Dr. Bargman - a dermatologist & health care professional who shows no empathy, compassion, or care. Raises his voice and belittles you. Tells you your skin condition is undiagnosable (if it is) therefore it doesn’t matter. Makes fun of you for wearing makeup. And his demeanour throughout all of my appointments suggests I am wasting his time. I can’t think of any other experience I’ve had related to health care that was as traumatizing as 5 minutes in a room talking to this guy.

If I could give 0 stars I would.
Last year, I had my initial appointment with this dermatology centre after being on a 10 month long waitlist. I was so excited to finally have a professional assess my skin. When I arrived, the building was very confusing to navigate and there wasn’t any signage so I walked around like an idiot until I found the clinic. When my appointment began, I was immediately belitted. Dr. Bargman said to me, in these exact words, “raise your hand if you pick your skin! ” as if I am 3 years old and not a grown woman. I was hurt by this. When he sat down to assess my skin closely, he made comments that were unnecessary about my behaviour such as “I can’t help you if you don’t help yourself”. He addressed my acne, but when I brought up my dermatitis/eczema around my nose which is MY main concern, he decided its “not severe enough” and to “not worry about it”. Without asking me anything about my skin care routines, my current medications, or anything related to how I currently treat my skin conditions, he immediately prescribed me spironolactone (medication used to treat HEART FAILURE with really severe side effects) and a crappy cream i couldve gotten from any walk in clinic. I was dismissed within 10 minutes and told to come back in a few months. I’m happy I never took that medication as any internet source will tell you it comes with side effects such as weight gain/loss, which i severly struggle with. Dr. Bargman failed to consider any current medical issues or past history I had when throwing pills into the solution. The worst part? There was a young female doctor shadowing him during the appointment who looked uncomfortable and failed to stand up for me. I left this appointment in tears and never felt so failed by our medical system. I didn’t even have the heart to write this review until almost a year later when i realized, i can help other people looking for REAL medical care steer far far away from coming here. I didn’t wait 10 months to be mansplained and treated like garbage and rushed out of the room. If this is the kind of ‘quality care’ we have new doctors shadowing, i also fear for the future of this centre and would stay far away.

I called to have a prescription sent to a new pharmacy. For the 1st time in 8 years I was asked to get a "new" referral from my GP. Your right, I will be asking for a new referral:) specifically somewhere where I don't wait 1-2 hours for my "scheduled" appt.

I've been seeing Dr Shapiro for 8 years. I have only had wonderful experiences. She is very professional and knows what she is doing. However Never has my appointment ever been on time. I mean NEVER.
Post COVID I thought things would be different.things are the same expect to wait 1-1.5 hrs to see the doctor after your "scheduled" time. Better off checking in and coming back after 1hr. Patients time is not valued.

EDITED: I was contacted to address my concerns but the facts remain the same as above. When I am seen at my scheduled time I'll update this again.

I cant thank you enough of what you did and prescribed to me.it actually helped me in a way i cant imagine.thank you again and hope to see you ina future time.if there were more starts than five i would give Dr. Jill million.i went to alot of places, used more prescriptions nothing helped.but when i visited you i would say all my problem went a way with the right prescription.thank you and wish, you the best.

Clean spacious office and waiting area. Love that they are Covid conscious and still require masks…. I appreciated the signs and that they enforced their mask policy. Front desk person was very friendly. Doctor was to the point and helpful. Happy with our visit.

