Why would you let us book a certain location a week ahead and say it's available, then the day before our move change the pickup and drop off location to an entirely different spot that is an hour drive away? ! If it wasn't available originally then you should have told us earlier. Very unprofessional on the phone and could not help us. Now we are unable to move out of our apartment on the day we need to and are stuck.

This place was a saving grace. I had booked a truck with U-Haul at a location that has been condemned for about 6 months. You'd think that their IT department or at the very least their franchise operations would know that a location is closed.
Anyway, the location on parliament street was 2 minutes away and the service was wonderful

CAUTION - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. This location will give your reserved vehicle away without a second thought. I reserved a truck to move today and when I arrived I was informed that someone else took the truck and he had nothing for me. He stated it was out of his control and that regardless of a reservation it is first come first served. All the vehicles present were ‘not working’ and the only solution was sending me to a location on the other side of the city. When I told the employee to cancel my reservation he didn’t, because I was later contacted by the other location to ask if I would be coming.

Booked a truck here weeks in advance, did the online check-in the morning of the booking and when I arrived they just said "we have no trucks". They refused to call around or help at all. I should have read reviews prior. Luckily I called the Queen Street location and they were helpful and had a truck ready for us within 10 minutes. AVOID BOOKING HERE!

Take photos of your UHauls odometer WITH the uhauls dash and date and time or another mobile device showing so. We were emailed our initial agreement so I did not check the odometer reading but I took a photo of the odometer. When we returned the vehicle after a few hours, we were charged with close to 200 kms worth of mileage when we had only traveled 7 kms throughout downtown. This happened in February and I'm still trying to get my money back.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS-
This location will charge you a fee for something. Go to another location unless you are desperate. The ghetto spot and the customer service is terrible. They should really shut this location down for poorly they treat any customers.

I have been renting from uhaul for years throughout the city. This is the best uhaul I’ve been to as the staff is friendly, hardworking and go over the top to make sure you have a truck.

- I booked my truck at 9: 00AM the guy came 20 mintues late to open the place up.
- He did not gave me a checklist.
- The truck was in very dirty condition.
- And the person was rude with me.

Since I had been calling to book a moving truck for my moving out it is so frustrating not getting somebody to answer. So today after coming from my Physio I went straight to the place to personally book the trust I need fortunately after 10 minutes I was entertained and the guy who helped was nice so I was able to book the trust without any problem. It was a lucky day.

1.) I’ve had poor uhaul reservation experience before so I called multiple times ahead to ensure there was actually a 15’ truck available. This is the only upside of this review.
2.) after coming into the store, we had to set a drop off location for the truck. The employee was extremely rude in pushing us to pick “not sure” as the drop off location. He said “we may have some problems when dropping there but it will work. ” He would not let us pick an ideal location, and kept saying there was no spots available at all, even though I see three on the monitor. We eventually had to find the one on our phones and he reluctantly entered the location.
3.) he accused me of being difficult because I didn’t want to incur fees for picking “not sure”. When asked about the “problems during drop off”, he said he never mentioned it. When I asked if he can just move the map on your screen, he said he can’t.
4.) when presented with the truck, I said “is this the 15’” to confirm and was basically brushed off “you asked for one so here it is”. Wow

This is the worst rental experience I’ve ever had. Not sure how this place is still in operation. Uhaul get your sh- together

Should be avoided at all cost.

I have booked a truck for 1 Oct 2022. I checked in online to be on the safe side. I showed up and they just simply said "we don't have any car".

You can imagine the nightmare, I booked my move helper and moving elevators. My movers were at the door ready to go and the guy was just like "we don't have cars" and when I complained, he just refereed me a badly-written phone number on the wall and said "call them". Literary these were his words "We don't have cars" and "call them", no apology, no attempt to remedy the situation.

I called THE number and they were just yeah, we don't have cars in whole Toronto at the moment. I had to cancel my movers (of course I had to pay since they showed up).

One and half hour later, THE number called and they were like "yeah, we found a car for you, but it 17 miles away from the location you asked for".

While I was arguing with them in shop, I saw they the same thing to at least three other customers. Just simply saying, "we don't have cars".

At the end, something that was suppose to take 4 hours of my time, ended up being 2 day project, I had to ask my friends to come and help, and use their cars to gradually move my stuff, a true nightmare!

Do yourself a favor and stay away from U-Haul, they just don't know how to treat their customers and how to manage their resources.

The worst experience ever! Had to wait for half an hour to get the car. Then I was charged 498$ for 275 miles when I only drove 9! It’s been two weeks, I’ve been writing emails which I got no response to. Went on life chat at least five times, waited for 40 minutes each time just for the workers to end the chat after reviewing my problem. Every time I call, they keep me on the line for at least an hour and hang up as soon as they pick up the phone

Definitely *do not* go to this U-Haul location. The owner added charges that we did not select at check-out, and entered the miles we traveled incorrectly (by about 150 miles - a lot of money). Like other reviews have stated, this place will scam you out of your $$ - find another location to go to.

