The Wheel Depot Plus and Tires Ottawa

Feeling ripped off. I have a receipt in my hand for $90.65.that bought me a ring kit. I've since searched around the internet, and the most expensive ring kit out there, from a performance shop is $39.99, and they are aluminum. I have the plastic ones.

4 plastic rings, no labour, no tire swap.

Can you explain why I had to pay so much?

The boss says $24.99 a tire over the phone and nothing else, but magically after the work is done the price is now $34.99. Then continues to make up that he said "$24.99 AND UP, " yeah right. When I bring the issue up, he starts getting angry at me for asking and tells me I'm the one with an attitude. It is not unreasonable to be told the exact cost of the service before it is done WITHOUT ASKING. I would never trust a guy who disrespects his paying customers like that to do any work on my car. There are a lot of other reviews with the same story and I wish I read them before handing this business my hard-earned money.

Great service. Very knowledgeable. In and out in about an hour + half with tires mounted on new rims and installed on car.

I have purchased wheels and tires for both summer and winter a few years ago and I was very happy with their quality of work and pricng, I had one siummer tire that had a puncture and needed a plug, I brought the wheel in today and asked how long.because I know thry would be busy with wheel changes from winters to summers. They told me the tire would be ready in an hour so I waited. 35 minutes later the tire was repaired. Thanks Guys!

Cant help but feel ripped off walking away from todays transaction.
$325 for a tire swap off rims? Was charged an excessive amount for rim cleaning and was told that a special tool was required to remove the valve stem apparently that costs extra to use that tool? Also told that truck tire are extra yet this is a common SUV tire you would find on nissan pathfinder, subaru outback and ford explorer. I was also quoted $780 to do my rear brakes. I paid the $325 but walked away thinking not only will I never come back here but i'm going to warn people about going here. I'm highly disappointed. Should have went to another location. Shame on them Same on me.

Just a suggestion. Please next time give your client a proper quote before you start doing any stuff so that your client will not be surprise after receiving the receipt. In that way, your client can decide properly if they still want your service or not. Anyways, thank you for your last service.

I've been a customer here at The Wheel Depot for over five years, and I highly recommend them for their prompt, knowledgeable and courteous way of doing business, in addition to the fair prices that they offer.

The Wheel Depot mounted, balanced and installed my new Braelin BR14 alloy rims and winter tires professionally, and quickly on the same day I called. Orginally I'd booked an appt with "Tire Expert" on Merivale, and after having my car all day, they couldn't mount them or at least that's what they said. In reality they didn't have anyone experienced enough on duty that day to do it; so much for being "experts". Anyway, The Wheel Depot saved the day and gained a loyal new customer. This is the only place that I get my tires changed because they are quick and efficient. They are also very helpful with any questions or concerns that I have.

Price mark up is ludicrous and attitudes? Let's just say if you have any anger management issues I'd advise you to stay away.

These guys specialize in tire swaps and oil changes only. They are not licensed mechanics. So any work you want done other than that, is at your own risk. Most times they will take your vehicle to another shop.that shop will complete the work and bill them. They will pass the billing over to the customer and skim off the top. Hard to prove the skimming but you see it in the billing. They claim to have the best tire deals. Maybe in the past but not anymore. There are other shops in town that are just as competitive. Just have to look. For a growing reputable business that still asks their customers for cash payments for both sides to avoid paying the taxes, says something. Not all customers get this treatment. But i've seen enough, that they use this practice with their regulars. I know this for a fact as I benefit from being a regular. Which leads me to believe that if their willing to cheat the system, how much are they willing to cheat their customers. I'm not trashing the oil changing service as I know the prices for oil changes and am comfortable paying the price for it. All these shops like to overcharge to a degree. Some get away with it while other's dont.

Also, for a business to respond in length to these 1 star reviews outlining the details of the issue and at times, attacking the customer's character just shows how petty you guys are. You guys are supposed to take the high road.

Totally unprofessional people and I don't recommend them!
They took my rims and held hostage. They did not honor the price we agreed on and also threatened me. Had to call the cops the get it sorted. Don't fall for this guys BS. He is been in the business of stealing and lying to people for 13 years. Its not the 1st time I have repaired the rims. This guy quoted me $129 and charged me $280. Very disrespectful and a man without honor. Deal at your own risk.

Fantastic prices. Checked around the area and these guys were the best. Their customer service is fantastic, very personal and no BS. As long as I need tires I will need them. I will recommend them all day long

Last review was with years of coming here, last service there left much to be desired, wheels not balanced and a puncture I asked to have repaired was not (started leaking within a day). $220 for a wheel swap is already on the high end. Sorry, but I am going somewhere else from now on.

