The Dr. Kerr and the staff are a class act!

We were looking for help for an injured woodpecker that we found in our backyard. The lady at the reception was very helpful. Sorry I didn’t get her name. She talked to the doctor, and also gave us addresses of wildlife refugees in the area. We ended up leaving the woodpecker in Hobbitstee refuge, thanks to her advice!
One of woodpecker’ wings got injured, so he can’t fly, but otherwise, he seems healthy and have a good chance of survival.
Thank you for helping us save a life of the beautiful bird.

Called twice to book an appointment was told twice that only his assistant makes the appointments was never reached out to, never called back, never acknowledged (even if you couldn’t take my pet). Very poor customer service, if this is how they treat clients I’d hate to see how they treat animals.

I don’t know how or when this clinic went downhill big time. They never answer the phones and no answering machine so you can leave a message. That’s too much work for the receptionist to listen to concerned pet owners messages.
The receptionist wouldn’t tell me her name so I could not report her for treating me this way she did. She was very rude and disrespectful while yelling at me on the phone.
I clearly made sn appointment a week ago for immunizations snd flea and tick medicine. I was told to come anytime next week and it would be ready.
I called before travelling out of town to find out the new vet wouldn’t take one minute to approve flea and tick medicine that he’s been getting for years at this clinic.
When I asked who the manager was she refused to tell me that too and said nobody is in charge here and we have no manger and then she hung up on me! This clinic needs to be reported and they need a new receptionist’s as well as better vets like Dr Flood who I had for many years.
You will not get through to this clinic either as they intentionally don’t answer the phones hence why they don’t have an answering machine because it would stay full and none get listened to. This is how much they care about their patients and their health. If you want good care for your fur baby don’t go here because you’ll be greatly disappointed at how any human could treat someone the way they do here. If they treat me this way imagine how the animals are treated.

Used this vet for 6+ years for multiple dogs until today, not sure what happened to the place. Used to be the best vet around and now theres only 1 vet left and the women I spoke with on the phone was miserable

They used to be great! I don’t know what happened. The person answering phones is completely rude and dismissive. Our dog would also have died due to them dismissing her need for treatment two years ago. She had to have emergency surgery. Had we have not taken her somewhere else we would not have her with us. They never transferred her records as requested at that time. Two years later calling to inquire why the records were not sent.complete rudeness on the other line. How is the case when we PAY for vet care? Completely unacceptable.

My cat was close to dying and they couldn't get me in, the only vet I've ever taken him to

Horrible experiences at this vet clinic, never able to get an answer. We had an emergency with our one family dog and had to rush her to the clinic and they turned us away at the door because they were "too busy" while my dog was visibly bleeding from her mouth. She passed not too long after since we weren't able to get her to a different clinic in time.

Brought my bearded dragon here & they gave me the absolute best care, it took a little bit to get an appointment but i understand because they are busy! When i got there everyone was so nice and welcoming, The Vet and assistants gave me the absolute best care and knowledge too.they sent me home with a huge instruction package for everything to do with Bearded Dragons and told me everything i need to do to help my girl! I will never bring my lizard to another vet.thank you guys for you care and knowledge ️

would most definitely recommend this place if you have an Exotic Pet!

They used to be good. I'm not sure what's happened to this place, but in the last few years it has definitely gone down hill. We could never get through on their phone. We had to find a new doctor for our dog. He is now being cared for the way he deserves to be cared for. Unfortunately, due yo our experience the last few years, I will no longer recommend this clinic to anyone.

After using this vet for our 3 pets we are leaving.we used a virtual vet apt when they were unable to see us and told us to call elsewhere.the vet sent the RX over, thorold refused to fill it, refused to have a vet tech do a clip and clean, and suddenly had an apt for us, in 3 days, which would be a full exam fee and vet visit.more worried about their pocket book than the actual animal.found a clinic closer to come willing to take the RX and us as new patients and get him treated today at 4.terrible customer service.place has gone down hill, don't let the new fancy building fool you.

Absolutely horrible customer service. You can NEVER get through to anyone. I’ve called more than 12 times in a row on multiple occasions with no response to any of my calls. I had to switch to a completely different vet because I could never book an appointment for my dogs because no one answers the phone. It is truly unbelievable. I can’t imagine if my dogs were having an emergency. We are so grateful to have a vet where the reception actually answers the phone after the first ring. Would NOT recommend anyone to this vet clinic.

Does anyone even work here? I’ve called about 20 times over the last week and not one single time did someone pick up the phone. And all WELL before 6pm (closing time). Have never actually taken my dog here but I can’t imagine you’d ever be able to even get an appointment if you even desperately needed one. If they ignore the phones to this extent… what else do they ignore?

