Met my girlfriend here for dinner food was very good waiter was a little impersonal. Didn't even bother to ask if we wanted dessert. Just brought the Bill and said the chocolate mints where like a dessert. For the money that spent I was disappointed if it weren't for the food I would not go back.

The food was delicious and looked very appetizing on our plate. The dessert was scrumptious. Our meal was worth every penny! The staff was very friendly. During our visit, we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere.

While visiting Barrie we decided to eat here to celebrate our anniversary and it was a great surprise and experience. Our server Graham was great and provided great suggestions. Thank you for a lovely evening and service.

Waitress was very good and attentive. Food was delicious. Enjoyed the hot garlic bread and pickle tray. It was my mother's birthday and they prepared Bananas Foster table side for us. It was such a nice surprise.

On Saturday, July 8, We enjoyed an amazing and delicious dinner at this restaurant. We were seated on the Victorian verandah of the century home behind. Even the outdoor tables have tablecloths.
We enjoyed the warm summer evening. Dean, our server, was friendly, entertaining and provided great service. He amazed us with a magic card trick. The olive/ pickle tray and sesame garlic toast were served immediately. The unique Saganaki appetizer of Kefalograviere cheese was fried and flamed for effect. The Greek salad was excellent with extra Feta cheese. The Salmon, Chicken and Steak dinners were nicely plated and ample portions. The dessert with sparkler.was appreciated for our Anniversary celebration. Town and Country Is “Keg” expensive but has more charm. This experience was nostalgia for me as this was my father’s Auto Parts store in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s
We will be back.

There was 4 of us on Thursday June 29th and after the incredible time I had at the end of January with my wife and daughter I couldn't stop talking about this place to our friends. Let's start by saying the inside was empty and with only 5 cars in the parking lot, they were not busy. The wine we wanted, the staff couldn't find (that should of been the sign to run) and at 275 a bottle, im surprised. The server was pleasant enough, but between her the the kitchen I don't know what was going on. One of us ordered the salmon with garlic mash and got mash with gravy. Gravy with fish? The French onion soup was also burnt. My wife and I got the date night special and asked for baked potatoes, we got mash with gravy. Our other friend asked for the rib steak and fries. After asking if they had gravy for the fries and was told no, he ordered peppercorn sauce, did I mention we got mash with gravy? The server repeated our order so I don't know what happened. The bread was 50% burnt, got charged for a second order, also half burnt, the olive tray looked like they just dumped everything from the jar as the amount of liquid was enough to fill a whiskey glass. I have to say the quality of meat is very good and the desert was incredible, but everything else was just shameful. This was a dinner to celebrate 2 birthdays and a 35 year anniversary. To end this, I understand that any place can have off days, but not to this extreme and not this steakhouse. We did have reservations booked for July 8 that we are now cancelling. I hope they improve everything, for future customers as the experience I had in January vs last week was a day and night difference. I wish I had taken pictures, but I think between the embarrassment that had our stomachs turning for hours and the shock, I just couldn't do it.

I never rate restaurants but after this experience, I definitely wanted to say something. We came in for a date night seeing that there was a Sunday prime rib special on their website. Walking in, the décor appeared very old school like prior to 2000's kind of restaurant. We quickly noticed that the menu is very old which hasn't been updated in quite a while. With their exorbitant prices on their menu, you would think they would be able to get something a bit nicer without the plasticky film covers. Menu aside, I asked two different waiters if they still had the Sunday prime rib special, to which they both replied, "yes we do have it. " Great! We proceeded to order it and the waiter suggested oysters as appetizers. We asked what they had and their price. The waiter kept on saying that it is fresh oysters and that they are great, emphasizing very fresh. I didn't get an answer for the price but its what my partner wanted to have so I didn't press on it. Oysters came and they were alright. A little bit smaller in size but you don't really expect too much honestly. We received very oily garlic bread which kind of made my partner a bit sick so we didn't eat too much of it. I had also ordered a French onion soup in which you would think that it would pretty hard to mess up, I stand corrected. What I received was French onion soup, of course, but I noticed that there was orange cheese mixed in with the white cheese on top. Definitely out of the norm but I tried it nonetheless. To our surprised, the cheese tasted similar to that of American processed cheese. My partner had a bit and some of the soup and then left it. I on the other hand was extremely hungry so I ate it regardless. Then the big disaster came which was the Sunday prime rib special. Take my advice and always be skeptical when a restaurant tried to smother their entire plate with a mountain of gravy. Gravy tasted great by the way, but the prime rib that we received was extremely tough and dry. Because of the huge amount of gravy slathered on it, I didn't realize the texture of the steak. My partner prefers not to eat saucy things and pushed the gravy to the side before cutting into the prime rib. Her first bit of the meat was extremely chalky and basically disintegrated into a mushy texture. After she told me, I did the same and tried it without the gravy. I also had the same textured meat that she did. Please note that my partner and I have both worked in professional kitchens and mean this quite literally. The meat tasted like it was taken right out of the freezer, out of its packaging and thawed by running it under water. We told the waiter what our experience was and he apologetically said that he will let the chef know and asked if we wanted it cooked over the grill instead. My partner lost her appetite completely but I wanted to give them a second chance. Maybe it would be better this time. We then received a grilled prime rib with the same chalky texture and called it quits right then and there. I asked for the bill and said that I did not want those dishes anymore. Here is what I ordered, half dozen of oysters, 1 French onion soup, and a bottle of water. The grand total of this bill was $45, to which $10 was to the bottle of water. Perhaps it was my fault for ordering a special that wasn't listed on their menu, but there are many discrepancies that can be seen between their actual menu and what is listed on their website. Honestly would give 0/5 but 1 star for that ridiculously huge pepper mill that made me laugh. Never coming here again.

