Fraudulent business practices

Ordered several small decor items online. UB never sent me the shipping notice or tracking information when they were sent out. Package ends up getting returned to sender. When I inquired with customer service about where TF my package was, they finally provided tracking information that showed it had already been received back in their warehouse as returned to sender! What?

I requested a refund, but was told they have to confirm the package is in the warehouse (even though the tracking information SHOWS it was returned). Then I'm advised that in order to process the refund I would have to give them my card number again. Either by providing my card information to someone over the phone or in an unsecured chat. What?

That is absolutely NOT standard practice in ecommerce at all. Every other business goes into the online transaction and reverses the payment. It's simple. But this process is also not outlined in their return policy either. Allegedly, my only other option is a gift card (uh, no thanks! I'm not spending any money here again!) or a cheque. A CHEQUE. Which will take 2-3 weeks to process.

Have I been teleported to 1985? What is going on? My goodness. What an absolutely atrocious experience. I am not at all confident I'll actually receive my refund. I plan to submit a charge back on my card if it's not in hand within 30 days. My advice? RUN, don't walk, away from this company.

No accommodation or discount given because furniture not arriving at the same time.making us pay for 2 delivery costs i stead of compensating for one of the charges. Info on when the products are to be delivered was incorrect.it was a long and tedious process to order the products on the phone.overall a very bad experience and likely wont be purchasing from urban barn again.would not recommend.

I encountered the worst customer service 2 times with the same staff member named Leo. I am a loyal customer and have purchased many things throughout the years. The items and this location was amazing. However after how he treated me and my family In the store I was very upset. To begin with, I asked him for help and he said he was busy doing some paper work on the computer and told me to wait. What kind of customer service is this? Anyways I waited for 10 min and as a new customer came from the door to come inside to the store he went directly to them and ignoring me. I was so mad that I had to leave, because I was waiting for him. I don’t know if this is discrimination and judging a person. This did not only happened to me but also my best friend from the same staff member encounter worst than me too. This was my first encounter. Another encounter I had happened with the same staff member Leo, I was mad from my previous experience I gave it the benefit of the doubt and came again. I grabbed something that I wanted to purchase so I went to the front in the checkout and he rushed to me and said are you returning this items? How would I come to the store in an empty hand and he sees me picking up the item from the shelf and return something. He saw me coming in the store and asking me this question was so rude and it made me so mad that I didn’t want him to checkout my Items and wanted another staff as they are much nicer but they were busy so I just grabbed it and purchased it and left because it was for Mother’s Day gift. He has absolutely the worst customer service. I will definitely not be coming to this store ever again. I come from a long drive to come to this store and being a loyal customer and to be treated my being disrespectful is absolutely wrong. As a staff member they have to treated everyone equally. I see the difference how he treated me and other people. I will also be telling my story to all the people that I know that shop here, I know for sure they won’t be coming here after listening to this. Thanks have a nice day. I want to report this to someone one who has high position so I just wrote it here

This Urban Barn features some great home decor, and furniture. This is no discount store and prices can be on the higher side, but they do sell quality and some very unique items. The store itself is not huge, but has a lot in a small space and is well merchandised! Saw some awesome tables, great bedroom setups and there’s actually some really good deals on some furniture which was half price or less. The store is bright, well lit with lots of windows. There are lots of staff available for the size of the space although no one engaged with us we were allowed to wander and shop and I’m sure if we needed help we could’ve found it easily. Wandering through and exploring, the store was a good experience.

I only write reviews when I have had exceptionally good or bad service. The Leaside staff at Urban Barn are outstanding and consistently helpful! I purchased a custom couch and knew that I was responsible for all measurements etc.to ensure it fit. I did so BUT made 1 error and found myself with a stunning couch that could not round a corner at my condo. When I enquired on what my options might be (I signed the waiver that I owned the couch), they suggested 2 options for me. Within 24 hours, there was a solution to getting my couch in my condo and I am now comfortably sitting on it as I write this review. This is the 2nd time I've made a significant purchase at the Leaside store and will continue to give them my business going forward! Thank you Leaside!

Incredibly misleading information provided by store staff. I purchased a custom couch from them and was told when I bought it that the delivery people would remove the old couch. The day before delivery I was advised that they do not provide that service, nor have they provided it for years. The assistant manager provided no apology for this, nor did she attempt to resolve the issue other than telling me to contact a charity to pick it up. Urban Barn has essentially washed their hands of the issue and made their mistake my problem to solve. Terrible customer service. If I could return the couch I would.

Salesperson promised the moon to make the sale, failed to mention promotions at the time which could have saved us hundreds of dollars and told us they haul away the old furniture which they don't do. Now we have to pay someone else to do that. There are many furniture stores out there that go out of their way to make the customer happy, I'll go elsewhere next time.

I visited the Leaside location as I was unsuccessful in completing an online transaction for a coffee table. The sales reps in the store was very apologetic about my ordeal and was able to promptly order the table for me. She also assured me that I could pick up the table at the Leaside store as opposed to having to make the trek to the Mississauga warehouse. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. I will definitely shop there again.

