My five-hour emergency room visit exposed me to unprofessional and discourteous behavior from staff towards the suffering patients. This was, without a doubt, the worst hospital experience I've ever had. I've always believed that empathy is an essential quality for a nurse, until I saw this particularly rude tall white woman with glasses and messy high ponytail bun in the emergency room.

Given my self-respect as a human being, I would never consider returning to this hospital, not even if I were in a life threatening situation. The lack of compassion and professionalism exhibited by the staff has left an indelible mark on my perception of this facility, and I cannot in good conscience subject myself to such treatment again.

One of the best hospitals in the world and it is because it has the best healthcare service in Canada, the doctors are very friendly and well trained, as is the team that works with them, and it is very clean everywhere.thank you for being part of toronto

My 83 year old mother went to er at 1 pm left after 8 hours untreated as they were busy and didn’t have a bed

I’m embarrassed to be Canadian. The complete lack of personal incentives for workers in our healthcare system makes for one of the most inefficient structures ever created.

Considering the negative reviews, I was nervous of coming here as I am not from here. Registration and Triage was very quick, waited 20 minutes max to be seen for assessment in the rapid assessment centre. Pain medication given right away and now waiting for results. All the staff have been professional, informative and kind but miscommunication is the only issue. So far my experience has been positive and felt like my needs were met.

Dr. Nazanin Meshkat was no help. I came in with a clogged ear and pain. She told me just keep taking olive oil. I told her its not working and that the excessive ear wax needs to be flushed out. She still insisted that it will work if I use it consistently. She refused to listen to me. She was uptight, stubborn and rude. She talked to me in a condescending manner that made me assume that she harbours some prejudice that clouded her judgment. My experience with Dr. Meshkat makes me question her professionalism and knowledge. I recommend the hospital to keep a close eye on her

Worst nightmare in my life. I wan to know did you do any drug tests to the doctors who working in emergency department?

You so do that because the doctor I deal he was so high he did not listen when I told him I'm allergic to medication (hydromorfine) he did not listen when I try to explain my medical history and what happen he assumed I have cancer and come to the room and yelling to me because he wan to make a test without my concent
When i ask if the have any specialist doctor who know how to do this test he's not answer he's not listen

He left the room so upset. I took he's report and he's lying he's covering about he's mistake with someone else singing these report.

I want to thank the staff support workers, nurses, am the doctor Hassan In the emergency room. I was very impressed the time it took to see the doctor I also was impressed with the website as it gives you a pretty accurate time on when you will be seen by a doctor it also gives you approximate times in the emergency waiting area a how many patients are waiting and how long.

It didn't matter who I spoke too from desk, check to the nurse and doctor they kept informed and they made feel so comfortable. I can't say enough.

Who ever is doing hiring human resources or whoever

I ended up coming here by EMS as I am having trouble breathing, eating, drinking, swallowing and so on. After 4 hours of waiting, and being moved into a room to be moved back to a waiting room numerous times, I can definitely say this is a horrible hospital. At one point in the Rapid Assessment Centre there were only four of us, an hour later of waiting suddenly SIX others are ahead of me. The man with the green glasses made the biggest difference here if it wasnt for his kindness trying to get me what I need and doing his best to keep another man comfy. I’d be stuck watching this one european lady, who told me to wait til shes done on the computer continue to talk to the other hospital staff while I stand there like a fool. Can’t wait to get out of here.

Edit: after 6 hours of dosing in and out I had a doctor help and and send me on my way.

Time efficiency could be improved across the hospital.

My doctor gave me a referral to the ER and get an urgent US, despite my symptoms not being present that day.the doctor ignored the US request because I didn't have pain/ symptoms despite me telling the nurse working with him that I did have a slight pain that day. I felt very breezed over and disregarded despite being told by my doctor to go to the ER with or without symptoms.

My husband received great care and attention from all nurses and doctors.
The only complaint I have is that the housekeeping on the 9 th floor is awful!
My husband was in step down and the floor were not washed or bathroom cleaned the entire week he was there.
If the hospitals are about preventative measures of infection they need to have their cleaning staff doing their job.
I saw the housekeeper waking around, grabbing drinks etc instead of cleaning.
I have worked at hospitals and never saw this with any of the housekeepers I worked with.

Overall our experience was wonderful.

I currently have a family member In here. The place is disgusting.emergency waiting room is filthy. Dried vomit on the front door to get in has clearly been there for sometime, caked on dirt on the doors, dirt piled on the floor, dried bodily fluids on the floor and to top it all off the most ignorant staff I have seen in any hospital. The patients will come out sicker than when they went in

Waiting 10 hours in the EMERGENCY room just only for scanning results is a great feeling! Every single tax payer Canadian should get a taste of it!

