I had an amazing experience at Trent University in my master degree. The campus is very beautiful, the faculty is dedicated and supportive, and the diverse range of programs provides excellent opportunities for personal and academic growth. The sense of community is strong, and the facilities are top-notch. I highly recommend Trent to anyone seeking a vibrant and enriching educational journey. Five stars without a doubt! "

I spent 6 months at Trent and it was, without exaggeration, the worst 6 months of my life. I don’t know what the hell everyone else is talking about when they praise this school, maybe they’re just inexperienced as to what a university should be, but Trent is ABYSMAL.
I moved to Trent fresh out of high school and lived in the Otonabee dorms. The dorms at Trent are AWFUL. If there’s anything you take from my review, it should be that LIVING IN A TRENT DORM IS A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE. The entire building is made of cinderblock and the inside is painted a painful shade of blue, everything including the stairs and rooms themselves is made of concrete or metal. If you live in Otonabee like I did, you cannot do much of anything (even using the bathroom) without doing at least one flight of stairs; to get from my room to class, I had to walk down 3 flights of stairs, then up a massive flight of stairs between the mail room and main entrance, then down another flight into the cafeteria entrance, and then down one more flight to get to the main lecture hall. I am a fit person, I could make this walk every day, but I am also small, and carrying groceries and jugs of water on this path was exhausting. It goes without saying that this school is NOT accessible despite any claims (the few elevators they have break every other week too).
The amenities are also less than bare minimum. You will be sharing one bathroom with 2 stalls and 2 gross showers with THREE FLOORS OF PEOPLE, if I had to estimate, I’d say that’s about 60 people (24 rooms on the first and third floor X two people each + 12 rooms on the second floor with one person each) in total, so around 30 people per gender using the same bathroom. There is no “kitchen” despite what may have been advertised to you. There is a microwave and a toaster oven if you’re willing to walk down the stairs for it. Your room will not have its own sink, fridge, microwave, etc.unless you bring it yourself; my roommate and I were forced to purchase a massive water jug with a spout and a Tupperware bin just so we had water to drink and a spot for dirty dishes. These rooms are SMALL, and unless you’re willing to cough up an extra $900 to live in Gzowski, they are sweltering hot (up to 28c on our thermostat) because there is no air conditioning. The food is absolutely awful and overpriced despite what their website says.

Now to my absolute worst Trent experience: mold. Black mold. The buildings at Trent (with the exception of Gzowski) are old and water damaged, THE MAIN LECTURE HALL HAS A LEAKING ROOF AND STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SIT IN CERTAIN ROWS. The dorms also have black mold, which was NOT disclosed to me; I tried my best to continue with my studies but I became so violently ill from the mold infesting our dorm that my mother had to FLY IN FROM MY HOME PROVINCE AND FLY ME HOME TO THE HOSPITAL HALFWAY THROUGH MY SECOND SEMESTER. I could barely wake up in the morning, even when I had a steady supply of energy drinks all day, I threw up randomly all the time including in the middle of a psychology lecture, I could barely eat and lost 13 pounds in the last 2 or so months of my stay, and worst of all, I started experiencing black mold psychosis symptoms. PSYCHOSIS. FROM THE MOLD IN MY DORM. I felt like I was going crazy, I thought that flickering lights were Morse code and that soap dispensers could talk, I thought there were bugs under my skin and that my smoke detector was the eye of God. I’d sue Trent if I could, believe me, but they’ve already exempted themselves from responsibility for illness contracted through a dorm because they made me sign a LIABILITY WAIVER ACKNOWLEDGING THAT OTONABEE WAS FILLED WITH ASBESTOS.
THEY ARE LYING TO YOU ON THE WEBSITE. THIS SCHOOL IS NOT LIVEABLE AND DOES NOT CONTAIN THE FACILITIES IT CLAIMS TO. SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND MONEY AND PICK SOMETHING BETTER.

Best primarily undergraduate univ. In Ontario. I had an excellent experience there both for undergrad and masters science programs. Smaller class sizes and very caring and supportive professors and staff.

Devastated to see such blatant disregard for the environment! We arrived, in May, to find industrial mowers clearing the grounds of dandelions. You could almost hear the bees being crunched up! If you must mow (you don't), at least wait until the pollinators have flown. Seriously, they need help.give the bees a chance!

I've been studying here for past 4 months. Campus and faculties are amazing. But the AMOD program in Data Analytics is not that good. I won't recommend as the courses designed do not provide adequate learning and neither is facility supportive.

I thought education here would better than in my home country, but I was wrong.

Trent University is a great choice for those who did not make the grade for more prestigious institutions or are starting over again. For those who strive for academic excellence, Trent University faculty provide world class instruction that prepares students for future academic work or careers after graduation.

The only drawbacks is its location and the long, dark winters. If you can overcome these minor drawbacks, Trent University may be right for you.

The gentleman who dealt with my call this morning regarding my daughter's application. Was so understanding and helpful. Now fingers crossed it all works out for my daughter. Her heart is set for Trent.

Trent University has a beautiful campus surrounded by nature and it is even nicer in the fall. I have had a good experience at this school, however, I wish they sent more information over email about clubs and so on to make it more accessible to students who are unaware, as well as events on campus. For profs I have had a mix of good and bad, some teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable and sometimes others not so much, but it is usually like that at any school you attend. There is a wide variety of options for classes and I would recommend this school to others. For living on campus I would recommend either the annex’s or Gzowski college for the best experience!

