We ordered the deep fried cauliflower appetizer from a recommendation of the waitress and we were shocked to see how little it came with and the bowl was also filled with chips underneath likely to make it look like it came with more.totally not worth 13$ that’s suppose to be for 3 people under their description. Both my husband and I ordered burgers and left still hungry.will not return.

I ordered the War Pig burger with Poutine. Very flavourful. Staff was helpful in finding a burger from their extensive menu.

Quiet location, clean tables, and polite and friendly staff.

Not a fast food place, but I was able to get my take out order in about 10 minutes after placing it.

Cost was slightly higher than other sit-in restaurants for a single meal but good value for what I paid.

The best feature of The Works is the staff, they were friendly, prompt and helpful. The decor is fun and the menu has funny names for their huge list of options. You have choices for meat (chicken or beef or vegetarian), bun and sides for your burgers. Soft drinks are served in a massive glass measuring cup so you definitely need the straw. I find the burgers to be only so-so and far too big so it is impossible to eat it all. You end up taking it home or leaving half of it to be thrown out. I would rather pay $5 less and have a smaller burger (unless you want to share the meal). With tax, a burger and soft drink was $28. (Sept 2022)

I don't know if there is a shortlist for bad food joints in Ottawa, but the Kanata Works needs to be on it! Most burgers on the menu run ~$20 for a platter. Three out of four in our group ordered beef hamburgers. What we got served wasn't three 8oz juicy hamburger patties but three charred pucks. Neither kid finished their plate. I seriously thought about sending the food back; but, who wants to wait an additional 25 minutes to fix their burgers? The problem isn't with the service, it is the cook standing over the grill in the kitchen!
I like hamburgers; I can easily recommend a dozen places in Ottawa that can cook a better burger. And, it won't set you back >$100 dollars to feed four people either.
I used to love to come here for a good meal. My, how the mighty have fallen. It is the last time that I eat at the Works!

They were so busy because of the power outage but were under staffed which made orders take awhile to receive.

As expensive as always, just not as good as it used to be. Our burgers were extremely overcooked and dry. The options have been drastically reduced. No more Fitzroy brisket. Very disappointed.

Went for an early dinner with my family today. Our burgers were pretty standard. I ended up getting an Obaiwan Kobe man's cave, which is similar to a burger I make at home. It was alright. My husband got the taste of heaven, he enjoyed it. The kids meals were likely good, but they focused on eating the fries, which were excellent. Just the perfect level of crispy and salty. Lots of skip the dishes orders were being picked up while we were there, which kept the waitress busy and our service a bit slow at times. But we were okay with it since she seemed to be the only one working at the time.

Lunch special review: $13 for a 4oz burger pre-selection combo is worth considering. Add an extra patty to satisfy an adult. Recommend Dead Ringer (beef brisket, onion ring and cheese) but there’s so many good choices, therefore worth revisiting. Service is good. Lacking in “gourmet” presentation but who really cares?

Amazing burgers, fries, and don't forget about the milkshakes! Very good service. They have a good menu for kids too that they can colour on, which I appreciate.

Best Burgers in Ottawa! A bit on the pricey side, but for a treat once a month or so its so so good!

Oh man.hadn't been to Ottawa since 2015.and that's all I thought about driving here.was having a burger from the works.it was dynamite back then and it still is today.the impossible plant burger is phenomenal.thank you!

I had the Kobe Beef burger.so good. I never usually eat a whole burger but I ate this one completely (not a crumb left). They serve bottomless drinks in glass measuring cups! Very cool I say Just missing a crazy straw. Can't wait to try another one (they must have at least 20 different burgers on their menu, easily). Staff was great too!

I ordered a Malibu Meltdown.there wasn't any Havarti sauce on it, or any lettuce. There was just cheese and onion ring. My burger patty was overcooked as well. For almost $20 a burger I'm disappointed so say the least. I'd recommend Dairy Queen grill n chill over this place any day.

I few their Burgers are getting smaller and smaller but they continue to taste great. Their setup outside was really good.

Great onion rings, sexy burger is our favourite. A little pricey, but good as an occasional treat.

The service was excellent and so was the food. Very pleasantly surprised. From my Caesar to my blue cheese burger. I will definitely be back. The daytime server on Monday was EXCELLENT!

The works is one of the most unique places i've been to in a long time. The works is an awesome burger joint that offers a variety of choices of burgers, poutine, sandwiches and more. The environment is awesome. It's styled like a consturction site. They serve some of the simple drinks in measuring cups, and everything is cool. I also like the signs on the bathrooms. Everything tastes amazing and it's fun for everyone.

Great service, delicious food. Only complaint is the odd lettuce buns. Typically when you get a lettuce wrapped burger it's a full lettuce leaf done kind of like a pocket, but The Works does full slices of a head of lettuce for either side of the burger. So it's more crunch, less stability. Still delicious even though more napkins are definitely a must!

The die cut chips with the spicy home dip are to die for. I can order the chips alone and be satisfied with my order.

I also order the Hipster burger with elk meat which is always tasty.

Ordered the “Elk on a beach” burger last night. Burger looked old and dry so did the spicy cut chips. Within an hour of eating it I was not feeling well. Was up sick all night. Will not be ordering again

One of my go to places. The value has gone down through the years (more expensive, less choices), but the quality food and service is always there.

