Wanted to give 4.5 * but this was not an option. Had lens transplant in Dec 2023 by Dr Dean Smith, he was fabulous. Very reassuring at all times and explained everything clearly. Vision is 20/20 now. All staff prior to and during surgery were professional and friendly. The after care is where I deduct the half star. I was told to expect a call the following day between 8 & 11am, but I did not receive a call until 12.45pm, not a big deal but I felt the person who called was in a rush. The follow-up appointment also felt a little rushed, could be related to Christmas vacation time. Overall a very good experience.

My overall experience with TLC was great. The staff were professional and kind. Appointments were always on time. My only feedback is that patients who require pre medication should receive it sooner; giving it enough time to kick in. I felt really anxious during my procedure & felt that could have been minimized by receiving the pre medication once I arrived at the clinic.

From the first initial visit to the actual surgery TLC was professional, personable and made my mother feel totally at ease. Would not hesitate to recommend them for any type of eye care

Love the staff and Doctor Noordeh who were present on the day of my surgery. Dr Steve was also outstanding. I have much respect for Dr Noordeh as he made me almost fearless during the entire procedure. The amount.of time spent was very interesting and I was able to relax n recover quickly. This review is my journey to preserving my vision which began in august 2021, and ended with renowned success at The TLC eye Institute Oakville June 15 2023 under the incredible care and support of Izzy, and the knowledgeable and communicative optometrists, and the gifted surgical hands of Dr. Ahmed. For which, if it were not for them and Gods direction, I would not be able to have my vision back, and would be left with the knowledge that I was not a candidate for vision correction and slowly and assuredly continue to lose my vision and could no longer be corrected with glasses or contacts, I was at my max for vision correction. So my journey began with my optometrist referral to a vision care clinic which proved to not be able to help me due to my challenging vision needs. I was persistent and asked to be referred to another clinic. I then was referred to another clinic “Clear Vision” and was assessed again for eye surgery correction. Again.the Surgeon came out and said, I’m sorry. You are a very challenging case and I am not skilled enough to perform vision correction on you. My heart dropped and I began to cry and that Surgeon then said. However, I have a colleague I going to refer you too at The TLC Laser Eye Centre in Oakville that has the resources in the latest Lens implants and deals specifically in challenging eye cases such as yours. If this surgeon can not perform your surgery, there is no surgeon that can. So off I went with hope again in preserving my vision. So June 21 2022 I had my consultation at The TLC Oakville and walked out of that with the news that Dr. Ahmed could and would do my surgery. However, I would be his most challenging case, and as well, the lens implants that I needed, “Asphina Intra Ocular lens implants “ were not available in Canada and had to be special ordered from Germany. Manufactured by Zeiss, and would take months to receive them. Finally after almost 1 yr to the day of my assessment, On June 15 2023 I received my vision back! Within 2 hours of my surgery I was seeing better than I have ever seen in my entire life. I cannot express what a life changing experience this has been. Izzy, thank you for your patience, understanding and persistent support as I waited for my lenses to come in. Thank you to the optometrists for assuring me that this can be done. Thank you Dr. Ahmed for your gifted hands and knowledge and also assuring me that “we got this”. Thank you Maria, and Sonny for keeping me calm and understanding my anxiousness on surgery day. In the End. TLC Oakville staff became my heroes. But God was the director. He lead me to TLC through much prayer in healing my vision. He used TLC Oakville to show Himself and his healing gifts given to you all. I hope my journey will help others to know that TLC Oakville has what you need no matter your challenge. This centre was the #1 recommendation from my amazing optometrist and I knew laser surgery was something I wanted to do, but was skeptical. I went for my free consultation and Izzy put me at ease immediately and were up front with what to expect and what was expected from me. I realized the decision wasn't up to me, it was TLC determining if I was a candidate for them. Thankfully I was! 3 days later I went in to have the procedure and it couldn't have been any smoother! I went to have my eyes corrected but I got a crazy ab workout for all the laughs from the staff, especially Zarina! When it was my turn to go into the surgery room Dr. Dean Smith couldn't have been better and in a few minutes WHAM BAM AFGHANISTAN it was over! Painless and fun to be honest! Highly recommended. My experience was excellent. I was somewhat apprehensive to begin with but the staff and Dr. Smith ensured the the procedure would be over before I knew it. This eye centre is the BEST! The staff is very professional from the minute you receive the first TLC phone call, enter the building and ALL the steps/staff along the way! And, the office and bathrooms are very clean. So clean, you can eat your food off the floor! YES, I highly recommend this group to anyone.