When I first went here it was great. Then after a few vets left it went down hill. The one vet was afraid of my dog as she is a pretty large dog. She also didn’t help my dogs anxiety as she asked me to “put her into a headlock” so she could give her injections.
When you call sometimes you get an answer (sometimes it’s not the friendliest voice) other times you get “disconnected”
The only plus was it was close to my house.
I have gone to another vet which is amazing!
I’m only leaving a review a few months later just so I could make sure I did the right thing and leave. Look elsewhere if possible sometimes it’s worth spending a bit more for better care…

Used to be a great clinic but when they lost 2/3 vets in May then went downhill fast. They don't care about your pets. Look elsewhere

Quality vet care, yet very affordable. Frontline staff are professional & courteous & Dr. Lowery is thorough, kind, very compassionate, a good listener & overall a very good Vet. I highly recommend.

Been going to Thorold Vet for many years! Always had great experiences there. Specifically this time we had to put out cat down and thankfully we were able to be in the room with our sweet baby as she past. They have been nothing but kind, caring and clearly love the animals they work with; Specifically Dr. Lowry.

Called regarding wildlife rehabilitation - a vet here, Alistair Ker is listed in the wildlife rehabitator's public list. Secretary put me on hold then hung up and would not answer any further calls. Very unprofessional and unfortunate for the animal in need. No care for the poor animal that I was calling about. This vet should be removed from the list of wildlife rehabilitators.

Easily the best vet I've had. Best thing is, they never, EVER gouge me with unnecessary costs. For example, today I came in with my dog (female shep) she had a major ankle issue. After taking x rays, a course of anti inflammatory meds and a follow up. I've had other vets that would've gone to surgery far faster, costing 5 times the amount. The health of the animal is paramount however not all aggressive remedies are the best.

I was in need of a Exotic Vet for my two chinchillas and was happy to find this place so close to home. Dr. Manjos was amazing, and well versed in various rodent species. She was able to diagnose, x-ray, and treat my chinchillas overgrown teeth, and setup a plan for her health moving forward. I also couldn't be happier with the affordability of everything. Having someone with the knowledge and skills to treat my pet, and giving me the peace of mind knowing that there is such niche services in Niagara. Thanks!

We are very lucky to have Thorold Animal Hospital as our vet. They are caring, compassionate and professional! Dr. Flood is our vet and has been for awhile. We will always go here.

I have been dealing with this clinic, exclusively Dr. Lowrey, since 2000. The whole staff is amazing and has always shown me and my animals caring and compassion. Two thumbs up!

Only vet I can find in the region that helps exotic animals! They really care for your animals and would do anything to help. Very caring very nice and affordable! Highly recommend

Really rude and unfriendly staff. Not understanding nor helpful at all. While yes we are in a pandemic, did not give me waitlist times. Didnt offer to take my number and call me if an opening happend to come up nor direct me to resouces that I could utilize when I asked what I could do. Seemed rushed to get me out of the clinic and eyed me up and down while I was standing there. I wouldnt go again nor recommend this place to anyone.

Edit: My cat had a really bad gland infection. I have tried for MONTHS to get an appointment. They never answer the phone and you have to go in. Upon going in i was ignored and once at the counter rushed to get out. The person behind the desk was more or less short with me and I had asked what else I can do. I got a "call around until you find something" instead of recommendations even though I had said I am new to the area. From what I can see in comments and having been there.they're only good to clients they already have or they pick and choose who they want to be good to which seems discriminatory in nature if not nepotistic. If I could give zero stars I would.
So I guess unless you are known in the area, know someone there or are a long time client.dont go there. Just find somewhere else.

Great place to bring your pets. Their new address is a real step up, lots more room and better parking. Reasonable rates for services rendered. A+

Dr Flood is the absolute best in the business! Good prices and good staff however sometimes it is hard to get through on the telephone.

I have been going to Thorold Vet for 10 years. Dr. Thomas is a wonderful vet and the prices are affordable. However, since the covid shutdown it has been impossible to get through to the clinic by phone. Totally understandable during the shutdown, but this is still continuing at present. As a business owner myself I do find it unacceptable that the voicemail is always full and no one picks up the phone. Please resolve this issue.

I called to see if they could see my hamster who had fallen ill quite suddenly. It was late in the day. The Doctor waited for us to get there and prescribed some medication. I appreciated what he did very much. Time is of the essence when hamster get sick. They care:)

The vets are all awesome. Great care irregardless of what kind of pet you have. Would have given Thorold Vet Hospital 5 stars but it is very very small. Not a lot of room while waiting, especially with your pet. This will be changing soon though as they are set to move down the street into a brand new facility.

I went here upon a referral and I am very glad I did! I have a cockatiel that I have taken to get looked at elsewhere and I was very dissatisfied with the help I got.the last place was trying to charge me $450 for a surgery I didn't think she needed. I definitely cannot say the same here. Dr. Ker and all the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and took great care of my bird. They went over her fully and gave me great advice for her care, and options instead of surgery (which isn't necessary in the first place). I definitely would recommend this place for anyone who wants their loved pets well taken care of and just great people to talk to!
