Absolutely horrible horrible experience do not recommend! I rented a Uhaul for the day. When I was there I paid with my credit card a pre-authorized payment of 78$. I was told if my amount was over or under I would be charged or refunded. I received my invoice and it said I was supposed to be charged $71. I look at my credit card statement and I was charged $78 then refunded $71 and then charged again $89. I called the Uhaul on Coventry and spoke with the manager. Extremely rude and unpleasant. He told me it’s not his issue and to call the bank that they never charged me $78. I explained that they definitely did because that was when I used my credit card in person. He then said well you were refunded so it doesn’t matter and I explained the refund did not cover the difference.

I was supposed to be charged 71$ according to the invoice they sent me instead I was refunded that amount but still charged the $78 and $89 which equals $167. With the refund of $71 I was still charged $96 which is over 20$ more than I’m supposed to. The manager then told me to call the bank regarding the refund issue since it’s the banks issue not his.

The manager then told me I didn’t fuel up the Uhaul which is why I was charged 89$. Still doesn’t account for the extra $7 I wasn’t refunded for from the 78$ charge. I explained to him that I did fuel that Uhaul when I was there in person they gave me a paper and highlighted on the paper at which line the fuel gage had to be at when I return it. When I returned it, the fuel gage was exactly on that line. I even saved the image I took when submitting my returning of the Uhaul to prove that.

At the end he placed me on hold and told me to call back in a few days. He never explained why I was overcharged and was upset with me for calling and basically told me it wasn’t his issue, if I don’t like the charges take it up with the bank. However he DID NOT help me resolve the issue and as of today my credit card is still over charged.

Absolutely horrible horrible horrible. To be yelled at by the GM when I was the one who was overcharged was insane to me. If a company over charges you they should explain why and fix the issue not tell you to call the bank it’s not their problem. They are the ones who charged me? And they are the ones who issued a refund that was not enough money? What will the bank do? HORRIBLE!

Terrible experience. There were so many last minute changes from u-haul to our reservation day of. Eg.pickup locations + times.

The only reason I put 1 star is because customer service gave us a discount and added an extra day for the inconvenience.

There was only one person working attending customers (who was very nice) ; when we left there were 30 people in line and it took around 20 minutes between arriving at the counter and leaving with the truck. The truck had 500kms less registered on paper nad they wanted to charge us for their mistake. Be sure to check everything because you cannot trust the conditions of the truck.

Honestly I’ll never use uhaul again, everyone I dealt with very clearly hated their jobs. They were not helpful in the slightest, I reserved and needed a dolly, when I got there there wasn’t any. They handed me the keys and told me the blankets were at the door and I could grab the heavy bag. No one showed me where the truck was I had to check each one. When I returned it they made me fold all their unwashed disgusting blankets and didn’t explain to me why it was $20 more than when I left they just charged it. $90 for 3 hours with the 10ft van and the worst service I’ve ever received. Go somewhere else

Took ball off my bumper to install hitch. Put ball in truck without washer and nut and while looking for that noticed my 15/8 ball isn’t there. And charged me extra because a bit of rust in bolt holes …. Newer truck. Didn’t see any rust when I did wiring harness couple weeks ago. Don’t use Coventry for install. Go the place with trailers in Stitsville

Failed my F Class.

Rented a 9' truck from here to do my F-Class driving test. Aced the circle check of the car but could not drive as the rear indicator was not working.

Returned the truck and talked with the owner where he proceeded to explain that the light blew out on my drive to the test center (Walkley (about 10 mins away) from this location.

Then explained that I should've done a check prior to moving the vehicle from the lot. I left at 8: 58 but I received a text for the check at 9: 03, after I left the lot so this was not even possible.

Overall, costed me an extra $100 to rebook the driving test and no compensation.

0/10 do not recommend.

A truck was available, the office lied when I asked about prepaying. And when I asked to pay by phone. I was on travel, and paying the truck rental for a family member. Uhaul told me there was no problem call in my card the day of the rental. We had to scramble to get someone else to go in person instead. I was out of town. I called same day to arrange in person payment at 8: 30 am for pick up at noon. Before I had to leave the city. I was declined. The staff kept me on hold for 20 min. Then hung up. Had they been honest when I had called a week before, i could have made other arrangements. Two different people told me that I could prepay. Not impressed.

The WORST UHAUL EXPERIENCE EVER!
where do I even begin!?

