Dear Unionville Arms Management,

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and disbelief regarding the experience my friend and I endured at The Arms tonight. The level of unprofessionalism displayed by our server, Thadcha and bartender (I believe his name is Gill) has left us questioning the standards and integrity of your establishment, which we have been loyal to for several years.

Our evening started on a sour note as Thadcha repeatedly delayed taking our orders, opting to sit down at a table and neglect her responsibilities (which had unfortunately happened most times she has been our server). This negligence persisted throughout the night, culminating in an absurd rush to close the restaurant prematurely.

We were informed that the kitchen closed at 9: 30, and we were hurriedly presented with our bill at 10: 00PM during the supposed last call. This rush was inexplicably enforced as staff began stacking chairs around us at 9: 30PM, creating an uncomfortable and unwelcome atmosphere.

Thadcha's attempt to take away a half-full drink, accompanied by the remark, "Sorry ladies, we're closed, " was not only disrespectful but also contradicted the posted operating hours, which clearly indicated closing at 12PM. When we questioned this inconsistency, Thadcha informed us that closing hours depend on "who is there that day. "

Our request to wait 10 minutes inside for our ride, given that we are two young girls in our early 20s, the late hour, and freezing temperatures, was met with an audibly dismissive conversation between Thadcha and Gill from across the restaurant. Gill, who refused to address us directly after asking to speak with him twice, asserted that we weren't allowed to stay because "last call was an hour ago, " leaving us stranded outside in the cold. Thadcha said that she lived in Oshawa and he lives in Toronto so they both just wanted to go home.

The lack of professionalism and empathy displayed by your staff, including Gill's refusal to engage directly with customers, was not only shocking but also deeply distressing. We felt like an inconvenience from the moment we walked in, an experience further exacerbated by the confusion and dissatisfaction of three other surrounding tables.

Being escorted out by Thadcha while Gill observed and a busser peered at us from the back, exemplified a level of customer service that is not only unacceptable but also deeply disappointing. As seasoned servers ourselves, with over 8 years of experience, we understand the importance of respecting restaurant hours and maintaining a welcoming environment for patrons. We tipped well and ensured ahead of time that we checked restaurant hours so we wouldn’t be burdening anyone with staying past closing time.

As previously loyal customers, our intention in bringing this to your attention is not to tarnish the reputation of Unionville Arms or be a “Karen”, but rather to prompt a serious review of the service standards within your establishment. We trust that you will take immediate and comprehensive action to rectify these issues, ensuring that no other patrons experience the distress we faced tonight.

The best pub anywhere! Tom and Paul, the owners DO NOT DESERVE A 5, they get a 10 from us. They care so much about their customers, always greeting you with smiles and handshakes. They have the best food, friendly environment and the best staff, Paddy, Kat and Michael to mention a few.

Very disappointing nachos. They add a dinner plate to make it look more substantial. Not worth $20 not even worth $15.

Ordered a club and half the sand-which was missing chicken. Some more care needs to be taken in the kitchen.

Had lunch here in the patio a couple weeks ago.the service was absolutely amazing! Our server and hostess were very friendly and super accommodating. Burger and fries were good and good portion size too. I will definitely be back!

Visited Unionville for the first time. Sat in the outdoor patio area. Service was great my only issue was the grilled chicken panini. 'Where's the chicken'. For the price I would have thought a nice piece of grilled chicken would be on it. Instead it was a very thinly slice of chicken. Very disappointing. However the liver and onions special was a great portion. So no idea why they skimped on the chicken: (

I simply love their dishes. I always get great customer service here. The place is well organised and the employees are always super friendly. Keep up the good work.

Arms is one of the best places for the money and company in Markham. It’s so sad that I have to write this. Going in to have dinner they refused to offer an ETA for a time that we could be sat because they were at capacity. We offered to start on the patio if they would move us inside (risking rain) when a table became free, the host told us that if we sat outside he would not move us in stating, “I want to maximize my dollar”. On top of all of this his attitude was dismissive and horrible.

Great little pub for fresh pub food, cold fresh beer and professional service. Awesome patio for summer. Quant wooden interior for the Winter. Always a great time. Tons of parking in the back. Shout out to the lead bartender Gill. He is a great guy and always pumps drinks out with a smile.

Under cooked burgers - made us sick the next day. Waitresses are unavailable and rude. We went through our whole dinner without being served WATER.

Amazing atmosphere, and very hospitable environment. Ran by the great Brothers Tom and Paul, this fine establishment has friendly service from head to toe. These gentlemen aren't just purveyors of great mustaches, they have an excellent menu with a quick and skilled kitchen staff. From the friendly seasoned veteran, Gil, to a younger bar staff like Ornela and Ben, this place is the best. My favorite bar ever, and I'm very happy that it is open for business again today. I highly recommend the calamari, the halibut, the prime rib beef, and pretty much everything else; their hamburgers are sensational! Even the chicken wings are premium pub grub, with just the right amount of sauce. I absolutely love this place, and I wish the Vasilovsky family years of more success. #BestBarEver