I really miss Dr Davis he was the nicest kindest doctor there was. He took time assessed and worked to resolve my issues. This dr bargman was terrible. He’s attitude was short.curt not pleasurable. Kept using the fact that my daughter and I are black why there was nothing that could be done to help our hyperpigmentation issues. “It’s an uphill battle” was his exact words and offered no regiment (other then laser therapy for me in my case). Disappointed with appointment. Was very sad to hear Dr Davis had passed. Will NOT be going back. Waste of our time. If your black don’t bother (eyeroll)

Very frustrated….
I work in healthcare and am always very mindful of not taking up too much of a practitioners time. I had an appt today and asked my 2 questions, and decided to save my other questions for a subsequent appt and the waiting room was full, and mostly with elderly patients.
When I called to make another appt I was told I now need to wait until December. I guess I should’ve asked all my questions when I had the chance. Oh well.
The receptionist when I walked in was quite cold - and it was clear she didn’t appreciate me questioning the mask policy. She also gave me a look when I told her I had no choice but to bring my toddler with me due to child care issues.

Rude staff. I removed my mask to take a drink of my water and they started yelling across the room to put my mask on. It was very embarrassing and degrading the way I got yelled it, could have been said in a nice manner. It’s 2023 and the pandemic is over. Overall found them very unprofessional and rude. Also waited forever to see the Dermatologist. Not coming back here. Customer service is the most important thing in the world, so sad that it’s a rarity in this world nowadays….

I found the receptionist to be very kind and accommodating. Let me say that I am sure Dr. Bargman is extremely knowledgeable. That being said if your looking for the bed side manner of a drill Sergeant, then this is the guy for you.

I am very fortunate to have been going to Thornhill Dermatology Centre since 2018, they are absolutely wonderful! I see Dr. Lori Shapiro and she is an amazing medical professional that has advised me over the years with her extensive knowledge. When I call in for an appointment, I almost always get greeted by their receptionist Hannah who is a joy to book with. In the past I have also had great assistance from their aesthetician Jessica with product selection. I really liked the former location, but their new Bradwick Drive location is absolutely stunning! Thornhill Dermatology Centre has such a wonderful team, keep up the outstanding work!

Dr. Bargman was extremely helpful and the front staff made me feel welcome. The receptionist was patient and professional which is exactly what you want in a doctors office.

Dr. Bargman seemed very upset, to be about to explode at anytime. He seemed disgusted by every single word that I spoke out.what I ever done something wrong to him?

This place so busy, patients kept coming in. Waiting time was 40 mins. Reception was kind though.

10/10 experience! Would HIGHLY recommend.
I’m an elderly lady with mobility issues and found all the staff to be patient and very helpful. Avery especially was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable! I saw Dr. Bargman who was very helpful and knowledgable. Will definitely be going back.

One of the other reviews mentioned it but I had the same issue.they give you an appointment time but are always at least 30-40 minutes behind in most cases even longer.

If you’re late or miss an appointment they will charge you. Waiting for an hour or driving there only to find out your appointment was change without notice is totally ok and acceptable according to them.

If you give an appointment time at least TRY to stay close to that time.

Derms don't give a ton of time to patients, don't feel like there is a ton of personal attention at all. Just a quick peek and they prescribe something. However overall good service from the doctors, I am having issues with the reception though. Recently there was a power outage where they prescribed me medication and sent it to my pharmacy. When I went to pick up, I noticed the medication was different than the one I was prescribed (I had kept the original prescription paper). Very lucky that I checked. I called and the reception was quite rude and didn't offer any apology or solution. I ended up having to call my pharmacy and they agreed to refund me. Pretty disappointed, needs more understanding reception and a more organized team.

The receptionists there are amazing. Very helpful and friendly. Specially Hana and Jess, they were very kind.
Dr. Bargman is very professional. He has helped me a lot and is very thorough with his explanations. Overall great service and amazing staff.

Hana and Chris are always super helpful and great whenever I come for an appointment. Highly recommend.

Dr. Lori Shapiro and her team are not only extremely professional, they are sensitive and caring, and give each patient as much time as needed. All treatment protocols are discussed in so much detail leaving patients feeling very knowledgeable and comfortable with all decisions being made. Dr. Shapiro is always available for follow- up care and is wonderful to deal with. I highly recommend Thornhill Dermatology for adults and teens.