I've moved a BUNCH and this uhaul location was the worst experience by FAR! Would not recommend to ANYONE

Move time = 1.5 hours, one way

Took me 45 mins to get the key to the truck which cut into the time I had booked the truck for

The fuel was at a ridiculous "markline" which was just over a 1/4 tank-wasnt enough feul for 1 way of my move. Had to take the extra time, km, to get fuel
It was also IMPOSSIBLE to get the fuel amount back to the original amount upon return.done on purpose cause either way you end up paying.if you go over the mark, you're out of pocket, if you go under mark the charge you 1.92/l
Lose - lose for the customer

The radio did not work, didn't even turn on

Could not adjust the heat

Truck cup holders were sticky, mucky and absolutely filthy (covid 19!?)

NO PARKING FOR CUSTOMERS!? Had to park across the street at the mall.

When I brought the truck back and explained all of this to the apparent Manager (or so he says)
NOTHING I mean NOTHING was done. I spoke with customer service on the phone and via email.nothing.
So just save yourself from this hassel and go ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE!

$400 and some odd dollars later.

They also have a lot of accessories necessary for moving.

I wanted to have a "base plate" installed on the front of our car to pull it begins our motorhome. I didn't think I could find a place in the area to install it so thought I'd do it myself but after spending several hours trying to drill the required booked in the frame with little success, I decided I had to bring it somewhere so called them and much to my surprise, they were happy to do it and they did a great job.

Update: tried to get another "base plate" installed on our new car and now they won't do it anymore because of liability reasons.

Listen, the staff here is nice enough but the building & company themselves aren’t great. I had to put my belongings into a storage unit because of a fire. The storage unit flooded, I’ve been waiting almost a month for insurance & money back for my damages. There’s no communication or real accountability. My things were damaged because of the poor maintenance of the building & I’m still out of pocket/trying to get a response back. It’s extremely annoying & unprofessional.

I’ve never had a good experience with uhaul but this was the last chance, never again.

Terrible experience and customer service.

They told me I had an appointment but forgot to book the reservation in the system. Thereafter, client service representative laughed at the situation. Furthermore, the Manager tried to buy my loyalty with a 50$ gift card which was never provided.

Do not go to this U-Haul. Search for other locations.

Bad experience all around. Reserved 2 dollys, but the only had one. When I asked about a refund for the second one that I already paid for, I was told no. They don't guarantee to have any equipment even though you have to pay for it in advance. The gas needle was lower than what the contract showed. Thankfully I took a picture of it before I left the lot. At the end of everything I asked for a receipt. I was told that there system was slow and I would have to wait 10 minutes. There are other options out there.

Received a truck with fuel gauge less than what is actually mentioned on the contract. I had the U-Haul employee in the parking lot (if I read his name correct, Serifa), sign on it stating that the fuel gauge mentioned in the contract is incorrect and should have read 1/4. I also mentioned this issue to the other U-Haul employee who received the truck from me upon returning it. He had assured me that I will not be getting additional charges for fuel. Nonetheless, I did!

I have filled a complaint in person in U-Haul branch in Gatineau, and again on the phone last week. I was told both times that I will get refunded, but nothing happened!

I understand that $15.32 plus tax is not a significant amount of money, but I am very disappointed to have to spend so much energy and time trying to fix what is not my mistake.

U-Haul cancelled my reservation I'd made a month before the night before my lease ran out and I had to move. Zero sympathy from the manager and zero effort to make things right. Just "you didn't read the fine print where we can cancel your reservation at any time. "

What's even the point of having a reservation system if they can cancel without warning?

I was really disappointed with the service from this unit. They didn’t have the truck that I rented far in advance and acted like it was not their problem that the truck wasn’t there. One of the employees, who identified himself as Ahmir, refused to reassign me to another truck (smaller) that was available in the store and that could meet my needs. Long story short: it ended up delaying more than 2 hours my move, I had to pay extra hours for the contractors that I hired and I almost missed my elevator reservation in the building.

DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THE SERVICE!

Too crowded outside and inside. Some of the workers are rude. The place is confusing (only my opinion) **. Reviewed** I was in line with a friend to pick up a van, and they told us to move our cars as they don't have customer service parking. I had to move my car to the next street? The customer service is really bad.

First off, it's Uhaul. They have trucks and moving tools but they also have the greassiest, oiliest sales tactics in north america. This location is very hectic and they keep to many vehicles on their lot. They had trucks sticking out the entrance onto the sidewalk. Part of the unpleasant experience was the other clients driving in the lot at high speed and not paying attention to people trying to back up their trucks. Lots of shouting and swearing between customers because everyone was having a hard time trying to get out. I picked up a truck that had half a tank of gas but in their log it said 5/8.