We were there on Saturday March 11th and loved it! The service was phenomenal, the food was amazing! Definitely enjoyed the attention given by our waiter, we ordered the chateaubriand and it was cooked perfectly. Definitely would recommend!

It was our first time going. Every single thing we ordered was phenomenal. When you walk in, you are immediately smacked in the face with mouth watering aroma coming from the kitchen and greeted by a server who took our jackets. This was the first time in ages I have had calamari cooked to perfection, and served fresh and not frozen or freezer burnt. We also enjoyed a Greek salad. The salad dressing was made in house from scratch and it was very tasty. I did find that my salad had a little too much dressing for my liking, but that's my only complaint. We had the server bring us garlic loaf and a pickle tray (olives, pickles and roasted red peppers). We ordered the Ultimate platter. Our steak was cooked perfectly. Lobster and king crab legs were seasonded perfect. Vegetables on the side were so flavourful, the taste exploded in our mouths. As it was our anniversary the server made a table side dessert- a banana ice cream dish.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful and our server was amazing, very attentive.
I rate this place a 5/5 from our personal experience. If you want amazing food, good service and a comfortable cozy environment with a close family vibe from all staff, this is the place to go!

Had a wonderful date night with my husband. We enjoy travel and good eats and this gem is definitely worth the visit. Our server Mike was incredible. I find good customer service is hard to find these days. Mike was charming, polite, knowledgeable with the menu and very professional. On to the food, our steaks were perfectly cooked, the little details like an assorted tray for loaded potato was a nice surprise and the fried calamari was VERY Nice! You can tell that products are fresh. The atmosphere was romantic and quaint! Definitely visiting again!

One of my worst dining experiences in a long time. Insanely over priced (70$ for a single lobster tail!)
Caesar salad was mediocre and the wait for it was insane. Filet minion was alright, though not bacon wrapped. Lobster tail and mashed potatoes weren’t good at all. My Significant others steak Neptune was almost cold and not good at all. Server was friendly enough I suppose, though made a few mistakes and hovered over my shoulder while paying. First and last time I’ll ever go here.
66$ at the keg will get you a filet minion, lobster tail and mashed potatoes that are a million times better then the 125$ I was charged for the same items. Beyond disappointing.

Food was delicious. Staff were incredibly friendly and delightful. They had some fun dishes that are prepared table side.
Steak dinners came with either potatoes OR veggies which was odd. As you would expect at a steak restaurant, it is pricey. Decor is dated, but that doesn’t affect your meal. It’s not loud, which was FANTASTIC for our party of 8. We could all sit at one table and have a single conversation!

Wonderful dinner, great atmosphere, and kind service. Very pleased with the quality of my meal and valued the experience.