I had LASIK done about a month ago and I’m beyond pleased with my results. I have friends tell me it was life altering, and it truly is life altering. There are so many instances I didn’t realize that wearing glasses was a hindrance to daily activities.

The staff was very thorough with any questions I had from my consultation right until the surgery was performed.

Dr. Dean Smith was highly recommended by my optometrist and I later found out through my clients that he’s well recognized across the GTA.
The team in the operating room was attentive and I was always informed on what was happening at all times.

I scheduled to arrive for 7: 30 and I was out just shortly after 9am.
I was told during my consultation that I needed 4 days off from work, I elected to take 5 days off and that was a smart decision because the eye drop schedule I was given required me to put the prescribed medication for 5 days. I couldn’t imagine going back to work and trying to do them because it took about 10 minutes, 3 times a day.
After my one week follow up with my optometrist, my eyes were fully healed and my vision was clear (granted that I was constantly putting in OTC eye drops every other hour or so).

If you’re someone who thought of doing vision corrective surgery and is able to, I highly recommend it.

I had a great experience getting lasik with Dr. Smith and the rest of the lovely people at TLC Oakville! Everything went smoothly and all my questions were answered with detail. I was also told exactly what to expect and given a printout of after care instructions and a checklist for the eye drops schedule. I would definitely recommend TLC Oakville and Dr. Dean Smith!

Amazing experience. Staff was wonderful and explained the whole procedure multiple times so you feel comfortable. Preformed many tests to make sure I was a great candidate. Using TLC Oakville was an amazing experience for my laser eye surgery. I had a consult with another brand name place and it was so bad I didn't even want to move forward with the procedure. However, I reluctantly booked a consult with TLC and wow, what a great experience from the start. They accommodated any changes I needed to make and remembered me every time I called. When I went in for the follow up, the front desk even recalled I was the one having trouble getting my prescription filled due to a backorder on the drug, and they helped me through that as well. Got 20/15 vision so far and am loving it! Wish I had done this sooner

I had a very positive experience, everyone was very professional and kind. They made sure I understood every step of the process and continued to guide me through it as the procedure took place. After many years of hesitating to have laser eye surgery, I finally took the plunge on December 9,2022, and I'm so glad I did. All the staff were incredibly helpful and reassuring before the procedure and the day of. I was pleasantly surprised that I could see better right after the procedure, so much so, that I started to cry. The emotion came after years of waking up to a blurry world. I had brief discomfort for about 4 hours and it was a bit foggy that day, which was to be expected. The very next morning I could see clearly. It's worth the investment and will dramatically change your life. I highly recommend TLC Laser Eye Centres.

The whole process was completely transparent and I was completely informed at every step. They promised and predicted what I hoped for and over delivered. Wait time was excellent, courteous staff, triple excellent result.

I'm 2 days post-op and so far so good. The end-to-end experience at the Oakville clinic took less than 2 hours. All of the staff and doctors were kind and helpful. Everything was straightforward and explained clearly. If you're tired of your glasses fogging up while wearing a mask, or waking up and fumbling for your glasses, and if your prescription is relatively simple, I highly recommend going to this clinic. It's a significant improvement in quality of life.

