I won't let anyone else work with my hair r. Stephanie has been cutting my hair for about 4 years and I've never looked back. I have thick curly hair and when I go to generic haircut shops, they are shocked and confused and troubled by my hair. They don't understand. Steph understands! Entire staff, 10/10

Had hair done by Maddy. Told her I wear my hair in ponytail every day for work. Wanted layers. The cut itself is likely ok, but for styling, she asked if I wanted it blown out or natural. I said natural. She put eff tonnes of creme in my hair and then half dried with a diffuser. That wasn't good enough apparently, so she needed to use a curling iron. Not sure what's natural about using a curling iron. Also, could hear my hair literally frying with the heat as she didn't fully dry it. I mean, I might have appreciated this On a Saturday morning and I wanted to look good for the day, but on a Thursday at 6 pm when I'm going to bed soon and throwing a ponytail in in the morning, why are you wasting my time and the salons products? I also mentioned that I dislike when stylists do this to show how great the cut looks with all this extra effort that I'm never going to put in myself. Also, would have appreciated it more if I didn't have to wash my hair in the morning, which is the only thing I love forward to with getting my hair cut, but with the pounds of product she used, that perk wasn't there either. Also, wasn't offered a drink, when every other client there was offered something from their stylists. Should have went to first choice

UBU has been my go to salon for years, Stephanie is amazing! She always makes my hair look exactly how I want, I always leave feeling beautiful and full of confidence. My hair is my security blanket and Stephanie is the only stylist I trust with it. I recommend her if you've never been here before, her skills and professionality are out of this world! I just recently did a balayage, and I love the way it turned out! Stephanie always exceeds my expectations!

I had my hair styled by Brima for my son’s wedding. I had never been to this salon as I’m from out of town but I couldn’t have felt more welcome! Brima has the experience and know how to quickly assess your hair. She offers suggestions but also ensures you are thoroughly happy with the styling as she does it. I highly recommend this top notch, friendly and professional salon!

I went To see Stephanie yesterday we instantly hit it off. The whole salon is amazing, friendly and welcoming. Definitely my new salin and stylist. Loved it!

I have been seeing Steph at UBU for more almost 10 years now, she has been the only one to touch the colour of my hair and the only one I have let cut my hair since my first appointment with her. With it being my first appointment at UBU, I was beyond impressed. Not only with their customer service, but with their work as well! Stephanie did an incredible job giving me the colour I wanted. Absolutely fantastic first experience here! I had originally booked an appointment for 8: 30, but I called to confirm the time and they were able actually able to bump me up to 8am. My appointment was with Mario, and he was super friendly, chatty and my cut ended up even better than I had imagined. My appointment was to fix some messed up bangs, and to get my split ends trimmed. He gave me beautiful side layers for the fix and the rest of my hair has NEVER looked better! On top of the great cut, the salon itself is clean and stylish. They also have a coffee bar so you can sip a latte while getting your hair done! For all that service, the price was incredibly reasonable too. 10/10 experience, will definitely be back! I had a friend text me this morning. She is a hijabi woman hoping to get a trim but of course, for her religion, no men can be present for her appointment. She called the store where they first said that they would accommodate for her and she was thrilled. She then received a call back, I believe from another person, saying they can no longer accommodate because the owner is a man. Can he not be present for 30 minutes to an hour or try to fit her in when he does not work? To me, I found it rude but I do understand not everyone can accommodate every person but I wish she was able to get her appointment and did not have to travel far.

I had the beautiful opportunity to experience Stephanie's magic for my most recent cut at UBU Hair, a salon through which you deeply feel that you are a valued customer, leaving pampered and fulfilled. Stephanie's energy is contagious, sweeping you up in delightful conversation and mutually swapping stories. The artisan passion she has for doing hair is evident by the enthusiasm with which she shared details of how she was doing my haircut and why, for my understanding and curiosity. Stephanie took her time throughout the entire process to get a clear sense of the cut I wanted and to execute it with care. The result left me shining with joy and beauty. Thank you Stephanie! I'm already excited for my next haircut. Also, PS - the head massages given during the hair wash are the most deliciously luxurious I've ever experienced. I'd go to the salon for this service alone!

Stephanie made me feel like a queen… she put violet peekaboo highlights in my hair and I love how it looks. They serve you latte’s and biscotti. They give you a wonderful head and neck massage and it’s so beautiful in the salon too. I highly recommend Stephanie and this salon:)

This place is amazing. It’s my go to and I am so comfortable with Stephanie and Chelsea (Please excuse me if I am misspelling the name). They are amazing, and it is such a personal experience that feels special and your hair being taken care of. It is a highly recommended hair salon and I do not see myself going anywhere else. I blindly trust them and their amazing work they do. ️

I went to Brima for the first time last week. It is the absolute best cut / colour I have had. I have short, pixie hair. Brima did an amazing job!

The service I asked they didn’t provided and when I questioned back they forcefully moove me out and didn’t even returned my money worst service I ever had

UBU Hair is my new hair salon.

Staff are fantastic! I always feel very welcomed and like I am their most important client. Missing their amazing espresso bar due to the pandemic. Safety measure are well established. Every hairstylist I have had, listen very attentively to my hair styling wishes - from root touch-ups to a full dramatic cut and balayage, I have never left unhappy with the results.