Looked for a place to put my winter tires on newly purchased rims. Everyone was booked until the end of month. Called Wheel Depot, they said they were busy too, but yes, it could be done today. Dropped the rims and tires, came back and they said they could even install them on my car TODAY. Excellent! Bottom line: on a short notice I got more than I was hoping for. Will be recommending this garage to my friends and coming back for more tire jobs in the future. Thank you guys (sorry, forgot to ask your names, next time.).

UPDATE Sep 2019: Needed to urgently replace valve stems on two wheels. Called Canadian Tire: '$80 plus tax, and a couple hours of waiting time'. Called The Wheel Depot: 'No problem, drop by, we will fix it for you right away'. Took them 15 min to fix both wheels, and cost me only $40! Five stars for the great service and impeccable workmanship again!

Dropped my flat tire that was punctured by a screw. Picked up the next morning for a good repair and great price. Will be back next time, thanks

Been to The Wheel Depot Plus over a few years for different vehicles.location has always given excellent service in a timely manner.today they balanced and installed a set of winter tires for me.will be going back for other services in the near future.

This is the only place I will ever take my vehicles. The owner, and the staff are very down to earth and helpful and quite frank when it comes to tire pricing etc. They are relatively inexpensive. Most importantly, these guys actually mount the tires VERY well on the rim. They sand the rims or something of any rust very well, and put a good layer of that tire goo on there and I have NEVER had slow leaks from any tires that these guys did for me for at least 10 years now. Definitely highly recommended. (I am in no way affiliated with these guys, they have just always done great work for me and deserve the credit).

I'll go to this place first any day when it comes to putting tires on and off my rims. Great prices and fast service

Wish I could give more than 5 stars. These are really nice guys. Generous and honest. They changed my wheels over, located and patched a leak and the job was clean. They really helped me out with a small but potentially major mechanical issue and saved me quite a large amount of money. They didn't have to do this, but they did and the price was more than reasonable.

They are very busy.so you have to keep on top of what you want.but in the end, they always satisfy.

Their price is certainly on the high end, much more expensive than Frisby Tires which I have been going for some years and happy with their services. Unfortunately they (Frisby Tires) have been booked up for one week. I didn't want to wait so ended up going to another shop. I have just realized that the Wheel Depot installed my tire in a wrong direction.

Went to Wheel Depot when I noticed my tire was losing air non-stop even after refilling w air.

Wheel Depot examined the tire and noticed a nail lodged in the tire. They removed and recommended a patch since the tire still had lots of life left.

How many other tire places would have done that.as opposed to making up a story that the tire can't be salvaged and trying to drum up some new tire sales!

Very hard to find people with integrity when it comes to automobile repair/service. Bad snowstorm yesterday and I needed my wife's snow tires installed. Called them same day in late afternoon to see if they could possibly accommodate, they said come on down and we'll get it done. By the time everything was said and done, it was past there normal operating hours.that means they were trying to take care of all the customers like me who came in caught off guard by the weather.
I have been coming to them for different reasons over the years and one thing you can always expect from them is honesty. The feedback I've gotten from them for different situations I've had has always had my best interests at heart.even if they were not going to get the business.
Hard to believe some of the comments below regarding them not being accommodating or rude. Take a minute to talk to them and you'll quickly see they have integrity.

Eric and company bent over backwards looking for uncommon rims, to say the least (18" to with a lug pattern to fit a 2012 Armada - normally a 20" wheel). It wasn't quick or easy, but rather than tell me to look elsewhere, they tracked down a complete set from two different suppliers to make sure I got what I needed.
They also had the best price on the winters I wanted - which also had to be brought in on special order - and had them mounted and ready to go within hours of receiving. As a result, my last visit to have the wheels switched on the car took less than 15 minutes with no appointment. I definitely recommend them.

I had received a quote over the phone that was not the same as when I got there in person. The boy that I was talking to had a bad attitude problem, so I left. I would rather pay someone else a few extra bucks to be treated with respect. I will never return.

Just got my tires changed, they gave me a price then when its was done they added more but not telling me there was extra cost, scammers and stay away!

I have been here 5 years now I haven’t seen any better service around competitive prices thank you for the great service.

We come here to get used tired and to do seasonal switchovers. The place is clean, we can watch the work being done via cameras i the shop, there are couches and a tv (our kids really love this) and no funny business. Definitely recommended.
