Tinuno is one of my favourite places downtown, with a delicious menu. Go for the Kamayan feast:) Comes with a variety of seafood, bbq pork, fish, veggies, plus they ask you if you want more rice! It's a go-to place for me when meeting up with friends. The workers are also always kind and have good vibes! Definitely recommend

Restaurant is tiny, food is ok but the service is top notch. Thank you for the great experience for us tourists from Alberta.
02 December 2023 13:21
Went for the boodle fight. Our favorite was the pork belly and skewers. Garlic fried rice was decent, wish it was more "fried". Fish was burnt though.
23 November 2023 6:40
We ordered 2 Kamayan and fresh kalamansi.
If only they are not too far from home, we might come here every weekend LoL
They will give us more rice for free if we want.
The restaurant and parking space is quite limited but the food is so much worth it to wait a little bit and to eat close to another table.

Kamayan! Deliciously prepared Filipino food! Come with at least 3 of your friends! The more the merrier… bbq pork, garlic fried rice, pompano, milkfish, and tilapia grilled fish, pork belly etc.all on banana leaves. It’s the best!

I’ve come at least once a month…
pick up fried pompano, tilapia or Bangus fish, pakbet and bbq, for dinner at home.

I came here to catch up with my friends and we got seated right away. The service was quick and we got seated right away. The food was amazing and since the rice was unlimited we all left super full. If you want to try some delicious filipino food this place is definitely worth it!
27 June 2023 20:35
I wanted to try this restaurant, so I ordered food online at 6pm. It arrived at a decent time 7pm-730pm However, one dish was missing. I called them to ask. They said it was sold out since 2pm daw.
They should have called me to inform me. *BEWARE OF ORDERING*, make sure they actually have it. Parang kasi ang scam nya, saying available tapos hindi naman pala. It's so Embarrassing to my guests, as they were expecting that specific dish.
I suggest checking out Lechon Republik or Cabalen na lang masarap din at para safe na din.
18 June 2023 10:06
First time trying Kamayan Feast, and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was great and large portion. I would definitely recommend to try this place
28 April 2023 2:47
Food is good but they don’t pick up the phone often if they’re busy. I’m lucky they did pick up the phone that day. It saved me from waiting for too long. Delicious food.
25 April 2023 15:47
Ordered longsilog via Uber Eats and it came in this little pizza box and it was neatly placed and made sure to cover the bottom with foil so the oil doesn't seep through. I found the food to be kinda bland. There wasn't enough seasoning on the garlic rice nor the eggs. I've had other longsilog at other places and they were packed with flavour.not sure if they just rushed my order.
02 January 2022 14:40
The food and restaurant is the same as what I remembered when my friend and I dined here at Tinuno a few years ago. All we could remember was how dry and rubbery the fish was.and too much of our surprise, it was still the same food quality as before. Nothing has really changed. I've been advised by many people who have dined here that it isn't the best place for Kamayan feast and there are much better ones in Toronto.

However, the price is pretty cheap ($18.95 per person) for the amount of food we had so quantity over quality here. If you pay cash, taxes are excluded.

Funny enough, among us five who dined here yesterday, we said that the garlic rice was the only tasty item in this Kamayan feast. It is certainly worth the first try but I wouldn't come back again. I'm looking forward to redeem my Kamayan experience at Casa Manila next week.
23 December 2021 21:54
Ordered kamayan for 4 the day before my bday and they were ready at exactly 5 pm as my pick up time.
13 December 2021 6:07
We got the Kamayan feast for 2 and it was pretty good! The lumpia was really delicious too.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the cassava cake but it was my first time trying it so might be that I’m not really used to eating it.

I do wish the grills came with some dipping sauces though.
12 December 2021 12:37
My new favourite Toronto restaurant! The banana leaf plates and communal eating style are a welcome change of pace and all the food was well cooked and seasoned. Prices were exceptional and service was fantastic - will definitely be returning!
11 December 2021 18:42
Always love this place. Tasty food. Good service! Oh, their Monggo is to die for. ️️️

Edit:
I’ve ordered the kamayan feast good for two and man that was delicious!