My experience was absolutely phenomenal. The facility in Oakville is so clean and nice. The team is so calming, kind, and professional. I was fairly anxious prior to lasik surgery, however the team allowed me to feel comfortable. They answered all of my questions and fully explained every step of the procedure from start to finish (including post-op expectations and instructions), which genuinely allowed me to feel relaxed. I also love that lasik is now completely bladeless. They provided stress balls in the shape of eyeballs to squeeze during surgery, which I thought was so funny and clever (It really helped haha). The procedure and post-op was an amazing experience; I felt no pain at all and anytime you may feel slight discomfort, they clearly tell you what to expect which was very tolerable (It was as if they knew exactly what I was feeling and described it in detail to me as it was happening, so I never felt alone or confused). They also provide you with sunglasses at the end to wear immediately after the procedure. Dr. Smith is so fantastic, he is so kind and honestly the best surgeon I have ever met. He has a way of allowing people to feel comfortable and relaxed just by simply talking through everything. I told Dr. Smith that he changed my life and that I am so thankful. I am so impressed with the results and quick recovery period. Just for a reference, I had surgery on Friday and will be back to work on Sunday. The entire experience was 10/10. I will recommend booking a consult to everyone I know that is interested in refractive corrective surgery. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

The doctor who initially did my surgery was amazing. But I highly do not recommended this location to anyone. As you all may know this surgery isn’t cheap. I feel as if they take your money and just dismiss you afterwards. Eye surgery isn’t something that should be taken lightly as it is a major part of your body. Without your eyes you can’t see! My post op experience was absolutely terrible. From missed appointments, not on my behalf but on TLC’s, to phone tag. I just felt like I wasn’t being taken serious. Especially for the after care of my eyes. Fast forward a couple months after surgery, again same treatment still. I was given a different time than what’s in TLC’s system. No phone calls or emails to remind you of the date and time of your appointment. I just know if LASIK surgery is something you are interested in and through TLC please do not go to this location. I’m completely disappointed in the way I’ve been continuously treated. Not impressed and do not recommend this location.

Booked my appointment easily and quickly. They emailed me tons of information on PRK and Lasik and answered the phone promptly if I had any questions! Dr. Dean Smith did an amazing job at calming my anxiety, explaining the procedure as it was happening, and answering my questions. My eye doctor said I had 20/15 vision just the next day! Im now 1 week post op and my eye doctor said my eyes look perfect and textbook, and my vision is now 20/10. After spending almost my entire life wearing contact lenses and glasses I can confidently say I am more than satisfied with my Lasik outcome and would highly recommend TLC Laser Eye Centre.

Best experience ever I definitely chose the right place. There was no pressure to go through with it, the procedure was explained in ways I understood it was quick and the recovery was painless and the results are immaculate. And they truly care for their patients and let them know about ongoing promotions I saved $1000 dollars. All staff I interacted with was polite, personable and caring. TLC Oakville and Dr Ike Ahmed are nothing short of exceptional. The thorough consult, communication, clear options, scheduling, surgery and aftercare was top notch.

I was referred to three clinics after much research and travelled from downtown Toronto to TLC Oakville specifically to access Dr Ahmed. It was hands down the top choice. Fully happy with the decision and extra travel - each staff member and technician was just fantastic. I would recommend this clinic without hesitation, no matter where you live. Consultation process was very good. Izzy (counsellor) and the optometrist were informative, and quick with email response, and made me feel comfortable.

However, on the day of the surgery and post-op day 1 follow up appointment, I felt a little rushed. From being guided through patient consent form to surgery to day 1 post-op appointment, it felt like I was squished in a short time slot for my appointments to be completed.

Overall, I am happy with the result, and would recommend TLC to others.

I am so beyond satisfied with TLC. They were so transparent with me about the process from the beginning. I had my LASIK procedure done on December 9th by Dr. Dean Smith. The entire process, from the free consultation to booking my appointment with Patty to the surgery, went very smoothly. They answered all my questions and didn't pressure me to book an appointment right after the consultation. I went to consultations at 2 other places and ultimately chose TLC because I felt the most comfortable at TLC given their technology and the calibre of their surgeons. Dr. Smith was great - he talked me through the surgery as it was happening step by step and kept me calm. TLC also took care of my 24 hour post op appointment, which was very convenient. Would definitely recommend TLC to my friends and family!

