Turtledoves Bakery

I have been a Turtle Dove's customer for over 10 years and the original owners even did our wedding cake, which was absolutely delicious.

I don't like leaving bad reviews but I felt if I don't, there is no way to improve.

I ordered a couple of pumpkin pies for the holiday season as I've been doing for a few years. This year I discovered that Turtle Dove's moved location, and is under new ownership. I had no idea until I went to pick up my order.

The service and environment seemed good to me, no issues there, other than naturally just missing the previous owners and atmosphere, that I've known and seen for years.

My concern came in with the pumpkin pies themselves. Unfortunately, the pies tasted nothing like prior years. They were very bitter and tangy in taste. I literally could not bring myself to eat them, nor anyone in my family. Even dousing them in enough
whip cream to give me diabetes could not get rid of the bad taste. I threw both whole pies into the garbage along with the $36 they cost me.

I ordered them just over a week in advance for the holidays as I knew it would be busy during the season. I don't know if the pies were literally made when I ordered them and sat there for over a week going bad, or what the case was, but they were not good.

Based on my experience, I'm going to have to find another GF place for pumpkin pies it seems. The delicious and sweet pumpkin pies appear to have departed with the previous owners. Hopefully the new ownership can bring the delicious and sweet taste back, but it'll be a while before I can wash the taste out of my mouth.

Have been a customer on and off since Turtledoves opened. Was in for Cinnamon raisin bread and my Christmas fruit cake. Definitely missed the original owners who were always friendly and greeted you. Definitely different now hope they can improve.

Amazing place! Its hard finding good bakery items that are gluten free! Just wished you stayed opened longer.

Today for the first ever my wife and I decided to stop in on your business and buy some bread. Your shop is very nice inside. As i stood in front of a wall of bread I picked up a loaf to see what kind it was. A gentleman from the back of the store came wearing hair net and an apron I believe him to be your baker. His customer service skills are absolutely terrible he was abrupt and unpleasant. The two lovely ladies behind the cash were fantastic they smiled he did not they were helpful he was not they know what customer service is but he does not. The bread and muffins and all that I purchased are very good but bad customer service leaves a bad taste in my mouth that lasts a long time.

Drove a half hour to get there only to be told they might be open tomorrow, notwithstanding what shows online. No way to attract new business.

Update! New location!

Great new space east of King road, still on Plains road. Much more spacious retail area, loads more parking, same amazing GF baked goods.

Turtledoves bread is so fantastic that my mother prefers it to anything she gets from her go-to shop in London. I've been delivering Turtledoves cheese bread to London for years. Such a friendly welcoming place. The shop is very happy to accept pre-orders by phone which I am always sure to do because the cheese bread is greatly in demand.

Breads and muffins are great but cakes are in the past recipes of dark dense and feeling under cooked. The vanilla should have a nice white colour and fluffy texture. I make better at home having had perfected for my celiac daughter. Just hopes for the convenience for a change. Sorry was not impressed and would not return.

Decided to get gluten free bread to help with some dietary issues. Purchased the multi grain.what a wonderfully nutty tasting bread. Did not hv high expectations, but pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be switching to gluten free land highly recommend this bakery.

Having food restrictions can be pretty tough. There is an amazing assortment of delicious foods. I often offer them to those who can have gluten and they don’t know the difference!

My mother, sister and I went to this bakery after visiting the shop next door. I purchased two Nanaimo bars, my mom a meat pie, and small pie, my sister brownies. We all commented after our eating the items that they were all the worst tasting items we had from a bakery. I don’t recommend. Very disappointed.

Great tasting 100% gluten free bakery, serving staple breads, buns, baguettes, and delicious baked goods/ pastries, cakes, cupcakes, muffins. They even have soups, Jamaican patties, sausage rolls for a quick lunch.

Turtledoves made our delicious gluten free butter tarts for our wedding favours! They were so yummy! Thanks Turtledoves!