Came home completely gutted and extremely disappointed. Brima cut my hair so badly that I had to call her to let her know how disappointed I was with my service and the fact they charged me a recycling fee of 3 dollars. I was not informed of when I called to inquire about the cost of the haircut. I showed her pictures and got nothing like the photos I showed her. She took the clippers and shaved right up the sides of my head. I looked like a man when I left. As for the recycling fee for PPE. I was not offered PPE of any kind. When I did call her to voice my dissatisfaction for the haircut I received she basically told my sorry you feel like that I thought I gave you a good haircut. That was all no remorse of option to rectify the situation. RIP OFF AND SO NOT PROFESSIONAL

Mario and the rest of the staff treated me like royalty from the moment I entered. Gracious, polite, fabulous cut and style. I am sincerely impressed.right down to holding my coat for me.

I’ve been going to UBU for a couple of years now, and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone! Paula is amazing, she always takes the time to listen to what you want or help you decide if you’re unsure, and she’s incredibly talented!

I’m always so excited to go get my hair done, because I know that Paula and the whole staff are really friendly, respectful, always helpful and everyone contributes to the great energy of the shop! It’s also a relief knowing that the shop is clean and safe (staff are continually cleaning throughout the day) and that they’re following the safety guidelines to keep you and your family safe.

The stylists engage with you, they’re friendly and genuinely listen- I know because Paula will follow up with me on what we talked about last time! You don’t find that everywhere, most places are very hectic and any conversation is superficial in nature.

UBU is run so well and professionally that I can always relax, vs the place I used to go in Masonville Mall (in London, ON) where I might have 3 or 4 people work on my hair over the course of my appointment- you start with who you wanted to do you hair, but she’s be off doing other customers when I’d need my foils checked, so someone else would check and someone else would wash the dye out. Just insane!

I’m so happy I found UBU, it’s honestly such a relief to have a consistent place and person that I know I can trust with my hair to make it look great, but prioritize the health of my hair as well!

I booked an appointment with Brima for a color and cut. I showed her reference photos and we discussed what we were going to do with my hair; she explained the process and gave her thoughts. I love how my hair turned out! She made sure every step of the way that I liked how it was looking and checked that we were on the same page. I would definitely recommend this salon for anybody. The back of my hair is all different lengths and it’s not even straight. I won’t even call them in an attempt to fix it. The only choice I have is to let it grow out now.

I have been going to UBU for years! I don’t trust anyone else with my hair! The staff is so welcoming and talented. I have very thick and almost untameable hair but Mario is the only person I trust to cut it - he knows how to deal with it. I just had the hair cut done from them. Its so nice. I just loved it. Wonderful and friendly staff.

They did a nice job on the color but not on cut and style. They say they know how to style curly hair but did a lot of curly hair no-no with styling.

Sarah was recommended by my friend whose colouring and cut are always beautiful. I have had a chance to have my hair cut by Sarah and a couple of the girls here, they are all lovely, hard working, elevated energy for all that they do, attentive to the cut and desired outcome, and I love the hair wash / massage, it has me in an almost-coma every time.

This truly is the best salon in all of the Waterloo region. Mario and his team know how to treat a customer, it’s not just a cut and send you out the door. Every customer is greeted, coats taken to be hung, and offered a seat and beverage at the bar. Wash, cut, wash, condition, facial, head massage, and styled. If your in need of a cut that makes you feel like a million bucks, go see UBU. It’s worth every penny. I’ll never go to another salon ever again

Great staff! Patient, kind and helpful. They took THE BEST care of myself and my wedding party. They worked efficiently and hard and maintained a clean, safe and beautiful work environment the whole time. We had a great experience working with U B U. Slightly expensive but really worth it for the quality.

Extremely knowledgeable extremely friendly people the reason for four stars is it's a touch pricey. But if you're looking for wedding photography hair this is the place to come to. And their colouring knowledge is outstanding

I got my hair cut here for the first time. Steph was amazing! She did such a good job washing my hair and she massaged my head afterwards. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and gave me good ideas for my hair. I am looking forward to seeing her next time I need to get my hair cut again!

If I could give them zero about their attitude and unprofessional service i do. I don’t recommend this hair salon to anybody I went there and they refused to do my hair and they were worried about the reviews it internet. I went to bamboo hair salon they very good in everything I got my hair done and so happy about it.

Saw Mario for some face framing highlights October 2017, I wanted a cool tone so he went over them twice, but failed to go all the way to the top the second time. I booked online and he called me in advance to let me know he would not have time to dry it, I said that was fine. So I did not noticed until my hair dried at home that I had orange spots on the top of my highlights. I called to tell him, he kept saying he didn't understand what I meant but offered to fix it but I decided to go elsewhere, I did not trust him again. I saw Bailey at loft 77, she did a great job of fixing my hair, I won't go back to UBU.

Save your money and go to first choice
Three weeks in and I still hate my hair! It takes me years to grow shoulder length hair and I had finally got there and searched for somewhere that had someone able to work with fine hair. This place/stylist seemed to match up with what I wanted. After a quick look at the pictures I had I was told my hair wouldn't work with these styles (one picture was actually of me several years back). When she was done I just about cried when she showed me the back, asked for it to be fixed and it was a little better. Came home to a house full of people, not one compliment, went to work, not one compliment, several people have told me it looks awful, disconnected, no style. Went back and had the back cleaned up, mentioned the sides but the girl didn't want to do anything with them. I still don't understand what's going on with my hair! Frighten hate it and I ended up spending $95 including the tips. Never again, I have honestly had better cuts at the cheapest hairdressers.
Lovely store and friendly staff but that's not the end all and be all.

Great staff! Mario is such a nice and attending person. We always make sure to go here when were in town.
