True History Brewing

I have only gone here for the can/bottle shop, but it's an amazing source for Czech and German lagers. These styles of beers are difficult to get reliably and this fresh anywhere else for me. As a beer nerd I am very grateful. Also glad they stock (also excellent) non-beer options for the non-beer nerd people in beer nerds' lives.

First of all, the beer was excellent. Had the Munich style Dunkel - so rich and creamy. They did a beautiful job with the reno. Super pleasant, cozy and casual - quiet enough to have a conversation with the people you're out with, which is rarer than it should be. Can't comment on food because the kitchen was closed, but either way, it's a great place to go have a drink without having to fork out money for a whole dinner.

Im all for supporting small businesses in my area. I came in the first time for a beer. Very good tasting. Had to leave quick. Second time i was standing outside on the sidewalk, I was finishing the last part of my cigar, when a server with a backward hat on his head, limp bizkit style, came out and not asked but demanded i move away. I dont recommend servers talking this way to customers or to people generally. Manners do come first. Wont visit this place unless the guy or management apologizes. The server is tall filled with tatoos. Anyways thumbs down.

Very rude service. With so many craft breweries to choose from you can't have that.it's very easy to go somewhere else. Like Blood Brothers.

Delightfully different yet somehow familiar. You’ll find some excellent brews here in particular some outstanding German styles. Family friendly and comfortable. Great for a weekend afternoon with friends.

Four of us who live in the neighbourhood, went to True History Brewing on a Saturday afternoon (March 11).

The beer is fine, but forget about eating there. $36 for a small charcuterie and cheese plate and $6 for five slices of bread? ! The six or so thin slices of salami and prosciutto wasn't even enough for one person, let alone the four of us. And the waiter knew it was for the whole table, but he didn't warn us it would be so little.and the bread? It should have been a comp.

I strongly recommend eating elsewhere before or after you get there.

Great beers. I tried two and they didn’t taste like burn hair like most micro brews. They were really really good. I always loved the Arrested Development reference in one of the beers names.
The food options seemed good, until we spent $16 on a few potatoes that were not crispy as stated in the name and lacked any flavour. I’m not sure how you can offer a few food options and put limited effort into them.

I’ll probably go back for beers, but stay clear of the food for now.

Classic European beers served the right way, in a mini stein with plenty of foam to keep it fresh all the way down. No tropical mango IPA (9%) here.

Welcoming atmosphere at this new neighbourhood brew/pub. Great beer accompanied with a nice selection of light bites. Found the service to be very personable. Looking forward to when the patio opens!

What a breath of fresh air this place is! Love the German beer hall tables, great for big groups. Extra points for keeping the alcohol content down on their craft beer. The only change id like to see is more substantial shareable food. Sausage plate?

Amazing atmosphere and beer! A real neighborhood gem by also well worth the drive. The food was also excellent. Can’t wait to go back again! A very welcome addition to the Toronto brew pub scene!

Clean, well equipped, centrally located with helpful, knowledgeable staff. A great place to drop in for a drink or to hang out watching the sights of St Clair wander by. Kind of an oasis on his part of the strip.

Finally a legit neighborhood brewery! Great pilsner (it comes in 0.5L too which is a W), good food program, and excellent service. The inside is very spacious and is great for groups and young families.

Great addition to the Toronto brew pub scene. Their beers are great. Pilsners on the side pour. Can't best that. Their patio is still being constructed but its going to be awesome. Didn't have any food.

Really great beer (about time Toronto gets a proper German Pilsner!) and delicious food. The service was super attentive as well. Patio is still being built which will significantly expand the seating when that gets finished. I’m deducting a star due to poor acoustics / noise levels though, as I could barely talk to my wife who was seated 2 feet away from me. 85-95db in there on a Friday evening FYI - my tinnitus did not like that. But the beer and food was so good that I’d gladly return, possibly to the patio.
