Dr. Kim stands out as the finest doctor I've ever encountered. As an experienced, compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated family physician, he always goes above and beyond to prioritize the well-being of his patients. Dr. Kim consistently presents a friendly manner, always taking the time to discuss various treatment options with me and ensuring I fully understand my medical conditions before leaving the clinic. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Kim to everyone for his exceptional knowledge and his caring, friendly personality. Additionally, the receptionist, Cici, is also very nice and friendly.

The worse clinic and worse UofT service! As a new international student I didn’t know where else I can go for my health concerns so I trusted UofT and went to their clinic. Then I met the rudest front desk ever who pressured me to tell her why I needed to see a doctor (so unethical) …and she went just all mean and judgy about my health issues! The doctor was also very rude and inpatient. That whole experience was very traumatizing! No one should be treated that way and be judged because of their health issues!
Just want to let new international students know that there are a lot of other clinics that accept UHIP and are actually professional and ethical!

I have been misdiagnosed. After seeing a doctor twice - his medication didn’t work.

I decided to do a blood test on my own and it revealed a virus.

I should report a doctor.

I have to pay a fee by call and I tried several times already, they never pick up! This is on top of a full mailbox. Hire more receptions if you can’t handle the amount of patients you treat, or hire more efficient receptions based on the other reviews here. This is forcing me to go out of my way to pay the fees in person.

Extremely compassionate and professionally care. Thank you so much!
PS. Press floor 14 on the elevator!

The worst clinic. The waiting time is like two weeks, the receptionist is extremely rude, and the doctor don't wanna save your problem, but just finish your visit as quick as possible.

You pay a fine if you don’t cancel at least two business days before the appointment, but they can cancel the appointment in the morning on the same day.

Update: happened again the next day after they rescheduled yesterday.

This is probably the WORST U of T service I have ever had to deal with and I have been a student of U of T for over a decade. It is important that students can readily access available and top-notch quality healthcare services. The call centre approach to healthcare at U of T is not working. You can never get through to the phone lines when you call. The phone rings rings rings and goes to voicemail. When you do get placed on a hold, they redirect the call to voicemail. When you do get lucky and reach through to someone on the phone, the front desk staff are so rude and very short with you. To book an appointment online, your request must be reviewed first and can be declined with no reason provided as to why you are being denied from seeing the doctor. Imagine someone deciding for you that you don’t have the right to see a doctor. Why does this clinic think they have that power to deny access to healthcare? Who is determining whether a student can see a doctor and what are they using to determine this? A walk-in clinic should not be doing this. We are no longer mandated by the government to do COVID19 screens to access services at U of T & they seem to shame people from wanting to access health care.
I also really hate that the front desk staff are pressuring students to disclose why they want to see a doctor. This is a violation of confidentiality, and it is not any of their business why you want to see a doctor. You are not legally obligated as a front desk staff to know students’ medical issues and I really hate that U of T is encouraging receptionists to do this. The people who answer the phones at this service all need to be trained in customer service because they sound miserable, burnt out and rude and who wants to deal with that when you are feeling sick and tired. This entire U of T services sees to be reviewed and changed.

Absolutely useless. After 2 cancellations, I saw someone for diet-related sleeping problems (absolutely certain this is my issue). Instead of medications tho, they convinced me that I needed to see a therapist for anxiety instead. Like an idiot, I agreed.aannnd the referral for a therapist never even came. STILL CANT SLEEP!

I can understand why health and wellness has very mixed reviews, but I was very lucky to be treated by Dr. Christopher Richards-Bentley. He was extremely attentive, thorough, and compassionate. He explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and worked with me at a pace that I was comfortable. At the end of each of our sessions he always summarized everything for me and provided me with a list of positive takeaways! I was initially really apprehensive to seek out mental healthcare, especially because I know a lot of people who have had bad experiences going through health and wellness, but I was very fortunate to be treated by Dr. Richards-Bentley!:)

I'd give 0 stars if i can. The receptionist was extremely impatient and tried to interupt me in the first 5 second of the call. I was asking if I could schedule a personal health visit, and she said that it was no longer offered, and if I don't have a specific health concern then I should contact them when I do! And she hung up on me immediately, LOL! This is ridiculously rude especially given that this is a university facility serving its own university students. This receptionist should be fired immediately. I'm pretty sure though this was exactly the same person when I called them a year ago, so I'm never gonna call this place again. For anyone who "has a specific health concern", feel free to try your luck at this place, but for people who just wish to do a general health check up, you deserve some better places.

Got a next day appointment very quickly, less than 30 minutes of calling total. The appointment went very well and I got prescribed what I needed. Overall, very good experience; everyone was kind and professional. I will say this way during summer, so the wait time was much lower, but I think that most of the negative reviews here are unwarranted.

Maybe my issues were not too medically relevant but the doctor started with “we are running a bit behind, so it will have to be quick”. Completely unprofessional and baffling

I am a registered UofT student. I passed by the clinic and asked to use their weight scale. They made me wait for 30 minutes to get approval for a task that required 2 seconds in a mostly empty time of the clinic. The people here may be insane.

This is my third year as a grad student and I have been here many times. I haven't had a problem with booking. Both Dr Chin and Dr Strakacz are very nice and attentive. The nurses are also friendly.

The nurses here are not great… they are unreliable and not helpful, they are rude and dismissive. Quite disappointing considering this is the University of Toronto.

God this place is a disgrace. 1 hour on hold just to be told to leave a voicemail that is NEVER returned. U of T needs to stop being so stingy and actually start investing in the “health and wellness” of their students. This is embarrassing.

My doctor is wonderful, the policy here is not good. If you missed an appointment for medical reasons you still get punished for not going. Like what?
30 November 2022 13:07
It's like they don't care about their patients at all. All of my experiences have been frustrating, rude, dismissive. Took me over a month to get a prescription renewed and my pharmacy contacting them 3 times, plus me contacting them multiple times. Ran out of my medication and was dealing with related side effects and they didn't care and wouldn't help. Rude, mocking comments were made about my mental and reproductive health. I didn't know doctors could be this negligent. It's hard to find a GP in Toronto, but they are not worth your time at all. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
18 November 2022 6:29
Unrealistic! Never answer the calls! How can patient cancel the appointment in time without paying the fee!?
04 November 2022 10:59
I would say this is the worst service I had ever experienced. Regardless of the endless waiting time, the center canceled my appointment because they told me the doctor could not work in the university on that day. Since you could not work on Monday, why did you provide the time slot accessible to patient. Meanwhile, if our student canceled the appointment randomly, we need to pay for extra fee (around 30 CAD) each time. However, doctor could cancel patient’s appointment randomly without getting approval? Why there will be some unfair rules like this? Is it really a university organization that tries to serve students? Indeed disgusting!
14 October 2022 21:27
Impossible to get through on the phone line. You’ll end up waiting 50 minutes to get to next spot in line just for it to say “nobody is available right now, leave a message”. Making you pay $40 for a no show fee, yet it being impossible to call to cancel? There are great doctors here, but the administration aspect is so disorganized and understaffed that makes it extremely hard to access them.