Update: ordered the same thing again. I noticed the rice wasn’t so garlicky as the first time and wasn’t as much pork slices and squid given compared to the first time.

Ps. Hoping they have consistency in the future!
09 December 2021 1:38
I was surprised at what we could get at such price. It‘s our first attempt to the philippine grill. I like the garlic rice most.
03 December 2021 4:09
I was visiting Toronto for several weeks, and on my last day, I realized I hadn't tried any Filipino food while I was there. In my search, I found Tinuno, and it did not disappoint at all.

In Ilocano, Tinuno means "grilled. " Despite having both parents from the Philippines, I still hadn't tried kamayan. Undoubtedly, this was one of the yummiest and most affordable Filipino dishes/experiences I've eaten/tried.

Their kamayan is cheap, delicious, and hefty in portions. Included in the dish are pork belly, pork bbq on a skewer, squid, shrimp, mussels, your choice of either tilapia or milkfish (or both for a small additional fee), okra, eggplant, mango + orange slices, and plenty of rice (of course). You can add extra servings of anything for an additional fee as well.

As for the ambiance, the restaurant itself is quite tiny, so I would recommend one make a reservation beforehand. The staff was beyond welcoming and kind; I felt right at home with the chatter of Tagalog and Ilocano in the background.

10/10 would recommend this place! I could not recommend it enough!
22 November 2021 2:13
The food is great and reasonably priced. If you're into Filipino cuisine, this should be your go-to place for Filipino food in Toronto!
21 November 2021 8:51
Although the soup was very hot and fresh, I didn't enjoy the Sinigang na Hipon. It was very strong, they put so much ginger. It wasn't balanced at all.
14 November 2021 4:36
Horrible experience! I paid 12 dollars for Sinigang waited 20 minutes to be freshly made for it to taste like swamp water! I had my uncle fix the sinigang. Horrible never again am I going back.
26 October 2021 14:52
Tinuno is a wonderful restaurant to visit for authentic Filipino food and Kamayan. The food is well worth the money and very well made. The restaurant follows Covid-19 protocols and keeps everg table clean and sanitary. The staff is very kind and friendly and ensures everything is good. Tinuno is a very popular location and well worth the publicity. I definitely recommend coming to visit Tinuno out!
03 October 2021 21:34
Great food, awesome price.

My favorite protein was the pork in a stick. The garlic rice was really delicious, and the aroma it gives off when being laid out really whet my appetite.
02 October 2021 9:44
Got my order more than 1 hour after I placed it online via uber coz they couldn’t get someone to deliver. Usually it takes 10-15 minutes. The food was cold when it finally came.
29 September 2021 17:42
Reserve a spot, gather friends, enjoy food and experience food together! What an authentic Filipino experience of the Kamayan/Boodle Fight (eating with your hands)! I've been here several times before and the restaurant is such a wonderful experience. Make sure to reserve as it gets really busy!

We went for the Kamayan experience where they have banana leaves laid on the table and dished out all the food on top. Their Kamayan has milkfish, tilapia, squid, shrimp, mussel, pork belly, pork skewer, okra, eggplant, mango salad and garlic rice. You can request for more garlic rice if you need to but there's so much just sharing with your group! You can also order more appetizers as well like lumpia (variation of spring rolls) and lechon (roasted pork) as well.

