About what you expect from Uhaul. They upgraded my truck because the one I had on reserve hadn't been returned which was a great gesture. The truck however was in rough shape, the brakes were horrible, probably bordering on dangerous, but it did the job for the short trip I had, for a decent price.

Beware of trickery and hidden expenses! My elderly dad rented a cargo van from U-haul Newmarket, and he was instructed that he could return it at any time. Well, there is a fine print that there is a 20CAD for an after hour return, which the staff forgot to tell him. Also, while he filled the car, he was charged 30CAD for the fuel. The customer service told me the dial was slightly lower than what it supposed to be (which I'm sure it wasn't). I was asked if my elderly father took a picture of the gas dial. No, he didn't. His business goes based on trust and honesty. I rented cars from many companies, I never felt violated this badly.

Took way too long to recieve service. Both employees were incompetent and had no idea what they were doing. This place should not be open. Owners need to have new employees

I would give uhaul 0 stars if I could. From the moment we reserved a truck it went downhill. From our truck not being available, to a pick up location 40 min out of the way, to the vehicle having only 1/4 tank of gas, to them changing the drop off location with no notice, to the website not working for the drop off because of "low memory", then calling to advise of the issues and no response on wait after 30 min. We gave up and left.

From the first phone call, the service here was excellent! Susanna was kind, informative and very personable. The whole process was super easy and I am very happy. Also, they are doing their best with the parking situation they have, so if you can, make sure you can have some take your vehicle from the facility so as to not jam up their parking!

Booked one way truck, but at pickup time I was forced to return the truck back to the pickup point and pay the return milage. (Newmarket -Guelph)

This company does not care to change the terms of the contract any time knowing people can't do much at the pickup time as they need to move, so they take avantage.
A $19 truck rent ended up with a $400 dollars bill.

Do not trus UHaul.

Booked online in last minutes of the day and arrived 5 minutes before closing.
Mr.junior wanted to just call it a day, rushing everything, also initially not ready to accept International driving permit but later helped by his colleague.
Truck was ready and waiting on the driveway.
Make sure to arrive 30 minutes before closing else they won’t like you at all.

Booked a 26foot truck last month for June 29 move. Got a call today stating we could only be given a 15foot truck. Head office made no effort to help us with a trailer or anything. My husband went into the shop and they spent over an hour trying to help us. They confirmed head office does stuff without advising the store, which makes no sense and I can't imagine the stress these folks have to go through. Fo in this shop, they will do all they can to help!

HIDDEN FEES! BEWARE.
They charge you hidden fees of late returns even though you return it exactly on time.when you call head office customer service they don't help at all they just rear what the invoice says. I told them yes I know what the invoice says I can read it myself but what about the extra charges? The lady she's she has no control over what each location does and there is nothing she can do.

I rented a storage at this locatipn, went to check in and the guy clearly does not know anything at all. Whatever question I ask him, he doesn't know.so undertrained and doesn't care about his job.
I rented another storage unit at green storage, the guy over there was way more professional, if it wasn't because they don't have vacancy and we really need this unit, we wouldn't rent here.

I regularly rent from uHaul, with mixed experiences. Some outlets really suck.

They have a really bad service. One day, after the delivery of the car, I asked them to issue my invoice and say that you paid about $ 107 and that is the total cost. But about two weeks later, I was charged more than another $ 216. I am not satisfied at all and I recommend you to take the final invoice after checking the key and check again.

Tha staff was very quick with processing my request. The rate was reasonable.
We had a cargo van for the weekend as we needed to store some items between residents.
The online check in saved a lot of time in the store.
Returning the van was extremely painless.

Booked one way truck, on rhe pickup i was forced to return the truck (newmarket -guelph) and pay the retin milage.

Booked a one way truck rental, then they call me the day before saying I have to return it back to my pickup location instead of dropping it off near my destination like I had planned. Really screws over my day, which is already hectic enough since I'm using it to move.

Good place to rent a truck, just be sure to confirm the rate before you rent. One time they raised their rates for a truck over night while I had the truck, when I showed up to return the truck i was charged $40 more than I was quoted, the manager fixed the issue but was a shock

Called 7 times in a five minute period someone picks up and without saying anything just puts you on hold and leaves you there.last call was on hold for 30 minutes with no one picking up. At least say "please hold" nothing. Super unprofessional

My experience with U-Haul hasn't been that good. I wanted to get an outside self storage and went to talk to someone at U-Haul. They said they didn't have it and I have to call them to see if there will be one available. After calling them for two months with no positive response I finally sent them an email. Surprisingly the email was responded very quickly followed by a call and I was able to book it for March. I was very happy that I finally got the storage. Unfortunately today when I visited their location the representative said that the storage is booked for April 5th. I told her that they said March but the representative said she has nothing available for March. I think there's a communication issue as the stores are not communicating with their offices and that creates confusion for customers.

