The Westin Ottawa

Disappointed in bedding. Blood stains. (Ick). And no maid service. Somehow, I learned making my own bed that there were three too small sheets and two duvets, none of which would stay on the bed. And there was mildew in shower.

For an upmarket hotel they could have done SO much better. Frankly, I was disappointed overall.

Honestly, after having to move our wedding once due to COVID and then just cancelling, they were not understanding at all when it came to our deposit. We cancelled because there was no way we could have had the wedding we originally signed up for - 125 guests, some international, no masks, and with dancing. Despite that, we lost our entire deposit as we weren't willing to reschedule again. Paired with a lack of communication during the pandemic, and difficulties tracking down who was even responsible for events, I am very disappointed. I chose the Westin as I plan conferences, and planned on there in 2019, but will not be doing so again.

We stayed at the Westin over the weekend for my brothers wedding. We flew in from Edmonton on Friday. We were not close to the other wedding guests which was very disappointing given that my brother had booked this a year in advance.

We requested a crib in our room and I called twice to confirm and both times they said there was a note that it would be ready for us and it was not when we got there.

The elevators were a disaster. Having a one and a half year old and a 2 1/2 year old in the wedding was not helpful when we had to wait 20 to 30 minutes for an elevator.

Our room was very cramped but after all the mix ups we didn’t feel like we could request a room change as it was too much with a toddler.

Saturday morning while getting ready for the wedding there was no hot water for the shower. There was not even any lukewarm water for the shower. Trying to get two adults and a toddler ready with barely lukewarm water was completely unacceptable.

Extremely disappointed in the quality of our stay compared to the expensive price of the hotel. And I have stayed another Westin Hotel’s before

The hotel has excellent facilities and is very clean and well maintained.besides the lodging, the Westin Ottawa has the advantage of being adjacent to the Rideau Center mall and located directly downtown, within walking distance to everything. There is an indoor gym and health club on site also.

Location is great but room is in need of renovations. Furniture has stains on them and there are remnants of spider web on the ceiling.
There is also excessive noise especially on the high floors due to events hosted by the hotel, which makes me unable to sleep.

Stayed one night at this hotel. Staff was nice and helpful, but was not able to upgrade our room even we hold elite gold status.

Location is very convenient. Room is spacious with nice views but it shows its age.

Room service food is mediocre with very limited choices on a Friday night.

Its so good one of the best hotels in Ottawa luxurious and cheap recommended pool was good food was great.

Love the hotel was disappointed in my meal at the Shoreclub but the service was excellent. Have eaten there several times and been thrilled.

Super freundliches Personal, gute Zimmer. Wir hatten eines in der 17. Etage mit tollem Ausblick. Das Hotel liegt mitten im Zentrum. Sehenswürdigkeiten, Restaurants und Bars sind alle schnell zu Fuss erreichbar. Das Hotel ist direkt an die Shoppingmall abgebaut.

We had a great beer (the El Camino) and fabulous burger. Wonderful service right from the manager to all the servers. Worth a try when you are in Ottawa.

The hotel is nice - but needs better operations for busy times. Elevators are limited and can lead to very long waits during prime check in / check out times.

Perfect location, right in the center of the city. The Rideau canal is on the same street, and the hotel connects to the Rideau center directly.
Couple of minutes from the byward market, and the view of parliament is beautiful. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Ottawa.

Friendly and very helpful staff, specially when I drive up to check in, staff approached me if I need any help, provide me not only the answer but option and suggestions!

Horrendous, do not stay there. I paid for two nights. During my transit, my last plane was delayed so I arrived early morning on the next day. I showed up at the hotel knowing that I lost my first and it wasn't the hotel fault. Nonetheless, the hotel decided to to give my room to someone else. Instead of having a room ready to go I end up being offered to pay for another room. Terrible people and awful stealers. So now I'm fighting for my money back while I crashed to my friend's house. No supervisor was on site to help out the 16 years old receptionists. Ottawa has so much to offer, except at the fraudulent Westin.

I booked on their website, and it was mentioned that you don’t have to enter any card and you pay when you get there. And as I arrived they said no reservation under this name! It was a weekend! Plus they couldn’t charge my debit card, they only take credit so they had to talk to someone to solve the problem! And they charged me extra of what was on the website. And now I have to find a last minute hotel!
It’s not even worth it!