I had day surgery booked at Toronto General Hospital on March 28th/23’ for melanoma on my leg. My experience was fine and I’m glad to have had the surgery. There was one particular nurse, ‘Michael’ Filipina nurse on the pre operative care unit ‘nurse station B’. She was so wonderful and really cared for me after the surgery. I was very sick and was hyper sensitive to the anesthesia. I was the last one to leave out as my surgery was delayed. Michael was very informative and explained the after care. She stayed past her shift, and made sure I recovered. She really is a gem, one of kind who truly is passionate about her job. Many thanks to her & my oncologist who performed the surgery.

It's been 7 months now since I had a liver transplant at TGH and their service was impeccable, even amidst covid, and the merchandise has performed perfectly. Very reasonably priced as well. Would recommend.

2023 Edit: Still working perfectly!

This hospital is a lie, its been more than 2.5 hours i am sitting in the waiting area and no one called any patient and there time seen by doctors also a big lie it shows 2 hours. Very stupid, they should hire more doctors instead of extra nurses and other staff. We are not paying taxes to be left untreated or very long wait.

Also, all the staff mostly nurses are on their cellphone or sometimes chatting with other staff. Waiting time is increasing and being treated time fluctuating as they have set on Tv for their reputation but they are not calling any patient inside. Triage Nurse does not understand the condition. I had worst experience here. Will not pay or file any taxes to pay these government staff if we are not getting service.

Absolutely the worst hospital ever. Came in to get checked after being attacked by a stranger. Got here at 5 and waited 4 hours in the “RAPID ASSESSMENT” section to get checked. Every other patient that came after me got checked first while I sat and never got checked. All while dealing with a head injury and pain. I asked for a estimate time and they disregarded me and brushed me off by saying I don’t know. What do you know? All the nurses and doctors like to sit at the desk and chitchat. While I was on the phone with my mom all they were doing was talking about Chanel bags and the death of Jerry Springer. Super unprofessional and lazy.

i have spent the last 4 weeks in Toronto General Hospital and this is not my first visit to a hospital in last 10 years due to a few health issues.
By far they have best services, Doctors and Nurses, technology and equipments and most important of all THEY DO CARE ABOUT PEOPLE.

Worst emergency experience ever. Been waiting for 6 hours and the nurses told me just wait till the doctor comes to see me. No body asking me how I feel as a person comes for emergency in the waiting room. It could be the worst decision that I made trusting them for saving me.

The general waiting room is small and the chairs needs to be cleaned-they were dirty and had stains on them. Waited 7.5 hours to finally see a doctor. Overall a good place I would say the Nurses and doctors are kind and fast but the waiting is too much. Be sure to have your phone charger and a book to read

I’ve never been harassed over mask usage so many times in one place like this hospital. It seems to be their only concern, on top of being unhelpful.

Needs way more staff. Doctors act like they don't have a care in the world and will socialize knowing they have patients waiting. 6 hour wait time for an emerg is ridiculous! They have a rapid assessment center but its far from rapid. More like Next century assessment!

I can only say what they did for me and what they do I’d beyond amazing. If their standard could only be meet by others. I thank everyone involved in my cancer surgery and saving my life. I can’t even think the trouble ai put you through. Home now in fact today.

Disgusting treatment And very insensible.
Security guard and a Chinese doctor with nasty attitude literally arguing at 4 am in the morning.
These people are still using Covid as a result of their system failure. Unprofessional and don’t even know how to answer basic questions. Unfortunately this is what we get to deal with after paying thousands of dollars taxes.
And the one person visitor policy is so stupid and there is no reason to have this policy existing till now. Wake up there is no COVID anymore.

This place hires security to attack you if you dare take your mask off alone in a corner to catch your breath from respiratory health issues.and then wheel your limp body off after they screamed at you and crushed you into the wall, and then try to cover up your death instead of making things right. This is where our taxes go. I am terrified of ever actually needing to go to the hospital.

Wonderful hospital treated me like a human. That’s worried. Something happened to me since I got vaccinated. Trying to figure it out. But everything comes back normal. But it’s not for me. Had a couple events don’t know why. Anyways great hospital. That’s how you treat patients.

This is sad what I am reading regarding the patient losing their life to the security guards over a mask issue. And I'm seeing they got away with it too. I hope karma hits a homerun their direction. RIP Stephanie

The security guards here are unable to do a quality job. They use unreasonable force against the sickly. The half-a-man, Hutley has lied in court reports, saying he wouldn't have said what he said, if he knew there were cameras recording.
Rojas-Silva, another mentally weak guard also used asphyxiation to murder Stephanie Warriner. I absolutely do not feel safe having my family and friends sent here.