I had the best professional experience at TLC clinic. All of the staff are amazing and their care for their patients are compassionate. Their Covid-19 protocol is implacable. I had a RLE surgery done and Dr. Smith was excellent, he made me feel at ease and was explaining and calming me down throughout the whole procedure. The staff followed up with me the next day after the surgery, and answered all my questions. Thought we would share our recent experience at TLC where we each had cataract removal surgery and the related lens replacement.   The entire TLC team, led in our case by Dr. Anu Ondhia on the examination, testing, evaluation and follow up side and by Dr. Dean Smith on the surgical side, was simply outstanding.   From the initial consultation to the discussion of our options that resulted in the  recommendation of the Vivity lens customized to meet our individual needs through to the entire surgical and post-surgical experience, we were treated professionally, respectfully and kindly.   All our questions were answered clearly.   We are both thrilled with the outcome as the results were virtually immediate, dramatic and "clearly" exceeded our expectations.   Our day to day lives have been made so much easier now that we can see so "vividly".   We have been talking up our experience with our friends with a strong recommendation for TLC and the Vivity lens.

Everything started on time. No waiting around! The actual surgery was a breeze. The facility was clean and well maintained. I highly recommend that you get your laser eye surgery done here. Ask for Dr. Smith and feel confident you are in experienced hands.

I came in to fix a -7.5 prescription. They were kind and helpful in getting me through the LASIK process. I had a slight hiccup with one of my eyes, but they helped me keep calm and found a work around through the pain and get everything done within a reasonable time. I just finished my 24 hour post-op at my local clinic and found out that I'm recovering faster than average (already 20/20 in one eye!) The team did an amazing job and I'm grateful for all of the work they did.

Got my Lasik done at the end of April and regard it as the best decision I ever made! Consultation, tests and service was exceptional even before the procedure started. All my questions were answered and I was reassured every time I had hesitations. The procedure itself was seamless and went extremely smoothly due Dr. Smith's expertise. I was made comfortable and was walked through step by step through the entire procedure by their team. I was given proper aftercare instructions and have 20/20 vision with no issues months later. I contacted TLC to address distance vision & astigmatism and was advised about lens replacement. I found their pricing to be reasonable and went through the surgery from Dr Smith that was quick and painless. Here is my experience:
The TLC clinic is on the second floor. The receptionist is friendly and easy going. You go through the covid drill and you get to go in and fill a history form.

Then a technician takes you in for eye prescription test and cornea mapping. This creates a profile of your eyes that helps them give you advice. Tech is serious.

Then you see a doctor who makes a recommendation for surgery or no surgery.

Found them prompt - no time wasting. They told me that I will be there for two hours but the whole thing took 30 minutes.

I have nothing but great things to say about my experience. Such positive, professional and knowledgeable staff and Dr's from the consult all the way to the actual procedure. I highly recommend the Oakville location

The receptionist I talked to was great. They followed COVID-19 protocols and made Medical feel safe.

Did some eye tests with a technician and she was very nice and made sure I wasn't in pain and that I was comfortable all the time.

Just had my lasik done yesterday and went for my follow up this morning. I am blown away, the experience was flawless from start to finish. The staff at TLC were a pleasure and Dr. Smith made me feel safe and comfortable. Extremely happy with everything and already loving my new eyes!

I had my laser eye surgery at TLC oakville in April 2021. Throughout the consult and various examinations i was told that the procedure will be lasik. However a few minutes before stepping into the OR, the nurse informed me that Dr. Ahmed reviewed my files and now the procedure will be PRK. I had no idea what PRK was and had not done any research into it but I had trusted decision made by the surgeon. I was told that they recovery would be 3-5 days. I agreed and swallowed 600mg advil and ativan and had the procedure done in a few minutes. I thought they would keep you for observation but you are shown out the door the second you step out of the OR. My recovery was NOT 3-5 days. It was horrible burning pain for 5 days. It felt like my eyes were burning inside out. It was two weeks before I could do anything normal chores and full month before I could drive or work on a computer. I wish the clinic was more upfront about the recovery and also that they gave me a copy of all the documents that they made me sign in the beginning. If PRK is your recommended procedure, be prepared for a longer (painful) recovery. After 3 months, I can finally see clearly. My reading vision is still blurry in the morning and i have to constantly rely on eye drops.

