Our dog (Scottie) was experiencing an ongoing eye issue, and we were in search of a vet. I can gladly say that we found a great one. Dr. Rossi is exceptional! He was extremely kind with Scottie and very personable/informative with us. We are lucky to have found him and the clinic.

The staff is amazing! Our dog Baxter felt so comfortable with all the girls and was treated so well. Dr. Turpel is a terrific surgeon, the consultation and the post surgery follow up was extremely thorough. We knew Baxter was cared for very much! Thank you to both him and all the staff!

We brought our Italian Grayhound to Upper Canada Animal Hospital. Our dog had broken her leg a few months earlier, we chose to have her surgery in the US. Unfortunately we couldn't return to the original surgeon to perform the bandage change, we were told it would be fine if we used our local vet. Our local vet was not available so we decided to go here.

Upper Canada Hospital (NOTL) quoted $800 total. We had stressed that the splint and bandage MUST be duplicated as per the original surgeons instructions- below the elbow, toes visible. Dr Rossi had agreed to duplicate exactly per our instructions. I received a call shortly after from Dr. Rossi saying the procedure was a success and she was ready to be picked up. I asked Dr. Rossi to confirm the total bill amount. He confirmed the final bill matched the original quotation.

After arriving for pickup i am greeted with a new bill, $978.27. The receptionist informed me this is normal and the additional charge is a “consultation fee”. I informed her that a consultation fee is a foreseen expense and must be disclosed in the original quotation. She disagreed and told me to talk to the office manager. 1st Red Flag.

I paid the bill knowing i would have to dispute it later. After i picked up our dog i was confused. The bandage was not in any way what we discussed with Dr. Rossi. She was bandaged way up to her body and toes covered. She couldn’t walk at all. This is the exact opposite from what was discussed. 2nd Red Flag.

Jessica informed me to bring her back, the second time returning this office. Dr. Rossi told me that this is the way they do it and it may loosen up in time. No explanation as to why it wasn’t done per instructions. Shortly after i received word from the original US surgeon that this is not acceptable or advisable. We were charged almost $1000 for a simple splint/bandage change and they didn’t follow the agreed treatment procedure and now our dog cant walk.

We contacted the owner Dr. Turpel, as he was back from vacation, he agreed to correct the bandage. He requested we bring her back (a third time). I also brought to his attention that we were over-billed with a consultation fee that was not originally disclosed. He agreed and apologized. Even though Dr. Turpel was friendly i felt no consideration for our wasted time, now 3 trips to his office, this bothered me. More important than the over-billing is the 2 days off my job, using my resources to babysit his office and their mistakes. Third Red Flag.

Shortly after talking with Dr. Turpel i receive a call from Tracy, the office manager. She informed me it standard practice to charge a consultation fee. I informed Tracey that a consultation fee is a foreseen expense and must be disclosed on the original quotation, since it was not we are not entitled to pay for it, i then reminded her that her Dr Turpel had instructed her the refund was to be given without delay. She agreed but continued to argue that they did nothing wrong. Fourth Red Flag.

Back we go, round three. Drop our iggy off, Jessica gives the refund, and thats it. No one came to see us to apologize for wasting our time or creating a stressful experience. No Dr. Turpel, No Dr. Rossi. Fifth Red Flag. That was icing on the cake but it fits given our experience with them so far.

We get our Iggy back and the bandage is correct. But our dog was really confused and disoriented after the 2 doses of anesthetic in under 4 days (not good for her small heart).

In closing, our experience was bad. Over-billing, the ignorance of Dr. Rossi, the lack of respect for our time by Dr. Turpel, to the poor follow up by their office manager, this place was an unnecessarily stressful nightmare, i highly encourage you to reconsider bringing your loved ones here.

Dr. Jim and his staff are the epitome of commitment and attention to patient needs. The follow up is second to none and the process for treatment is seamless.

