I had such a positive experience here at Toronto Art. They helped me grow artistic abilities and get into Sheridan Animation. Eternally grateful for this beautiful place. 5 stars!

With less than four months left, my daughter was preparing a portfolio for Sheridan Animation and found Toronto Art, a small but specialized school. Janet's knowledge of these areas convinced me we were in the right place. With the help of teachers, my daughter finally got the offer of Sheridan animation. Big thanks to Janet and her team. I also highly recommend this school to anyone in need.

I went to this studio in September of last year looking to get my animation portfolio done in high quality that would get me accepted. I'm happy to say that I was left very satisfied and achieved the goal that was set out when joining! I recently got accepted into sheridan after being waitlisted, and I don't think that would've happened without the studio and their staff helping me out! Would recommend to anyone who is trying to get into a competitive art program.

I definitely recommend this place for art program preparation! The teachers are very kind, caring and skilled. They were with me when I started making my portfolio for animation program, and helped me a lot through the process. Not only I got the offer for my first choice, I could grow as an artist as I learned so much from the teachers. I am very thankful for all of the teachers here.

Almost every morning, I cannot but help think of Toronto Art, Janet and Jun and its dedicated teachers at the school.
My daughter Paige in now almost completing her first semester in third year Sheridan College in the Bachelor of Animation Degree program. She is looking forward towards a good co-op experience sometime next summer.
Her journey began at Toronto Art. A young girl, whose passion was to become an animator, was confused and did not have a starting point. She knew she had to prepare a portfolio but did not have a clear direction. Researching further, she stumbled upon Toronto Art.
Speaking to Janet was like speaking to that invaluable mentor. She took my daughter from the level she was at and with the further guidance and encouragement, alongside Jun and other teachers at Toronto Art, all I can say is that the rest is history.
My daughter Paige is pursuing her passion, her dream and someday, animation will become her destiny.
Could we have done this alone? A definite No!
Thank you so much Toronto Art!
Thank you so much Janet!
Thank you so much Jun!
Thank you so much to all the teachers at Toronto Art!
Not a day goes by when I don't think of you Janet and your school and how it has prepared my child.
You have allowed my child Paige Anthony to dream further and bigger and go on a journey towards realizing her dream.
The Anthony family is ever so grateful.
I highly, highly recommend Janet's school Toronto Art. It will prepare your child to shoulder the responsibilities this degree program will bring.

My son spent three weeks in Toronto with me this summer, and we decided that he needed to start preparing his portfolio for college (he was rising 11th grader in a U. S.high school). We needed a place that wasn't just an art school/camp where kids just take recreational art classes. We need place that could really prepare him for college but also be flexible about our limited schedule/time in Toronto. Janet, the art school director, was very helpful over the phone and in person. She's very knowledgeable, even about schools in the US and about the college portfolio process. My friend had a daughter applying for specialized art high school in New York, and Janet was similarly helpful to her as well. The school is small and the classes are small, so it feels very personal, but it still has a very professional feel, despite its small size. The Toronto Art School also specializes in Animation Art, which is my son's special interest. He said he found the animation art teacher's advice and guidance very useful and he has been able to apply those suggestions to other/future drawings. The tuition was very affordable and reasonable. Coming from New York, the Toronto Art class rates seemed like a great deal. I wish we had a school like this in our area back home. I was very impressed, enough so that my son travelled 35-45 minutes each way three times a week for three weeks, during a summer vacation, to take those classes. Thank you, Janet and Toronto Art School! UPDATE: I took my son to National Portfolio Day in NYC for different art schools to review his work (he's an 11th grader, so he still has one year before he needs to make any submissions), and the one finished piece he came out with during his time at the Toronto Art school was the one piece that all the schools he asked to review his work absolutely loved. I wished he had finished more pieces, but I'm also glad he used some of his time there to learn techniques.
UPDATE 2: My son is now a rising sophomore at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY!

I started going to Toronto Art School in October, 2021 and by the end of January I was able to create an architecture portfolio that got me into my top choice for University. The staff here are amazing and were extremely helpful to me. They taught me how to sketch, model using foam core, pain, and make marker renderings within this very short period of time. If you are looking to make a portfolio for university, I would recommend enrolling into this school as soon as possible. This will give you more time to build a high quality portfolio, and it will make it easier for you to get the help you need. All in all I highly recommend this school.