I am so happy having chosen to get my lasik done at TLC. During the consultation they were very informative and were straight forward when answering any questions without the annoying pressure of getting you to book before you're ready. From communication leading up to the surgery and on the day of surgery all the staff and the surgeon were super helpful and accommodating especially when it came to easing nerves before and during the surgery. I would reccomend.

Outstanding performance! I can see crystal clear and never have to worry about wearing glasses or irritating contact lens ever again! My whole experience was amazing, everyone working at that clinic is so nice, patient and knowledgeable. Zero complaints. Dr. Smith is extremely nice and professional, answered to all my worries/questions and had some good laughs to ease my anxiety.

Life Changing.
For a person who has worn glasses for 24 years, I was very nervous of laser eye surgery. I first looked into this in 2012 and waited 9 years to do it but oh how I wish I had done it sooner! Life changing is the only word to describe the whole thing. TLC is exceptional. From the consultation and how friendly the consultants and staff are, to the emails they send prior to your surgery day that go over everything and what to expect pre and post op. On the day of, The staff welcomed me and made me feel very comfortable as I still had hesitation (never touched my eyes or worn contacts before). Izzy the eye councillor was very helpful and made my nerves go away. Amanda the eye tester also made the process a lot easier by talking to me about it and letting me know I really had nothing to worry about. I forgot a few other names but both optometrists pre and post op were amazing. Dr. Smith the surgeon talked with me throughout the process and it was a lot quicker than I had assumed. 0 pain and minimal discomfort. Dr. Smith, thank you for giving me the ability to see better than perfect with my own eyes again and the whole entire staff thank you for everything. You cant imagine how life changing that is for someone like myself who travels a lot participates in a lot of outdoor activities and sports etc. I Highly recommend TLC Oakville to anyone who is considering getting laser eye surgery done, it is hands down the best decision and investment I have made in my life! Dr. Smith was amazing! He was so sweet, warming and professional. He explained everything step by step while making sure I was comfortable and relaxed. He was recommended to me by my uncle and his wife. I was super nervous about it and he made sure I was calm. I did take the sedative which helped big time. The staff all are very friendly and helpful. The procedure was literally 10 mins long. The freezing stung a bit and there was a little bit of discomfort when the machine puts pressure on your eyes to cut the flap but lasts only 4 seconds. By that time the sedative is kicking in and the humming of the machine and lights that you stare at make you very sleepy and calm. Then your done! The day of the surgery your eyes are watering all the time so you can’t keep them open. Resting helps and being awoken to puts the drops in as scheduled help big time too. They say if you fall asleep don’t wake up to put the drops in and once you wake up put the drops and then follow the schedule. My left eye is completely fine like nothing happened. My right eye even after 5 days still feels dry and like something is in it but it’s because I have astigmatism. It’s normal and has been getting better. It was worth every penny because now I can see 20/20 and I can do things that I have never done as a child because contacts lenses and glasses get in the way. Thank you!

After wearing glasses for 15 years, TLC has helped me get my vision back. From the staff to the overall experience, it was amazing and I highly recommend TLC for lasik and any eye correction surgeries. All staff members are very friendly and welcoming and work with you one on one. If you are reading this review, and considering Lasik, you will not regret going to TLC and getting it done.

I’m really glad that I did Lasik - been 2 weeks post op and so far so good. The staff were nice, my Patient Coordinator- Olivia was really helpful, responsive and patient in responding to all my queries. The Doctors were knowledgeable which really helped me in making this huge decision, bed side manner is also great!

TLC staff were professional and informative. My surgeon was Dr. Dean Smith. He explained each step during the eye surgery and the whole thing lasted for about 10 minutes both eyes.loved the staff and place.

My prescription was -7.25 when I walked in and I had the pleasure of having Dr. Ahmed perform my surgery. Everyone at TLC was incredibly friendly and helpful.