You were the only animal hospital who was able to see our cat today urgently. Thank you for taking care and helping my mom and Misty.
04 June 2023 20:02
We brought our dog Toby to the Upper Canada Animal Hospital because we had heard great things from friends and they highly recommended them to us. Just from our consultation, they put me at ease, they explained the procedure step by step, gave me a visual of what was going to happen. They were very supportive and caring. The environment was very welcoming and positive. The communication before and after the procedure was exceptional! Much appreciated! I was also thoroughly impressed when I picked up my dog, I was given a personal folder for Toby with his picture as well as an in depth explanation of his condition, procedure, and recovery. I want to thank Dr. Turpel and his amazing team for making Toby’s experience so amazing, with less fear and anxiety and for my family as well.
Thank you for your expertise, kindness and passion you show to your patients.
Upper Canada Animal Hospital has now become Toby’s home.
30 May 2023 21:22
Very great experience here. All the staff are professional and nice. Every part of my dogs surgery was explained in great detail from start to finish with excellent information on post operation care. Everyone seemed well qualified and interested in the care of my pet. I would very much recommend Upper Canada Animal Hospital to my family and friends.
28 May 2023 10:16
This is the second time we have used Dr Turpel and his staff to repair cruciate ligaments on our dog.
We can’t recommend him and his staff at Upper Canada Animal Hospital enough. The professionalism, care and friendliness by everyone involved in looking after our dog is second to none, and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future.
28 May 2023 8:17
Staff are all friendly, welcoming. They really care about the pets they service. Will give you advice but not pressure you. Really happy with the service that I will now take my other dog as well.

Dr. Turpel changed our dog Bruno’s life! Bruno (7 year old Cane Corso) needed CCL repairs in both of his hind legs. After trying different medications and therapies, we found Upper Canada Animal Hospital and we are so thankful we did! Almost 2 years later, Bruno is running around is very healthy! Thank you to Dr. Turpel and the amazing team at UCAH!
25 May 2023 5:17
Amazing. So much care and attention after my pups surgery. Friendly staff, easy to reach by phone
02 May 2023 5:22
My dog tore his CCL requiring surgical repair. My vet recommended Upper Canada and another surgeon closer to where I live. I chose Upper Canada based on the type of surgery that they elected to perform and based on the wonderful reviews left before mine. I am SO happy I made the decision to have Dr. Jim and his team complete the procedure for my dog.
I met Dr. Jim the day of surgery and I can’t speak highly enough of his knowledge, experience, his compassion, kindness towards myself and my dog. He took the time to explain things thoroughly with me about the procedure and I left my dog there feeling extremely confident that he was in the best care and I was not wrong.
I picked him up the next day, had a thorough review with Dr. Matt, again, very kind and took the time to explain things. The office staff are top notch, lots of calls to update me on my dogs progress and superb follow through by the team and Dr. Jim 48hrs later to ensure my dog is managing well after surgery. Highly recommend for anyone considering if they should take their pet here for surgery or otherwise. Thank you so much to the entire team for the kind compassionate care!

This experience has been so wonderful. I am grateful for all the care, concern and kindness that the team at Upper Canada has shown our kittens, and our family. They are invested in not only the care of our kittens, but in the relationship they have with all the members of our family. We are grateful and would recommend the team at Upper Canada to anyone.

15 March 2023 19:58
For months I was suffering in silence wondering what happened with my boy Zeus - he went lame and seemed to go downhill with time and nothing I was doing seemed to make a difference (hydro, other conservative methods)

Finding Dr. Turpel and his amazing team has legitimately been the light at the end of the tunnel for Andrew, Zeus and I.

You can tell everyone in this office is passion-oriented and precise. They are driven by their expertise in veternary care and their sincerity.

I only regret not knowing about this team sooner. They deserve the best because they are the best. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping our Zeus.
13 March 2023 7:32
Our 2 yr old chocolate Lab was seen at UCAH for a torn CCL. Upon our follow up consultation visit, the surgery was immediately scheduled and performed with the greatest care and expertise. Dr Turpel and his entire staff are incredibly kind, efficient and very professional. They take time for consultations and demonstrate outstanding communication skills, both pre & post operation. I highly recommend this hospital for your pet’s health care needs. They will be taken care of with empathy and respect, as well as the entire family.
05 February 2023 12:19
The team at Upper Canada is amazing! They treat my dog like she is one of their own. The staff are all wonderful and very helpful and caring.
24 January 2023 22:28
During a time of stress, nothing brought more comfort than knowing our sweet little dog was under the best care possible at UCAH during his cruciate surgery.