My boyfriend and I frequent this restaurant. Pre Covid, during Covid, excellent as always! Awesome food and service.
Decided to go for dinner last night, we both ordered the Cesar salad and salmon. What a disappointment. The Cesar salad was a smaller portion along with the pickle tray. Then dinner came…. An even bigger disappointment…. The salmon was so tiny from what it used to be and the vegetables… literally one piece of asparagus, one piece of broccoli, 4 pieces cut carrots and 4 tiny brussel sprouts, and 2 strips red pepper. I know prices have gone up, “shrinkflation”, but the food was a shocking change, not for the better.
Love the staff but the food has gone WAY downhill. Not worth it anymore.

This evening we had a fantastic family dinner on the patio. We needed a beautiful venue for our daughter and her fiancé. The kitchen was able to accommodate everyone’s dietary needs. Service was absolutely top notch! I would highly recommend this locally owned, Family restaurant!

Sorry but it's not worth the money. We were looking forward to a nice steak dinner with the kids, sadly we were disappointed.

We opted to sit outside because it was a nice night. But when you sit outside you literally have to walk through the parking lot to get to a table.

Service was not very good unfortunately, and the steak which was ordered Chicago med was over cooked and no char.

Looks like the keg in Barrie is the only option for a good steak. So sad.

Had the BOGO Smash burgers and they were amazing! If you are looking for a real burger, this is the place to go!

Food was amazing! The patio was very romantic and the staff was very attentive. We will definitely be returning! The green salad and calamari were gone too fast to get pictures of but was amazing as well. Pricey but worth it for the atmosphere; can’t wait to try more things on the menu.

Just finished eating here, everything seemed lovely until I got the bill. You would figure when you order 2 appetizers and 1 entree (the surf and turf for 2) and you bill comes to 400 dollars the quality of the food would match up but it really does not. The steaks were over cooked to order (we asked medium rare they came out well done) the lobster in my personal lobster tail incredibly chewy and over cooked finally the side mashed potatoes were portioned for a small child and calling them mashed potatoes would be a overstatement. Very disappointed will likely never return. Restaurants was asking alot from the public during the last few years to get threw it together, and this experience reminded me why I should just cook at home.

My wife Anne and I went to this place on Saturday night. The food was amazing. Anne had the salmon and I the tenderloin. The shrimp cocktail was huge, the menu did not lie when it said it was the biggest. More than the food was how great the service was, from the hostess to the servers. The decor was the way a steakhouse should be set.

We had a great experience on Saturday night. 3 of has dinner and we have been looking for a steakhouse here in Barrie and we found our new place. Town and Country is the perfect classic steakhouse with great service and all the accoutrements. Our meal was perfect we all enjoyed our steaks and all were cooked perfect. We can't wait to return in the very near future.

This was the perfect place to have an anniversary dinner, we enjoyed quality of the stakes with their cozy atmosphere. We ordered Half Pound New York and Top Sirloin (centre cut) that included a variety of sides options.

Great food, incredible service. A little pricey, but great for that once in a while date night.

A fantastic restaurant. Pepper & olive tray is amaizing. The house salad dressing is to die for. Oh and the saganaki so good. You really can't go wrong here.

This place was amazing! Yeah so the chairs were a bit wobbly so what! That’s not what you to a high end steakhouse for. The service was bar none the best of any restaurant ever. The appetizers were amazing the food was awesome. Overall a 5 star experience. Would definitely recommend to anybody!

Omgoodness, this place is incredible!
My husband and I have eaten here twice now and we are hooked. One we have tale out, then the other day we dined in. Absolute perfection both times! Highly, highly recommend!

We had a reservation for 5: 30pm, the restaurant patio was still quite empty but no one greeted us. There was some confusion about our reservation, the staff seemed "scattered brained". Although they seemed friendly this type of service continued for the entire duration of our dinner. It was very difficult to locate our server, again, although he was nice and friendly once we had his attention, he was very distracted. It took and hour to get drinks and appetizers, it took 30 mins to get the bill. It felt like he kept forgetting about us. The food was cooked well but bland. My steak literally tasted just like simple steak. Nothing extraordinary. My mom had the ribs and they were tasty because they had a BBQ sauce.

