Got the seasonal special Peach Jelly Roll and a basket of local peaches today. They are sooooooo delicious. 10/10.

Absolutely gorgeous flowers. The florist here is a true artist. My pre-ordered bouquet was fresh and above and beyond what I asked for! Highly recommend!

Nice and cozy grocery shop. Not too big but lots of unique choices. Mixed belly cream roll is their signature product - strongly recommend. Friendly and helpful staffs. Price a bit higher compare to other grocery shop, but in terms of quality, it worth the money.

They only stock the best of the best. All of the prepared foods and meats are wonderful. That’s are always smiling and helpful. That’s why I’ve been a client for over 30 years.

This place is a gem. I go out of my way to come here whenever I can and it always delivers.

Amazing selection, great looking produce, ice cream is the best I’ve ever had, bakery makes delicious items for a solid price. Recommend shopping their sales which are great for high quality products.
Bonus their fri/ weekend bbqs are absolutely delicious for only $15-20, amazing customer service!

One of the best grocery stores in Toronto. It's small and the selection isn't huge but everything they carry is fantastic. Lots of really good fresh made food is available (the pandemic has cut the options down a bit).

A neighbourhood fine food grocery store, featuring top notch high end produce & meat, extensive in-store bakery and deli counter, with ready made food, sandwiches, soups & salads. Eating area is available for coffee, lunch or snacks. Store made ice creams are extra creamy with seasonal fruit flavours.

What makes this a two star. I bought ready made ribs and sides. Sent email to store about how bad the ribs were dry and over cooked. They did not reply back to me. I was not asking for money. Just wanted them to know. Sad they do not care about this

Fantastic local grocery store with everything you could need. Unfortunately due to the lack of spacing inside it can get quite difficult to maneuver.

Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving for some delicious baked goods and fresh produce. I would suggest coming here early in the day because some cakes and rolls are often sold out by the afternoon.

My family and I love going to The Village Grocer. We used to go to their previous location years ago but once they moved to Kennedy and 16th, everything got so much better. The customer service is always great on every visit. There are lots of speciality items to choose from including beautiful flowers, plants and delicious fruits. The jelly roll is my favourite item from there. It contains sponge cake rolled in whipped cream with various berries in between. It always makes for a great contribution to any event. Just be aware of the prices when visiting because some items are very inflated compared to your average grocery store.

Amazing store. The pizza is to die for if you like thick crust. Alex made the pizza fresh and you can always ask in advance for a whole square pizza. Any pizza you try you'll find it perfect. We love to visit anytime we are in the area. Products sold there are high quality and fresh! Staff friendly and lots of parking spots.

I tried the mixed berry jelly roll. The sponge cake is a bit dry, but the cream and berries fresh and delicious. It’s such a nice treat to share with the family.

The store is very clean and organized, and I can find everything I need there with new brands and beautiful culinary tools and cookware.

When I tried the fruit jelly cake it was dry stale and too sweet. The store itself is nice but I’ve tasted much better elsewhere.

If you ever go to Village Grocery, you must try their Jelly Roll Log Cake! It’s the best & must have at our gatherings. Tried their apple pie tonight and we all enjoyed it, especially with ice on cream on top! My daughter loves their macarons (two
Sizes) and cannolis! I love their flatbread pizza and almost everything else!

Their stuff there aren’t cheap but always fresh and good quality.

I've purchased several prepared meals and bakery items from TVG. Given the high-end prices, I expected better taste/quality ($13 for a slice of lasagna, the sauce tasted like it was from a can). Their produce/butcher counter is better but also expensive.

This is such a gem in Markham! Village Grocer is small but mighty, they carry a lot of hard to find foods all in one place. The selection is large and varied and they also carry a lot of local goods (e.g. Pasta from a restaurant DT, bread from a baker in Markham, etc). The interior has a very cozy vibe to it and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Be sure to make a reservation for their baked goods for those special occasions!

2022 January 4 a very nice and cozy supermarket serving the nearby community. Lots of unique products on the shelves that you typically wouldn't find in larger chains or big box stores makes this place a must visit for special items. They continue to have an assortment of frozen foods in the freezer.
Recently had their home made ice cream - Ferro Rocher and it was awesome! Made of cream and other regular ingredients (nothing you couldn't pronounce). A bit pricier than other ice cream, but definitely worth the money for the unique flavors. Staff continues to be good.

2018 4 Staff is nice and friendly. The bakery is awesome. Deli is great too. Good cheese selection. We often come for the bakery. They got some unique assortment of stuff on the shelves that you won't find elsewhere - and one of the other reasons why you should pay a visit. The extra premium is worth it. Cozy place. Good atmosphere.

Look at the discrepancy! It's totally unexceptable. Advertisement vs reality.