From the very beginning, the staff were so incredibly warm and helpful. Our consultation with Dr. Turpel was informative, friendly and didn’t feel rushed, and the in-depth discharge process was so helpful (including the detailed booklet outlining resources, a summary of the surgery and a daily checklist for rehab.)

We greatly appreciate the many touch points made throughout the surgery to ensure we were kept informed of the progress, as well as the follow up calls to check on how our dog’s recovery was coming along.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and I am so incredibly grateful for the professionalism and dedication shown by everyone at this hospital. I would not hesitate to recommend UCAH to anyone requiring veterinary services—they are unmatched in their dedication to providing exemplary service and medical care.
12 January 2023 23:12
Wonderful staff that are very kind to both myself and my dog Chloe. Dr Rossi explained about Chloe’s surgery and post op recovery with a lot of details. Dr Rossi was very patient with my questions. I would highly recommend this veterinarian hospital.
11 January 2023 6:57
We had a wonderful experience at Upper Canada Animal Hospital today. Dr. Rossi saw our cat Eddy and had him in same day for surgery on an infected wound. He stayed late to explain everything to us when we arrived to pick him up and his team members were lovely. Thank you for everything!
17 July 2022 1:08
Over the last week I had noticed some changes in my pet doodle Monty’s health and behaviour. UCAH took him in same day on emergency appointment. After a good history was noted, and thorough exam, the presenting issues were attended to and a treatment plan put together should symptoms continue. I’m glad I took Monty to investigate, it put my mind at ease.

We don't live in NOTL but my bulldog, Mason, needed a surgery and Dr. Turpel is known for a very effective procedure to treat that condition. With my previous vet, Mason had such severe anxiety that he would go into seizures any time the vet came near him. The first time Mason met Dr. Turpel, he was licking his face and jumping all over him. Even after surgery, Mason had no fear at his two follow up visits. The staff all use friendly voices and he responds so well to their demeanor - CLEARLY animal lovers (not just veterinary professionals). On the topic of professionalism, Dr. Turpel was extremely attentive - above and beyond he call of duty. He emailed and called multiple times to check up on Mason just to make sure he was doing well with recovery. His procedure was also highly effective - one surgery to 100% correct the problem versus the more common method which can take up to three surgical attempts. I wouldn't dream of putting him through more pain than necessary. I'm grateful to have found a clinic that believes in minimizing pain and anxiety. Obviously, we've had Mason's files transferred to UCAH and we'll gladly do the 45 minute drive for this level of service. Thank you to Dr. Turpel and the wonderful staff for putting Mason at ease.

Mason's Mom.