U-Haul is good company. But U-Haul in Canada or in Ottaaa is not really good. Always people are in line even if they reserve online and did express checkout. There are other problem like you select one truck and get another size or their parking is full after hour and so on. Cashiers think they are medical doctor.

I was a little cautious about going to this uhaul after reading some of the online reviews. I went early just in case there was a line - there was not. The staff were so pleasant and professional for both pick up and drop off. I think some of the negative reviews are from people who come during busy times and seem shocked that there is a line. As with any business, if you go during peak times, you’ll want to account for lines and wait time. Honestly, I’ve moved a lot and this is one of the best uhaul experiences I’ve ever had! So much so that I wanted to write a review (which I rarely do)

Inventory not listed online (only found out they had the right unit by calling 1-800 number). Completed online check in and had to repeat the process in person. Waited too long for help in the lot. I had to do the work myself as staff was slow so. Parking area is chaos with trucks blocking all areas and customers randomly parking blocking areas as well.

Horrible service! Showed up in the morning for a 9 am pick up. Waited in line for 40 minutes which ate into our time but U Haul refused to make it up despite the fact it was their fault - perhaps opening doors early would ensure 9 am pickups don’t run late or perhaps making sure their online check in system works. Check in was the slowest process with the clerks typing one letter at a time. I don’t recommend this place - only reason we relied on u haul is because nothing else was available.

Awful customer experience from General Manager Ben Howell. Took money for fitting a tow hitch. Confirmed and changed appointment. Only when my wife arrived to get the job done was she told a) car was too old and we should have had it fitted earlier - they knew the age of the car.b) we were going to be charged an EXTRA $100 for cleaning the underside of the car so they didnt get dirty doing the job c) was told they were running at least an hour late d) as usual, more interested in what was going on with his phone than dealing with a paying customer standing right in front of him. Cancelled. Cannot recommend at all.

Horrible Service from General Manager Ben Howell. I rented a trailer to tow a car one way, then was given a local rental contract meaning it would cost me 240$ to return the trailer to my local location or drive nearly 3 hours to return it. I missed my college lecture on the phone with various representatives and managers who all told me they could not help. When I was finally able to get into contact with General Manager who also happens to be the person who gave me the wrong contract he refused to own up to his mistake then told me I needed to return the trailer or be charged and then hung up while I speaking. I simply asked him to verify if his customers were local or one way customers so this type of situation would not happen again and he insisted that he did and does which obviously is needless to say is a lie considering no one in their right mind would request a local tow when they live hours away from the location

Reserved a truck and tow dolly for pickup at this location and rec’d a phone call the day before pickup telling me they could not guarantee what I reserved would be there. I was advised that they could only guarantee the items in Gatineau Quebec. Luckily it was only a half he drive more to get it.

I booked for a trailer this morning, they transferred me to the gatineau location and garanteed my reservation, I arrived in gatineau this morning and there was no trailer available, i then ended up having to drive all the way to the Innes location to finally get a trailer, and they did not act upon there garantee policy, i was still charged full price, i am not happy at all.

Found the staff to be very casual but super friendly. Worked out an issue with my personal truck quickly. Staff were able to connect wire harness the day before. Again, that was very helpful and appreciated.

Check in process was fine for me at 7: 30am (no one else in line). Took 10 min with having done the online check in prior to arrival. No issues connecting the trailer and leaving. The trailer I rented only arrived 15 min prior to my arrival so I/they were lucky.

Staff are all very friendly and/but very chill.

Arriving back, the check out bay was full so they asked me to drive to the back and park. Thirty seconds later, he's loading up his app and I'm checked out. Super easy.

Great service. Top notch service and great work on hitch, frame and the break away tow package for the wiring. No issues towing my pop up tent and everything worked perfectly! It was like I wasn't towing anything at all!

Worst customer service I have ever seen. 4 counters with only 1 very slow person at a counter. I had already pre paid for a rental and I was still in line for 2 hours. They had 2 people on the counters when I first arrived but the one person decided to take a break with 12 people in line. Seems like they are very understaffed. I would seriously avoid renting from this location.

How is it everytime I come here, there is one person behind the counter. And even then I've seen the system they use crash. Service is fine and the people are friendly, but the organization and management really needs to improve. It's the predominant UHaul in Ottawa if you want trucks, vans or trailers so make it easier for people to book, pay and get going. Waiting 30-45 minutes in a lineup (even pre pandemic) is just stupid.