Toronto Art helped me get admitted into my top choice university for architecture. Over the past year, including through the difficult time of Covid, the dedicated and talented teachers were quick to accommodate my needs and were extremely helpful to me. Jun and Janet are very kind and experienced, always willing to help their students achieve their best potential, and teaching many small lessons/techniques about art that stay with you while building your portfolio. I learned a huge variety of mediums, developed my own style, and gained a more critical and knowledgeable eye towards design in general. My skills improved exponentially during my classes, and I developed a better sense of creativity that was only ever encouraged and inspired by the genuine and caring nature of all the teachers. Words cannot describe my appreciation - I learned so much and will always remember fondly my time spent here, even during the hassle and stress of Covid. Thank you Jun and Janet for all of your help:)

Toronto Art has been the most helpful and creative community I've ever been a part of. Jun and Janet ensure that you can achieve your goals no matter how big the obstacle or how far they may seem. They helped me achieve what felt like the impossible, getting into my dream schools with significant scholarships and pushing me creatively throughout the process. If I could give anyone reading this a piece of advice, it would be to sign up for classes or give them a call right now. They do everything for their students. I am beyond thankful I had them guide me through the university application process. Making a portfolio during a time crunch is incredibly difficult, and I couldn't have done it without them. They've shaped my experience, technique, mindset, work ethic, and artistic vision, and I am forever grateful. Lots of love to Toronto Art!

Am a former student of Toronto Art studio and am now just finishing first year architecture university. I have been coming to this studio since grade 10, and they have really helped me learn along the way. Jun and Janet were amazing in making sure I had everything I needed for my portfolio and arranging lessons during the pandemic. I won’t have been able to finish and put together my portfolio if I haven’t had the staffs’ help and guidance throughout those times. I would definitely recommend students coming here because the staff here truly cares about you and the quality of your work.

I came to Toronto Art to extend my art skills to help perfect and improve my portfolio to get into animation after trying for two years after graduating. Right from the beginning my life drawing instructor jun showed how to draw simplistic yet realistic poses with simple basic methods and with a live model in front of you. I also took a portfolio prep class where i was given the time to work on mainly two point perspective drawings. My teachers Claire and Apollo both provided me with helpful ways to create realistic and accurately correct rooms in both perspective and measurement. By February my portfolio was done and ready, and within a month I got accepted into animation by Humber. I start this fall and I can’t thank the teachers enough

I would highly recommend Toronto Art. They have excellent teachers who helped my son build a great portfolio in just four short months. He was accepted to the Architecture program. Amazing school and great staff.

I got into my first choice Architecture program:) Due to the unstable situation because of the pandemic, it was quite a challenge for me to prepare the portfolio by myself. And Toronto Art was the exact place I was looking for. Toronto Art has a nice studio, that provides a calm and motivating atmosphere. There are great qualified, competent teachers, who are there to support every student. By relieving my concerns, I was able to focus on my portfolio itself besides worrying about preparations of supplies and time managements. Janet gave me a lot of mental support which was not limited to art wise. As well as Jun helped me with brainstorming ideas while emphasizing my strengths and desires within the project. I highly recommend this studio to students who are trying to build a strong portfolio for their application.

A fantastic place to learn art. All the teachers are amazing at what they do already and it's super interesting to learn from them. They've really helped me get into the college I wanted to go to and provided me with mountains of knowledge I'm going to need for the future. For people who are going into animation like me I would recommend Toronto Art in a heartbeat.

Previously I had applied to Sheridan animation two times and failed to get in. For this third time I came here for help with my portfolio. I was encouraged to apply to both Sheridan and Seneca's animation programs and got accepted into both.

Very good art school with a nice teacher who offers university portfolio help. Got scholarships from many schools internationally.

Toronto Art is a very great art school for those who wants to improve their art skills and improve their portfolio! I took Life drawing and animation class for a few months there and I was able to improve a lot in such a short amount of time. Both the animation and life drawing teachers helped a lot in helping me improve. They were also very supportive! I Highly recommend this school!

As a former student of Toronto Art, I can safely say Toronto Art was very helpful. After spending 2 years here preparing my architecture and interior design portfolio, I was able to apply and receive early admission offers from my first choice university programs.
Having past art education background, I was able to get assistance in expanding my creative thinking and originality as an artist. Jun never failed to challenge and push me out of my comfort zone, which ultimately led me to create numerous pieces which i’m very proud of. Janet was also very accommodating and organized with class schedules, which was very helpful especially during the outbreaks in the Covid-19 pandemic. Serafima, the assistant art teacher was very helpful in catching small corrections and fine detail art pieces as well. Juno, the assistant teacher was very knowledgeable about the architecture field and was very helpful in idea generation.
Overall a great experience. I would definitely recommend Toronto Art to anyone looking to apply to post secondary visual arts/interior design/ architectural design programs.

This is a fantastic art studio! The art instructors in Toronto Art are very experienced. They fully understand the art portfolio requirements and their admissions criteria for the art colleges and universities in North America. The art director, Jun, is an amazing art teacher who can provide the guide for almost everything! The director Janet is extremely helpful and supportive of the university applications. My daughter was lucky to have Jun as her central art teacher and she was accepted into the top art design school in the United States. My daughter told me she learnt a variety of artistic skills, including new techniques and brainstorming creative ideas during her couple of months in Toronto art. The skills she gained from Toronto Art will help for her future study in the university. We appreciate all the work they have done for my daughter and would definitely recommend Toronto Art for students who are looking to build strong portfolios for the university applications.