Glad to be leaving this school along with many friends. Computer Science is rigged at this school.department wants you to take "science credits " and its 14.0 credits (0.5 per each course). Probably gonna go to a better school like york or brock. Also I dont understand why theres an indigenous requirement.

Having the best experience of my life at Trent right now in my third year. One of the best universities and orientation weeks in the country in my opinion. The professors and the facilities are certainly top notch and students like me are the most engaged of any university which has a progressive culture rooted in advocacy and activism fighting for Indigenous rights, student success, food insecurity, housing affordability and social justice issues as well. I have a positive perspective on the Indigenous course requirement and since I have seen nothing but great things about STEAM students succeeding in these courses from professors, college principals, and from themselves, let’s clear things up a bit! The ICR is meant to give students CHOICES, OPTIONS, ALTERNATIVES, and FLEXIBILITY in what courses to take if a student does not want to face the big research project (Homelands Assignment) that is the main assignment in INDG 1001 which is intense work for any science and math students whose strength is thinking logically through labs and seeing things through a microscopic lens. To combat the stereotypes of the Indigenous Course Requirement being dumbed down, nope it is not a repeat of the mandatory high school “Indigenous Literature” course that you were forced to take in Grade 11. Instead, these courses encourage you to think broadly about Indigenous issues, have a greater appreciation of them, learn how to have a diverse worldview that is not Eurocentric, and expand your horizons a bit on a wide variety of Indigenous issues, not just Indigenous literature. That might include truth and Reconciliation, treaties, being exposed to Indigenous peoples around the world, and in the city as well. For these STEAM students who believe that they do not to learn about Indigenous Knowledge and believe in a one-eyed lens, nope you are wrong - in the real world, you are committing an offence of not consulting with Indigenous people and listening actively and deeply with empathy with their concerns of putting a mine in Northern Ontario, being dismissed for not having a heart attack, instead being discharged and sent home so they can suffer from their longstanding illness from intergenerational trauma or being experimented with improper chemicals and medicine and not being racially sensitive to their needs and consulting with them first about how to best to undergo the research study without causing longstanding harm to Urban Indigenous people who have gone through a lot in their lives like poverty, drug addictions, being exposed to residential schools, low expectations in the education system, obesity, and diabetes as well. You need to learn concepts like Two-Eyed Seeing, Indigenous Enivronmental Knowledge, be immersed in Indigenous culture, how to pursue your role in the truth and reconciliation process, and most importantly, how to assist Indigenous people just by being in their shoes and give that beautiful gift that is called assistance. The Indigenous Course Requirement teaches ALL students how to be good and moral human beings while trying to understand how to contribute to the reconciliation process that is the new reality on Turtle Island at the moment. It’s that simple

Most of the faculty is considerable to students. More good profs than bad profs. I love how they are expanding their online courses. Need a better food court system. Scrap useless requirements like the indigenous one. They should consider expanding the durham campus too. Also 8am exams too early

My alma mater and still one of the best riverside campuses of any Canadian university. The teaching was inspired and the warmth of a smaller population were its trademarks.

Obviously these people are in Trudeaus pocket. Everybody has the right to vax or not, most schools are doing what's right and allowing individuals to make their own choices, its law. BUT no, this school is trying to take control, stay far away from this tyranny school, don't support their lies and brain washing.

I loved my time at Trent, the campus is beautiful especially in the summer. As a grad I can speak to the quality of my experience. I love everything about this place, just walking the grounds is beautiful.

Good school but nothing in life is guaranteed. And from what I've seen, no company truthfully practices sustainability. Only go to school if you're ultra wealthy and have a lot of time on your hands. I wish I went to the military or learned a trade after high school, maybe computer programming.

It's a pretty penny to spend 10 years of your life working, only to end up in the same place from where you started. I never made more than $40,000 a year and most of it was contract work.and to top it off, I worked in finance.

Stop trying to silence people for your inconsiderate mandatory Indigenous course requirement.
We can show respect for Indigenous people in other ways rather than forcing people to write SJW essays.
Professors don't even open course evaluation for these courses.
Yuck.

Took my daughter to visit and tour the university as she wishes to go there, it's a very large campus as well as an amazing university; the tour was a success and give diversity plus knowledge on the university to welcome new students.

Horrible experience at the Peterborough University. Housing is absolutely terrible as they charged me with damages that came with the dorm I moved into already. Stole my stuff that I left in a friend's dorm such as clothes, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and an Alexa. They then lied about taking it and charged her for it. The food is very repetitive and not very high quality. Would not recommend living on campus. 0/10.

Trent has one of the best professor I have ever had in my life (she is in the biology department), but Trent also has some not-so-great professors who did not have any university teaching experiences. Some senior professors in my program recently retired including the dean of the department, and it seems like Trent is having difficulty hiring qualified individuals because the new dean is from a completely different specialty who has no experiences in my specialty at all (and according to some of my peers, he has been very unprofessional and even rolled his eyes on the needs of the students during a meeting). If my friends ask me whether or not Trent is good, I don't know what to answer because saying bad things about my school does not do anything good to me, but I could not forget some of the bad experiences that I had.

Worst to worst stuff no respect doesn’t reply to the emailed for 2 weeks and then reply with a short reply and staff isn’t working and picks up the call and just transfer to others on random basis worst university ever seeen in my life.

Trent University Campus. One of the best University in Ontario. The place is so mesmerizing that you will not feel like you are in a educational institution. I think its a very good place to visit during fall.