Great location, rooms were nice but not exactly spotless by any means. They have very limited services at this point as they will only provide cleaning services if you are staying 5+ days and I called for room service at 10 pm on a Saturday and was told they were already shut down for the night.

Giving 2 stars simply for the location! Direct access to Rideau Mall and The Shore Club Restaurant! Rooms are in need of an upgrade our Parliament View room had dirty/dingy furniture.the windows were very dirty, so even capturing a photo of the Parliament buildings was a little blurry!

We were charged for valet parking even though we did NOT have a vehicle!
We used the ice machine on the 15th floor and were disgusted to find some type of plastic frozen into the ice that was dispensed! I sent a complaint through the Marriott Bonvoy app and was contacted by front office staff nearly a week ago and provided photos and have yet to hear back! Totally disappointing! Especially for a hotel that is under the Marriott brand!

Will definitely have to look for another hotel when we return to Ottawa!

This is what a premium room (with Bonvoy Gold Elite status) looks like. Staying 3 nights. Blech. Also waited 2 hours past check-in to get it. Sadly not worth the drive from Toronto.: (

So curious about his specific plans on using my "gift of feedback" to actually "enhance and improve upon each guest stay". Keep me posted, Ross!

As a Wedding Planner I highly recommend the Ottawa Westin for your wedding but also their guest rooms are beautiful. Located right in the heart of Ottawa you can't go wrong. Also their staff is exceptional and so responsive!

Our stay at the Westin this past weekend was just okay. We paid for a suite, but when we got into the room, the toilet hadn't been cleaned. Without going into detail, I'll just say it was gross. We called the front desk and they said it would be easier to switch run rooms, so we agreed. The second room was nice enough, but it wasn't a suite, it was just on a higher floor. Unfortunately we didn't feel the price reflected the room and likely won't be returning.

Amazing location! Walking distance to most things relevant in Ottawa. Parking has no in out privilege unless you pay for valet. Due to COVID, no housecleaning until you depart your room. Be prepared to clean your own hotel room!

Very nice rooms/service and close to everything in downtown. Conveniently connected to the shopping mall which is nice. It’s a good stay in downtown Ottawa.

This was our 3rd stay in under a year and this one was a bit disappointing. We had a Deluxe room with parliament view. There was a half full bottle of water in the fridge - made me question how thorough the room was cleaned. Our room had a heavy curtain but no sheer on the window. The chairs in the room were heavily stained.
We requested and received a different room. (Chairs we’re stained in that room as well - traveled with my sister, their chairs were also stained). Expected better.

Nous sommes très déçus de notre expérience au Westin d’Ottawa.

Le check in est à 15h et lorsque nous sommes arrivés vers 16h30, l’accueil nous informe que la chambre n’était prête et elle devait être nettoyée. Pour l’inconvénient, l’hôtel nous a donné des bons pour déjeuner au restaurant sur place, mais le café n’était pas inclus et il a fallu payé 5$ chaque pour un café filtre. C’était ordinaire finir par payer quand même.

Le pire est quand nous sommes entrés dans la chambre. La salle de bain n’était pas propre, il y avait un long cheveux sur le bord du bain et un motton de crotte de nez avec du sang à côté du robinet. On ne comprend pas pourquoi l’hôtel n’a pas été en mesure de rendre notre chambre disponible à l’heure ET qu’en plus qu’elle soit sale? Le service au chambre est venu nettoyer, l’employée disait que c’était une mauvaise job qui a été fait. Par chance, nous avons été en mesure d’être prêt pour notre sortie le soir après tous ces imprévues.

Pour un hôtel luxueux qui a coûté 330$ la nuit, sans inclure le stationnement à 30$, on s’attendait à s’éviter ces problèmes au prix que nous avons payés. On ne recommande pas cet hôtel.

overall i'd give it a 3.5 right now.first the good: the staff are fantastic.from check in, to concierge and parking and fitness centre.always friendly and very helpful. Location is great for hanging downtown.it was at full capacity and the elevator situation wasn't bad considering the pandemic limitations.we waited a couple minutes max even when we had to let a couple elevators go from floors 22 and 12 which is totally acceptable.needs improvement: aside from the hotel needing some updates (rooms, bathrooms, facilities) some general things that should be better regardless of a refresh: 1.subpar toilet paper.some of the cheapest TP i've seen in a hotel.i've had better at much cheaper hotels. 2.pool water quality.the pool was way too cloudy/murky.which could be a lot of things but none of them are good.my guess is too little chlorine which is bad for a public pool.these two are easy things to fix.