The thing I'm most unsatisfied with is that when I brought it back to the store to return. The Supervisor at the cashier said with a sarcastic tone "It's OK, someone else will take it. " With no apology at all. Attitude is not acceptable. Not sure how they are going to resell the product when I return it during covid times. Beware, next buyer.

Serving Markham and Unionville for over 3 decades with quality meats, baked goods and produce. There are very few grocery stores I like more.

Great grocery store but cashiers' attitudes constantly a disappointment.

I shop at VG once a week mainly for their steak cuts which are top notch. They're pricey but worth it ($40-45/kg so about $60 for 2 pieces of sirloin). The butcher team is great, very knowledgeable, friendly and always helping getting the right pieces. Likewise for the deli and bakery team.

The same cannot be said about checkout time at the cashiers. For some reason, the service with the cashiers have been consistently poor. As others have mentioned, not a lot of greeting or 'please' or 'thank you's.

My last interaction yesterday the cashier literally said 2 things - "Next in line" to me at the beginning and then after scanning everything "$94.13".
Cashier customer service could use major improvements.

A quaint little grocery, nestled on its own, off hwy 16 in Markham. Even before stepping into the store, the look and aesthetic is that of a small town market. Just reaching the door there's this aroma of bbq/smoke smell that just draws you in that much faster. On the inside, you find the most unique products, quite a few in-house varieties not typically found in just any big box grocery store. It's packed with goodness for anything your heart desires (well mine, at least) for any meal that will be sure to tempt your palate. I truly appreciate the selection of high quality at this grocery market. I've only been coming here for 5 months and the staff is both friendly and knowledgeable. The customer service is second to none. Believe me, I know. It's a clean, professional & comforting place to shop and is sure not to disappoint.

Nice environment, but overpriced items. A $30 cake for my birthday was wayyy too overpriced. DIDN'T EVEN TASTE GOOD!

I like to go shopping at the Village Grocer. It’s not a big supermarket, yet you can explore so many things! Especially, I love their bakery. I think the Mixed Berries Jelly Roll is their signature! If you have not try it yet, you MUST. It is soft, moderate sweetness, and fully stuffed fruits are well balanced together! It became our family’s birthday cake!

It's quite hard not to love this place. I'd probably go more if some staples didn't have the 20% upcharge. For a special cut of meat, freshly made dishes and a large selection of nearly everything that is delicious, this is the place to be

Been popping in more often (the lure of the cookies?) and I must admit: staff is super kind, the food is literally super fresh (no wastage, ever) and I just love the shopping experience. I love browsing and getting new ideas because they literally have *anything* and *everything*.

I always come here for the baked goods and ice cream! They have a fantastic selection of their own ice cream and each flavour has been a hit so far!

I love Village Grocers. They have unique things you won't find anywhere else. Their homemade store counter, cakes, frozen foods, all of it is absolutely the best you'll ever taste. Their meat counter is devine!

Very nice store, unique looking gourds outside that you can buy. I got their carrot cake, it was very dense and a bit too sweet, but it was still really good.

Tightly packed, well stocked little store. Great for pastries and baked goods in general. You can receive weekly updates on what's on sale by email. We like like their sausages. Won't buy much of anything else as everything is just hugely overpriced.

One of my favourite grocery stores. Always something new to try and they sell local brands. Friendly and warm service. If you're in the area make sure to pass by!

Came here for the first time a few weeks ago, worth the hour's drive from my home. Incredible store. The blogTO article about your ice cream put you on the radar and your instagram picture of the coconut cream pie sealed the deal, and I wasn't disappointed as it was the tastiest coconut cream pie we've ever had, even better than a local top-notch standalone bakery, and also the best ice cream we've ever had, better than some very well-known "best ice cream in the GTA" shops around, and lots of quality goods throughout the store.

I don't write a lot of reviews but figured I have to after seeing the negative ones here about the capacity limits. How childish. I'd say I'm surprised by the negative reviews, but sadly after over a year in this pandemic I'm no longer surprised seeing things like this, just disappointed in my community. The number of people who apparently A) buy into the hoax that COVID is "just a cold" and/or B) are happy to blame local small businesses for capacity restrictions imposed by governments (regardless of their views on the pandemic itself) is appalling. I for one greatly appreciate the one shopper for family rule and I'm certain there are many more customers who feel the same way. I would probably not shop here if the lineups were much longer than they are now, especially in the heat, this rule helps keep them short. I don't see any possible reason that 2 or more adults or older teens need to enter the store together or 2 parents need to enter with 2 children when a parent could easily stay at home or in the car with them (and I'm sure if there were a truly valid reason the store would accommodate it, as they do for example young children with single parents) ; this is a huge irritant of mine at Longo's when I see groups shopping together like this as their selfish behaviour puts me and my family at an unnecessarily greater risk of contracting the virus when we're the ones following public health advice (and common sense) doing things like having just one person go grocery shopping.

