Great food and service. Been a while since we ate here - better than we remembered. Awesome music - sets a very pleasant ambience, and not too loud (thank you). And the prices were great as well. Overall very nice experience.

We paid $104 dollars for two burgers, two sides and two pop.
The service was great! The food was not. They forgot to put cheese on the poutine even. We had deep fried pickels that arrived outside of their batter (first time ive ever seen that). The child seats were filthy too. I would not recommend, and won't be thinking about this franchise for the foreseeable future.
My buddy took his whole family (4 people) out for $125. No value for money here at all.

Food was slow and either cold or wrong. We were the only table at noon on a Saturday. The meat was all overcooked, the buns and sides mostly came cold. They were out of most drink options for the kids. Disappointed as we were there for a special occasion and it wasn't cheap.

We really liked the restaurant. We were a group with 4 young children who loved playing with the phones and memorabilia found in the walls! The food was good and they have a riverside children’s menu aside from burgers. Will definitely be back as it’s difficult to find a family friendly restaurant!

Not happy with our meals at all from the Barrhaven location. Could not call the order in for dietary restrictions (Vegan). Food was cold when we picked it up, like it had been sitting there for awhile. Son of a beach was not vegan at all and burger was burnt to a crisp.
Very disappointed that we spent over 60$ on this. We will not return to the Works.
Used to be easy to order and orders were always accurate. Not the case anymore.
They don't even answer their phone so that they can be made aware of their errors with your food.
Very frustrating!

Went for a late lunch (2pm) staff were friendly but everything took forever, drinks took nearly 30 mins and our kids food arrived 30mins before ours! There were only 2 other tables at the time. When the food finally arrived it was nearly 45mins late (had to leave to get back to work). No condiments offered, no napkins or side plates with our app. No offer of water or even a second drink. Not very happy, this used to be an good place with good food. Not sure what happened but something needs to change! Sorry but we won't go back now, a shame.

I went there for lunch with my mom and we had a terrible experience. There were only a handful of customers and yet it took over 20 minutes for us to get our drinks, and about 40 minutes to get our food. When we did get our food, my fries were very cold, and my burger was done wrong. Our server never apologized, barley spoke to us, and forgot to give us napkins and utensils. There was another group of women who came in after us, and they only got their food as we were leaving - about an hour of waiting.
I will not be going here again. A waste of $50.

We went in and noone greeted us for almost 10 minutes. We went and asked for someone to help us. We ordered our food and Ceasers. The Ceasers came out quickly, but had no fixings in the drink. It said they came with some pickles, onions, etc.on the menu. When we asked they said they don't do that anymore, then said they didn't have the ingredients in the back. We asked for a plate of fries to snack on while we waited for our burgers. We heard a few tables around us complaining as well. After 1 hour of no burgers, or fries, we left. The supervisor asked if we wanted to keep waiting.then gave us a free tower of rings coupon for our next visit. Sadly we won't be returning. This was one of our go to places, the service was absolutely horrible.

On February 19th we arrived at the Barrhaven location at 6: 05PM. We had 2 hours for dinner and figured that would be enough time. There were lots of empty chairs but tables weren’t cleared and it didn’t appear to be very busy.
We waited 20 minutes for a table and were immediately told the restaurant had run out of fries. Not a deal breaker for us so we continued on.
We ordered an appetizer within 10 minutes of being seated and immediately put in our order.
Nacho Libre with cactus cut chips
Tragically Maple with sweet potato fries and a side of maple bacon ailoi
Gluten free bun with cheese and bacon and a greek salad (my mother-in-law has CELIACS)
We waited for as long as we possibly could.
At 7: 55PM we still had not received our plates so I asked the waitress to pack it up for us to go as she was just picking up the plates to bring them to us.
They were nice enough to knock off $50 from our bill as we had waited so long that we now had to take our order to go.