Our 4yr old dog, Floki, tore his CCL and our vet recommend Upper Canada Animal hospital.
We were apprehensive meeting the new vet but we were pleasantly surprised when we met him. Firstly, he introduced himself as Jim then he sat on the floor and played with Floki. He explained everything that he would be doing during the surgery and their "No Fear" philosophy.
We left Floki in excellent hands. Jim called us after performing surgery to let us know that everything went well and Floki was resting comfortably. His staff called again later to give us another update and a bit later I received a text and a photo of my brave little boy and the next day, yet another update.
We can not say enough about this practice.
5 stars are not enough to rate Upper Canada Animal hospital.
27 June 2022 19:57
My cat had knee surgery last week. Everyone was so welcoming and Dr. Turpel took his time to explain everything so clearly. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend Upper Canada and the team!
10 June 2022 15:54
Upper Canada ranks 10/10 in their care of our beloved Havanese dog, where he is treated like each staff person’s own pet. Everyone there is so caring and dedicated, and their services are at the highest professional level. His veterinarian is Dr. Erin Kanerva, and she is wonderful in every way. Not only is she focused on his health, but she ensures that every clinic visit is a happy experience for him. If he has had a health problem, she explores all treatment options, and we ask her what she would do if he were her own dog. We always get a follow up phone call from Dr. Erin the day after any procedure, or if he has been unwell, to check up on him. Our family is encouraged to phone with questions or seek advice at any time. We feel that Upper Canada's, and Dr. Erin’s, team approach ensures the best veterinary care for our dog, and this gives us total peace of mind in terms of his health.
23 May 2022 23:58
There is no other way to say this, they are absolutely amazing!
We took our dog Bear to have surgery on his knee, since we came from 2 hours away they scheduled the consultation and surgery for the same day. First they sent us everything we needed before the first meeting with them so we we’re well informed.
When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the staff, they knew who we were and why Bear was there, they actually read their schedules and know who is coming in and why.
When Dr Jim saw us he was like an old friend and did everything he could to inform us and give us comfort as to what Bear would go through, amazing.
Throughout the day we received several calls to update us on Bear, we were also told to call whenever we wanted to get additional updates.
When we picked Bear up they had a personal information pack ready for everything we need to do to rehabilitate Bear and all upcoming appointments scheduled.
That night we received a personal call from Dr Jim to check on Bear, and over the next couple of days the office called to check on us.
Dr Jim even gave us his personal email if we required any off hour questions answered.
I could go on and on but to keep it short do not hesitate to trust your pet with them, you are family.

If there was 10 stars I would have chosen 10.10 years ago our female golden had slipped on ice and required the TTA surgery. We searched back than and found Upper Canada Animal Hospital.
She did extremely well and we never had another issue with her leg again.
Our 3 year old Golden Retriever required the TTA surgery and we new right away where we would go to have this done.it has been 3 days and he is doing super.
We have found this Animal Hospital and everyone we have dealt with Absolutely amazing.
Thank you Upper Canada for giving us peace of mind that Cooper will be running around again soon.

The most caring and qualified surgeons, staff and friendliest I’ve ever dealt with concerning my furbaby. I would highly recommend upper Canada to anyone that has a furbaby that wants the best and caring care for your furbaby. After the surgeries the doctor calls you personally to see how they’re doing and also the staff calls you two days in a row to check up on you baby.
06 April 2022 9:31
Don’t know where to start with this review. Our Bichon, Willow just had her 2nd knee surgery last week and I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for Dr Turpel and the staff at UCAH. His professionalism, expertise and confidence, and his clear love for animals is above anything I’ve ever experienced. His willingness to make time to explain, and follow up is admirable. Last year we had Willows first knee done, and this year we had her other. I have the utmost confidence in the knowledge and confidence in Dr Turpel and his staff. They are true professionals and actually care. They make you feel like family. Thank you Dr Turpel. I really appreciate you. Im grateful that you and your clinic exist. Thanks for caring! UCAH is on top of the game. BAR NONE!

I recently switched my vet to Upper Canada. We have an 11 year old Pom who required dental work. Everyone is super friendly and very informative, from the front desk staff, the vet assistants to the vet themselves. At every step we have received thorough information, detailed reports and all our questions have been fully answered. Their follow up care and professionalism is superior. We are very happy to have dealt with Upper Canada and will continue to bring all of our pets here when needed. Thanks kindly

11 December 2021 20:07
I was referred to Upper Canada Animal Hospital by my veterinarian for a CCL surgery for my little guy, Opie. From my first call to UCAH to discuss our next steps, to the consult with Dr. Turpel & throughout the surgery, I have been amazed by their attention to detail and how they've put me at ease. The updates throughout the day of surgery, the personalized recovery plan they created for me and the follow-up calls to see how he's doing at home have been such a comfort, as I was definitely more nervous about everything than Opie ever was. He's just a few days post-surgery, but I'm very hopeful that we'll get through our recovery with ease thanks to how much they care. Everyone has been attentive and helpful with my questions and we are looking forward to our first check-up in a few days.