Try another location if you have the option.

This location is disorganized at best, which results in lengthy wait times and potential issues with your rental.

My rental was for a 10am pickup, but I didn't get the keys until 10: 45am. There was a line of 4 people behind me and 4 in front, so the people behind me had even longer wait times.

A frustrated guy stormed in as the keys he needed at a different location were not delivered by the staff at this one, so he had to come here. They then confused the keys and sent him back, so this guy was set for a 9am pick up and didn't drive away until almost 11 after coming back a second time for the right keys.

The staff here are doing their best it seems, so the owner of this Neighborhood Dealer really needs to step up and ensure their staff and business are set up for success (right now it is not).

This was an absolutely terrible experience. I received a call 15 minutes before my pick up time that they had no trucks available. They arranged for me to go to the 231 Livingstone Avenue branch - this is 30 minutes further and I had an elevator booked within the hour. This meant I missed the service elevator booking by 1.5 hours by the time I got there, got the truck (another disaster) and got back.

My friends who were helping me move had to wait in a coffee shop during that time and as a result, I missed the elevator booking at my new place. The day I had been planning for weeks and that is the most stressful experience one can have became even worse because of Uhaul.

Every Uhaul employee I spoke with (about 5 of them including an Area Manager) blamed a previous customer not returning the truck in time for the reason my truck was not ready. This is ridiculous - Uhaul should have that kind of inventory on hand for issues like this rather than blaming a customer. I also believe that was a lie as the branch I was redirected to said they were getting customers from all over the city - it doesn't sound like an issue of a previous customer being late.

Will never use Uhaul again.

Rented a truck on a slow day, I was the only customer. Don’t be expecting speedy service, but the guy got the job done. Easy pickup and drop off and emailed receipt. Was surprisingly very cheap, would use again!

Very smooth pick-up and drop-off with these guys, with no wait at all. I checked in online prior and uploaded my licence which may have helped move things along quickly. The receptionist checked me in fast and she was professional and everything was explained to me clearly. The guy giving me the truck also reminded me to take a picture of the mileage and gas and a video of the truck before and after in case of later disputes, which was a good tip. All in all, a much smoother process than the two other Uhaul dealers I used in the past.

I also left my toque in the truck and they found it for me and are holding it for me until I can come get it later today. Thanks guys!

Horrible place, the owner is a loud terrible person. We asked him questions about after hour returns, at which he got so mad at he started yelling at us about it being his business and that he doesn't care about uhaul or his customers, its toronto he can do what he wants with his business. He kept jumping out of his seat to come scream at us and saying he would not even rent us a truck if he didn't shut up take what he was giving us and leave. Clearly a dangerous man as he doesn't care about anything, the reviews are true and if you can avoid this place please do. We booked our uhaul at a couple of different locations but kept getting redirected here due to lack of availability. We had to go in irregardless of the reviews of this place, but if you can get a different location, even some more farther away i would advise you pay the extra mileage rather than go here. If you go here, take detailed before and after photos of the truck damages, mileage and gas tank.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. All the 1 star reviews are absolutely true and I regret not reading them before coming here. I probably won't be able to get my money back but I am posting this review to hopefully prevent others from getting scammed as well.

1. First you walk in and you see a very unkept, dark space that is not Covid friendly.

2. Asking us to return the truck and park in a green P parking instead of at the back lot (probably to charge us more)

3. Not going over the dents and cracks in the mirrors of the truck in the contract (perhaps charging us with that too). Very unkelt trucks smelling heavily of gasoline and smoke.

4. Posting pictures of the two charges that went through- they charged us $100+ more they claim that the fuel was 1/2 full when the gave the truck (truck TM 5850 R) to us but we have photo evidence that it was only 1/8 full so we refilled to that amount.

5. Last night we were on hold with customer service for 2+hrs and the ladies on their end were very considerate and after seeing photo evidence and made notes for them not to charge us with the fuel and mileage - as the amount in contract was false.

TLDR: we were charged an overcharge for a 15km distance (total 30km) - from the dealershop to Ikea North York. DO NOT GO

Edit: luckily thanks to our amazing customer service agent Darrell! We were able to get a refund back due to taking lots of photos before we started the trip. However to get the refund took lots of hours waiting on hold and talking to 3 different agents soo.take this a lesson and just avoid if all possible- if not take loots of pictures and videos as evidence.

I reserved my truck here 1 month in advance. Whenever I called the number provided for the store no one picked up. I literally called this store 15-20 times to speak to someone about my reservation but there was no response from this location. I ended up changing my reservation to another location.

This location looks like you're walking into some sort of shady truck deal, but dont be fooled. The staff are phenomenal and get you sorted super fast and efficiently. Despite being downtown, this is best uhaul location I've used yet across any city.

I picked up the cargo van at 11 AM, returned it at 3 PM the same day. I drove 21 km and was charged for 85 km. Unfortunately I drove a U-Haul moving van for the first time and didn't take a picture of the mileage at the end. They took advantage of it and charged me $ 44 extra. Disgusting.