Avoid the Newmarket (Harry Walker) location! Unacceptable service! Several others have posted how rude one of the service people are at this location, wish had read the reviews before I went there. To start, the online booking system is terrible, could not access my reservation when picking up a truck and a 20 minute wait to contact the location by phone despite there being at least 3 staff present. Service guy (didn't get his name unfortunately, youngish, short beard, short pony tail) was absolutely overboard. He badgered the person in front of me, barking orders instead of asking questions and I had the same experience. I was in obvious distress as the online booking system screwed up, but this guy didn't care rather than looking up my reservation to get me on my way, he started an entirely new reservation.when asking why we were starting from scratch when they had all my info and he immediately jumped down my throat, went right from 0 to 100 on the rudeness scale. This continued to get worse throughout my 20 minute ordeal with this guy as he kept escalating. It was unreal actually, I couldn't believe how he was speaking. At one point I tried to de-escalate asking him if maybe he was having a bad day, or other customers were being rude, which only made him angrier, he basically shouted orders at me and told me to f-off if I didn't like it. Not one of the two other service people there tried to intervene. I don't know how this guy has a job, relative maybe? I asked if he was the owner and he said no. If I didn't need that truck that day I would have gladly walked away.

The staff here deal with some very interesting situations and people. Always friendly and give a full breakdown for what each rental agreement entails.

Purchased a ball mount at this location. The quality and fit of their product is poor. Do not buy their products.
I now have to get my complete hitch system inspected due the poor fit. The ball mount was so loose that at 30kmph jostled my vehicle and trailer. I had the rental trailer connected to my vehicle for 4 hour drive. One would think a rental company that rents trailers would have better products. This was a UHAUL labeled product. Hopefully they accept returns.

Easy access if you get a ground floor unit. Make sure you confirm there is actually a light in your space as that is apparently not a default.

TERRIBLE customer service from Marcel, who appeared to be on some kind of power trip. He was arrogant, condescending and outright rude. We were warned against using this location on Harry Walker Parkway. I have seen other terrible reviews regarding Marcel, going back several years. With such a terrible attitude/personality, I cannot understand how he is still allowed to deal with the public! Is he an owner? Related to the owner? Good customer service is important. He is in desperate need of customer service training. If I treated clients this way at my workplace, I'd be written up or fired. I don't like giving negative ratings, but I am absolutely disgusted. I will never use them again and I will warn anyone to never use this location.

If you rent from this Uhaul do not use the after hours drop off. There is only one lane in and out of the whole place and if someone leaves their truck in that lane you're screwed. Couldn't get my car out at 3am in the morning.

U-Haul is a scam and they do that with the worst customer service. Atleast genuine scammers have some decency towards the person they are scamming. And Newmarket U-Haul is icing on the cake for worst customer service. I had a reservation that I went in to confirm and while talking to a very decent person behind the counter, some other agent jumps in and de-rails the whole conversation. Starts disrespecting, yelling, cursing and telling me to gtfo "his store". Needless to say, I cancelled my reservation. I would rather pay $$$ extra to hire movers than give U-Haul any of my business.

U-Haul is an incredibly unreliable company, and they do it by design to hide their limited fleet.

The people at Newmarket UHaul are great, very helpful and professional. It is sad that these good people have to represent such an awful company.

Unfortunately it is nearly impossible to get the Newmarket UHaul staff on the phone. When you call the number you will be directed to Uhaul's central call center, NOT the Newmarket UHaul staff. After listening to a recording of U-Haul patting themselves on the back about how they are "part of the community's *critical infrastructure* ready to serve your needs! ", you will then sit on hold for 10-20 minutes.

U-Haul consistently fails to have of trucks and trailers available. They have a limited inventory in their fleet. But they won't tell you this. They hide and obscure the true availability of their trucks both to the customer and to their own staff, and allow you to make reservations anyways. Over the phone they swear up and down that the truck is available, and they will "have a representative call you to discuss your reservation", which actually means "the truck doesn't actually exist, but we will let you think it was to get you committed to a reservation. Then you will be asked to accept a smaller truck unreasonable for your needs, picked up from a different location further away from you, available at a time you didn't ask for", and this sets you up for failure on the day of your move.

I don't know about you, but I would much rather be told that there is no available trucks and I can go make arrangements elsewhere, rather then be told a truck "might" be available, be put on the hook, lose valuable time and then be told at the last minute that they can't actually serve me and screw me over.

U-Haul doesn't understand their customers and treats them like garbage. It's like they are doing you a favor by barely succeeding and doing their job. This is a company to stay away from if at all possible.