Thank you!
10 December 2021 22:27
The staff including Dr Turpel Is very understanding and knowledgeable. My furbaby was checked on even once we got home. My only issue is wishing i could payments. Such an expensive surgery was needed. So hard in this day and age to afford life!
07 December 2021 19:18
Quite simply THE BEST vet clinic in the Niagara Region. I have been a client for years, and my pets have received exceptional care. Dr. Erin K is compassionate and intelligent-I trust her beyond all measure. Checking in with Crystal, Sara and Beth is a pleasure and they take care of all our insurance needs and food orders. Vet techs are professional and know their stuff. They have helped us through a number of medical emergencies and treat our pets like family.
03 December 2021 23:08
The treatment and care was beyond my expectations. I highly recommend Dr. Turpel for anyone having to go through a CCL. The staff kept me at ease with updates throughout our stay.
16 November 2021 18:17
Dr. Trupel and all staff are A1. Our Diesel had a torn Cruciate Ligament repair. The care, compassion and professionalism this office gives is outstanding. I highly recommend this office. Great job team, keep up the hard work.
10 November 2021 18:47
This is our second experience with Upper Canada Animal Hospital & Dr. " Jim " Turpel.
Both hind legs had ruptured cruciate ligament repairs, known as a TTA. 1st surgery a year & 1/2 ago on R then L this year. Her recovery after 1st was remarkable.
Dr. Jim's expertise in this type of surgery is renowned and his reputation stellar.
The guidance provided for recovery exceeded our expectations with a very detailed booklet outlining everything.
Thank you to the staff who go above and beyond.
07 October 2021 7:12
I discovered Upper Canada while working with Golden Rescue in adopting my Golden boy Sully. Upper Canada has been incredible - the front desk staff and vet tech's are amazing, and Dr. Erin has gone above and beyond with Sully and his care. They are more expensive than other vets that I've used, but they also have provided the best care in my experience. Highly recommend!
16 August 2021 8:53
If I could give 10 stars, I would!

Our 1 yr old pug, Beau, needed surgery for a "Luxating Patella" this past April, and our vet referred us to a surgeon in Mississauga.while waiting weeks to hear from this surgeon, I started looking elsewhere and found UCAH. After 1 phone call, UCAH booked us in for a consultation & surgery a few days later, and also gave us a rough price estimate and recovery schedule so we knew what to budget and expect (which no other Surgeon would do, unless we paid for a consult with them).

The consultation with Dr. Turpel was amazing, and put us as such ease for leaving our baby girl with them for the surgery. He came to the parking lot for the consult, and took his time listening to our concerns and our dog's history, explaining the surgery/possible unexpected things he might run into, and answering all of our questions. With our own vet, we felt rushed, but with Dr. Turpel, we felt so respected and valued, and that he truly cared about our Beau. We trusted him immediately.

Everyone we interacted with at UCAH was so personable, kind and empathetic. They sent Beau home with a binder of paperwork, including a letter from Dr. Turpel on how the surgery went, next steps, recovery schedule, and other helpful information for preventing the same issue in her other leg. The icing on the cake was a selfie of Beau and a Technician printed on the front page of the binder. That just showed us how well cared for Beau was during her sleepover at UCAH!

They followed up regularly via telephone on how our Beau was doing, answering questions/concerns, and reassuring us that we were doing an amazing job (which meant the world to us). Dr. Turpel also made it very clear that we could contact him directly if something urgent came up with Beau.

All in all, Beau is now fully recovered from her surgery, and for the first time in 6 months, running around on 4 legs.happy and strong! We cannot thank Dr. Turpel, UCAH and their entire team, enough. I am so so thankful this level of expertise and specialization is in Ontario. HIGHLY recommended!