Worst service ever! I reserved a hand truck in advance, got a confirmation number. When I came there I was told there are no hand trucks and there is nothing I can do and that the reservation is useless.

I wish I read the reviews prior to renting from here. This place is a total scam, and my gut told me that when I was booking in with them. The booking and pick up process was relatively okay (although, upon arrival, this place is super sketch and seems disorganized). Everything went okay with taking the van out and dropping it off, but then I saw they had charged me twice. I've tried to call them 3 times to remedy the issue and I was fed BS excuses as to why they couldn't deal with it at the time.

"We just got a big line up - can you call back in 2 hours? "

"There was an accident out front the shop - can you call back in 2 hours? "

"Let me get your contract number and I'll call you back"

I'm convinced that these people just continue feeding you these BS responses until you grow tired of it. I made a dispute with my credit card company so we're dealing with it that way, but I wouldn't recommend going here at all.

Avoid this place at all costs. I haven’t even returned my uhaul van yet and I’m already dreading going back.

Insanely disorganized and the gentleman running the show is incredibly sketchy.

You also can’t drop their vehicles off at any other Uhaul location - unsure why. So moving from Toronto to Oakville has been inconvenient since I can’t drop the vehicle off in Oakville at one of their locations.

Not looking forward to paying later this afternoon! Excited for all the hidden fees I get charged!

I rented a cargo van last Friday for 6 hours, I returned it with doble of gasoline, the van was very dirty,
Then when I returned it the guy said my balance was for $53.84 but I realize next day I got another charge of my credit card for $89.16, I been asking them why and they didn’t said a word. They don’t know.at the end of the day this u- haul is three times more expensive than others like discount, enterprise etc one star is to much for this robber bandits

Their Android app is full of bugs. If you had issues use the web version. I couldn't find my Van and ended up asking the staff to do a manual pickup which took almsot 30 minutes. Don't forget to fill the gas, costed me $30 service fee + $16 gas for 16km.

The last time I went there to rent a truck was awful (2 months ago) I remember I tried to do the mobile pick up and the lady who was there didn't allow me to do it and she made me wait for nothing. She just need to gave me the key, that's it. NOW, IT WAS SMOOTH AND PERFECT! (July 4th, 2020) I was so happy that I gave it a 2nd chance to this location. The 2 guys who were there (1 in the counter the other outside) did a great and professional job. Thanks so much to improve your service. I'll definitely recommend it. It took me like 10-15 min to pick up the truck using the mobile pick up. (I was reading some comments before mine, and I really don't know if the lady was still working there and I just had lucky to go when she wasn't there, but still it's worth it to give it a shot. For sure, I'll continue coming there. Maybe next time I'll call before to rent if the lady is there or not in order to make a decision lol)

Terrible customer service. The employee didn't know how to use the system, took a long time to find my reservation. Told me I couldn't bring back the truck the same night because they were waiting for a lot of trucks to come in and there would be no parking place. Wanted me to bring in the truck the next morning. I said I couldn't do that and there was some parking space when I came back anyways. I received the receipt the next morning by email and they overcharged me. I called twice to get it corrected. The guy told me he would correct it by the end of the day. He then called me later to tell me it would be corrected the next morning. I don't know if it will ever be corrected. Just don't go there!

Had a great experience renting from this place. Rental was clean, half tank ready to go. No pressure on up-selling insurance or accessories. Charles was quick to check me in and get me rolling faster than the self service location.

The office is located in a basement with all the vehicles parked in a back alley. Some people call it sketchy, I call it smart. Keep the overhead low, and prices will stay low. I don't know why people complain about the place. It's not like they are moving in. You spend 5 minutes and you're off. A lot of places run Uhaul franchises for extra side money by utilizing their space for parking and existing staff for support. You can't expect to get rich off of it and there's no need to spend top dollar on expensive rent to please a customer for 5 minutes. Charles runs this place smart.

Pro Tips:

Make sure you measure the gas level on a flat surface. If the vehicle is facing downwards on a slope, it will appear like there is more in the tank.

Confirm rental start and finish time. Take pictures of KMs start/finish. Reset the odometer so you can see the mileage accumulate.

Change your GPS settings to shortest distance instead of quickest to save on KM rate.

Don't underestimate your reservation time. If you think it will take more than one day, book it for two days. They rely on you to bring back the vehicle for the next person. If someone else is waiting for your rental, you might not be able to extend it.

At the end of the day, I was charged exactly what I expected and no hidden fees. There is an environmental fee that Uhaul corporate imposes on all dealers but this location only charges $1 per day. I hear other places charge the maximum $5.

I will be back again.

Very negative energy at this location. You can just feel it as soon as you walk in the door, these people are ready to fight you. Very unfriendly and not helpful. Do not consider the return policy at this location. They do not do "nationwide" returns OR exchanges. Will never come here again.