They also have 3 locations total in Downtown (St. Jamestown area), Little Manila (North York area) and Scarborough Town Centre.
21 September 2021 1:05
When my friends visit me in downtown, I take them here. Their services is great and food is very tasty. They do not serve tap water due to covid-19 restrictions and I recommend mango drink (its a can one tho).
19 September 2021 23:11
2 stars bec of our recent experience. Been here twice. 1st time was a good experience, went with my partner. Food was great, service was great. Today, went with fam, all Filipino. I told them about the place bec of the great experience last time. This time tho, it was not the best. Waited almost an hour for food to come, even if we reserved. Followed up 4x and when I said we've been waiting almost an hour watching all the other tables (not Filipino) who came after us get served first, finally was served. Food was still great, but the very partial treatment was so obvious, I dont think my fam would visit again. Nakakalungkot lang po, inuuna ibang lahi. Tip lang po, dala kayo ibang lahi next time, maserve kayo agad. Or dont go on a weekend, baka sakali mabigyan kayo attention. Sad.
04 September 2021 16:17
Tasty food, reasonable price and the portion is just right. I really appreciate that they have the option to have a boneless fish fillet for those who are not used to eating a whole fish.
Other than the seafood, their garlic rice and mango salad are also delicious.
They gave us gloves so that we can eat with our hands. It was a fun and tasty experience overall!
30 August 2021 2:48
Kamayan Feast for 2 is a delectable surf and turf meal. Food is extremely tasty. Make sure you eat it while fresh and hot. Highly recommended.
08 August 2021 20:55
A very satisfying experience, their Kamayan is brilliant, the one with Tilapia may be slightly better than the milk fish one, but either is a must try.
04 August 2021 15:51
Best Filipino restaurant I've ever been to. Delicious food and They were very kind to my wife (Filipina) and I (Canadian)
25 July 2021 22:51
Takeout Feast

Just unbelievable value for the takeout feast. Fed our hungry family of four (and really affordable add-ons too like $5 Flan!)

Highly recommend.
28 June 2021 10:42
Last week was the first time we visited this restaurant. But It is definitely not the last. We had great time with the generous service, with the exceptional dishes and booze and with the modest cost. We will definitely visit there again.
12 June 2021 4:41
With Filipino food in the city, it's rare to find spots that are not overpriced in terms of the price to portion ratio and being consistently fresh and good quality during every visit. Prices and portions usually differ greatly the closer you are to the downtown core. Tinuno's selection is straight forward and simple - grilled meat and vegetables on fried garlic rice over banana leaves, and you eat it with your hands. I've visited many times and the portions have always been really good, especially for the price point and location. The quality has been a miss once or twice for some of the meat items, e.g. Tilapia that's too boney, or barbecue that's been too fatty. However, overall, the whole experience is still great. I never have to wait too long for my food to be ready, and the staff are friendly.
08 June 2021 7:22
The kamayan feast box is sooooooooo good! The staff is super friendly and they also sell Filipino products in the store. Highly recommend!
01 June 2021 23:12
Worst customer service ever! This place doesn't even deserve a star. Don't waste your time coming here, there are other Filipino restaurants far better than this place. Food quality is subpar, this place is overhyped.
19 April 2021 7:49
You can tell how good this place is by how busy it is even during the pandemic. We had their lumpiang Shanghai, lechon kawali, fried rice and pinakbet. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection
29 March 2021 13:53
We like a lot hanging out. Last night we found this superb place which friends recommended to us. We had a beautiful evening there with excellent dishes and a nice crew and a professional chief cook. We added this restaurant in our list and we shall no doubt visit again soon. We warmly recommend.
16 March 2021 1:47
Amazing place for Filipino food. I strongly recommend Kamayani feast, however they reduced the portion size in the last months.
15 March 2021 14:33
Very clean and accessible place. They provide generous portions and for reasonable prices. We liked the meals very much and the waiters were super personal and informative. I recommend this place.
04 March 2021 7:30
Very tasty Filipino Kamayan food, especially the grilled fish and meat! However, store space is very tight and they also never pick up their phone.even during non-peak hours.
They also "forgot" about an order we placed a week prior and they took someone else's order in order to accommodate us. Very disorganized.
27 February 2021 18:08
Definitely by far totally worth the experience and the food is AMAZING! They're super kind great service, the prices are amazing.
Pre-covid it was always packed. You had to always make reservations or you just wouldn't get a seat.
The restaurant is small so you were literally sitting quite close to the next table around you. That totally didn't matter it was the experience, by far my favorite restaurant. The food is so well cooked and presentation is WOW.
The experience of eating with your hands (they do provide you clear gloves as they do at other seafood restaurants) ZERO utensils!
Banana leafs on the table, bed of rice on top on Banana leafs and just everything on top of that. I literally considered eating like this at home. Easy clean up ha ha ha.
I'm not sure what life here would look like after Covid and I hope they figure it out. I haven't done take out as I live in the far west end, so not sure how they are serving take out. Maybe I will take a trip!?
14 February 2021 7:02
Tinuno is a family fave! We visited on a whim a few years ago and we haven't stopped going since. The kamayan is super delicious, simple, flavourful, and amazingly priced compared to other restaurants. Their staff is friendly and accommodating. The only thing I could recommend be updated is the current answering message
19 January 2021 1:05
This place is worth a try. They serve big portions for fair rates. Always well kept and with great mood. I highly recommend this place.
20 December 2020 20:31
I visit this place a lot since I work in the area. I have to say their customer service is always fantastic and they keep the spot well organized all the time. Prices are reasonable and they serve large portions.
07 December 2020 23:50
Orders keep arriving incomplete!