My doctor was very throigh with my dog and took plenty of time to figure out everything with my dog.
They were calling me for updates every second day.
Our doctor explained me everything and how to chnage my dogs diet to make sure he was well.
Very helpful, professional and through.
01 August 2021 14:46
This clinic is amazing, my dog had to acl surgeries. All the doctors are fantastic, helpfull and patient every step of the way. The surgeon is unbelievably incredible! He is the nicest and most kind veterinarian I have ever met.
29 July 2021 14:00
I really can’t say enough to capture how amazing this vet hospital is. I’m truly blown away by how kind, compassionate, and caring Dr. Turpel and all of his staff are. All the way from the initial consult to the post-op period, they were always available and willing to answer any question we had and even checked up on us on their own will. I’d have no doubt any pet is in the best hands here. We came out here from Toronto and it was 200% worth the long drive.
12 July 2021 8:22
I can't say enough about how amazing everyone at Upper Canada is! Every single member of the staff here are incredible and truly care about their patients. They always follow up and want to make sure that their patients are getting the best care possible. I had an issue that I forgot to mention in an appointment and they were more than happy to have a follow up appointment free of charge to have another exam done. They are honest and up front and seem to always follow latest evidence to guide their practice. I am very confident that my puppy is in good hands whenever I bring her here.
10 July 2021 19:11
We had entropion surgery done here a number of years ago for our chow, Kuma. Everybody was super polite and friendly. Nobody felt rushed and we were given all of the time we needed to have things explained thoroughly. I want to personally thank Dr Turpel one more time for doing such a fantastic job.
26 October 2020 5:21
I can't say enough good things about Upper Canada Animal Hospital with whom we've been dealing for the past 5 years. Their staff is absolutely amazing! Recently, our little poodle Liberty was showing obvious signs that she was really sick. I contacted Upper Canada, and Dr Erin, whom Liberty loves, called me right back to inquire about the symptoms and informed me I should bring her in asap. Once I got there, Dr Erin diagnosed her and explained what needed to be done. 24 hours later, our little pooch was back in tip-top form and as happy as can be. In the meantime, Dr Erin had even called me for a follow-up. That's awesome! Thank you all at Upper Canada Animal Hospital. You guys really do care.
10 October 2020 10:41
Today my Stanley went in for surgery for a Femoral Head Osteotomy. Dr Jim Turpel is a godsend (and his staff). When these professionals were created by the big guy in the sky he created perfection. I was a hysterical mess and these people helped me through one of the worst days of my life. To anyone reading this I just want you to know your babies are in the best hands. You never have to worry. Thank you again for everything!
14 September 2020 10:39
Rusty had the TTA surgery back in January. He is 5 years old and bounced right back. The staff are super friendly! Our surgeon was very knowledgeable able, took the time to answer all our questions! Highly recommend this clinic!
06 September 2020 9:53
Dr Turple and the team of everyone I came into contact with were absolutely the best. I have a large rather aggressive mastiff/rotti with a ACL tear, and they knew exactly how to handle him. I can't say enough good things about this Veterinary Hospital! If you need this or any service, THIS IS THE BEST MOST CARING VET IN THE COUNTRY!
04 September 2020 19:13
My 7 yr old chocolate lab mix, Ren, just had her second TTA done by Dr Jim Turpel and I can say without a doubt that him and his entire staff (Erin, Angela, Sara, Crystal, Tegan etc!) all treated her with the utmost of care and have made both surgeries go as smooth as possible. They are always available to answer questions, going above and beyond with the compassion and kindness they show. I would highly recommend this clinic to any pet owner not only in the Niagara Region, but all over Ontario. They are well worth the journey. Thanks again for bringing my girls smile back:)
21 August 2020 1:15
Dr. Turpel and his staff are FANTASTIC! I would highly recommend this clinic. Thank you for taking care of our dog.
23 June 2020 21:55
Unfortunately I did not share the good experience with this hospit alot of people are talking about. Last week my German shepherd was given an appointment for a surgery consultation. They pushed heavily for us to put a 2000 deposit and do a same day surgery before we recieved the appointment. We explained multiple times our dogs situation and that we really want to know exactly what's wrong before we send him for any kind of surgery.we are not even sure if it is his hips or his knee. We would just like the consulation for now please. They agreed. 18 hours before the appointment they called back to say they would not be seeing him as he didnt fall under the category of an emergency unless he is recieving same day surgery. I explained that we had this conversation last week and everything was fine. They said the goverment has changed the rules around what they can and can not do and they cant see him for a consulation only. I agreed but was greatly disappointed to find out from my normal vet and other vets just hours later that this is not true and they are more then able to do a consultation for a surgery legally. Just disappointing. I understand but wanted to share this experience as I told my wife I have a feeling they will call the day before and refuse to take him unless he gets surgery$$. Which happened. Every other vet I spoke with today said this sounds like somebody trying to take advantage of this covid 19 situation and gauge money. Which on an animals behalf, I sincerely hope is not true.