When we arrived home we sorted our order so I could bring mine with me.
My sweet potato fries had been put in with the Nacho Libre burger (I’m allergic to peppers)
The cactus chips were with my burger.
And, when I opened my container to eat at work I found I had the gluten-free bun instead of my mother-in-law (as mentioned above, she has CELIACS)

I called home immediately but seeing as I had a 45 minute drive, the others had already eaten.
Of course, my mother-in-law was sick all night and for 2 days afterwards.

Very disappointing as we love The Works and have gone to the Barrhaven location many times.
The last time we went the service was terrible but no where near as bad as this time.
Sad to say that we will no longer be going to the Barrhaven location and will instead drive to another part of town to have better service and where they take better care in terms of allergies.

I don’t like leaving 1-star reviews, especially not for a small business.

We were at our table for 45 minutes, waiting for our food, at which point the server approached us to apologize for the delay and say that the kitchen is backed up with their Uber eats orders and that our food should be there soon. Another half hour passed with no sign of food arriving, so we decided to ask for our bill and leave - waiting over an hour for a burger is a little bit too long. The server brought the bill, threw the credit/debit machine across the table and walked away. No apologies for the wait, nothing….

I get that these places make a lot of their revenue through delivery services, but the way this was dealt with is what prompted a one star review.

Never again.

We went out for dinner for my 35th birthday - picked a family friendly place and went early with our 3 year old.

Arrived at 530 and ordered about 15 minutes later. After just over an hour our waitress comes by to let us know there has been some sort of problem and they have to ‘refire everything’. Not sure when this information became available but we certainly weren’t made aware until quite late into the process - we would have gone elsewhere.

There was no offer of compensated appetizer while we waited a very long time and no offer of discount for the prolonged wait time.

By the time we got our food mine and my daughter’s fries were cold, my impossible burger had been cooked into oblivion and was completely dried out.

Overall a terrible dining experience. We will not be returning.

Empty restaurant: 25 minutes for our order to be taken, 35 minutes later for the food to arrive that was cold and another 10 minutes for drinks.
Will not be returning to this location.

The burger was not very good, it was dry.ordered the onion ring stack and usually it is piled to top, this time it was piled 3/4 of the way.

Ordered through skip.major delays but finally arrived an hour late. Raw burgers, one without a bun, and a mix of raw and burned fries. It's like they were trying to make a mess out of it. Last time going here.

Pre-ordered online for pick-up. Had to wait 25 minutes for them to make my order, which was surprising considering they weren’t busy. Burgers were burned. Sautéd mushrooms tasted like they were from a can. Absolutely terrible! Never ordering/eating at this location ever again.

Today was the worst experience I have ever had at this Works location. My family came in at 5: 30 pm waiting for a table and only to be told at 6: 15 pm that they couldn't seat us. We were then told that even when they do eventually seat us, it could be another 40 min wait for our meals. The host should have informed us up front that the service today was understaffed and unable to take us in, rather than have us wait and not know when we would be focussed. They definitely ruined my son's 8th birthday family dinner at one of his favourite restaurants.

Our experience here was so bad, we ended up taking our food to go before it even reached our table. The restaurant was covered in a thick layer of dust, the waitress was half asleep, they were out of so many drinks/ingredients, there was no music - we felt like we had to whisper, they got the orders all wrong (The waitress was openly blaming the kitchen staff). Definitely do not recommend for dine-in.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We have dined and ordered from this location before the pandemic with no issues but apparently new management took over. Well, it’s not good.

HORRIBLE place. Last Saturday (Jan 21) my oldest son wanted a burger from there for his birthday. We ordered 4 burgers with sides and two shakes at 5: 30pm, giving them a lot of time until dinner to prepare. Hubby showed up at 6: 15 pm and our order was not ready. While waiting, the manager/supervisor could be heard yelling at the top of his lungs at his kitchen staff. Expletives and F bombs could be heard. Complete disregard of the guests who could clearly hear it all. One guy ahead of my husband just went up and cancelled his order, shaking his head. My husband almost did too but then our order was finally ready. It was 7: 15 pm. Also during that time, at one point, a kitchen staff member still with apron on, just walked to the front and left. Likely fired or just could not take the abuse anymore. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from that manager! Oh and our order was half wrong: not the right bread, not the right sides etc.

