Friendly employees, always an interesting mix of items, decent prices. If you're lucky, you can find that item you need for a bargain. It just might take several visits, however.

Please reopen the fitting rooms. I would buy more stuff i could try things on. It's a hassle if something doesn't fit to have to go back to the store and try to find something else in exchange.
29 May 2023 4:10
Prices are getting too high for some items. I have still been able to get some very nice clothes at a good price. The change rooms need to be re-opened.

I have never been to the donation center before, but I have to say this place was A+. Fast, efficient and friendly.

I found several pieces of clothing I was thrilled to get, a sweater, plaid shirt, and polka dot top. My husband purchased two pair of shoes that were basically brand new. I picked up some small Christmas gifts for my two year old grand daughter as well. The store was tidy. Great bargains. On my last visit I discovered that the Owen Sound store is using the self checking method. Lots of staff on hand to help where needed.

To begin, they are way over priced. I can go to Winners in the building next door and get new items for less. Plus, their permanently closed change rooms should be reflected in their return policy: if I can't try on the item I should be allowed to get my money back, not just be offered an exchange.
18 November 2022 13:16
The staff that work here aren't very friendly and seem to follow you around the store.must be thinking people are trying to steal clothing that is given away. Overly priced for most items anyways
13 November 2022 5:47
Now self check out.not so inspiring to shop there along with price increases. Way of the world.

I needed a new belt right away. I came here in a frantic search and found the perfect belt to hold up my pants. Thank you
25 October 2022 14:36
Hit or miss on whether you find something and hard to find any brand name womens clothing. The prices are expensive and most clothes are not worth the price they are selling for. Also wish they would bring the fitting rooms back.
19 October 2022 22:35
Great place. They have books, clothing men, women's, children, teens, knick knacks and alot more. Good merchandise. Sometimes u can get brand new clothing with tags on. Prices are reasonable. U have to go there, u will be amazed.

Great location and options, but they are starting to really overprice items! Also the pandemic is over so it's time for them to bring back change rooms. Especially because they have no return policy and you can't try stuff on.it's not easy for people to come back all the time (especially if they don't drive or are elderly). Seems more convenient for their profit margins and less about thrifting. I am very disappointed in what Value Village has become.
05 September 2022 3:16
Went to do some browsing.and found some good treasures, but left other things behind as I noticed some inconsistent pricing in the Housewares section relating to separateTupperware containers and separate seals.it's all over the place. Other Thrift stores seem to do this much better.

I have visited many value village locations through the years (Toronto, Barrie, Kitchener, Stratford, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Medicine Hat, Calgary, Vancouver). Never before have I encountered a value village without a place for people to try on the clothes they find. When I asked, I was told you take it and return it if it doesn't fit. That wasn't an option for me since I live an hour and a half away and consequently I will never return to this store again. Nor would I recommend it to anyone.
19 August 2022 20:24
Bought a shirt j here the other day, didn't fit. I took it back for refund, but they only let you exchange items, no cash refund. When did a Thrift Store become a Theft store? Never again will I go here to buy, or even donate anything.

Aug 7.
I was asked to review again this Theft store. Went a couple of weeks ago. I have trouble paying for something that's not worth the money they're asking. Plus the return policy isn't to my liking. Mind you, they do have a lot of stuff, just not worth the asking price. I can find things brand new, never opened, in stores cheaper than what No Value Village is charging.
(I guess you can tell, I'm not a fan anymore of this chain.)

Excellent selection but change rooms were closed so I wasn't able to try on my things before purchasing. This meant I bought quite a bit less. Clean store and well laid out.
12 June 2022 20:55
I was honestly surprised at the prices, most of the items which are donated are priced ridiculously high, jeans for 20 dollars which in my mind is a little high this I meant for people with no money. I probably won't be back I can get a better deal at Costco or talize.
01 January 2022 4:38
It was ok they have a wide selection and variety of clothing
How ever I gave them only 3 stars because they do not have fitting rooms and seeing how its a used clothing store i think that is important
31 October 2021 21:02
Smaller inside than expected and not with the same selection other places have but nice, clean, bright and well organized
30 October 2021 21:23
Great place to browse and find good deals.especially if you are a senior.
Extra 30% savings every tuesday for seniors!

Dropped off a load of items today and was greeted by cheerful and friendly staff. Buying and giving are both great experiences at Value Village.
13 October 2021 10:31
Always love to look around
Some of the prices are on the higher side considering the items have been Donated

Not impressed.
Yesterday I was shopping for some kitchen items. I picked 2 pyrex casserole dishes one larger and one about 20% smaller. The larger was tagged at 4.99 and the smaller at 3.99.
I loaded my purchases at the register counter and then walked 2 registers down to get one of their shopping totes in a colour I liked. Out of the corner if my eye I saw another store worker come up to my register and pick up the smaller dish. She returned it to the register when I returned and then she just walked away. The woman at the register was just about to ring it in when I noted the tag had been pasted over with a new tag now marking it 4.99. That was a 25% increase! No one would have said anything if I had not noticed. I certainly did not want to pay more for a smaller dish and one that was clearly marked for sale at the 3.99 price, so I did not buy it. I don't think it is honest or ethical to mark an item at a certain price and then ask for a higher price at the cash register. Certainly it is completely wrong to try and sneak the price increase through without telling the customer.
I did ask to speak to the lady who changed the price and said that I didn't feel that was an honest thing to do and she said that she studied law, and there was no legal reason why she couldn't do it.
I think she did it again to the lady in line behind me because I saw her go to the register again as I was leaving, and say about the lady's purchase, "That's the wrong ticket ".
For a place that's already making huge profits from donated items, they should be more honest with their customers.

