I bought a kitchen table and chairs. Again, I was to work with Kim Jamer. She had wonderful suggestions and worked hard to meet my needs. The delivery was perfect; they arrived when they said the would. They set up my table and chairs, and cleaned away all the packaging.

Terrible customer service, the worst store I have ever dealt with.
That’s how They gave me this table and they are not return it back. Just their customer service replies back to my email but no action. No one is coming to replace this table.

Their extended warranty is a scam, do not buy, it's just the manufacturers warranty and they will continue to find excuses not to help with the poor quality furniture. Customer service takes days to reply, but their quick to take payment.

I happen to know someone who works for this company and I was shocked to learn how management treat their staff poorly, unprofessionally with no respect. I advise my dear friend to immediately leave that place and look for another job some place else. Apparently there is a few lawsuits against this company happening right now.

We are very happy with the service we received. We have a relatively small living room with two entrances. It is difficult to choose pieces that will fit and challenging to arrange them in the space. Alyssa provided expert advice and guidance. We are very happy with the furniture we purchased last spring, and look forward to the new end table we just ordered.

She helped me umderstand all the features of the chairs I was looking at, and the others that I wanted to check out before making up my mind. Thank you for reaching out. Please note that after reading your response, I think that you aren’t aware of the entire situation. Please see below all the deficiencies related to the delivery dated Saturday 22 October 2022:

- Sectional Sofa: Overall dirty not only a mark + Base support broken+ Lower fabric under knees cover has many holes. Plus, when you try to sit on the sofa, you can’t stay sitting on more than a few minutes. When I tried it on Saturday evening, my skin became red. It seems like it has a lot of dust inside or something else. So I haven’t been using it since Saturday 22 October, 2022 evening.

- Coffee table: Upper Glass is missing fixation pieces. So, It can’t be used.

Please note that all this damage was communicated to your delivery team, and to your customer service department many times by email and phone.
For the showroom model, I would agree with you if all those deficiencies were communicated to me by your sales representative, but it wasn’t the case. However, he promised me that the overall Sofa will be deeply cleaned before delivery. A promise that wasn’t respected unfortunately.
Finally, please note that I’m tired of the situation. I paid my money ($ 3100- One shot payment) for products that I haven’t been using since their delivery (11 days now) and which are taking place in my apartment without any benefit. And I hope that your customer service team is going to come back to me asap with an efficient final agreement that will address this situation definitively.

Very nice and very large selection of furniture. Joanne helped us narrow down our search and really helped us with all of our questions. She was the perfect sales rep. Always nearby to help, but not too close that it feels like they're hovering. Great place to go if you're looking for high quality Canadian furniture at a fair price.

My spouse and I had the pleasure of stopping in and trying out a few sofas and sectionals and ended up falling in love with the 2702 sectional from Decor Rest Furniture LTD. What really sold us was our amazing Salesperson Kim Jamer! She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and heard, and told us about the incredible business that is Upper Room, and the primarily Canadian made products they sell. That was a HUGE pro for us as we are always trying to support as local as we possibly can. Kim was so kind, down to earth, and innerstanding of how large of an investment this was for our home and future. We are so grateful for Kim and the team at Upper Room Home Furnishings, and we will definitely be dealing with Kim and this business in our future! Shopped at all the major brands and overall found the furniture business to be smarmier than used car shopping.

I was expecting a better experience at Upper Room reflecting the premium price point and local family run owned image but the experience did not meet my expectations.

Ultimately my issue was resolved (after 3 levels of escalation and the initial one star review), but there was a disingenuous nature to every interaction that left me with impression customer experience takes a back seat to sales numbers.

The positives -
-my experience at the Hunt Club location was better than the Kanata one.
-they had some beautiful and unique pieces not found elsewhere.
- on the few elements we price shopped their base pricing was competitive with their competitors sale pricing

The sales person was not only very knowledgeable about art and other products, she went above and beyond to help us choose stools and art. She asked me to show pictures of my livingroom and kitchen area and was able to show me art and stools that went well with the two areas. I will definitely request her as a sales person when I come to the store to purchase other furniture. If you visit Upper Room Home Furnishings, you will not be disappointed with their furnishings. If you visit the store ask for Joanne. She is amazing!

We recently purchased some furniture from Kim Jamer at your Kanata location. We found that dealing with Kim to be a great experience. It was nice to be able to walk into the door and not feel smothered upon entering. She allowed us to have our space to discuss our potential purchase which was refreshing but also brought a fun personality to the transaction. At no time did we feel any pressure. Thank you Kim.