This is the second time we get an incomplete order. Their staff will blame doordash about the missing food but I never had issues with doordash before. They didnt care to refund my money for the food not provided or to give it to me later on. They didn't seem to care at all as they already had my money anyways. Food is not as good anymore either, most of the meat was raw. I will not be buying food from this place anymore as it is a complete letdown. Better take your money where you are appreciated and not ripped off.
07 December 2020 5:22
This site is my preferable site. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to this restaurant.everytime I feel like having a fair lunchon, this restaurant comes right away to my mind.very good and all kinds of food and a large menu.well mannered staff, and agreeable vibes. And very important, the expence is modest. I tell about this spot with pleasure.
18 October 2020 2:27
A must try! The tastiest seafood I have ever had in toronto! At a great price. The staff are incredibly fast and friendly. This place definetly transfer me to South East Asia with the banana leaf, shared plates, fruits, rice, and seafood!
25 February 2019 17:36
This place is very extremely dirt cheap. And the feast style presentation is great for taking pictures. But nothing tastes good. Also it's a fast food type of environment so it's really not meant to be an enjoyable meal. I don't really see the point of wasting your calories here.
24 February 2019 17:13
If you get seated upstairs, get ready to be ignored. We came here during lunch time and we waited one hour for our food, can only come if you have three hours planned. Not sure if it was hells kitchen or what but knowing that the menu is the same for everyone, you would think they know how to prep.
28 January 2019 21:51
Nothing would go wrong with the price you pay at this food joint. $15 per head for a sea bed of garlic rice.yes.steam rice mixed with flakes of garlic.its yummy if u like garlic. On top of the bed of rice the server will place one whole grilled tilapia, one grilled fish fillet, one whole grilled squid, some shrimps and would throw in some grilled eggplant and okras plus some meat skewers. What more can one ask for? ! For a group of five double the pcs of tilapia, fish fillet and squid. You can get refill of their seasoned rice too. Trust me, its so filling that you would avoid their refill of rice. Oh yes! Before they start pouring the rice on banana leaves, there will be some slices of seasoned mango and a wedge of lemon on the banana leaves in front of you. No plates no cutlery, no glasses of water. Gloves and bottle of water will be provided to you.
Food tasted fresh!
RESERVE before you go to avoid long waiting time.
27 January 2019 6:41
Great food. Amazing portions of rice and very tasty. The only reason why I'm giving a 4 stars is 2 things, one no beef options or vegetarians. And the washroom was a mess and toilet seat broken. The upstairs gets really stuffy cause they keep the door closed since there is a medical clinic right there and they ask you to be quiet. So next time for SURE TO ask ONLY RESERVATIONS ON THE MAIN FLOOR.
26 January 2019 4:40
Unique experience! As a spice-lover, it came off a little on the bland side but that’s a me problem.

