Horrible experience. The woman at the front was rude and sarcastic. Half of the items that we bought in checkout were not put on the receipt! The quality of the uniforms is awful!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service! I should’ve read the reviews and checked Google before attempting to contact this company. Seeing all the bad reviews, reconfirms the horrible service you will receive and quality of goods (as it appears).

I had a credit that was owed prior to Covid. Fast forward, I recently called and experienced very poor customer service. There was no indication that there was an expiry date on the credit, verbally or even on their invoice. The gentleman (perhaps the owner) said with an attitude that nothing that can be done as their system only dates back 24 months. There was no further attempt to try and understand or help. He asked if I held a receipt and at first I thought no and was told it would be on the system. After we hung up after a dreadful conversation, I was able to retrieve an electronic copy of the invoice. I forwarded the copy. My response was, “although there appears to be a credit of sort “ there is nowhere to allot the credit to and therefore can not do anything. He continues to accuse me for being at fault by stating “As the claimant, the burden lies with you, to find all documentation in support of your claim. What you presented was one slice, a snapshot of your claim” Apparently an invoice or receipt is not sufficient enough for a credit.

I empathize for those who have no choice but to order from this horrific company. Minimize what you can order from them as it’s clear the kind of service you will get and avoid any such “credits” that may be offered at the time.

A new order for size 2 (the pant on the left) they say is the smallest they have! We had been using the pant on the right since March which is also a size 2. A lady at the reception repeatedly said the pant would shrink with a wash. A man had called my husband a week ago to say they had ordered a pant of size 4 instead of a size 2 and so we went to pick up the corrected order a week later to get this! Disappointed!

I know there’s a lot of negative reviews which actually worried me but honestly I haven’t had any issues with the quality or service. I’ve washed the polos and cardigans twice a week for the past 8 months and there has been no piling. Recently I had some concerns regarding sizing and Gilbert was very kind with my complaint and was willing to exchange the sizing for me. I hate the $20 shipping fee but I’m sure it’s out of their control.

Unifor basic basically stole my money. I ordered some uniforms from them, paid in full and the order never was delivered. Be careful with them. Never pay in advance.

The customer service at this business is HORRIBLE! The owner is down right rude and unfair in his policies. Be aware of his sales antics. I have three children in high school and have bought clothing from here for years. Never again will I step into this store! Geez, I can't even give a zero star rating here which is what it deserves.

A bit more expensive than the other uniform shop but the quality seems to be better. Majority of the clothing is unisex but they do have a small variety in female slim fitting. No need for appointment which is nice.

The lady that helped my daughter and I was very helpful and nice. Gilbert was very nice to all the other customers but when it was my turn to cash out he was very short with me, made me feel like he didn't want to serve me. The only difference between me and the other customers was the colour of my skin. He was super nice to the lady in front of me, as soon as I got to the cash he didn't even look at me, and was rushing me to leave. I even confronted him and ask why he was so nice to the other lady but so short with me. He replied that he's under pressure. I did not feel welcome in this store.

We ordered uniform in two parts - two weeks before school, and a week before school. Despite of being uber busy, the company made ALL items within a week - twice faster than advertised. So we could drive there one time not two for a pick up!

The Montessori Country School utilizes Uniform Basics for all our Casa and Elementary uniform needs. We have found the customer service with our administration and school community to be exemplary. We have experienced prompt service from initial set-up of our account through to ordering needs on behalf of our families. Shirts are very thin material, buttons start unravelling right away, sweaters are acrylic (no wool), pants are a rayon blend, prices are very high for low grade sweatshop imports. This is really low grade clothing being sold for $30 a piece and up. I can't fathom who is putting 5 star reviews up there, but I can't imagine it's anyone who is spending money at this dump.

The owner Gilbert is the rudest man ever! He is unprofessional.all his uniform pieces are out of stock for over six months. He told me that it’s mid September and what did I expect. He has a retail store that’s opened to the public. What did he expect? All parents will buy uniform months ahead. He’s an old man with extremely bad customer service skills. His uniform material lacks quality and he never has any sizing available. His store will close down soon. Terrible human being. A grumpy man!

While the shipping timelines were great and consistent, the products from this store are costly and not exactly great value for the price. The sizing is very bizarre, no consistency whatsoever. Definitely ask for measurements prior to ordering so you aren't stuck with having to send the items to a tailor to actually make them just wearable. It also looks like they slap their brand label on the items and that the products are mass purchased.