You know when you've had a good burger when you are not hungry for the rest of the night.
I thought maybe they could give more fries but they just would have been wasted.
Not cheap but good value considering the quality of food.

Value wasn't there. 50 bucks for 2x dry unseasoned beef patties a little unseasoned undercooked broccoli and a some spicy chips. Could have bought all the ingredients and made a better tasting meal myself for a lot less money.

Paid extra for a bacon & beef patty but could not taste or identify any bacon in the meat.

Convenience of not having to cook can come from any restaurant. At this price for quantity of food it should have been delicious, but it was basically just edible.

Wife really enjoyed the taste of the spicy chips. Both of us were still hungry after.

Uuuuhhh a wait-longer fast food styled chain with good burgers and measuring cups for beverage glasses. Not a diamond in the rough as they may have once been.

Lunch special worth dropping in for! The Works in Kanata now has a lunch special that's only $12, includes a smaller portion burger with a side and a fountain drink. Really good options for the lunch burgers, too. We stopped in today for lunch. Great service and enjoyable lunch experience. Will definitely do it again.

Awesome burgers with an amazing choice of Unique toppings. Also tower of rings, spicy diecut chips and sweet potato fries are great sides.
This place has a new beyond burger and it was awesome.
On a different note, is this one of the only places with Elk meat burger patty, and it's awesome.

Great food and service. Every so often, a buy 1 get 1 50% off coupon gets mailed out. I visit The Works every time we get a coupon. Only complaint is my burger bun arrived cold and the fries were sweet initially today, but they fixed up my fries. Overall, great restaurant with great selection and service. They make the best burgers ever.

We ordered take-out from The Works and were very disappointed. We had eaten there before and the burgers are usually dry but are not bad. Tonight our burgers were raw. They were completely inedible and to top it off, the few bites we did have were very dry. How can you even have a burger both be overdone and underdone at the sometime? (Likely a frozen patty but that is speculation). To top it off, the onion rings we got tasted like they were cooked in a deep fryer that hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Very disappointing. It certainly felt like a waste of $50 for two burgers that went straight in the trash.

Mixed feelings writing this review. I do believe the quality of the food at this location is good and I have ordered from the work at least once every two week for the past year and a half, off skip, sometimes more (I know lol) 99% the same order, so the staff can probably guess who I am. My fiance has been putting through the last couple of orders, but I go to place one tonight and quickly notice that there has been a steep price increase, ~$2 per meal we usually get. It might not seem like a lot, but the works is generally more expensive to begin with. Just considering all the factors, the marked up price on skip, delivery, tip, and now this price increase it actually bumped up the total cost of the order quite a bit, enough so to make me reconsider making this my go to take-out.

We were a party of 10 last night at the Kanata location and we were very disappointed. The tables and chairs were dirty, our orders were mixed up resulting in two people not eating until everyone else was finished, and one of our party found mold on his burger bun and sent it back. He didn't end up eating anything. We received a coupon for a free burger, but after this experience I doubt we will be back. The quality of the meal was also very disappointing from what we have been used to from The Works in the past. This location needs to clean up it's act or it will be out of business,

I have been to many Works locations but this ranks as one of the best. The staff were super friendly and very casual in conversation. The food was excellent as always is at the works. This location wasn't too busy at the time we went and we had a lovely relaxed meal. My daughter is vegetarian so we are always looking for a new place she can eat and she loved the burger here.

After trudging through an unfortunate amount of slush and rain, we got to the top of Bank and into the small restaurant. It's bigger on the inside than it looks, but is still small compared to most of its competitors in the chain family restaurant category. I'm a cynical man, so I usually raise my nose at the corporate kitsch that chains use to make their restaurants feel like they have a soul

The works is an interesting burger joint for all of the different types of burger toppings you can get there. It makes for a difficult decision when looking at the menu. It is pretty hard not to pick something that is good but nothing has really hit a home run for me yet. The milkshakes are awesome though.

Ordered a burger, after all who doesn't when you go to The Works! Unfortunately it came out burnt and blackened. Approximately 70 % of the burger meat was charred. It was disgusting and taste awfu. Not what I was expecting to bite into. This place charges alot of money for supposedly higher quality burger place! Will think long and hard before returning.

Never a bad meal at The Works. Burger variety is always huge, flavours are continuously being updated and experimented, and the portions never get smaller. I really like that they added a lunch portion size burger so that you can do lunch and not be completely food comatose during the afternoon.

The burgers here are magnificent, and their sense of humour exquisite. If I must recommend a burger, it would have to be the Hippie burger with Wagyu beef on a multigrain bun. Amazing.

Best burgers in Ottawa hands down! And by a mile the best turkey burger I've ever tasted - especially with the peppercorn-crusted version! My kids love the Tower O Rings and the many flavours of milkshakes! Highly recommended!

Had a great dinner out! The Works is hands down the best place to go for a burger in the west end. We went before the sens game and had great service. All the food was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meals. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a great burger in a relaxed atmosphere. We will be back!

Can get very busy, at times, especially with the take out and skip the dishes, but the serving staff are attentive. The burgers are always delicious.