Well cooked, great value, nice little space. Highly recommend!
26 January 2019 2:42
It was my first experience with Philippines food and I really enjoyed it. Food was a lot and very delicious. Most people eat with hand (using plastic gloves) but you can order fork and spoon. Overall I had a very good experience and enjoyed it a lot. It’s better to make reservation though. The place is pretty crowded!
21 January 2019 2:46
$15 feast has variety of sea foods in good portions at a reasonable price. I love their garlic rice and lemon fish. A great place for larger groups as well but make sure you make reservations in advance!
18 January 2019 14:20
Food for the price to value was good. As it was winter i was a bit sad some of the items got cold fairly quickly but overall a good place to come with friends
10 January 2019 6:40
This place is a hidden gem in my opinion. There were two of us, and you have to pick one of the two fish choices for the table (you have to pay extra if you want both). Since we don't eat pork, they offered to sub in both types of fish for no extra charge. For $15 per person, it was a lot of food for two people.

The food was delicious, perfectly charred, but I preferred the other fish over the tilapia. The taro ice cream was creamy and brought the meal together (this was extra, not part of the set meal).

I would highly suggest making a reservation in advance even if there's only 2 people going. They did get very busy, and they prioritized our reservation over walk-ins.
08 January 2019 13:03
The only kamayan place I'll go to.
You get more than what you pay for and the food is amazing, so it's worth your money! It tends to get packed quickly as it is a snack restaurant so I suggest you call and make a reservation.
28 December 2018 12:40
Food - 4 stars
Service - 4 stars
Price - 4 stars
Restaurant that started the kamayan craze. Missing longaniza and tosino from the choices however. Service is fairly fast, but gets busy. Price is good for the amount of food and portions.
15 December 2018 6:23
In this unassuming restaurant with simple décor, you can share and enjoy authentic Filipino cuisine without bothering with plates and utensils. After covering the table with banana leaves, the servers create a bed of rice on the leaves and then lay out the other food items on the rice.

The meal we had was primarily a seafood lunch, with fish, squid, mussels, and shrimps. There were also a few meat skewers and several pieces of okra. Relying on our fingers, we tore apart the fish and squid. We delivered bite size morsels, including rice, directly from the table to our mouths. The food was simply tasty. (Full disclosure: The restaurant provides disposable food preparation gloves. We all opted for this less than authentic mode of consumption.)

For $15 per person, the food was surprisingly delightful and plentiful. We had leftover to take home. What a unique culinary adventure we had!
01 December 2018 3:02
Get ready to get your hands messy at Tinuno. It's all hands on deck and no utensils. Don't worry though because you do get gloves.

Theirs only one set menu here which is seafood and meat over rice and some veggies and fruit too. Did I mention no plates either? All on the table for you to pick and eat as you like. Make sure your hand scooping skills are on point. This is a traditional style of eating that originates from the Philippines.

Definitely recommend to make a reservation before you dine here. It's popular and unique so a lot of people tend to eat here. It's not the biggest place either so it can get packed. Worth going to experience at least once in my opinion.
23 November 2018 20:01
This place serves authentic Filipino food. We were a group of 8 and we're seated with a long table. First, the table was covered with banana leaves, and then the food was arranged on top of it.

Mango salad for each person. Then rice was spread along the banana leaves for everybody. Next barbecued tilapia, squid, another type of fish, eggplant, mussels, barbecued chicken, pork satay. The pork satay was so delicious.

You ate with your fingers. Everything was good. We also ordered the mango juice. Although it came in a can, was so thick and tasty. Would love to come again.
22 November 2018 9:33
I went here for the first time a few years ago. Back then I probably would’ve given this restaurant a 4/5, but I tried it again a few days ago and was pretty underwhelmed. I think having already experienced this style of eating, the food itself is pretty boring. If you don’t use some sort of dipping sauce, everything tastes pretty bland. It is priced pretty well though if you’re not adding on any extras. Service is slow and it’s a very tight space. I think my favourite thing here is the garlic rice lol.
17 November 2018 4:47
Came here with a couple of friends on a weeknight and boy was this place packed! The restaurant itself was cozy and I think they try to accommodate as much people as they can possibly fit. It was a good thing we made reservations so we didn't have to wait a while for our food.