Yesterday our golden retriever Lucy had her last appointment after having ligament surgery in March. She has recovered nicely and is so excited to be able to lounge on the couch again! Thank you to all the staff that helped look after Lucy. And to Dr. Turpel thank you for taking the time to explain everything to me. Lucy is a member of our family and we are looking forward to many more years with her. Again thank you!

I can not say enough about the care my kitty received at this hospital, Dr. Turple is amazing! I was calling to leave a non urgent message at the hospital when Dr. Turple called me personally to ask about my cat, at 8pm after having dinner with his wife. Right from the beginning Dr. Turple offered me several other options and places to get second opionions. The staff truly understands that they are more than just our pets, they are our fur babies. From the reception, to the vet techs to the Drs, amazing! Steeler and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Dr. Turpel and Dr. Erin and the entire team at Upper Canada Animal Hospital have been amazing. My dog had major hip surgery and the results in one week are simply phenomenal. The surgery that should have taken an hour took about 3 or 4 because Dr. Turpel is such a perfectionist, he wasn't 100% happy with post surgery x rays, he decided to go back and make further corrections. Autumn had surgery one week ago and if it wasn't for the cone of shame and the stiches she'd be fully back to normal. The group at Upper Canada called daily for the first week and checked up on Autumn! I would never go anywhere else. I can’t thank you enough.

I never take time to write reviews, but I must after our visit today. Dr. Erin is exactly what you hope to find in a vet. Our pup Bogey had an appointment two weeks ago but was so scared that she gave us some anxiety meds to try and come back the following week, and even brought us outside to do the examination on this second visit. However we quickly realized that Bogey was still under too much stress so she suggested getting stronger meds and returning again in a week. Long story short, she exceeded all expectations by going above and beyond and meeting us in the car park out back without her “scary” white coat and administering his vaccines + doing the examination in the car. The visit was a total success and we can’t say enough good things about how she went about the situation and how she approached both us and our beloved Bogey. We appreciate her knowledge and advice and also the rest of the girls working in the office and are counting ourselves very lucky that a wonderful vet such as Erin is right around the corner from us. Bogey says thank you for being so patient and kind and putting my needs above all else, you’re the best vet ever.

Dr. Erin is the best vets I have ever come across! She is very knowledgeable! She gives me tips on training, anything that would be unusual about my pup, and even showing be different ticks and what to look for! My puppy is a 12 week old Husky, we only brought her in because she wasn't feeling well and it was the only clinic open at 8AM, when we did bring her in the Vet did a full examination and on top of that the place was extremely clean. I took my pup, Orca to the vet in St. Catharine's as soon as I got her just to make sure everything was good when we brought her back from the breeder. All they did was check her heart and cut her nails, they didn't even put a new blank down for her. At Upper Animal hospital Dr. Erin even went out of her way to ask if it was our first puppy together (although we both had family dogs, we never had a puppy on our own) and when we said yes she gave us different places that we should go for training if we were going to do that option, along with talk to us about grain-free diets, raw diets, and what would be best for our pup. The one thing that stood out the most, we when she asks what the breeder used for flea and tick, I did have to tell the front desk as I was waiting for a response. The following day she called me and said that the brand doesn't cover ticks! I contacted the breeder and he thought it covered both. If Dr. Erin didn't ask about the flea and tick preventative that she was given there was a chance that she could have got a tick that carried Lyme disease. By far the best Clinic and best vet around! A place I can count on.

