University Health Centre / MediOne Physicians Keele, Family Medicine and Walk-in Clinic

Nothing against the doctors at this clinic. However, this complaint is about the receptionist. My girlfriend called around 2pm to ask if the doctor was still accepting walk-in- patients for the day, because all she needed was a prescription. She was told to come for 3: 30. We arrived at 3: 34 and was told “yeah… it’s 3: 34”, we were only 4 minutes late due to traffic and she had to take time off of work to come. The reception then goes on about “yeah he just saw the last patient for the day”. I don’t understand why telling my girlfriend to come for 3: 30 then if the doctor won’t even see her. The reception then proceeds to “message” the doctor to see if he would take my girlfriend in and was denied. The reception couldn’t even call to let us know before hand that he wasn’t taking anyone anymore or shouldn’t have told her to come in the first place for 3: 30. Wasted our time and didn’t have the decency to notify us.

It was my first time visiting this clinic and I had an awesome experience. The receptionist was welcoming and helpful, the doctor was accommodating and understanding and the pharmacy staff were quick and efficient. Thank you!

Lovely staff and even lovelier doctor

I was blessed with the opportunity to see Dr. Tong on short notice for a flu shot. He comforted me throughout the way short of holding my hands, no tears!

Their handling of the covid protocol was up to snuff and excellent experience overall

The name is really misleading as it just happens to be a health center near a university.
They do not charge you the *OHIP rate* if you have any other insurance other than OHIP as you are considered uninsured which doesnt justify the 35 dollars (total 75 dollars) they charge over the standard ohip rate since its a written bill not even printed but that must be the general "administration fee".
Also walkins kindly be advised that you are billed by them for doctors appointments under A007 which is an intermediete consultation and not A005 *go check out your coverage rates online*
As many students would have uhip its weird that they do no accept that but thats cool.
All in all if you have OHIP, you can go here i guess but youd have better options, but youre better off going to a preferred network provider even though the ratings of this place seem to be good but the front staff doesnt have the time to deal with your concerns which defeats the whole concept of a health service but ok.

I never wait more than 10 minutes when i visit this walk in clinic even without an appointment. The staff is very friendly and they really care for you. Always clean

I highly recommend this clinic for those in the area! I needed to see a doctor urgently since I live in the area and my family doctor is relatively far, so I decided to try this place out. Check in was quick and I was put in a room right away. Dr. Tong was kind and efficient but also thorough.
Usually walk-in clinics have long wait times, but here I was done in around 20 minutes.

Dr. Kim is the best Doctor ever i had. Once you get her for a check-up or any diagnosis, you definitely realize she is careful, understandable, and explainable. She always wants to help her patients.

I literally spent 10min here. I went to the front desk as a new patient then she immediately sent me to room 2. Doctor Kim came in and she was soft spoken, I felt comfortable with her, very nice lady. She gave me the Tb injection and I was done.

This walk-in clinic is absolutely the best. The front staff is super polite, friendly, and efficient. Wait time is short, and Dr. Kim is very knowledgeable, caring, and patient. I've had the same condition countless times that requires further examination at a lab, and every time the physician said they'd contact me about the results but didn't. This is the first time I've received a call about the lab results and I am very grateful for that! Thank you to the whole team at University Health Centre:)

Amazing place nice and very warm team, especially Dr. Martin Tong very kind and he is taking care patients, this doctor change my thinking about Canadian health system.

Some staff and some Drs are not good to deal with. They're not upfront about their policies or process even with other healthcare professionals and are quick to pass judgment instead of being patient with people BUT I wouldn't dismiss the entire practice. Dr. Kim is a pleasure and she's kindhearted. There are weekend receptionists who are a gem to interact with instead of dismissing the patient/caregiver and they don't talk over you. So just proceed with caution because you immediately get labelled as rude when you ask them to listen instead of jumping to conclusions. Buyer beware

Dr. Kim is the most caring and dedicated doctor I have ever met. Plus, she is highly knowledgeable and competent. The front desk person is also always polite and welcoming. I never leave reviews but felt compelled to do so for her and this clinic's staff because I feel they go above and beyond for their patients. Keep up the good work!

Dr. Kim is the best, she is kind, caring and compassionate. You'd think all doctors are, but it's not always the case. Her staff is amazing as well, special mention to Madison.

I've recommended the clinic to my friends and family and I hope Dr. Kim could be my family doctor for a long time.

