable being in their space.

My pedicurist did an amazing job and really took her time to make my toes look great. I felt safe & comfortable that all COVID-19 precautions were being followed and exceeded. Will definitely come back in the future.

Ive been to ten spot before and enjoyed my service. This was my first time getting a quickie facial. It was amazing. I would do it again for sure! My skin feels amazing and I'm very happy with my service. Thank you again!

My appointments have always been on time and everyone has been very nice. The facilities are always very clean.

I got my brows tinted here and I love how it turned out! The staff is friendly and welcoming and the space is very clean. Always a wonderful experience! Highly recommend.

I can't recommend Tabitha enough. She is amazing at her job. She really listens to my requests and does a great job tinting my brows and lashes to suit my natural colouring. She's honestly the best:)

I live in the neighbourhood and have come here off and on over the last few years. I can pretty much always get a last minute appointment and I know the place is sanitary. I do think their gel/shellac is overpriced, especially give that they charge an extra $10 for removal IF you are getting gel/shellac put back on (most places charge $5 IF they charge at all). That being said, I had a rather terrible experience last week - walked out and realized the nail tech had done the gel so far away from my cuticles that it looked like it was already a week old. When I went back in and asked about it, I was told by Tabitha who did my nails that it was normal (and she looked at me like I have 2 heads.) - I've been getting gel/shellac manicures for years and I've never experienced that, but i digress. I was pretty upset and sent the company an email. They called me immediately and offered me a full credit to make it right. Went back yesterday (since it looked like it was already 2 weeks old despite getting it done less than a week ago), and saw Gina - she was FANTASTIC. Very professional and it no longer looks like it is already growing out. I wouldn't say this is my go-to place, but they certainly made the situation right and for that they get 5 stars. Customer service goes a long way and there are many businesses in Toronto that can learn a thing or two from the Ten Spot Annex.

Good spot for a Mani/pedi. I go less often than I would like because I'm busy but they are great.

I booked a wax appointment and found that while the staff are super nice and respectful the technician failed to go over any information before the session, after paying.this meant i couldn't get the area i wanted fully done and follow up appointments were also not mentioned until i was on my way out. I think the only change they should make is a proper consult or conversation prior to the laser to make sure its the right option for you. Why did I leave only 2 stars if I had one complaint? I left with the feeling of being conned/scammed, and that doesnt sit right with me.

This location is my favourite! There are others closer to my house, but everyone is so friendly, I feel like I’m coming home every time I’m here

Everyone at this location is a lovely human and they make you feel so welcomed every time! Ranju is amazing and she gives the best facials and is a threading master. If your looking for a quality facial with top products and care, look no further.

I'm always impressed by the level and consistency of the service they provide here! It's definitely my go-to nail and waxing spot in the Annex. Everyone working at this location is friendly, informative, and customer focused. When I had an issue with the colour of the gel polish I chose discoloring due to one of the products I use, and emailed them to explain the problem, they were quick to call me back within two hours and offer solutions. I'd highly recommend them and will keep coming back here!

Great manicure (they dont use drills!), clean place, friendly staff and complimentary hot drinks.just what i needed on a cold night!

Wonderful! My technician, Sophia was very efficient and nice and so was the receptionist. It was my first time for waxing and tinting. The entire process was so unintimidating and easy I didn't feel out of place! I loved the entire process.

Hey! This place is alright. Close, convenient, professional, and they give out free stuff sometimes (lip balm, Prairie Girl cupcakes, etc.)

I can book online and that suits me just fine. 5/5 - will recommend!

We brought a party of nine in with four days notice, and Sophie was so helpful getting everything together for us. Once we arrived, the ladies could not have been nicer or more accommodating. A bonus - with Mean Girls on the TV - could not have asked for a better experience, and everyone’s nails look amazing!

Got a bikini wax and mani and i had an amazing time <3! The girls were courteous and space was clean, and they gave me shows to watch to distract me from the pain lol! And after the mani was amazing, got a hand massage and a cookie for the road! Would totally come again, the atmosphere was light and welcoming and service was great!

Very disappointed with the poor cuticle work and messy shellac job here. Worst manicure I've had in Toronto and the most overpriced.

Great service. However, please offer more colours in the Essie gel couture line — specifically all shades of green (including lime and mint) and more yellows. The selection is far too limited now.

I have to be honest, after reading some of these revoews, I was a little nervous to come in to my appointment. I was fully expecting to give this place a 3/5, but man oh man they deserve the 5/5. Everyone was super nice and friendly right from the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left. The women who did my services (Mani and pedi) was amazing. For the life of me, I can't remember her name however she did everything right. It was relaxing and peaceful and everything I needed on a Monday morning.
I highly recommend everyone go in and get their relax on.

Great location. Been to 3 different ten spots in the last few years and ended up settling down here because of the great service. I've been going to Tracy for 2+ years for my brows and could not be happier. Consistently knows what I need and does a fantastic job on the wax and tint and always makes me feel comfortable and beautiful. Highly recommend!

I have been going to the Ten Spot Annex for the past two years or so and its amazing! I alwaysssss see Tracy! Because she’s just the best! During every step of my pedicure/ manicure I am asked whether or not I am pleased with my service (water temp, length and shape of nails, pressure, nail colour etc) In a nutshell Tracy is a perfectionist! Also very friendly and hilarious!

I fell in love with this location from my very first visit, staff are all so attentive, such great customer service!