I dont normally post reviews on the internet.but my experience with dr.bargman has been so negative that i really have to at this point.he was rude, condencending, even hateful.lacks basic manners and communication skills.i wish i have read the other reviews before going to him, theres so many other dermatologists in toronto who are professional and NICE.save yourself the trouble, we all deserve better than this a@@hole.p. S.the receptionists are rude too!

They get the job done and honestly I’ve never left a review before but the front desk staff is so rude and always makes you feel so rushed when you’re on the phone with them-you can’t even get one sentence out before they interrupt you so they can hang up. I get that it’s covid but I don’t think an office can be so busy that they can’t spend more than 30 seconds on the phone with a client who has a concern. Even when you go in person it’s the same and they talk really unprofessionally in my opinion! Just an area of growth for the office

Not sure what the problem is. I arrived for my appointment, registered and waited. Ten minutes after my scheduled appointment my name was called and I was led to a room to wait for the doctor. When he arrived I found him friendly and personable. He diagnosed the issue I was there for and gave me a prescription. I then raised a few other unrelated issues. He found time to examine them, outlined the options and, once I made a decision, proceeded to treat the issue. I was not rushed at any time and he explained everything that was going on.

I am sitting here in the waiting room with my son who is hungry for over an hour already and I was just told I have 3 more patients ahead of me. Nowhere to buy food or park. They believe their time is more important than ours I guess. 3 months to wait for an appointment and now two hours in the waiting room. Pure ridiculousness!

You can't get through 8.5min on hold, and they answer and hang up. I can only imagine the service one you have an appointment. I'm out.

While the doctors and the medical service they provide are top notch. The building itself and it's lack of parking is horrible. About 70% of the spots are reserved for the staff of the building, with the remaining meant for patients. Don't be surprised that you end up arriving late as a result of not being able to park at their building despite having many "reserved" spots empty.

They don't want to answer the phones and considering all the bad reviews they lost my business.

Had a mole removed in March 2019 didn’t hear back from anyone and we are now in June!
I left 3 messages for someone to call me back only 1 Secratary called back and said dr. Shapiro would call me back after her vacation. That was in May. No one ever answers the phone and no one ever calls you back!
Not happy!

I have been a patient with Dr. Shapiro for over 5 years. I have always found her and her staff to be extremely professional! The staff have always been courteous and helpful with my questions; and Dr. Shapiro is very easy to speak with, has never rushed me and always makes time to explain things to me. I have never been kept waiting for my appointment (most I have ever waited was about 15 minutes - maybe once in all of the years I have been a patient). She has resolved all of my skin care issues. I would highly recommend both her and her team if your are looking for a dermatologist who is professional and knowledgeable and very easy to speak with.

I read the troubling reviews on dr.bargman and was initially worried, but he was actually really nice and professional and helpful. Nice office, professional and friendly staff as well, only issue is that it’s quite busy and you may wait for some time but it was understandable. The free facial analysis was also very cool.

Called on a Friday to schedule an appointment and the receptionist was rude and extremely defensive. She was getting mad at me because another receptionist a few months ago scheduled me for an appointment when she shouldn't have. Like is that my fault you have poor communication among reception?

I have been a patient of Dr Shapiro for about 2 years for my adult acne. I have been struggling for years with. She is sharp and knows her stuff. She doesn’t push unnecessary services but makes suggestions and gives options of treatment plans. My skin has massively improved, I do get the occasional break out but nothing like before, healing is much faster now too.
In regards to the clinic and their practices, I have never waited more than 10 min for my appointment. Their receptionists are all extremely pleasant and professional.
I recently tried a cosmetic treatment, painless and very competitive pricing compared to other places I’ve been to. I highly recommend Dr Shapiro and her team. Great clinic.

Purely based on me waiting 1h15m before getting up and leaving without seeing anyone. How any professional business, doctor or not, can leave someone waiting for this long is unacceptable, to me anyways. I like the doctor but I can't dedicate that much time to sitting around waiting. We'll try again next week
