Toronto Public Library - Fairview Branch

Loud library the kids center is in the middle of the library not even a designated space for them to be loud it’s literally in the middle it’s so loud and annoying no one respects the library to be quiet. I recommend bringing headphones ti block out the noise. The space isn’t big at all only three floors and such little space. No comfortable sofas or seating or lounge areas. Honestly very runned down it’s sad

By far the loudest library I have ever visited.
People will not be quiet. Even the staff were loud as hell.
The facility itself is great. The behavior on display by the patrons and staff were unreal. No etiquette.

Nice and easy to borrow the books. But I wish they had more latest books and had more collection.

One of the libraries with the best studying atmosphere I've ever seen. There are not a lot of loud kids, plenty of desks and tables, and a lot of places where you can isolate yourself and focus on studying. This library has helped me a lot when studying for exams difficult exams.

The theatre attached to this library is also very nice, with decent seating for the audience and decent stage/plays.

After a hard session of studying, you can also take a break by visiting the fairview mall, which has plenty of eateries and shops.

Great parking space, and connected to don mills station, making it easy to get here by public transportation.

Customer service was great. Didn’t stay long or experience the whole library as I was there for a short errand.

Visited while in the area as my daughter was looking for some Manga. Huge selection of Manga in the teen area, a smaller amount in the adult section, and minimal amount in the kids section, but definitely more than at our local libraries on Spadina and Yorkville Avenues. Large, clean, modernized library, lots of seating space, and helpfull staff.

Very clean and well organized space. Lot of working space. Large collection of all kind of books, however, best to put a hold on books to borrow in a timely manner.

Spacious, clean, quiet, good wifi, and close to Don Mills station. Perfect place to study or read.

Today is my third time to visit here just for printing a return label. I was very surprised the two workers there were very rude and unprofessional. And they don’t even have basic manners. It was around 6: 30pm evening shift. The other two times I visited there was in daytime. I would say daytime younger ladies are always very nice and helpful, knowledgeable, clear and professional. Tonight the two women were really performed like they never worked in the public service position. Today is Dec. 5th, 2022.

Very great place to study. Fast computers and quiet atmosphere. Spent the whole day there and was very focused! Lovely, however, the room was a little hot.

Good location, helpful stuff. Every where clean and we can find what we want for researching. It doesn’t matter for children or adults. Thank you for creating this wonderful places for people

This was remodeled and fully renovated a few years earlier. I cannot say anything but praise for this facility.

The staff are awesome, lot of space for the patrons to read, to meet and conference rooms. There is also a theater for performing Arts. The library also provides various services including help for employment, for new immigrants, for students of marginalized society, and after hours program for school children.

There are thousands and thousands of books and materials to browse and borrow. The library caters to multiple ethnicity in terms of materials for different languages.

It has a free parking and a ramp for physically challenged patrons as well.

Tania at the reception today was so helpful, cheerful, and professional. I enjoyed talking to her as she brought joy to my life. Will definitely visit again

I've called to ask a question about my holds and the person who has answered, has been very rude. Nobody is perfect, but rude behavior is never appropriate.

I happened to stumble on the Fairview Public Library while in the area for an extended period of time (thankfully given that it was hot day!). The library however is only open for pickups of 'On-Hold' items, drop-off of due items and the use of their computers for no longer than one hour. It looks like it is a rather large and spacious library but given this pandemic, the library has had to warden off a number of areas of the library to discourage staying in and just reading/studying/chilling, etc. Staff and security were helpful and supportive. If I find myself in the area again particularly when this pandemic is better managed and more facilities become open to the public again, I'll definitely come back!

My second favorite library. When north york toronto library was under renovation I started going here. Its not as huge as North York but its quite, near the subway, have meeting rooms and green rooms.love their study pods.

This is a great library great staff there always helpful to me and just like coming here great place. I recommend lost of people to come here.

Helpful staff. In this pandemic the library management is great. After placing the books on hold online, books are ready to be picked up withing 3-4 days.

Fairview library is big and clean with a large collection of literature for all ages. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is wifi and systems available for patrons

Power went out in my building and I'm WFH so it was chaos until I packed up and went to the Fairview branch. Security guard at the entrance has a clicker keeping track of capacity and now you cant eat or drink inside because you gotta keep your mask on at all times while inside. The WiFi was the best it's ever been and I was easily able to find a good socially distanced workspace on the 3rd floor, and I was able to load money onto my library card and print a bunch of stuff for work. SO AMAZING. I loved it. Thank you so much, Fairview branch public library!

