Uncle Tony's

I went to Uncle Tony’s with 10 people including 4 children of 11 years old. Everyone including all the kids loved their meals. There are also some good vegan dishes. It is expensive as most meals are $25 or more.

Went to Uncle Tony's with some girlfriends before a night at the theatre. Walking in, I felt like I had instantly transported to Italy. The decor was comfortable and charming.

I had the tortellini special, which was delicious. I would have liked to get a side salad or garlic bread included. The wine list was pleasingly varied and included some good wines at reasonable prices. For dessert I had the cheesecake, which I highly recommend.

I will definitely go back to Uncle Tony's.

Good- but not great. My wife/I have passed Uncle Tony’s many times on our walks as we live in the area. But I believe they are worthy of their 3.7 ️ Google rating & I would say my rating/review would be the same…

The pizza/pasta was good-but not great. I’ve had better Italian meals at several other Italian restaurants in the city with much bigger portions as well for same price point at Uncle Tony’s. Vagabondo comes to mind instantly.

They do not have a cocktail menu when I asked for one. The server/manager said “I could make anything you want! ” That’s great but I like to see ingredients of said cocktails & of course the price point as well. It doesn’t really help me when he says he can make “anything! ”

The tiramisu dessert was very good though. My wife said it was the best part of the meal. The ambience & atmosphere are also very relaxing/nice. But that’s only part of the experience. The food/service is what really makes the restaurant great! Again- good but not great…

Why doesn’t this place have higher reviews? ! The server was SO nice and friendly, food was well priced and GREAT quality.

Worst place ever…

Never never going here. Staff was very rude and was told that if we share the food needs to pay $6 extra. This is ridiculous… A very unwelcoming place. There are a lot of better places…

Terrible attitude from the staff. Will charge you 6$ per person if you share the food you order. Really disappointing

Decent food but horrible experience with the staff. The guy was not at all welcoming and was very rude when I requested for a carry bag. Wouldn't recommend going here with the family.

The owner is as rude as one could be. He didn't stop ranting about customers the whole time. The food was average at best and expensive. Will never come back.

Loved the aesthetic, it was very cute and I loved the huge red booths in the front (got to sit in one). While the food was delicious I was disappointed with the amount of food for the price. I got Nonna's meatballs (so good) but since there were only 3 and they cost $16 I thought they would be larger then normal meatballs but they were not. The tiramisu was to die for, omg so good.

LOVE this place! Super delicious Italian food and the portions are amazing! Starting to get popular so definitely book.

A beautiful little restaurant serving the absolute worst “italian” food I have ever had. We shared some inauthentic and overpriced pizzas that had our table vexed as to how this restaurant has survived this long.

We had a reservation for 4 people. 2 of us arrived 10 mins early and they asked us to ensure that the other 2 people arrives in 10 minutes or otherwise we couldn't get a table.honestly stay away from this place.horrible treatment

Jumped in for dinner and loved it. We always walk by and decided to give it a try! Food was solid, nothing too fancy, just a good hearty meal. Chicken Parmesan was simple and hit the spot, pesto pasta had great depth of flavour. This is a great spot if you want something casual and filling. We will be back!

Came for a pre-show dinner on a Sunday evening. The service right out of the gate was off.nobody bothered to greet or seat us, despite having a reservation. Eventually after 5 minutes standing in the doorway trying to make eye contact with a server, we just sat ourselves. Ordered a cocktail which was absolutely awful (surprised an 'italian' restaurant couldn't put together a decent Negroni). Wine is ridiculously overpriced. We ordered a chicken parmigiana which tasted like it was re-heated in a microwave (no crispiness on the chicken, spaghetti was overcooked and bland). The pizza was decent, but not great. The place is under a new management and it definitely shows in the quality of the food and service. Would not go back - if you want quality italian food, there are plenty of alternatives in the neighbourhood

Enjoyed a quiet Sunday evening dinner at Uncle Tony's. Everything was delicious, and they were gracious in accommodating my request to change the veal marsala to chicken. Will be suggesting Uncle Tony's for friends and family visiting from out of town.

Absolutely terrible experience. I made a reservation for 7: 15pm, got there at 7: 20pm and my table was given away! When I asked how that was possible, I was given attitude and told of people don’t show up within 10 minutes of their reservation their table is given away. When I told him we were less than 5 minutes late he didn’t budge and instead said “you have a phone right, why didn’t you call us then? ”

Incredible food, amazing customer service. Came here with 5 of my girlfriends for my birthday and they made it extra special and went above and beyond what could of ever been expected. If you’re looking for a great Italian restaurant, you found it! I will 100% come back here when I’m downtown Toronto!

Went here for a family outing. We haven’t been downtown for awhile so all of us were excited. However the excitement immediately dwindled as the owner was extremely rude when we showed up with our two children. He said we should not have booked for 4 people through open table if 2 of those people were children. This is because open table charges them per person. I understand that he is feeling the pinch of open tables policies. But he should take that up with open table not us. It was like we were 4 years old being scolded by a strict parent. Also our children are of age that they do not sit on our laps so how would we book a table when we need four seats. On top of that who’s to say they don’t eat as much as adults. Because they eat more than me sometimes. If the owner knew I was only going to have soup he would have berated me for not being worthy of my 4 dollar surcharge from open table.

Other than that. The food we ordered was good and our sever was great. But because this was our first time here the initial greeting really put a bad taste in my mouth.