We can't say enough great things about Dr Turpel and his amazing team at Upper Canada Animal Hospital. Our 1 1/2 year old chocolate lab, Oakley, had been limping for several months, heavily favoring her rear left leg. Our local vet did x-rays and couldn't find the reason so they sent us to Mississauga Oakville Animal Hospital. I had to wait several weeks to get in but I thought great, I will get a diagnosis that day and we will find out what we need to do to make her better. But I end up leaving that appointment without a diagnosis and a recommendation that I make another appointment at MOVAH to see another specialist, and they told me she seemed to be having issues with her front legs! I was so frustrated! Then a friend recommended we go see Dr Turpel. I called first thing the next day and explained our situation. I got an appointment the next day to see Dr Turpel. He spent 5 minutes assessing her and gave us the diagnosis right away, ligament tears in both back knees, no issues with her front legs. He recommended bilateral TTA surgeries and we were able to get the first surgery done within a couple of weeks. The first surgery was done mid-June on her left leg where he found the meniscus was torn as well. Her second surgery was this past Tuesday, and thankfully her meniscus was fine in that one. Dr. Turpel has spent most of our appointments on the floor with Oakley, making her feel comfortable and gaining her trust. You can see his love and compassion for animals and his understanding of what dog parents are going through. His staff are so kind as well, and the whole team gave us updates and followed up with us throughout this whole process. Dr Turpel himself called us the two evenings we brought her home after each surgery to check on her, and us, and he answered all our questions, and we didn't feel like he was in a rush to get us off the phone. We are ever so grateful to have found Dr Turpel and everyone at Upper Canada Animal Hospital, and for their help to get our little girl on the road to recovery and back to a happy, pain free life. Thank you!

Thank you so much for the friendly, fear-free environment. We really appreciated Dr. Angela's knowledge and advice and willingness to spend so much time with us in answering our questions. Our little man Chihuahua had to have knee surgery Dr Turpel and his staff were highly recommended for the operation by our regular vet. Yoda has done very well and the regular calls and support for his physio at home has been outstanding.

Dr. Turpel is great. A skilled orthopaedic surgeon and a decent human being. He called to check on my cat's progress a few days, a few weeks and a few months after the surgery just to see how things were going. My only suggestion is to get an early appointment so that he isn't behind. He spends the time to really examine your pet and to explain things.

We had received an awful and incorrect diagnosis for little Ella. Thank goodness we found Upper Canada Animal Hospital. Jim set us straight in the first few minutes, and relieved our anxiety. The staff was phenomenal and everyone took such good care of Ella and us, that we can't recommend them enough. She has fully recovered from her knee surgery and we couldn't be happier.

Our beloved Rotti Lucy recently had knee surgery at Upper Canada Hospital. We were all very scared, but Dr. Jim Turpel educated and reassured us on the procedure. He was extremely kind and was willing to answer any questions we had. We were kept apprised of Lucy's condition by email and photos through out the day of surgery. When we brought her home with a detailed recovery plan, Dr. Turpel called to see how everything was going. Dr. Angela was wonderful during Lucy's progress examinations and as always, Crystal was a welcoming face at the front desk. Lucy is now officially discharged (with still some way to go), but Dr. Turpel still calls to monitor her status. I would most highly recommend this veterinary service if your pet has any surgical needs. The professionalism and kindness is off the scales.

We're also relatively new to the area, and wanted a vet that was close by (our cats hate the car) and are delighted with UCAH. Dr. Granacki (or Dr. Angela, as she called herself) was thorough, well informed, kind and practical. No unnecessary procedures. Staff was also very pleasant, and called the next day to see how our cat was doing. Will definitely go back.

Great first visit for us and our French Bulldog, Dougie. The entire staff made a fuss over him and he truly was welcomed. Very thorough examination along with professional advice and discussion. Thanks to all!

If only Bonesy could talk! I don't want to bore you with yet another 5 star review but you can't go any higher. What an incredible Vet Hospital filled with the most caring people on the planet. A staff that harass you with kindness. When have you ever been able to say that. I know where I'm when my knees go out! Bark, bark.

The staff at Upper Canada were amazing! Being new to the area, having a dog that has a condition that requires regular care we were concerned about the care we would receive. We received incredible service, support and advice for both of our dogs. Would highly recommend if you are looking for the best care for your pet.