First, Toronto Public Libraries generally are amazing according to my visit to many of them. Second, Fairview Library is the best I have seen because of its wide area including kids department. Lastly, It’s the best place for reading books for kids.

I came to visit this library one time in order to get a library card and there was a rude black lady in the reception. I'm a refugee and the librarian asked me to pay $120 and when I said that's a lot of money, she replied by saying "We aren't the United Nations". Later on, I discovered I can get a library card for free. I work and I pay my taxes. I just don't know why some people are like this. I used to love to go to the library.

Honestly, Im very upset and disturbed about the fact that i go to the library which is a place to read and study in peace but even if i go to the 3 rd floor which in my knowledge is supposed to be the quietest place i hear people talking out loud and guards walking by and saying nothing.like umm excuse me i came to the library to read in quietness or else i would have gone to a coffee shop or at home if i wished to hear other peoples conversations. The second problem is still the quietness but at the 2nd floor; i know theres a station for kids to read as well as play which is good for them and i know they can be a little loud and thats fine but this is a library not a kindergarten, im in the 3rd floor and my ears are going deaf from so much screaming like imagine how loud they are if i can hear them from a floor above. Parents should know that this is a library and they should keep a watch on their kids this is just literally a norm something which should be known to everyone. Another problem is the fact i see people leaving their food containers or bags after leaving the library. Like theres a trash bin in every floor and near the exits, it doesn't cost that much to take care of your own wastes. And something else as well which i consider a problem is sometimes the internet is very bad like i have to go change places where i sit be cause theres not a good connection. The only reason I'm giving 2 starts with all these problems though is the fact that theres a good BOOK SELECTIONS TO READ. That is all i had to say. I hope the staff can fix some of these problems which is not that hard to do seeing there's guards walking by and maybe you can put up some sign such as please be quiet, that may be able to help.

Superb library, the staff are helpful and very nice, there are many books, there are many places to sit down and relax, there also a youth lounge where you can go in and play some of the latest console games and use i pads and mac books, there are many fun programs to attend every month for free, there is also a very nice theater which produces quality shoes, there are also many nice computers, the only problem is sometimes computers don't work and are slow (rarely though) and the place should be more clean

Worst library I've ever been in. Always loud and weak internet connection. If you're going there to study for finals please do yourself a favor and go to a different library. What a disappointment!

I'm very concerned there are no stickers on the big windows, birds can be seriously hurt/killed because of this. Please look into this!

Happy to see the taxpayers money go to a place like that.

Fantastic place for huge variety of books and Best part is play area for children.
There is a security guard who also keeps an eye on kids.

Excellent library with great helpful staff. I print at this library often and most of the time the printers all work. Have a great variety of books, including a small section of books/movies in different languages. There are plenty of computers to work from and a few close door study rooms.

Full of inconsiderate people.
People go to quiet study rooms just to talk. Security announces be careful with your items all the time so lots of robbery l assume.
The library itself is not bad though.

Its good the workers ive seen are kind for example one time i was two week late for returning a book and i didn't have to pay

Kids section has a lot of things to okay with, including giant Legos, a scavenger hunt and computers for the older kids.

The library is in a good place (vicinity to a mall and many shopping options in neighborhood) and the staff are respectful and helpful. But the desks are not so clean and people using it don't care much about its cleanliness (pouring their coffee on desks,!).

We borrow kids books from this library all the time. Amazing collections of children books as well as children books in both traditional and simplified Chinese. The kids play area is great for toddlers and younger kids. This library also appears to be a popular gathering place for the community.

Great library! Staffs are very helpful! My kid loves it a lot and his reading skills get improved amazingly thanks to the library.

Saw a dead bedbug in one of the study rooms on the third floor. Notified the staff and hope they will do some professional bedbug spray to the premises

Very good library in a very convenient place. It is close to subway, Fairview mall and many stores. It has 10 study rooms on the third floor and teen and kids space located on second floor. Lots of computers, meeting rooms and study area. You can get free tickets for ROM, agha khan museum and some more locations on Saturdays. There is a line up though.
I gave 4 stars because there are not enough plugs near the study tables and many of them do not have plugs around.

Hugh library with lots of books to read and computers. Has activities and events for childrens. Closer to Fairview Mall.