Terrible location, incredibly slow and only 1 person on the desk with no sense of urgency at all. We waited for an hour and only made it through 2 people in the queue with 9 people still waiting before us. The line was out the door after us. The first 4 people were obviously frustrated and one ended up yelling at the attendant who did not de-escalate the situation at all. We had already express checked in online but that did not help us either. We ended up cancelling our reservation with this location because we worked out the rental period we needed would have been over before we got the truck.

Pick up was ok although very slow. Drop off was horrible. 15 minutes before someone told me that I had to wait outside to give the keys back. Outside the vehicles were lining up pouring into Coventry road creating dangerous situation. The key picker announced me that I will have to pay $60 for cleaning a bit of debris in the van. These fees are totally arbitrary and no amount anywhere in the contract. Then I have been double charged for distance driven. Confusion between miles and kms. The guy scratched the part of the contract where it shows "miles included" blaming the software. Overall more than 1 hour 1/2. I gave up for that didn't worth my time. Avoid that location. Employees should go on training as a first step.

I would avoid. Over promised by online website and marketing. There was hidden fees and gauging all around. For a "moving friendly" company. It's pretty bad that I have to return the equipment at the same location.

Vehicle: brakes were bad, steering was vague at best and dangerous. AC was cold tho.

This company and this location is a mess! They have your credit card and charge you on your behind and when you understand and reach them they acting that it was a mistake. It happened to me and a friend exactly in the same way. Read the other reviews and you will find what they do with customer. Personally I Will never work with them again. Poor service changed my car size, forget to give me dolly although I was charged. Charged me extra for gas with no reason, extra 20$ if you return the car after 6pm!

The location did not have my rental truck in spite of me ordering it a month in advance. They offered a smaller truck which was not usefule to me in this case. They also stated I could only keep it for 24 hours in spite of the fact that my confirmation showed I had secured it for 48 hours. The staff was unfriendly and slow. I would highly recommend another company or location. Enterprise has provided much better service for instance.

Place has 4 counters set up but only 1 person working. There are those who claimed they waited for more than an hour for their turn, just to pick up.
I opted for the online pick up. The staff working outside was helpful and helped me with the process. Reached the verification part of the online pick up process. Took nearly 10 minutes for that part of the process to complete. Informed the staff outside again and he was more than happy to go behind the counter for me and grab the key for my truck. Whole process still took around 20 to 30 mins for online pickup.
Summary, the did not have enough people working inside. Online pickup meant to be convenient and fast but failed to achieve that in my opinion. The staff at this location was nice and helpful. Not sure about the guy working behind the counter though since it appears to take forever to process each customer. Could just be poor system setup.

If going to pick up on a weekend, prepare to wait well over an hour even with online check in. Covid protocols were not followed, there are way too many people waiting in line in the store. Customers and staff can be see with no masks on while inside. Customer service was fast, and the reason for long lines is not enough staff and customers with no knowledge trying to book.

They tell you to sign in online to avoid the lines due to covid, but once you're there they have a massive line and one of the employees told us it was useless to sign in online because they just ignore it, so you have to wait in line for an hour or more just to redo everything you did online.

I called few weeks ago to order a trailer hitch for my vehicle before I was instructed to place the order online through u-haul website.
I did and I paid in full since these were the instructions I received from their customer service over the phone.

Few days later I received a call from u-haul on Coventry Rd telling me to come for installation appointment in two weeks. The day before my appointment someone from the store called me to inform me it’s out of stock and he has no idea when it will be in!

When I told him how come you you took my money in full meanwhile it is not in stock, he challenged me by saying this location did not take your money. It’s u-haul who took your money!

U-haul Coventry Rd has my money and I hold that location responsible for that. I placed the order based on what your told me!

The Uhaul experience at Coventry Road in Ottawa was awful. I booked a truck one month in advance, they let me know 12 hours prior to my expected rental pickup that no trucks were available! The customer service representative was incredibly rude, and he seemed to think that I was being unrealistic by expecting the truck to be available at the time I had booked it for. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE TO DELIVER A RENTAL WHEN YOU HAVE BOOKED IT. I have never received worse customer service than I did today.

I was travelling from 6 hours away and had reserved a storage unit and trailer. After a significant wait I was told that they did not have any storage units, with no solutions offered. Ironically, while I was waiting in line another customer was told that they should always make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Terrible service and totally unreliable.

Very rude guy wearing a beige shirt. Don't know the guy's name. It is not Benjamin or Lisa. Lisa is great.