Very impressed with Toronto Art. They definitely made it possible for my son to make the cut for Sheridan Animation. Life drawing is a component of the portfolio. My son became skilled at life drawing with a few months' of instruction here. He had no previous experience. Great art school.

I started coming to Toronto Art in grade 11 to prepare for working on a portfolio. As I did not have any prior or additional art education, the instructors introduced me to perspective, still life and architectural drawing, using pencil and watercolour techniques. This gave me confidence to continue to work and further develop these skills on my own. In grade 12, the Toronto Art team was instrumental in helping my 3D model come to life. They guided me through the transformation of my initial concept into a 3D model I was proud of. This was especially apparent in their dedication towards helping me reach my goal, as they were willing to stay overtime to help me finish the model, under the crunch of COVID lockdown schedules, as well as provided me with professional photos for my portfolio. Throughout the process, Janet and Jun were very encouraging and helpful, and they genuinely cared about my progress and about seeing me do well. With their support I was able to get accepted and attend the architecture university program of my choice.

Toronto art is a great school, the teachers there have taught me so much in such a short period of time. I took their portfolio preparation classes and because of them I got into the collage of my choice. Jun and Janet have pushed me to become a better artist and helped me understand the quality of work I must provide in order to become an animator. Great staff and amazing overall experience

Amazing school for building a portfolio. I wouldn't have been able to get into Sheridan Animation without the support from the instructors here.
23 April 2021 6:03
It was a wonderful experience.
They have a large number of professional and talented teachers.   The teachers with great techniques did their best to guide me.   If you want to have a great experience at this school, be sure to ask the teachers a lot of questions.  The more questions you ask, the more the teachers will tell you.
Even if you study at one of the best art schools in the world, personal growth is always your job.
No one can grow if they rely solely on school instead of personal practice time.
If you always reflect on yourself and work hard, this school will be the best place to learn for you and will definitely support you.

I started portfolio classes in the summer of 2020. At this point, I had not picked up a pencil in years. Janet was extremely supportive throughout the whole process- she had even taken care to print out a list of schools and deadlines. Jun provided much valuable guidance on different mediums. Other instructors (particularly Friedrich) was amazing and constantly provided feedback and help. Especially in the Covid environment and the constant closures, this studio continued to provide help in the best way they can. They really care about their students and the overall environment of the studio is extremely supportive. I would definitely recommend Toronto Art!

I started taking the art classes here on the last week of Aug 2019 and was able to finish 15 pieces by the end of Dec. Thanks to Jun, Janet and all of the teachers here, I learned so much and had such a great time. I enjoyed every moment. Thanks to their helps, I am able to chase my dream and move forward without hesitation.
I was very nervous before I consulted with Janet, doubting myself if I can finish my portfolio before the earliest deadline. The feeling has never come back after I talked to Janet and Jun and started taking the classes.
Janet is very sweet, honest and thoughtful. She's always on top of everything. Jun is so calm, resourceful and patient. He'll always try to push you and help you to come up with better and more creative ideas. I feel like no matter what question I have or what trouble I encounter, he always have a solution or another way around. His optimism gave me a lot of courage. Serafima, who's one of my favorite teachers, taught me how to work with colours. She also helped me so much on perspective drawings. She's an amazing artist, and such a supportive friend. She made the classes full of joy. I am so grateful that she's always there ready to help you no matter what. I took several late night classes, and her existence have definitely helped me keep going.
Moreover, the atmosphere here is so encouraging. Every one is so hardworking and focused, but at the same time, very cheerful and friendly. I got a lot of inspiration from the students.
After I've finished all of the classes, I decided to come back and help out in the future whenever I'm free.
I'm so grateful that I found this school and took classes here. I'll recommend it to everyone who wants to learn art and design without hesitation. Thank you Janet, Jun, Serafima and every teacher here! Thank you for helping me to make my dream come true.

Update: I have received offer from Pratt Institute Master of industrial design, which is my first pick. I have also received offers from CCA and ArtCenter. Thank you so much for all the help! The most important thing is, with my own effort and all the knowledge and inspiration I got from the teachers and other students, I built up a portfolio that I have never thought I would be able to do so in such a short time.

I started going to Toronto Art in October of 2019 in order to build my portfolio for graduate studies in architecture. The art teachers, including the owners Jun and Janet, were patient and extremely helpful when it came to instruction. Their hands on approach and extensive knowledge were crucial in my being able to develop a portfolio on such short notice. The facilities are well maintained, with the studio having a comfortable environment. The studio is equipped with quality art supplies in all mediums, allowing you to develop ideas without having a medium hold you back. Looking back, I would not hesitate to return to Toronto art as my experience was amazing. I would highly recommend Toronto Art to anyone looking to develop a portfolio for high-school, undergraduate, and graduate programs, as well as for personal pleasure.