Love the store, but would like to see a bigger toy section. Otherwise good shopping experience. Courteous staff, and well priced merchandise.
16 September 2021 14:24
Absolutely disgusting. My daughter dropped $20 somewhere in the store. We asked a clerk to make an announcement so we could get it returned. They said they don't do that. We went to the manager and then another manager. Essentially they don't do customer service. Will never shop there again.
26 August 2021 6:07
Some prices higher than new.
Too greedy. Please donate to stores that make it their focus to give back to community. Vv takes your free donation sells it for a lot of money and they keep the profit.
24 July 2020 17:32
Corona got the fitting rooms on lock down which is understandable. To compensate they're allowing exchanges after you purchase and try on at home
04 April 2020 9:29
Wasnt looking for anything in particular bit found that there prices were way too high for used junk
02 April 2020 0:55
The pricing is getting a little competive for a thrift type store but good variety of articles for sale.
22 March 2020 17:55
Very friendly staff. Selections are good. Really smells like a thrift store. Pricing could be better on the used clothing.
22 March 2020 1:55
They overprice their items at all locations. I did find one brand new good pair of pants though for a reasonable price. But they still mark up prices 50 to 95% more than they should.
18 February 2020 23:20
Way over priced for stuff they get for free. And I recently purchased three dvds in which when getting home realise the dvds are not even in it and pretty much paid Walmart $5bin price for empty cases.
06 February 2020 15:59
I love thrifting, one of my favourite thrifting stops in owen sound; take the time to look, don't be in a rush; and enjoy your finds.
03 February 2020 2:18
Once was a fun place to shop but over the years it has gotten ridiculous. Considering all items are donated, most often broken or missing parts the prices are far to high. Identical items in same condition are different prices. Dollar store items are more than the original dollar store tag. I don't go very often now.
29 January 2020 16:45
Seems cleaner lately.:) Prices are a bit high and out of whack. Eg.exact same sweater.two different prices. $6.99 or14.99.you'd think all sweaters would be the same price? I'm glad to save the environment by buying gently used products. So thank you for that.
13 January 2020 1:17
Upon further consideration ive decided to change my vote to a more favorable review

If you're diligent about checking in often, you can easily find exactly what you're looking for at a reasonable price within a few days

I recently bough a roomba style robotic vacuum for only $20 and it works absolutely FLAWLESSLY!

even came with the wireless charging base!
12 January 2020 8:19
Got a very nice sweater and collectible teddy bear. I've purchased other clothing from them before too. Got a winter coat a few years ago that was a real bargain too. The coat was valued at $229.00 and I got it for $15.00. Very pleased with that.
27 November 2019 22:20
I highly recommend going first thing in the morning; it gets really loud and crowded in the afternoon, plus all the good stuff is sold by then
23 November 2019 10:21
Excellent selection! Some Value Villages don't have the best selection or they are picked over. This one doesn't have either of those problems. Not picked over and great selection. Found a great pair of jeans and a hardcover comic book. The jeans were value, but comicbook was a bit pricey. Looking forward to returning to pop some tags.
17 November 2019 8:06
Clean store. Lots to choose from. They take virtually everything as donations. Always a fun place to visit.
15 November 2019 1:45
Pleasant workers.clean store.check out was quick for a enrollment for a discount special that was on.offered a paper bag first instead of plastic.isles were a bit too tight for two carts to pass each other.
13 November 2019 15:22
They had a HUGE selection of books! And on sale for 50% combined with buy 4 get 1 free on top of it! Stocked my book shelevs!
24 October 2019 13:51
I found a nice wedding dress for 40$ the same look as the one i found on facebook for 400$ and i got 2 very nice jackets
21 October 2019 13:41
Great shop, very active and good variety of items, they were once again asking far too much for many of their items which are donated to them for free. Yes there is a flipper market for a lot of the more valuable items, however just in general, they no longer seem to be catering to their primary target, which is those folks who struggle and depend on thrift shops for everyday supplies. C'mon Value Village, you can do better.
14 September 2019 1:35
Not a much men's clothing selection as would have liked. Went in for shoes/jeans for my husband. I, typically, found a work pair for myself. Nicely laid out store for easy finding choices.
02 September 2019 6:00
Value Village is a for-profit second hand shop. They sell things donated to them at huge mark-ups. If you ask why things are expensive you will be told they price things by 'condition/quality' but a pair of very stained white sneakers can range from 10-17 dollars.

Almost everything there is incredibly expensive and I doubt the bulk of their sales go into 'donations' as they say. Support your local charity shops and not a place that profits off donations by trying to sell you old jeans for the price of new jeans.
11 June 2019 3:17
Yeah, I'm not paying $11 for someone's old used shorts. Especially from a company that let's people think they have something to do with charity when they really don't. Why people donate their stuff to a private, for profit company that barely donates anything to charity and has no local interests or ownership is beyond me.