I was in the market for a living and dinning room for about a year and half and Brandon was always happy to help and provide me with options without any pressure to buy. We had been looking for a table for our dining room and had visited many different establishments. We were in the Kanata area and decided to visit the Upper Room. The store and displayed merchandise was comparable to other furniture stores. What makes this location unique is the wonderful staff. Rebecca, a design consultant at Upper Room, welcomed us warmly and cheerfully and provided us with expert advice. Every question we had was answered to our complete satisfaction. We were undecided regarding styles and colours but Rebecca was so efficient and helpful in this regard. She, along with the manager (great display of teamwork), was able to show us examples of each style in order to assist in our decision. I truly enjoyed my buying experience and Rebecca’s professionalism and warm smile will have us return to this location for sure.

I was looking for a desk for a home office and I was doing my research at a variety of stores. I met Brandon at the Kanata store. He was very thorough and answered all of my questions. I spent a lot of time deciding what would work best for me and Brandon was patient and never pressured me. I look forward to its delivery.

Was there September 2021 looking at Jaymar arm chair priced at $4250 decided to wait until Black Friday to save some $$. As usual they have promotions to save 15% great!:) not so fast, the chair price now $4750.12% increase in 2 months. When I asked how can the price increase by 12% in 2 month the answer.you guessed it COVID:) Just love how COVID has increased the price exactly the same amount as the promotion saving is. At least be honest with your costumers.
So I called Jaymar asking if their cost and prices has gone up by 12% in last two months, they mentioned there has not been any cost or price increase in last few months, but each store is free to set their own price as they see fit. Be honest with your costumers please.

Kari, at the Kanata store, was very personable. We went in to look for a dining table. I was concerned when I found out that we couldn't just purchase a table from the store; instead, we would have to "build" a table on the computer and have it custom built to be delivered in 3-4 months. However, Kari was very helpful in walking us through the process. Thanks for your knowledgeable input and pleasant demeanor. We look forward to seeing our new dining table in a few months.

We purchase a lot of furniture as we often move and never have we encountered such dismal, non-existent customer service. Once Upper Room Kanata has your money, you’re basically persona non grata. The only positive point is that their furniture looks very nice. However, once bought, you may find the quality subpar.

We purchased a file cabinet in January and due to Covid, it wasn’t delivered until May which we completely understand.

By July the cabinet no longer closed; we contacted “customer service” (and that’s a very loose term when dealing with them) to have the cabinet fixed. Weeks went by with no answer.
Finally on August 17th we received a reply from Crystal Young who is supposedly a Senior Service Advisor indicating she would send our request to a tech and we should get a reply within a week.

More weeks went by with no updates so we contacted Crystal again and after waiting almost two weeks got back to us indicating she couldn’t get a hold of the tech.

It was decided that she would order parts, even though there was no indication of what the problem was, and our cabinet would be picked up once the parts arrived.

For the subsequent weeks we left countless voicemails and emails to Crystal (or whoever works in “customer service”) as we wanted the cabinet picked up so it would be in their warehouse when the parts arrived preventing further delay. All those attempts at communicating went unanswered even though they promise they’ll get back to you within 2-3 days. We were pretty much begging for anyone to get back to us.

After not hearing back from “customer service” we contacted Lynn Hamilton, a manager at the store who agreed this was not acceptable. She indicated the parts were arriving in October and we’d have a pick up on November 5th.

We received a call November 4th to confirm next-day pick up but had to reschedule due to a medical reason. The pick up was rescheduled for December 3rd.

On November 25th we get a phone call from Crystal indicating the parts hadn’t arrived. Interesting since they had arrived in October and we had an original pick up of November 5th. This leads us to believe that our parts were used to fix someone else’s cabinet.

We’ve been trying to get a hold of Crystal and the infamous customer service since November 25th and of course no response to emails/ voicemails even though they promise a 2-3 day wait.

We emailed the manager Lynn Hamilton again to find out if we were getting a pick up and if the parts weren’t in, we still wanted the cabinet picked up and this time a refund issued. No answer.

We are now a day away from maybe getting the cabinet picked up; we work and have no clue if we should take the day off.

We will be putting in a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

We’ve been without a functioning file cabinet since July and have had to purchase back up ones to ensure our files are under lock and key.

Shameful service from what we thought was a higher-end store.

Just a warning for those thinking of purchasing. They’re all lovey dovey until the sale is made and then you’re on your own.