Rented from this location multiple times, each time was a new issue and each time recieved terrible customer service.
1. Reserved a pickup truck because I needed an open bed. When I arrived I was given a van without them telling me why or offering an alternative.
2. Rented a van and put in the reservation I would need it for 5 hours. Upon arrival was told it had to be back in 2 hours as they had reserved it for someone else. When I said that was not acceptable, they told me I would be charged for an additional day if it was not returned on time. (How is that reasonable?)
3.rented a van for a quick job. Filled out the automated check out including photographing damage that was not noted on the contract. When I returned the van 2 hours later after being in the van the entire time and not causing any damage to the vehicle I was told I did not need to be there for the inspection so I left (mistake). I got a call later saying the vehicle had a large scratch on the side that "looked new". After reviewing the photos during my online checkout the scratch was visible before I took the van, they refused to look at their own documents and said it was not there. I filed a complaint with uhaul and the franchise manager, I got zero response.

I will not use this location or uhaul again.

I have been charged for the auto transport trailer that was defective and I couldn't use. Even more, I have been called later to return the moving truck also, despite the fact that in the contract was indicated the complete different drop off location. Plus minutes later I have received another call from the costumer service insisting that I should return the truck to them, threatening me that if I don't do so I'll be charged an extra 400$ for transfer the truck.
Completely disappointing and I don't want to return there anymore.

Consistent the worst uhaul ever be ever gone too. Twice have over booked their trailers so don’t count on them honouring your reservation. Also the rudest people every time. Worth the drive out of town for better service.

Dear U-Haul, you have the most unprofessional and unreliable service we've ever had to deal with! We've ordered a hitch for the car through U-Haul and scheduled an appointment for installation (an hour away drive from us was closest location) and got a call less than 24 hours before the appointment that the hitch wasn't there. Ok.rescheduled the appointment (had to rearrange work again for this) - this time went ok. The reason for adding the hitch to the car is so that we can tow a trailer on vacation. Booked the trailer 3 WEEKS in advance. 48 hours notice - there is no trailer available at the agreed location, but there is another one 1 hour away. Great - confirm reservation. Double check within next 30 minutes - nope, again it is not available!

We've all made mistakes within our jobs - I get it. I think what upsets me most is not the consistency of repeated mistakes with booking and reservations, but the fact that there is NO PROFESSIONALISM in admitting that U-Haul was the one to make the mistake and no attempt at offering a solution or some form of credit or anything. At the end, the hitch was close to $500 and is essentially useless as there is no trailer to attach to it when we go on vacation.

Fantastic customer service! Had no issue picking up our reserved trailer and it was great to have the employee hook it up for us and check the lights. Limited parking so planning for a ride or parking your car elsewhere if you’re renting a truck is a good plan.

The staff are very friendly n quiet professional. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the Store. The only area that they were not knowledgeable in was Uhall international Shipping. However, the two staff that were in the store helped to look into the international shipping rate n the cost of the storage box for me. I informed them that I was getting ready to do an international shipping overseas. They both tried there hardest to helped me get Uhalls shipping informantion and the cost of a storage box. They used the computer, as weĺl as sending an email to the Shipping department with my personal information. I was very pleased with the service that I received today and all the other times I went there to conduct business.
Unfortunately, Uhall does not ship to my intented destination.

Honestly the most unsatisfactory service I have ever had. The miscommunication and lack of care for their customers is amazing. I booked a unit, I went to pick it up, they didn't care that I booked one online, they just cared that they never got the booking. No apology, no unit, I was told to rebook and come back the next day. Wasted my time. Thanks.

Exceptionally rude young man and the lady was no exception. Honestly I do not understand how you can have a customer based service but treat the customers like trash.

I’ve had a storage unit here for over a year. It is beyond frustrating when I call, nobody ever answers. EVER! I have left countless messages. As well as e-mails. They have NEVER returned ONE SINGLE EMAIL, and they have only ever returned ONE of my phone calls. THEY MAKE MORE THAN ENOUGH MONEY TO HIRE A FULL TIME RECEPTIONIST! THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. If I could rate your customer service from 1-10 it would be 0.

Lady at the front desk was very rude and told us she couldnt help us because she was busy and by herself then told us to come in another day.will not be using your storage facility now due to the arrogance of front staff. I was looking online at available units and she told me they didnt have what I wanted and to come back mon to friday 7-7.i work until late and only had time today to find a unit sorry to inconvience you uhaul.

Horrible useless service. Show up to pick up our truck for our MOVING DAY! And there is no truck! No advance warning that our truck wasn't returned on time for our use! Would a call have been so hard? !? Could they not figure out a solution for us? ! Then we find out that the free storage as promised won't work and now we have to get a larger one for more money.