Dr. Tong is an excellent doctor. I went to the centre regarding a medical issue. After a thorough examination, Dr. Tong took the time to explain what the issue was. He also answered all my questions with great detail and dispelled any concerns that I had. The staff are also excellent, they spoke to me professionally and courteously. They also guided me through they next steps that I needed to do in regards to setting up appointments with medical testing. I will definitely be returning here should I have another medical issue.

Went in to get some referrals to get a few tests done on my injured shoulder. Dr. Martin Tong kept asking me if I had a family doctor and why didn't I have a family doctor even though they're in short supply and I was simply asking for a few slips to get some fairly routine tests done. He basically refused to help me and told me to get a family doctor which I'm not even sure is legal. Waste of time.

I don't normally leave reviews (ever), but I recently got this health scare that had me looking for a local location for my medical needs asap. (having a family doctor about an hour and a half, from my location it wasn't going to happen.) I'm glad I found Dr. Kim and her team @ University Health Centre. The moment we arrived we were greeted by Madison and were signed up quickly without any hiccups. It's been awhile me and my mom have felt welcomed, and even though they were quite busy both of us were seen. We value professionalism and competence. Madison's exceptional customer service and attention to detail had us ready to see Dr. Kim in no time at all.

Dr. Kim, was patient, understanding, and listened to our concerns. She made sure I was feeling quite well to proceed in informing us what tests needed to be done for further investigation. Dr. Kim is very polite, knowledgeable and cares. Nowadays most places want to get you in and out very fast and you're left feeling like your health doesn't matter. I appreciate how quickly I was called when our results came in. (didn't have to hunt around and get the go around to get my results.) I also appreciate how Dr. Kim made copies of all my results for me to keep. (I document everything.)

I definitely would go back any time and would also recommend anyone to go there. When it comes to your health, these extra qualities are a bonus. I haven't gone to my family doctor in many years and don't plan too either, however me and my family will stay with Dr. Kim and her team. I hope Dr. Kim can become our family doctor.

Dr. Kim was very sweet and saw me within 30 minutes! At 5: 30 too. The shortest wait I’ve ever had at a clinic!
They even called the next day to check up on me and got everything sorted

I'm speechless. This clinic goes above and beyond and checked everything thoroughly for my injury. I felt very cared for.

Dr. Kim was VERY helpful. The location is great because it’s very close to York university but significantly less busy than the Appletree walk-in on campus. I’ve had to wait 3 hours at the on campus one, this place I was in in less than 30 min and they apologized for the wait! Also I don’t know what language it was but the receptionist seems to speak more than one language if you are looking for a place that can accommodate non-native English speakers, I don’t know if the doctors are also bilingual though. Anyway Dr. Kim was very helpful, I have psoriasis, a condition a lot of walk-in doctors don’t even know exists but she not only knew what it was but also knew how to interpret my blood tests differently so a diagnosis of iron deficiency wasn’t missed. And she also knew how my medications could influence things and I asked her about anemia of chronic disease and she knew exactly what I was talking about. One of the most knowledgeable doctors I’ve been to. And if you’re worried about doctors that dismiss things on anxiety you don’t have to worry about that with her. I have a medication that can cause anxiety and she asked about it only to see if it might be making things worse for dealing with iron symptoms and even explained she wasn’t asking to dismiss it on anxiety but just to make sure it wasn’t making things harder for me and she listened when I explained I wasn’t getting the anxiety side effect of my meds I didn’t have to repeat myself once. It’s really a relief going to a doctor that really knows what they’re doing and won’t dismiss everything on anxiety. In the past I’ve had to go to 15 doctors to find one that wouldn’t dismiss me on anxiety when I wasn’t anxious and I was dealing with a serious medical condition. I nearly gave up after the 14th doctor that not only dismissed me on anxiety that wasn’t there but also gave me a serious anti-anxiety medication with no monitoring which is supposed to be required for the one he prescribed. I’m lucky I didn’t take the completely unnecessary anxiety prescription and the 15th sent me to a specialist and I got a diagnosis from the specialist so I know how good it is to have a doctor that understands being nervous around doctors doesn’t equal anxiety and no physical problems. I was worried about going through a lot of dismissive doctors when this new health condition came up but I didn’t have to because I saw Dr. Kim. It means a lot to me that I didn’t have to suffer for weeks until I saw a doctor like her. I finally got to just go to the doctors, figure out what was going on and get treatment.