ALLERGY ALERT!
Tonight we came in for dinner for 6 at 4: 30. This has been my favorite place for special dinners for the last 10 years. When ordering, we explained to the maitre d that my husband had a lobster allergy as the last time we went he had illness due to cross contamination. It took me a long time to convince him to come there again and that we just had to inform them when ordering. We have in the past ordered the ultimate platter for 2 several times without issue before the last time. When our food arrived, although the crab was served separately, his steak was on the platter with the lobster in the juices. I immediately informed him that he would not be able to eat it. He took the steak and said he would get a new one. In hindsight, we realized that his steak returned within a few minutes, less time than it would take to recook a medium steak. At 9: 30 my husband started feeling ill and shortly after has been throwing up and diarrhea. It is going to be a very long night for him. I am just glad that his allergy isn't so severe as to put him into shock, but we never know what degree it will hit and 1 of these times it might. It is our belief that the original steak was just lightly thrown back on the grill and then back to our table. I am hoping that management will see this review and investigate this situation that happened. Hopefully it does not happen to anyone else. I would have called them tonight, but they are already closed.

After posting this review and also forwarding a copy directly to the restaurant, I was very happy to receive a response directly from the owner/manager, Steve, before morning. We spoke directly on the phone the following evening. We had a really good conversation about what may have happened. Although we are unsure of the exact way it happened, (we believe there was a communication error as to what the allergy was) he was very apologetic about this and stated that he had thoroughly communicated with his staff in front and back concerning this issue and about ensuring that the proper protocols be followed when allergies are presented to make sure that all customers feel confident that all is done to ensure their enjoyment in their experience dining there. I am very satisfied with the outcome of our conversation, and although it may take a little more convincing to get my husband to return with me again. I will still return regularly, as it has been my favorite place for a long time.

The only reason I am not changing my stars is so that others with allergy concerns will read this in whole to see that they can be confident in going there.

One of fav dining places. Travelled 3 1/2 hrs for a special meal. Celebrated a 90th Birthday couldn't think of a better place and meal. Instead of the traditional cake had the banana flambe. Coffee and port ended the meal perfectly. Birthday boy was thrilled

Went to this place Thursday before Good Friday. Waiter was ok the portions were large. Onion rings were huge. Pickle plate was great and endless. Sagonaki was ok. Rack of Lamb was excellent but took a very long time to arrive. Medium rare like I asked. The price was higher than most places and the decor was dark and dated. Did not mind being called "Boss" instead of "sir. " Half litre of wine was better than expected. Not sure why so many complaints listed on this site, but it was dead when I was in there. Its not Barbarians which is the best steakhouse around but cheaper and closer. Now I want to go to Barbarians!

Ordered the porterhouse medium rare. 2 hrs later got a rare steak. Couldnt stand the idea of waiting longer so just ate it anyway.

The best restaurant in barrie steaks are fantastic only place I know of in Barrie thats serves saginaki great service cant say enough good things about it

Went for dinner at this restaurant yesterday. I have eaten here many times over the years and have usually been quite pleased with the food and service. But things have changed for the worst since my last dining experience at Town & Country.

I ordered a Greek Salad yesterday evening and requested that a filet of salmon accompany it. My server said no problem. Food was tasty. But the bill give me heartburn!

They charged me $8.00 for the pickle and bread tray that is supposed to accompany the dinner entree as part of the meal price. Waitor claimed my lettuce leaves were essentially more expensive then the vegetables and potatoes that accompany the usual salmon entree dish for only $28.00. So he claimed "I had to do something" which was his excuse for billing me that 8 bucks.

By the way - the salmon that was placed on my salad this past evening was a visibly smaller portion size, than what I have eaten when I have ordered the salmon dinner on numerous occasions over the years! I think I received the lunch portion size of salmon - not their usual dinner sized portion!

The owners should really consider doing something to rehabilitate the very dated, dark and super tacky decor of their restaurant.

This used to be a very classy place to dine in Barrie. But it's going down hill fast! Prices are high for the portions you get on the plate. Food is tasty - BUT! Get real guys!

I don't think I want to return to this restaurant to eat ever again! Waitor was highly defensive in his tone when I politely questioned him about how he determined my final bill price. He was visibly miffed when my friend and I did not order alcoholic drinks for dinner. Guess my decaf coffee doesn't drive up the tab in a way he would like for a higher tip. (Too bad eh!). Coffee was very watery too. Should be a simple thing to make!

Lots of places in town to eat - with sensible prices, attractive decor and less attitude! Consider all of your options before you plunk yourself down at this joint!

This has been a staple restaurant for our family for over 25 years. However recently we went and the food was terrible and the service worse. Must have changed owners. Lost a good customer.

Revisited restaurant last night with a disappointing outcome. We were overcharged for food that would have been "sides" in every other restaurant. And waiter became defensive when questioned why the extra charges. I'm noticing a lot of negative reviews about this place. We won't return.