My regrets to the staff for having to deal with quite a bit of nonsense around this policy which is fundamentally really more York Region and Ontario's policy than theirs. I'm sure most of your customers appreciate or at least understand and don't begrudge you it, and of course kudos on the incredible goods especially the bakery and creamery!

The Village Grocer is a cute local store where you can buy all sorts of fresh groceries. They even have a home brand ice cream like with lots of different flavors like raspberry matcha jelly roll and butter tart.

Very pretty, and cool selection. Social distancing was lacking, however. You’ll want a good mask.

Our first time visiting VG and from all the reviews we were expecting a good experience. We bought some prime rib and lamb sausages for a BBQ. The beef sausages had an awful taste - as if they used expired meat that had been rotten. It was utterly disgusting. I've never had such a poor experience - sure some places had bad sausages with lots of filler or just were not fresh. But here, this is a whole new level of bad - they were rotten! I've also noticed some inconsistent reviews as of late - making this place hit or miss. It may be that this place used to be good, but perhaps suffers from poor management, COVID burdens or something else.but bottom line, given the prices these folks charge, why take the risk and instead spend your money at a place that delivers consistent quality.

This place is great for specialty items only. Do not buy generic products from this place or you'll be paying 2x the cost! Great for Olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars, truffle oils, etc.

Nice products but they have a “one shopper per family” rule in place ostensibly for “protection” but functionally all that does is protect profits. Capacity is the issue, not number of individual shoppers/unit area. You show up with more than one and you either leave or someone has to sit with the car running in the lot, neither ideal.

Pouring rain, yet was denied entry due to having an infant as that was against their "one member per household" policy. Very poor management for not training staff to take care of patrons properly.

Food quality is amazing. All the workers are helpful and kind at the meat section. There is ONE cashier that always gives me attitude on every visit though. (She has a brown curly pixie cut, kind of short with glasses. Maybe 50 - 60 years old?) Today she ignored me when I was unloading my groceries and continued to chat with her coworker and started calling someone. Then she tossed my groceries into a bag without thought. You should know better not throw a bag of oranges on top of a cake right? Other than her ruining my visit every time, I otherwise love Village Grocer.

This place is posh, and jam-packed with an impressive selection of goods given how little space they have to work with.

The fruit roll here is out of this world. I'd recommend visiting this place just for the cakes alone!

Shopping at VG for over 40 years. Great place to meet friends for lunch and coffee. Exceptional food, meat, fish and bakery.

A little on the expensive side but well worth it in my opinion. The quality of the meat, bakery and produce are excellent and the shopping experience is very pleasant. A great place to go for lunch also, the hot table and sandwiches are fresh and well prepared,

Don't go here without having a coffee first, you'll need to caffeine to get through. There is so much good food and ingredients here: cheese, fresh bread and vegetables being highlights. The range of unusual and unique cooking ingredients is huge with almost all cuisines at least having some coverage.

This place is cool, so much selection in a smaller size store. It is pricey for some items but quality of product is great so I don't mind the extra cost.

Boutique grocery store, however on the pricey side. They have a sit-in cafe where one can enjoy breakfast, snacks or dinner with coffee. Baked goods & cooked foods are excellent. Good service.

A very nice boutique supermarket. Has a lot of unique items that you won’t find in regular grocery stores. But know that you will pay premium for some ordinary products. Some are just worth trying even for the premium price! Tried the cakes a couple times and very tasty and flavourful. Haven’t had items from their hot table but during the lunch hour, it seems like a lot of traffic going towards the ready made meals. Will go back to try out some snack items for the family that I saw in passing!

My favourite grocery market in Markham. High quality foods, unique dessert options and doesnt get nearly as busy as other grocery stores.

Great store, very nice selection of everything, great bakery, overall great experience anytime I visit. The only little disappointment I had during my last few visits is that some of the veggies I wanted to purchase (e.g. Asparagus, green onions, etc.) were in really bad shape.doesn't happen often, but I can't leave it out from my review.

In my opinion this is the best grocery store in the city. Epic dessert options, stellar meat and fish and incredible fruit and vegetable. Very pricey to be sure but very much worth it. Not as expensive as Whole Foods but definitely as good or better quality. Catering and breakfast options are also fantastic. Try the chicken and goat cheese sandwiches; it's the best sandwich I've ever tasted.

It's an upscale grocery, but they offer fantastic sandwiches and good muffins that make a great lunch. The sandwich prices are very fair for what you get.

They have some decent niche items in the the produce area, very good sauce selection too.
I really like their steaks and prime burgers, sauseges are pretty good too. I've asked questions about the meat blends or ingredients and they usually "don't know" which I find strange for a specialty store.
Also don't buy any of the salads at the front, sort of basic with the opposite of "basic" pricing.