Dec 20,2021: I'm glad I went to the Leaside location because that's where I met Kim Taylor- a sales rep who exceeded my expectations. Kim was a huge asset in my hunt for a high quality and comfortable sofa. What I found most impressive was her ability to relay the measurements, dimensions, and weights of ALL the sofas on display (and even those available only through the website) strictly through MEMORY, in inches and centimeters. Kim took it a step further by introducing me to color swatches/options that I didn't even know existed, a substantial selection not listed anywhere on the website. She also strong-armed me (along with my girlfriend) to rent a swatch in order to test it out in my residence under different lighting.and I'm glad she did. Prior to walking out, she even gave me a heads up on the upcoming Boxing Week promo (15% off custom furniture).

Fast forward to December 28th - I'm back at the Leaside location, Kim immediately recognizes me, and we proceed to finalize the purchase: Lure Custom Sofa With Chaise!

Anna and Eden are INCREDIBLE! Eden spent a ton of time with us on the floor, answering my many many questions while picking up after me as I tossed pillows and throw blankets aside to sit on every single sofa. They are very patient, educated, and helpful and the store is absolutely beautiful. Excellent shopping experience. Thank you ladies!

I purchased a large and heavy picture. When I went to pick it up, the staff were not helpful at all in helping me take it out to my car even when they could see I was struggling to get it out of the store. When I took it out of the box at home, there was nothing on the back to hang it with and no holes in the frame. I contacted the store to ask how it should be hung. The manager who answered the phone was very rude and condescending, and asked me if I had ever hung a picture before. She told me to hang it with two screws on the wall and the metal frame would rest on the two screws. I don't think so as the picture is around 39 lbs. When I questioned this, she proceeded to tell me that I could return it - not that I asked about that! This was a terrible experience of customer service and I will not be going back to Urban Barn. What a total fail!

We’ve always loved Urban Barn and recently had a great experience at the Leaside location when we bought our new sofa. Eden was incredibly helpful & patiently answered our million questions before making the purchase. She was quick to walk us through the process for shipping & delivery and made sure we felt comfortable with our decision. Great place to shop for furniture and the best thing is it's all Canadian made. No waiting months for delivery. Might cost you a bit more but worth the money and life time warranty. Made in Canada.

Appreciate the respect for quality and warranty that comes with Canadian made furniture. Read the details, they need to make this more upfront. Imported products are with 1 yr warranty are sold beside Canadian products with 10 yrs for the same price.

I went in to find something and the manager dealt with me personally. She was superb and professional, showed me options that were not in the store and made arrangements for me to pick it up at another store the next morning. And the item I had to order she is having delivered to a store closet to where I am moving. Overall definitely going to shop at this Canadian store again!

This was a quick trip to the Leaside location to pick up an order. I was never advised by the store that my order had arrived. I had to follow up to inquire myself! However the pick up process when I got there was quick, smooth and easy. Llikely the changes due to Covid affected their regular store workings when it came to orders notification and doesn't seem to be their usual thing. They also follow all the Covid screens and restrictions when you get there (offering hand sanitization, asking a few quick questions and posting a person at the front to monitor traffic), so you can feel safe to shop as well.

Eden was absolutely amazing! We have been looking for a long time for the right couch and recliner for our family room. Lucky for us Eden was in the store the day we came and she was awesome! She has a great eye for detail and helped us put together a beautiful selection! Can’t wait for the furniture to arrive! Highly recommend Eden and Urban Barn Leaside!

Long overdue review. I purchased custom sofas and a custom Nest for a new basement reno. When the furniture finally arrived, there was a big problem with one of the sofas due to an inadvertent error made at the time of purchase. The reason for this 5 star review is because of the way UB Leaside handled the problem. They totally handled it. They took ownership for the issue and made it right very quickly. No attitude, no blaming, just people who care and want you to love your new stuff.

Thanks to Helen for the wonderful assistance in creating my favourite new space in the house - I would recommend her hands-down to anyone - and also to the Manager Anna for the incredible customer service on the return/exchange.

I placed an order and was told it would arrive in 3 weeks
time to be picked up at store. Much to my surprise, the
order arrived after only one week, I was advised by e-mail
that my order was at the store and ready for pick-up.
A good customer experience for me, and I certainly
wouldn`t hesitate to shop there again.

We love our new living room chair. The low arms allow for a new reading chair and just lovely for relaxing. Guests have noticed right away when they arrive how spacious the chair is and comfortable. Thank you Urban Barn!

I purchased a bed a few weeks ago, It was a floor model but in perfect condition. When it was delivered to me the bed had a few scratches but most concerning was a crack down the middle of the headboard. I called to report the damage, and was informed that this particular bed had been discontinued, and that someone would get back to me with a solution. They offered me a refund, or another bed at the cost I paid for the bed plus an additional $200, and this was the decision of their regional manager. I expressed my disappointment as a refund isn't what would have really worked for me and I don't see why I should have to be out of pocket any more money when the damaged furniture was not my fault. Needless to say this was a frustrating experience, and I wouldn't purchase from here again.