Great stay, was here for seven days. Each room has its own temperature control so your room can be nice and cool for the hot summer heat waves! The rooms are humble but the view from floor 21 is nice (over parliament). Staff are friendly and the bed was comfortable! I liked how the staff were very responsive to our every need via the Bon Voy phone App!

Overall a very nice hotel. Beds are very comfotable. Mix up at check in time when we got here, however they fixed it quickly. Not impressed with absolutely no maid service during COVID.

We just spent 3 nights at this hotel and were very impressed. Everyone we dealt with from the valet to front clerk to housekeeping were fantastic. I cannot say a bad word about any of them. They were lovely and went out of their way to help in any way they could. I noticed a couple of other customers were quite rude to these workers unnecessarily, so perhaps take any complaints here with a grain of salt. The room was lovely, the price was great and it was so nice to be attached to the mall! Thanks for a great stay Westin!

I attended a dinner for a graduation party / prom last night. Parked using the valet. He returned my car but told me I needed to pay inside. I made the payment and asked for a receipt. The Westin employee called over a colleague and they needed to figure out how to provide a receipt. After 15 minutes of waiting for a receipt I spoke up, five minutes later they printed of a receipt. They folded it in half and handed it to me. It was 10: 30pm at night so I simply placed the receipt it on the dashboard and drove home. I looked at the receipt this morning to find the Amount listed was for $0.00 and not the $34 I had paid for parking.

The meal and function was first rate the treatment and the end of my evening was deplorable. If they cant provide a receipt then just say that. If they don't know how to, teach them. This level of services after having spent a few hundred dollars in the hotel for the event does not met the standards I would expect of the Westin. Disappointed to ay the least.

Invoice number 597631, Guest Number 1661209 $00.00 meant to be $34.00. Can somebody address this please.

The Westin was very good how ever is recommend booking online ahead, I checked online and rooms were going for 170 a night in person I was charged upwards 260 for the night

Excellent location in downtown Ottawa. Close to everything. We are currently staying during the pandemic one concern is takeout food only from the restaurant serving you picnic style but still charging you 5 star pricing.

Prestigious room. No doubt about that. However in Ottawa, there are many. This staff recognized my wife and I wedding anniversary with a small surprise. The thought alone blew us out of the water! Definitely a place to stay at when you are here!

L'accueil était froid, il m'ont chargé 2 fois la facture. La chambre était correct, mais le lit était un trou. On a pas dormis toute la nuit. Je regrette l'avoir choisi. Pour pa propreté, je donnerai 5/10. Il y'avait de la poussière sur les téléphones le réveil et les commodes. Les chases étaient très sale.

The staff at westin Ottawa is professional and goes beyond their way to meet our needs. As a platinum member, I received a complimentary upgrade to the suite. Also, the hotel is centrally located beside tourist attractions, restaurants, and the shopping centre

It is the best hotel in Ottawa. Fitness center, swimming pool with salty water and sauna are the best!

Overrated expensive dump! Which cockroaches in the telephone, books!
And for every cockroach you see there's 50 you don't!

The rooms are nice and have great views of the city - at least on the west side.

The elevators are a complete gong show. You enter the destination floor on the keypad outside the elevator and a door is then assigned to you with a letter of the alphabet. You wait for that door to open which can be more than 20-min when it is busy. We took the stairs most of the time on Fri and Sat. We were on the 17th floor! I was close to rating this 2 stars for this reason.

The rooms are noisy. You can hear people in the hall. I was woken several times during my 3-night stay.

The pool is small given the size of the hotel. I expected more given this is a Westin.

Best hotel in the city! Beautiful location, great parking, friendly attentive staff. Felt so safe here and the accommodations are fantastic.

Staff was very accommodating, but the liquor service was confusing. They didn't want to serve our room the amount requested because they didn't know how many of us were in the room. And we didn't order that much

The staff was efficient, the elevators were quick and the facilities are high end; however, connecting to the internet was often not possible. Also, the guide on the television, when it was not refreshing, was not always accurate.

Love this hotel here in Ottawa. If you're looking for something upscale, but affordable this is the spot for you. We were treated like royalty, and its great walking distance to everything you must see in Ottawa.