Food was your typical Filipinos kamayan fare.grilled fish, barbecue, garlic rice, grilled seafood, etc. The food itself was okay.nothing to rave about but still good. I wish they put a little salt on the fish though. It was a little bland for me.

It's a good place to introduce your non-Filipino friends to the Filipino culture.and not a bad price point too! Most kamayan places are quite pricey so I'm glad to see this place is charging a decent price.

Overall, a good experience if you want to try kamayan/budol fight. Just book ahead!
26 October 2018 7:55
Very Very Very pleased that we made the decision of going to TINUNO. A friend of mine had suggested we go there a year back. Didn't find the time then. We were 20 of us. Very small place but fabulous Filipino food. They gave us this room upstairs and we had a blast. The spread was awesome. Lot of fish and pork an lot of rice. It ws yummy and the best part is you have to eat on a banana leaf with your hands, no cutlery. Food taste great when you eat with ur hands. We had a blast and we are going back again.
16 October 2018 9:59
We ate and got smoked =) literally.they need to fix their exhaust fans.inside was totally smoking.we needed to wait so we can seat outside. Food was ok, actually the tilapia was good. I just dont get the servings or how they portion.we ordered for 3 adults, we got 1 whole tilapia fish, 1/2 milk fish, couple of shrimps and mussels and veggies.but while looking at the other side of the table, 2 adults almost got the same and the only difference I noticed is the rice.while paying i noticed another table with 2 adults.same thing, almost the same like what we got.im just curious on how they portion the food there. We tried the lechon unfortunately the skin is no crispy.hope they can improve the ventilation and also explain to customers what they get.
12 October 2018 12:56
This place is a bit of an overrated novelty. Firstly, we made a reservation for nine people and when we showed up and said two of our party couldn't make it, they still charged us for the full nine, claiming the "food was already made".

The food itself is sub-par. The portion is way too big and because it's all out in the open it gets cold fast. The vegetarian option which one person at our table got, looked boring and tasteless, so forget coming if you want to accomodate different diets.

Eating with your hands is about as messy and inconvenient as you'd expect - I get that it's part of the cultural experience here and maybe I'd be more into it if the food was halfway decent or easy to manipulate, but it's not. There's nothing to properly scoop the rice with, and you're expected to dig into a full cooked fish by hand - not ideal.

Maybe my experience would have been better if I was drunk - oh wait, they also don't have a liquor license. Skip this place and go to one of the many other good Filipino restaurants popping up in TO.
04 October 2018 3:41
Had the Kamayan! For $15 incredible value and tasted really good! Really great experience would come by again. The great food makes up for the crappy service. We went on a Friday night, definitely go early or make reservations because it's small and limited spots. The servers felt like they didn't care, didn't get out waters until the meal was over. They're lucky the food is so good!
20 September 2018 15:43
This really great hidden gem for Filipino restaurant in the Jamestown area. It’s is a really informal place with some really cozy seating.

My second time here was with a larger group of 7 people and we got placed in the upstairs dining room that was a very tight squeeze. The room has air conditioning but it’s uneven. It probably gets super hot during the winter months with seating in there that could potentially hold up to 35 people.

There really is one thing to order here and that is the kamiyan feast. They will adjust the portion sizes to your group size. Don’t worry about not having enough for the table, they will make sure you get fed.

Choose the milkfish over the tilapia. The milkfish is boneless and you won’t have to trouble yourself with fiddlin’ with deboning.

They will start you off with a fresh and tart mango salad and some orange slices later on. Your stomach will start rumbling when you eagerly await for them to lay out that savoury garlic rice. When they start placing the grilled milkfish, skewers, squid, mussels, shrimp, and eggplant that’s when you know you’re ready to rumble.

Gleefully put on those plastic gloves and eat with your hands. It’s really informal, across the table, and there is no wrong way to do it.
