Classic barber shop, cash only, keep in mind prices have been raised recently.
Before my first visit I called (and at the time I did not know which barber it was) but when I first called to make an appointment I felt she intentionally was rude as if annoyed I should already know information about this establishment. Although before my first call, I had never been here before.
I’ve had my hair cut by 2 of the barbers now, and have a pretty good idea who that barber was that I first spoke with. I’ve decided not to return as I don’t care for her attitude. Good location, great design of the shop, classic cut and shave, fancy antique cash register, there’s some wonderful barbers, but my overall experience was 3/5 stars.

The Walper Barbers has a history that goes beyond the 1800s. They were originally part of the Walper Hotel hotel in downtown Kitchener and had to move out of the hotel. They were part of the hotel since the inception in the 1800s and had to move out almost after 127 years.

The Barbers here are part of the team which served the barber shop in the Walper Hotel prior to moving out. They were able to take the name and domain for "Walper" as they moved out and hence the name "The Walper Barbers".

The quality of the haircut is great here as everyone is super talented.

You can expect a very retro look when you go there as this place has a long history. You can also ask about the history of this place and I am sure you will learn more every time you go.

The prices are reasonable as compared to the other Barber shops around in the KW area. Highly recommend to take an appointment before going in if you would like to have an appointment with Sandra.

There are 2 parking spaces available in front of the shop and there is 2 hr parking available on the street.

They take only cash and no card payments.

I've been coming to this barber for about 5 years now, and I have no reason to look elsewhere, Rob and his team are all really wonderful people and I have yet to leave disappointed with their work.

Their prices are fair and they've been accomodating to everyone throughout the pandemic as well.

Don't even look for another Barber, this is the place for you.

Wow this place really delivers on a haircut. Sandra was incredible, she really knows how to cut hair. Modern place with an old school vibe. Feels like you are at a REAL barber shop.

Robert is absolutely fantastic with my 6 year old. He's autistic and Robert is the only one he will allow to cut his hair. Very patient and understanding!

This is probably the best barber shop downtown, there are barbers and hairstylists, these barbers were kicked out of the Walper hotel, after 26 years of working there, in favour of bringing in some "hip" new trendy barbers, to try and keep the hotels guests from leaving the hotel to spend money (It is now twice the $$$ of what it was for a haircut, since they were kicked out.)

The Walper Barbers are a group of welcoming and genuine professionals from right in the Waterloo Region.

I went into their original location on a whim one day, and immediately felt comfortable and supported. I am an individual who has quite a bit of hair on my head, and often ask for a couple off-the-wall suggestions. Sandra was able to accommodate my requests and spent time getting to know me.

I highly recommend this place to any gentlemen looking to get their hair cut, beard trim/shape.

The new location is beautiful and they are all so passionate about their profession, it shows in their attitude towards their customers.

Excellent shop with an old school feel to it. Robert is a great barber who I've been going to for a few years now. Perfect haircut every time. He's been doing this for decades with no signs of slowing down. You can tell this is his passion and he cares about every haircut.

Fantastic haircuts as I have never been disappointed. Bittersweet with the move to a new location, but it's about the barbers, not the location.

Oh wow, this is a historical hidden gem of barber shops, just like they used to be 130 years ago! I am very pleased with my haircut, the staff is friendly, and the price was fair too, wonderful interiors, all original flooring from 1900's and other original antique items of the gone by era, very clean and professional barber salon. However, heard they're moving soon, like within another month or so (Posting Publicly on May 22,2019). Call ahead maybe you too will be able to experience this place in its full historical glory as I did, before it's too late!

Great service, cheap price ($20), very well done. Robert took a lot of care to ensure that the cut was just what I wanted. Good attention to detail. Note: They are moving to Joseph & Water at the end of the month.