I recently decided to convert my home office to a den in order to have a relaxed space for reading and watching television. To make that happen, I needed some new furniture - chairs were my main concern. Finding the right size and the right fit is always important. I walked in to the Kanata location and was greeted by Kari. It turns out, that was my lucky day. She gave me loads of information in answer to my questions and researched chairs that are the right size and best of all, made in Canada! She helped me select fabrics and an area rug to get my project well under way. Kari Sikala is a Design Consultant on the Upper Room Team. She is knowledgeable and experienced and grasps concepts easily. I do not hesitate to recommend her. Alice Holst

Dont buy anything here. Very poor customer service. Sectional for which we paid nearly 15000 failed mechanically after only 1 year of usage because 5 year old child put his chest onto headrest because he wanted to look out of the window. We have 5 year extended warranty but Instead of sending some one to fix whatever failed there, they are brushing us off and wasting our time with excuses such as "we need to consult with manufacturer and maybe they will tell us what can be done". They had photo of damage since Friday. My request for escalation to management was refused. If issue is not dealt in next 2 days, i will be opening BBB complaint and start looking into further actions.update: 11/3/2021 regardles of what their management stated in their reply.no action was taken to correct the issue.it had been half a year we have been waiting for someone to come to fix the seat and nothing was done.every time i call them, its same old excuse of COVID delays.last time they even said part is in their warehouse already and still have not sent anyone to install it.

I was in Upper Room a few weeks ago to look at the Liberty Summer House 5 piece dining set. There were none on the floor at the time, so I decided to see where I could actually view one. I found one on the showroom floor at Leon's. The price (at the time at Upper Room was $1550 - no tax). The price of the one at Leon's (at that time) was $999 (plus tax). I left numerous messages for my Upper Room salesperson to call me back and when she did, I asked if Upper Room would match Leon's price. I wanted to keep my business there. I never received a call back with an answer. That set is now $1990 at Upper Room and $1299 no tax, free delivery at Leon's. I'm very disappointed in this lack of response and have purchased it through Leon's.

Malik was friendly and very helpful answering all of my questions. He explained the sale. I told him that I was not ready to purchase the chair and that I was only looking. I appreciated that there was no pressure. I returned a week later and I purchased the chair from Malik.

The store was very nice and clean. Everyone was friendly.

I went in to Upper Room to look at chairs because I am having problems finding a comfortable chair, as I age I have hip, back and neck problems. I was greeted by Kim and there was no pressure to buy however she was very helpful in finding the perfect fit for me because I am on the petite size and have a real problem in getting a chair that is suitable for me. Kim spent a lot of time to make sure I found the perfect chair. I am so pleased with her service and because she was in the health care system she really could help me find the prefect chair. I bought one of the stress less chairs that was just my size. Thankyou Kim Jamer.

Ankita was excellent. I beleive it was her first day and we were buying a reclining chair. We also had tons of questions about orders that we were waiting for. She helped us with all our queries and immediately received answers from others when she was not certain. I would definitely recommend Ankita. She is very pleasant and professional.

First of all a huge thanks to Kim who helped us with our purchase. We were browsing for dining tables during this visit. Kim guided us throughout the customization process and answered all of our questions. There was no pressure to purchase anything extra, just up front facts about each upgrade/design/colour choices and warranty options. This made our experience quite pleasant at the Upper Room.

My mom and I recently shopped at Upper Room, Kanata, for a sofabed. We were leery about finding one that would have both a comfortable sit and sleep. It is used daily for TV watching and almost monthly as a guest bed, and we have suffered through 2 previous bad ones.
I startred my search online, and was helped by Ekansh Bhatia. He was very sensitive to our concerns and needs. He met us later that day in the showroom, where we saw and tested out all options. He was quick to clue in to mom's style and wishes, and before long we had chosen the perfect match for her decor and comfort.
He gave her as many discounts as he could fit in, but above all, he was so kind, friendly, and fun to work with. Thank you, Ekansh!
We have shopped at Upper Room when it was on Queensview, and have always had positive experiences with staff and product. Love the store AND the experience!

We went into browse the Kanata Centrum location on Friday evening, not knowing that the store closed in 5 minutes. We were about to leave and the sales associate Kim was very kind and said "Take your time and look around! I'm not in a rush" (having a background in retail, I would never normally do this). She showed us everything that we were interested in, and didn't push us at all - she actually said "take the evening and think about it". We did, and then came back on Saturday morning, bought the bedroom set and a new leather chair. All because Kim gave us space, answered a million questions and and was just lovely. One of the best furniture buying experiences we have had.

The furniture is beautiful and the service in the store is wonderful. The sales people are friendly, helpful and not at all pushy. A huge shout out to Steve, the delivery guy! He is super friendly, polite and very careful with the furniture and walls, etc.
However, all of that is almost ruined by the terrible experience when you try to call to get information regarding your order. No one will call you back, not within the 24-48 hours they tell you in the message. I did get one call back, but only after I left a really nasty message.really? The lady who called me back was very nice and I got my partial shipment. But I had to get mad and feel terrible about myself first. That sucked. And one pillow is coming apart, but it’s a pillow.
All that said, I love the furniture, the in store experience and Steve!