Food was good but service was horrible. Having a policy where everyone has to show up in order to get seated is ridiculous - it wasn’t busy at all. Lots of side eye from the owner. There’s other places for a night out

Despite the ordinary, small and overpriced food, the cherry on top was the rude waiter who shockingly strated fighting loudly with my friends over the tip he got from them (10% tip)!
Not sure if he was also the manager or not, but I hope someone teaches him the fact that tipping is voluntary and it totally depends on the quality of food, quality of service and the attitude your customers receive! If you’re not happy with the tip, you can be a civilized human being and simply ask the customer why they were not happy! Starting a fight and yelling at your customers in front of everyone in the middle of your restaurant is never ever accepted!

My partner and I found this gem when we moved into the neighbourhood and it quickly became our favorite! We order from here at least once a month. Food is always fresh and hot, great portion, and so much flavor. Chef’s kiss, 10/10 would highly recommend

Not that being an Uber driver is bad, but the staff just straight up assumed that I was and didnt ask if I was a customer or not, before trying to hand me someone else's dinner delivery order.

Didnt receive an apology for the mix up either. Instead, I was questioned whether I had a reservation or not (which I did), and when I said my name they didnt check it against any system, so I'm not sure what that was for.

The staff didnt clarify that the "flat" water was mineral and that I'd be charged for it - felt ripped off.

Food was alright at best. Be more considerate of the service

Booked a reservation using the open table app. Reservation was confirmed. Travelled across town to eat at the restaurant only to be met at the door and told it was a private function.
They confirmed my reservation and they had my contact info. Why not reach out and let me know they couldn’t accommodate me?

Awful food! Waaaaay overrated! You can actually taste how low quality and cheap the ingredients are! You feel like the place is not as clean as it should be, and the lights are dim so you don’t see it!

Finally got to visit this place after 5 years when walking past during my college days. I was captivated by the dimmed environment, candlelit dining room that gave off a homey comfort feel with a 1950s take of a jazz bar and a mix of traditional plaided tablecloths to seemingly bring out the Italian-ques.

The owner seem happy to see guest as business seem slow due to construction that prevents people like myself from noticing the dimmed romantic scenery. There seem to be regulars and common visitors that frequent by the owner recognizing the guest. Which made it feel like a place people favoured. Which was a nice to know that the establishment goes beyond the food, but the culture.

The dish we got - i had the gnocchi mushroom special and shrimp risotto. Was amazing, the gnocchi was creamy but wasnt too strong or heavy and gave off a nice coating to the gnocchi.

On a negative note,

The garlic bread was alright - seem like it was overcooked (burnt on two pieces), tasted like bread you could get from any grocery store. Additionally, it had a something stuck to the bread.

Cheese cake was also alright. The cake seem unchilled. It didnt seem it sat at the right temperature due to it tasting old and melted upon touch or broke apart too quickly in a crumble rather than a nice clean cohesive bite.

Made a reservation for 4 people on open table. Got confirmation. Walked 20 minutes. Found out they were closed. What a joke.

Excellent! First patio or any restaurant dining for me in just short of a year. We couldn't have chosen a better place to go. The food was outstanding.rice balls with cheese and tomato sauce for a start. We shared a great salad, and then the Funghi Pizza. We were totally enjoying our food, and our patio seat was comfortable. The service was friendly and helpful, the wine was Canadian and very good. I can't wait to go back and enjoy an indoor meal in a cozy place that is full of charm.
I would recommend Uncle Tony's for any occasion.

Friendly staff and follow covid protocols very well. Good choices for wine. Overall, a great place to dine.

Service was severely sub-par, a shadow of their former selves. We came as a walk in seeking dine-out or dine-in service and they seemed uninterested in providing any sort of accommodation. Won't be wasting my time with this venue in the future.

Incorrect Italian words in the menu are just a heads up how bad the food is. I was tempted to order pizza but when a pizza came to a table near by I changed my mind. Ordered a tagliere of salumi and cheese and it was almost inedible. Salumi looked old and bland. Parmesan chunks were not even Parmesan to me. Some random leftover cheese and salumi put in the plate. Ordered a branzino. A small fillet came up with a thick layer of veggies and potatoes at the bottom. The fillet looked so unappetizing that I couldn’t eat a bit of it.

Nothing special, food (Taste, ingredient quality and presentation) was mediocre at best. There are a lot of better options. Disappointed with the quality of ingredients. When paying $29 for seafood risotto one would expect better quality seafood (tasted like old frozen cheap bagged rubbery seafood was used) the rissoto was soggy and not great. We also ordered a gnocchi. The gnocchi was very tender but mushrooms and olive oil were low quality. Also the Parmesan cheese tasted like Kraft and not freshly grated.

On the positive side the service was very good our server tried to please. The kitchen made a mistake with the gnocchi and quickly brought out the correct one.

It seems the manager is very stressed, he was arguing with another customer last night on the patio telling her to go away.

Inexplicably rude service from the manager. They would not let us order until our full party arrived, one of the guests was 5 minutes late. Even though the patio was half full and had zero foot traffic, the manager kept stating that it was busy and if the 3rd wasn't arriving he would move us to a smaller table. We offered to order their meal in advance if it was a problem and the manager said that he "would rather have empty tables than to accommodate" and that this mentality was standard in the business which is simply untrue. As a result we just left and found a place across the street that went over and above to accommodate us even though they were fully booked.
Would give 0 stars if I could.
