Great drinks, scones, cookies and bread! Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

I was bicycle touring through southern Ontario in the summer of 2023 and I camped at the municipal campground. In the morning I like to have a hot cup of tea (preferably three of them).
I had a cup in this bakery the evening before and it was very good. In the morning, I thought I would spread my money around and stopped in another cafe. Waste of time. The water was not hot enough and I ended up pouring it out and went back to the White Squirrel.
Actually, the tea (an English Breakfast) was exceptional. Probably the best cups of tea I have had for years, if not decades.
The staff were friendly and attentive enough. I don't do gluten so I did not sample their baked goods but they looked very good.
They had limited seating inside the bakery.
So if you are in Exeter and want to enjoy a great cup of tea then check out this bakery.

It smelled amazing when we walked in soon after it opened. Nice selection of cookies, scones, and muffins. The focaccia is the real treat. The wild garlic and pesto (made fresh in-house) one was too good to bring home - we finished it all right there. Super friendly staff, and a cute place to enjoy a book. Definitely coming back if we’re in the area.

Great cappuccino & delicious goat dill scone. Got wild garlic focaccia, will find out tonight how delicious is it.

Staff was friendly and the environment rather nice.
I bought 2 loaves of bread. I was very excited to get home and eat some fresh baked bread.
Unfortunately it was rock hard outside and chewy inside and I threw away both loaves after attempting multiple ways to not waste them.: (.
I am hoping it was just a bad day or overlooked mistake.
I will check them out 1 more time in the future and will post an update then.