My girlfriend, who had arrived TWO hours earlier to check herself, and thus myself, into the room. I walked into the lobby and had to wait an additional hour and forty-five minutes until our room "was finally clean". I have no doubt that your housekeeping staff works their behinds off I'm order to make you the business you are today.

Although I DO NOT blame the employees who work behind the scenes to make everything run as smoothly as it SHOULD, I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why a hotel would offer a room for vacancy. It is my firm belief that if the room has not yet been cleaned by trained housekeeping staff, if should not be advertised for sale on their website! IT'S PLAIN COMMON SENSE! One wouldn't go to a gas station to fill up their car with gas, but instead of filling the gas tank, they pay for it, and only return three hours and fourty-five minutes later to use put the product they had purchased!

Your whole operation is poorly run, and needs to be looked at by a team of business's PROFESSIONALS! Would I return? NEVER! Do I recommend this hotel to anyone from out of town? Not on your life my friend!

My sincerest of thanks goes out to those who are people "who just work here", and have nothing to do with anything at the management level. The ONLY reason there are two stars instead of one is for those workers who have nothing to do with any corruption! I imagine you most likely overwork and underpay them, just to make more money! Keep up they great job "bottom-tier" employees, and may great shame be brought about all those who participate in financial corruption! I hope that money helps you sleep at night, but it will never buy you true happiness!

Room: great/clean. Bed: very comfortable. Soundproofing: good/quiet. Gym: amazing for hotel standards with a hidden weight room in the back, as well as squash court. Modern efficient elevator system: punch in your floor and it will take you there. Location: perfectly situated to all things in Downtown Ottawa with a connecting entrance to Rideau Center.

Great fitness club, nice pool area, clean modern rooms. They charge you for wifi and the elevators are a complete mess. The control system for their elevators is the worst I've ever seen. Prepare for 15-20min wait times. Did I mention the stairs exit to a 4th floor roof, and so you MUST take the elevator. Brutal. I will not be back until they fix their elevators. FIX YOUR ELEVATORS! They actually had employees over ride the controls and manual pilot the elevators at times, this GREATLY reduced the wait times.

Stayed here a few times for work events. Staff is always impeccable and friendly, the hotel and rooms are immaculate, service is prompt and a huge bonus is that it connects directly to the Rideau centre.

Dated hotel in need of a reno. The streets surrounding the hotel are disgusting, litter cigarettes everywhere and unidentifiable substances that I hope to never see again. Staff is friendly and accommodating, for the most part. Probably would not stay here again.

If only every other hotel offered the same top services we would be a lot more happier. Attached to the convention center a plus! Attached to the Rideau Shopping Center a plus! Close to the market a plus! Amazing amenities! Great room care! Scent is a bit strong for those who are sensitive to scent, I am not, and I love the calming smell but my colleagues are. Just an overall relaxing experience while here.

A great place to stay if you have business or just on a break.

Had a great night here for a social event with coworkers. Kind of annoying to use your key card for the elevators but i get that it’s an added feature. The location for Ottawa is great and so are the amenities. Try to shore club downstairs for great steaks. And you can access the Rideau mall from an indoor entrance which is great for winter months.

My Bose headset, worth $450.00 were stolen from the cleaning staff. I forgot them in the safe which did not lock. My children skimped and saved to buy me those for my birthday. I am so heartsick and very disappointed with Westin.

Great hotel, amazing staff - we had forgotten a favourite stuffed animal, and they not only made sure he made it home safely, but they showed him a great time while at the hotelunforgettable experience!

Room was very clean, staff were all very courteous. Attended a holiday party and service staff were very accommodating and friendly!

In all my work travels, this has been the nicest place I've stayed in. Great views towards Parliament and close to a good number of great places to eat when not in meetings.

Spacious and comfortable rooms with stunning view - even the simple double rooms have it. Dream of every traveller- really comfy bed with two layers of feather-light warm covers good choice of pillows. Most of Ottawa's must-sees are within 10 minutes walk. Direct connection to Rideau shopping mall though the 3rd floor of the hotel - very convenient. One minus - hotel does not provide adapters for electric appliances for guests from Europe. You have to buy those at the gift shop. I certainly hope they shall reconsider providing this simple necessity in the rooms. However the alarm clock has two USB ports - so I charged my phones there.