We have been using Uniform basics for 2 years at both our schools. We have been extremely pleased with Gilbert's prompt responses and pleasant and courteous dealings with our parents. The uniform quality is also great especially for the price point.

The whole experience from beginning to end was great. Gilbert is a delightful, polite gentleman. The clothing came in the mail as promised, nicely packaged. Any communication with Uniform Basic’s Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The clothing is of excellent quality. The school logo beautifully embroidered.

Was helped by a lovely young woman, so service was good. But, it's ridiculously overpriced. It was my 1st time buying uniforms so I wasn't sure what pieces I could get somewhere more affordable. But, was told both Carters & Walmart have uniforms. The only thing is, the shirts & sweaters come crested, so, would still need to get those pieces there.

The worst quality. Purchased 2 pairs of school pants, zippers broke within 2 weeks, the owner refused to fixed or refund. Will never shop there again

First, do yourself a favour and urge your school to find a new supplier.

Owner is deceitful and sneaky, has absolutely no business ethics as evidenced by numerous other reviews. He is greedy, doing whatever it takes to fill his pocket with your money. Keep that in mind when you shop here - as to experience, quality, return policy.

I made the mistake of buying all of my daughter’s uniform pieces at this store. Even the tights. Being unsure of the size, we decided to try Trimfit size 4-6, therefore bought one pair. We later returned to the store to get the size up. As I was looking through the stock, the saleswoman came and indicated there were no Trimfit size 6-8. So she herself picked out the size - a non-branded, knock off of the Trimfit line without absolutely no labelling as to size. I paid for my order, and received the receipt, indicating that I had purchased size 6-8.

That first day my daughter wore the tights, I compared them against the small ones, and then happened to look at the tag. To my surprise, they were size 4-6 instead of 6-8. No wonder they were way too small.

I contacted the store to speak with the saleswoman, however, the owner indicated he handles all returns (which means nothing). I explained my situation and explained that I would like to come by to exchange them for the proper size.

The owner’s response - we can’t accept worn clothing. Fair enough. However, this was the mistake of the store and employee. So would you not make an exception upon recognizing the error of your store/employee? So I asked him again - how will you fix the situation? Again, he rhymed off his so-called policy totally ignorant of the issue: 1. I was sold a product that does not match my receipt, 2. The saleswoman handpicked the wrong item for me, 3. The packaging does not even indicate size. The only way I discovered the issue is by my daughter trying on the product. I tried multiple times to address the issue with this owner. In the end, his arrogance and short sightedness prevailed. He could not follow the logic or was just downright ignorant. Possibly both.

Beware that this owner is deceitful - how many others does he take advantage of on a daily basis? Absolutely no integrity or business ethics.

They do not follow standard sizes. Size 2 in girls blouse runs bigger for 3 yo while size 4 in tunics and polo fits right for the very same 3yos. Bad sizing and extremely bad customer service. No refunds, no returns, no exchanges.
Upon calling their business number, person responded very rudely and had no solution to my sizing problems!

If your school asks you to place an order online with Uniform Basics, you should encourage them to go for another option.

Uniforms should be based on same color and style (patched logos should work instead of inscribed)
With school logo inscriptions 1 uniform set costs atleast a CAD 150 (for a toddler that certainly needs 3 pairs easily). A total rip off!

Sep 3rd 2018: uniform received after 2-3 weeks of placing an order. Size looks better yet stitching is too bad. See images that I’ve uploaded for the tunic. Brand new, the belt is already loosing its stitch and this tunic costs $40. At various place thread has knots and overlaps very untidy stitching. Tags are itchy, uniforms should be tag less. The logo inscribed is so itchy and uncomfortable from inside with no cover or padding.

Bad business ethics and no such thing as "being nice" to customer. Tried to exchange skorts that are too big and d*** head owner told me "I didn't comply with terms of agreement because I cut the tag off". Granted it was on their website, but they suffer no loss for an exchange as it hasn't been worn or washed. Only the tag was cut off. Uniform Basics and d**** head owner is using the monopolized deal with the schools listed to get away with unethical business methods (by putting such harsh return policy). Be careful to not cut off the tag. D**** head can learn to lighten up. Honestly, I hope his business fails! Let a kinder retailer have a chance!