NEVER GOING BACK! Please stay away from that establishment.

Dined in on Jan 2. Table had dirt stuck to it, I asked to clean it, she begrudgingly half a**ed wiped it, it was still disgusting and dirty. I offered to do it myself and she was rude saying it was from covid stickers - which it was not, it was food stuck to sticky old ketchup that I ended up cleaning myself.
Burgers came dry, luke warm, stale buns (hard on bottom) and my sweet potato fries were cold.not warm, COLD. Burgers had minimal toppings and the smallest amount of their signature Beech House sauce ever - she tried to upsell me on extra - now i know why - because they skimp on regular portions now. Server never came for a quality check, never offered to refill drinks or get hubby another beer (lost money on your bill). I had to chase her down to get hot fries, she brought regular fries not sweet potato fries.
Dinner for 4 with 1 beer and 1 pop, no shakes, no appies, no dessert was over $120.never again.
This place used to be a fun place to go with family and friends, we have supported it for many years, but quality and service has tanked since the new ownership. Head Office should be aware of these issues, although I am sure their business has tanked as we know many who have had the same experience and will not return. Covid didn't kill this place, the new owners and poor service did.
We will head to Kanata location from now on, where owners care and food is still what we expect from The Works.

Absolutely pitiful. Service was garbagio, our food came out 45 mins after our appetizer… One burger came out cold and the other burger came out raw. When we asked to talk to the manager, he gaslight me for saying the burger was cold…. He didn’t offer an apology and neither did our server. They remade the food in 30 minutes, and then only gave us 50% off one burger. We should have left with out the food. They get two stars because normally we like The Works. But don’t see myself ever going back.

Disappointed. Not sure what happened in the last year, but this place has gone down in quality severely. I’m talking food and service. I don’t leave a negative review after 1 experience because everyone has off days. But my last 3 orders were awful.

The burger meat is usually burnt as are the spicy cut fries. They’ve also reduced portions. Not sure if it’s a management issue, a chef issue, or a mix of it all, but sadly this place isn’t as great as it used to be.

Dined at this location this past Saturday (mid afternoon) and definitely should have left when I had the gut feeling to do so.stood around for way too long before being acknowledged and told to "sit wherever". Sitting "wherever" implied finding the cleanest dirty table in the empty restaurant.crumbs on tables and chairs, food on floor.if it had been wiped, it felt like it was wiped down with cold dirty dish water. Waited close to 40 minutes for our food (Son of a Beech with onion rings and Tom Green with fries), which thankfully we had the staff watching/discussing videos on their phones to entertain us. Had to ask for cutlery (which was covered in water spots). Both fries and onion rings were over cooked and tasted like old fryer grease. Thankfully we had asked for water in addition to our soda at initial time of ordering as we did not see our server again until plates were ready for pick up and we were beyond ready for the bill.
Ladies washroom had an over flowing garbage can and the entire restaurant floor felt and looked as if it hadn't been washed in weeks, or if it had been, was washed with fryer grease.
As we were waiting for our bill, two groups of 4 came in.watched them stand at the entrance for nearly 5 minutes before any staff emerged from the kitchen to seat them.which was also met with "sit wherever".
Whether this is a byproduct of Covid times, poor management or just zero f*cks to give all around.it is super disappointing to see a once thriving restaurant and chain crumble to this hot mess experienced on the weekend. From reading several other reviews of recent visits, it definitely seems to be a recent trend of poor service and even poorer experiences.

Don't waste your time! They should just close this place. The Works in Barrhaven used to be our go to place during COVID. Food was great and fast. Somehow in the last year this place has gone downhill very very fast. Now the food sucks and the customer service is not there. Last two times I've been in there the place is empty except for food deliveries waiting for their orders. Its took so long for the one waitress to seat us and bring us waters that we just left, after 15-20s on waiting. Tried to go back tonight and order take out same experience. They had one table eating in the restaurant but our food was not ready. The customer service by the employees was lacking. The staff was downright rude. So we left without our food! We will not go back to this restaurant ever again.
